>30 years between ROTJ and TFA
>NuCanon has the Galactic Civil War end a year after Endor even though in the EU it didn't end until 14 years after Endor

fucking WHY
first off that's a stupid decision from a storytelling standpoint because now they've eliminated the possibility of any stories regarding the remnants of the Empire post-Endor that don't take place within the year

jesus christ, by the point TFA takes place, the old EU would have already finished the Yuuzhan Vong War. I really hope the new canon fills in the blanks for those 30 years with good stories but they really wrote themselves into a corner since nothing can happen on a big scale that won't contradict what's been established in TFA, and there's not much they can do with Luke/Han/Leia

why didn't they just rewrite the Thrawn trilogy to make more sense in the current canon. There's so much shit from the EU that they still would have been able to include had they not decided to end the war after a year
>>
>>90987170

>>90987355
I think his point is that TFA unnecessarily crimps the stories you can tell in between ROTJ and it. It can't, as he says, be anything really good or interesting, because Han, Luke, and Leia have to get where they are by the time TFA starts, and where they are isn't terribly interesting.
>>
If Dooku were to have a novel (author doesn't matter), how would you want to see it connected to the canon, outside of the obvious Prequel connection? The catch: it has to connect to the new canon contributions that are ongoing now; it can't be standalone (which means Unknown Regions related)

You could say that about any gap in the franchise that isn't open-ended.

His point isn't wrong at all, it's a very common opinion on /swco/ that ROTJ->TFA is severely restricted in potential.

But pointing to the EU isn't really a good alternative. Dragging on the war for almost 2 decades, and fighting extra-galactic aliens is not exactly what I would call better.
>>
>>90987521
Thanks.
>>
>>90987355
what he said:
>>90987449

there can only be stories about either original characters that can't be fleshed out too much without their absence in the sequel trilogy seem out of place, or about ones we don't see in TFA like Wedge and Lando. Speaking of which has Lando been mentioned at all in the NuCanon? Or has Lucasfilm said why he wasn't in TFA? I know Wedge wasn't because Dennis Lawson didn't want to be in it, but Billy Dee seemed game and they're having the character play a role in the Han Solo film. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I know Billy Dee Williams looks like shit but if Mark Hamill was able to unJUST himself the way he did I'm sure BDW could clean himself up a lil bit.

well no, I wasn't saying that they should just follow the EU directly, but I brought it up as a comparison to show the difference in the amount of things that have happened in the 30 years since ROTJ in the EU and in the current canon
>>
>>90987614
Current canon is only a few years old m8

We have three books on the first year after ROTJ alone, and while those aren't the best, theres also the fan-favorite Bloodline.

Sure the OT characters in particular are restrained by TFA, but theres still stories that can be told with them, or newer characters, or original characters.

The Galaxy doesn't have to be at war for good stories to show up, Bloodlines is proof of that.
>>
>>90987497
>Star Wars
>there's no wars
wooooooooow
>>
>>90987564
>Speaking of which has Lando been mentioned at all in the NuCanon? Or has Lucasfilm said why he wasn't in TFA?
He's mentioned in Bloodline. They don't go into detail of what he's been up to but he apparently kept in touch with Han and Leia since he's one of the people sending Leia messages of support after her relation to Vader is publicly outed.

As for why he wasn't in TFA, apparently they did offer him a cameo but he couldn't do it because he wasn't feeling well at the time they were shooting. No idea how true that is, though.
>>
>>90987707
it's bizarre to me that they wouldn't utilize him as a lead character in a story set after Jedi, especially since he was a major character in the OT and we don't know his fate, which would at least add some level of "will he make it out of this" that we wouldn't get from something involving Luke/Leia/Han

>mfw it just dawned on me that the possible final film in the main Star Wars saga is going to be written and directed by Colin Treverrow

fucking hell, I really hope it's not as bland and braindead as Jurassic World was
>>
>>90987917
I wonder if Disney's rethinking that at all. I mean, fuck, does Treverrow have any major films to his name besides JW? He seems ill prepared to handle something as important as the final movie of the ST. At least Johnson has a couple of major studio films under his belt.
>>
>>90987917
>it's not from the 80s so its bland
>>
>>90987355

Because it's a GALACTIC empire. It has millions of ships under it's reach and thousands of star systems.

I wouldn't mind a shorter campaign but one year is way too short. Five would be good. Maybe three or four. But one year and then an immediate de escalation is retarded and every novel showing imperial perspective portrays it as such. Shit lost stars has the imperial remnant attacking the republic IMMEDIATELY.
>>

replace "Jurassic World" with literally any movie title and that argument still works. Any movie could be terrible, the fact that a movie isn't awful shouldn't automatically make it good
>>
>>90987661

Except no stories anyone gives a fuck about are there. Lost stars is ok but it's feeding into nothing since all those characters got abandoned just like every other book protagonist.

>the fact that a movie isn't awful shouldn't automatically make it good
Why not? Have you seen what Jurassic Park 4 would've been?

Jurassic World was not terrible. It's not great or as good as the first film but it's not bad. It was enjoyable enough and decent. I'd take it over what Jurassic Park 4 could've been any day
>>
>coming to Star Wars gen for good film opinions

>>
>>90987435
>Friendly reminder that had the war dragged on the CIS would have eventually won

Like all the Nazis such as Manstein who claimed they could have won WW2 if not for Hitler. You don't get to fight your wars after you lost.
>>
The thing about Jurassic World is that it's the ultimate example of "effects driven spectacle movie makes lots of money in countries that don't speak English."

The visuals and the effects and the setpieces matter a lot more if you want to make money in, say, China or Brazil or Nigeria. And Jurassic World has the best CGI creations you could possibly have. I mean, fucking dinosaurs. Everybody loves dinosaurs. Every single person on the planet loves dinosaurs and thinks they're cool as shit. So a movie that prominently features dinosaurs walking, stampeding, fighting, hunting, etc. is going to make serious bank, no matter how good, or bad, a movie it is.

So, basically, JW's success was more guaranteed than any other modern blockbuster's, and I don't think we can take from it a good idea of how Trevarrow will handle Episode 9.

Yeah, I'm well aware of the dinosaur-human hybrid soldier shit they wanted to do, I even have a copy of that script somewhere on my computer, but just because he didn't make that movie doesn't make it good.

My main issues with Treverrow are his directing style (super basic with awful color grading) and how the characters were written (I walked out of the theater realizing I didn't even remember their names because of how forgettable they were)

None of those have to do with "what could have been", they have to do with what we got

Williams? What was the excuse for TFA? It's not like he was forced to rush it at the last minute like Giacchino (fucking how did he write the score to Rogue One in 4 weeks, dude must've been binging on adderall or something because that's insane)
>>
>>90988948
JJ never let him see the whole movie. He had to score it one piece at a time. And without his usual orchestra.
>>
>>90988948
He wasn't scoring to a complete cut of the movie, just having to do bits and pieces of it and try to cobble it together. Plus he had to work with a smaller orchestra.

Though honestly at his age, I think rustiness may account for some of it, too.
>>

CIS army production was much higher than the Republic with newer and more efficient droids being produced every year. Some battledroids were so powerful it took multiple companies of clones to take one down and they were just not starting to hit mass production. All the Republic had was a much larger starting navy but eventually it would be overwhelmed as CIS forces crap out factories on the outer rim forcing the Republic thinner and thinner. Had the the Emperor not been purposefully sabotaging the CIS war effort to keep things even the attack on Coruscant would have been a success.

1 planet making clone troopers vs a nearly unlimited number of planets making droids. Droids that were becoming better than those clones every year.

We don't know, all we know is that he's already started scoring it. Most recent update is from February:

http://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi-score/

>Filmmaker Robert Meyer Burnett posted this to Twitter:

>LAST JEDI scoring update. Last Thursday was John Williams' 85th Birthday. He's conducting. Rian Johnson wants to use the score for editing.

>Usually the editing of a film is done with a temporary soundtrack in place in order to get a feel for the pacing and to provide some inspiration to the composer as to what the director is looking for musically. But in this case, Rian Johnson wants Williams to compose music that he can use in order to inspire the editing process. This gives Williams a little more freedom in his work, and it just might result in a more dynamic score.

>Williams was already said to be working on music for Star Wars: The Last Jedi back in December, but many assumed that his work at the time was composing music for the first teaser trailer. Every composer does work on the score before a cut of the film has been assembled, but not to the point that the director is using their music to edit the film. The score is usually one of the final pieces added to a movie, so having John Williams conducting music so far in advance is quite out of the ordinary, especially for Star Wars.

Let's be 100% clear. TFA was bad. As a spectacale and nostalgia bait it did it's job. You could enjoy eating your popcorn. The story was all over the place and things happened for 'reasons' but it was fine (past all the copy paste shit). Rogue One has loads of plot holes. The WORST maincharacter or even main cast member of the series; and then proceeds to use her to over shadow their two decent characters. The set pieces are pretty but don't make sense the moment you consider them and the story is inconsistent. Rogue One is a joke. If you liked it as a spectacle and that's all you want, fine. If you liked it, consider never posting ever again.

You'd better go collect him.

Nothing canon says that he discovered full on immortality. Basically all we have to go on is Palpatine's speech in RotS where he claims that Plagueis could create life and keep the ones he cared about from dying(but not himself).

I was just recommending a good book to Anon about a subject he's interested in, nothing more.

The anon who always seems to be around to post relevant Pablo tweets is unironically my favorite /swco/ poster.

I was seriously thinking the other day how many arguments were stopped, and how many anons have been clued up because he is always around to post Pablo's answers.

I wonder if he has some kind of archive or notepad document so he can easily grab the relevant links for each discussion

Just imagine if we had nobody doing that. Imagine if TweetAnon died or something, and nobody was bothering to post Pablo's snarky responses anymore. We'd be lost.
>>

Hey, you're the one seeing conflict everywhere.

>>
>>90991745
>Don't listen to the Mouse Canon Police
You brought up an implication of some kind of non-existent feud against non-canon material, while using "mouse" as a ridiculously goofy attempt at an insult.

You could have easily recommended the book without doing that.

That being said, canon is also important, both objectively, but also within the context of this discussion. Anon was clearly interested in Plagueis and his position in the canon series, especially considering he was responding to Pablo statements regarding Plageuis and Shnowch. Getting answers stemming from an EU source is only going to get you so far. It can be interesting and useful to see how the EU handled things, especially if the book is actually good. But in terms of answering Anon's actual questions, they can only really be treated as "what ifs".

But my main point here is, seriously, we have enough shitflinging and arguments in this place, dont throw around needless insults and jabs because that isn't going to get you the kinds of discussions you want either. Unless you're just here to shitpost, in which case I hope you enjoyed this lengthy (you)

>>90992333
If you lurk the thread for a day, you'll see there's actually much more hostility against canon stuff because of nostalgic reasons.

If you ask anybody who is enjoying canon stuff, 99% of the time, they'll also have enjoyed EU stuff too. It's not rocket science, we didn't magically only like Star Wars stuff from 2014 onwards.

People who shit on Legends usually do it to spite salty EU fanboys, rather than a genuine hatred of the EU itself. I know I do. Especially those mandofags.

But yes, obviously canon takes precedence over the EU. For all intents and purposes, the Plageuise novel IS fanfiction compared to the official stuff about the character. Wanting canon information is just the standard. >>90991223's "fan fiction" jab was clearly in response to the other guy jabbing at "mouse canon police", so don't pretend like he was being outlandish. It goes both ways.

People can be civil without resorting to jabs or full blown arguements though.

/swco/ I just realized something and I have a theory

So, Filoni was considering using the Vong in TCW, right? He was also considering using Thrawn. Thrawn also apparently knows Anakin Skywalker
Since Thrawn in Legends wanted to brace the Unknown Regions (particularly the Ascendancy) against the Vong, what if those TCW episodes were to deal with Thrawn teaming up with Anakin in the Unknown Regions to fight Vong, and that's the events (since writers can delve into cancelled TCW stories for integration in Canon a la Dark Disciple, Ahsoka novel, and the Siege of Mandalore) are going to be mentioned in the new Thrawn novel?

>In the former Sith’s face, there’s a look of disbelief, but surprisingly, not a trace of anger. He collapses and Obi-Wan cradles him, offering comfort in his last moments. Maul actually seems at peace, asking if Kenobi is protecting the Chosen One. The Jedi confirms it, and Maul speaks his last words. “He will avenge us.” It’s a beautiful moment for both characters. It illustrates Star Wars‘ great theme of compassion through Kenobi, and shows Maul has always understood that they’re all victims of the Emperor. The scene also conveys the tragedy of Maul, however: vengeance is a dead end, and that’s not what Kenobi is seeking.

>“I love the idea,” Witwer says. “I love the fact that he’s that close to redemption and he maybe doesn’t get there. He misses the point. But at the same time, through the cinematography, there’s a clarity that he has been, if not redeemed, forgiven.”

>Jidaigeki

>Jidaigeki (時代劇; lit. "era drama"?) is a genre of film, television, video game, and theatre in Japan. Literally meaning "period dramas", they are most often set during the Edo period of Japanese history, from 1603 to 1868. Some, however, are set much earlier—Portrait of Hell, for example, is set during the late Heian period—and the early Meiji era is also a popular setting. Jidaigeki show the lives of the samurai, farmers, craftsmen, and merchants of their time. Jidaigeki films are sometimes referred to as chambara movies, a word meaning "sword fight", though chambara is more accurately a subgenre of jidaigeki.

It's historical ignorance among most people that the Samurai are depicted without their horses. They were actually cavalry archers, and the katana evolved from a larger cavalry saber. Showing a guy without armor and just a sword is much more dramatic in a story, and speaks to a mans skill rather than his position as a member of a feudal warrior class. The shift to a warrior on foot came in the Sengoku Jidai period when guns became more important than cavalry, and afterward being a swordsman began shifting into kind of an art rather than a practical skill.

Knights and samurai are pretty interchangeable in terms of social roles. Knights actually describes what the Jedi are more accurately, as Europe had quite a number of religious orders of knights, founded and sponsored by the Catholic Church. The Knights Templar, Hospitaller and Teutonic are the most famous, and are basically what the Jedi are in a medieval setting.

The place of the Jedi Knights in the Republic is really strange. They are a religious order of warriors with magic powers who serve the legislative body of the galaxy and have massive amounts of material support from the government. That'd be like if the Knights Templar stuck around a few more centuries and became the field agents of the United Nations, and had the authority to go do just about anything in service of the government. I'd really like more KOTOR era stuff in the new canon to explain how the hell this came to be
>>

In Legends The Jedi were responsible for the founding of the Republic. They used diplomacy to gather the disparate space faring races in the core into a representative body to settle disputes and set galactic law. At the Time the Republic was limited to the core and the early inner rim. Over time, generations, more contact was made as more of the galaxy was explored, in part by Jedi who brought more worlds into the Republic. The Republic has also been defended by the Jedi for thousands of years.

A good comparison would be if Knights had been around early enough, with magical powers to unite the Roman Republic and kept that flame alive throughout the middle ages, then continued to preserve, fight for and protect the principles of representative government into the modern day. Or like if The founding Fathers were brought together by Knights Templar with magic powers (And if you believe the shit about the Masons being the Templars in their modern form then that might in fact be true)
>>
So how evil are the new TOR era Jedi going to be?

If Jedi and Sith= japanese with the Darksaber/Bane's armor/new temple designs, where does Kylo's/First Order's European knight theme (broadsword, chainmail weave, sword and board troopers) come from?
>>
>>90997770
Are they going away from the canon that the Jedi were always good, and the Sith were originally evil Jedi that got banished?

I'm not entirely sure that's a good idea.
>>
>>90997836
I'm pretty sure the Luke/Snoke/Kylo thing is going to involve the oldddd Jedi being something sort of bad, maybe conquerors
>>

>>
>>90997836
>Sith are evil Jedi

this is staying. hence why Snoke isn't Sith and why he has a bone to pick with Jedi

>Jedi were always good

I guarantee this is not
>>
>>90997770

Check the Darth Maul and Dr. Aphra comics.

There "normal" jedi at one point exclusively used Kylo Rens saber design, though with more stability and craftsmanship since Ben kind of sucks and used a fucked up crystal and left wires exposed while they didn't.

However at some point after that fact, the Jedi Order split off into multiple groups, with the only survivors being the "orthodox" jedi we follow.

Judging by his design, Tarre Vizsla lived at some point after Malachor, but joined the orthodox jedi.
>>
>>90997974
For Legends, like Republic, I think there were also several one-shots and minis like Jedi and General Grievous, etc. For canon, all we have so far is Son of Dathomir and Kanan.
>>
>>90998029
We know the mandos respect him, but I wonder if the Jedi regarded Tarre Vizsla as a respectable Jedi, or as more of a loose cannon.

He didn't understand how stand-alone spin-offs work and assumed that there was no reason to introduce a brand new cast of characters if they weren't going to tie into the new trilogy somehow. Why?

This seems like an awful, terrible idea. This is as shitty as all the hack comic book writers who thought Professor X being evil was cool, or that making the Guardians of the Galaxy evil was cool. It's the ultimate slash and burn storytelling. The unambiguously good characters/organization was evil all along! Well, that's shocking, and gets you through one story or two. But what happens afterwards? You've burned all your bridges. You can't go back now, because everything that was cool and impressive about the past was revealed to be a lie. And yet you still want to use the trappings of that past. So you basically have to have supreme cognitive dissonance, and very strongly separate individual characters from the institutions they represent, which is not at all easy to do.

Basically this is stupid on a profound level, from a storytelling perspective.

I guarantee you that 70% of those rumors are true

the Luke ones are almost 99% guaranteed seeing as there are pictures of the stuntwork and stuff

-Phasma comes back with a giant spear and most likely duels Finn

This should have happened like in TFA.

>It's somehow the most important planet in the galaxy.

this whole mess started there. okay, in orbit, but still.
>>
>>91001405
pretty sure she was just going to be some toyetic one-off but after she got popular before the movie came out it was too late and they wrote her a bigger role in TLJ in return
>>
>>91000789
>reputable shit
>MSW

good joke
>>
>>91001467
I not saying having a rivalry with Finn to give her a bigger role, but rather to shed more light on Finn and his character and something for him to do. Because other than running away until the end and getting beaten by Ben, there is not much to him.
>>
>>91001278
They had Nute Gunray as a prisoner for a little bit after TPM. I always assumed someone asked him at some point, "Hey, who was that red guy?"
>>
>>91001467
She talked about how her character was a role model, maybe her shit got cut and JJ cucked her because people showed interest. Look at what he did to the fucking racing flags

In the Aftermath books, Leia is in the government, but the Alderaanians in Exile don't have Senate representation yet. What is her position? I also noticed Bloodline never mentioned who her constituency was.
>>
>>91001699
Alderaan is like Mandalore, in that there's a planet with that name, but the name also covers all the other planets in that system. Our equivalent would be the Earth System, instead of the Solar System.
>>
>>91001588
i mean she's obviously supposed to be a "model" FO trooper
>>
>>91001762
But she talked about how she was a good character for girls. Why would she do that if her only scene is her getting binned?

if she's so badass, why did she job so fucking hard with finn?

>job
Anon it's time for you to unlearn that word, so you stop using it all the time incorrectly.

>>
>>91001982
"Jobbing" is usually used in terms of a fight happening and the "strong" one losing to the "new" one. Phasma and Finn did not have a fire fight, or a fist fight, or a dog fight or any kind of fight. Chewbacca is the one that did most of the work capturing, restraining and forcing Phasma to comply with the threat of violence.
>>

At least important ones make sense, like Coruscant as the capitol and Geonosis as where the heart of the CIS droid efforts were before they were double crushed.

It was already confirmed that it will be up on the app early.
>>

They fumbled the presentation of them hard.

Nothing besides seeing a handful of them and never a peep again. Only the most basic idea behind their structure gleamed. I guess we're supposed to assume they're all dead now or something even though that makes no sense.
>>
>>91002218
I stand corrected then.

Disregard my idiocy.
>>
>>91002221

I still say having the very first guy be the Grand Inquisitor was a bad move. There was no escalation when they moved from him to two jobbers who showed up to lose or draw every other episode.

It's nowhere near as silly as most of you tried to pretend it was. Simply being able to fly is dangerous.

Why is his lightsaber blade so lumpy?
>>
>>91002258
Yeah, they missed out. Should have captured Ezra at the start of the season or something as a great victory and then gets converted into Starkiller or something and fights the Rebels at the end. Not even sure if I'd like that, but it'd be better than what we got I think.

The Pantorans in question cause me to forgive the egregiousness of the rest of it.

He was instrumental in destroying Starkiller Base. I understand a deep cover sometimes has to give something up to gain trust, but that's one hell of a sacrifice.
>>
>>91002369
You know they're going to have to do something about Starkiller being a thing. maybe it was an old imperial project in the unknown regions and the FO made their point

I don't know if it's my favorite or if it's just one that came to mind real quickly, but the panel where after Darth Vader's slaughter of the sand people one survivor conclude's that he's a god or demon and hey all start worshiping him
>>
>>91002304

Yeah, but without establishing a villain as being a credible threat there's no tension.

The original Star Wars movie was a "kids movie" in the most obvious sense, but it literally opens with Vader and the Stormtroopers killing a bunch of rebels to establish themselves as credible to make an entrance. Then when we finally see them again like an hour later they kill off Obi-Wan and force our heroes to run away. Then when the TIE fighters attack the rebel fighters they kill almost everyone even before Vader arrives to finish the job.

That's what Rebels lacks. There's no weight to the empires actions because the rebels manage to win and blow up the enemy cruiser and kill a bunch of imperials every week. The original inquisitor had a decent entrance where he got to put on a show and school Kanan and Ezra but it immediatley went downhill from there since he failed so many times Tarkin had to give him a dressing down along with literally everyone else, and their replacements immediatley began jobbing after their one episode.

I understand the rebels need to win once in a while in a serial, and you can't have a war that's totally one sided, but the empire literally just makes the exact same mistakes every single episode to justify a half a dozen yahoos in a flying mobile home blasting half their fleet without reprisal or even signifigant injury.
>>
>>91002437
>muh tension
Are you the same shitter that complains about tension in all the other threads about TCW/Rebels that pop up on /co/?
>>
>>91002465
That's not an argument. He made a decent point.
>>
>>91002437

this is not anything new, the Empire keeps making the same mistakes in the films too

>no romantic comedy about those two

Opportunities were missed.
>>
Talkin about aftermath, I have a few gripes. Some technical, others storytelling.

Jas uses a slugthrower, a traditional projectile weapon with an optic scope, but bashes people with the barrel of it and never has to do maintenance on the gun. Seems like there are no downsides to primitive guns.

in the finally, a single starhawk takes down a SSD with its tractor beam. Granted, the book says starhawks have a retarded strong tractor beam, but the captain of the ship fires all batteries, pilots the ship, then engages tractorlock all while her crew of many many many people are all off of the ship. Like, is the ship small enough to be fully functional with a single person on board, but still large enough to take down a SSD. Fuck that triggers me. What where all those other people doing on the starhawk, where they just there for affirmative action?

Jom Barell gets cucked every sec of every day and cant seem to get anything right. Why is a highly trained comando protag losing every fight and getting outsmarted at like every turn? Why is he here?

Why does everyone constantly miss Sinjir? Nora actually talks about missing him before her own son and husband. WTF?
>>
God i hope that script is a giant fake news, cause it's full of bad writing

Also: You'd think they would have reduced the MerySueness of Rey in this movie, but she does things like ordering Luke around and fixing his hand
>>
>>91002775
Hand fixing could be a neat bonding moment. Not like he can't do it himself but the point is the gesture.

Bossy Rey is stupid Rey
>>
If Snoke is so fucking powerful and in Rens head, how come he only uses that power on him?
>>
>>91000789

spoilers that have been known since last year.

they already know, retard.
>>
>>91002837
Anon, you don't want to know why she does it, but i'll tell you anyways (actually it's not that bad)

Luke loses to Kylo who is about to kill him but Rey saves him, then Finn and Lando saves Rey
Oh, the hand is burned by Kylo's dark side lightning, making Luke unable to fight back fast enough to parry his final strike, then Rey enters the fight
>>
>>91002943
That's fucking retarded

Luke either needs to be against using the force at all (because it's lost him everything) or he needs to fucking wreck Rens shit
>>
>>91002979
Forgot to add: Have him turn down Rey. Please.

that'd be more interesting than her being a mary sue
>>
>>91002979
Yeah, i was hoping him to be slightly under Snoke's level, but still singlehandling the autist that is his nephew
>>
>>91002258
Nah, if it was Kallus it would seem so formulaic.

Level 1: Imperial Grunt

Level 2: Imperial Higher-up

Level 3: Inquisitor/Admiral

Level 4: Tarkin

Etc. I was glad that the Inquisitor and the villains have been introduced in this fashion because it keeps one guessing about the Empire's next move and doesn't make the Empire so bland as to become this "I'll get you next time Phoenix Squadron" series.

You could argue that it's like that, but honestly the Rebellion had to start somewhere. All of these prissy bitches who expect hyper-competency and UNSPEAKABLE VIOLENCE from the Empire are still looking at the Sequel Trilogy and expecting The Clone Wars.

I can't blame them because the CIS was amazing but this is a completely different scenario.

Yeah... i suppose you already know the answer to that

But he does that, at first

But later

He feels the force in her and says that she have the potential to become a powerful jedi, even stronger than him

Really that first part of the script was something i dont want to see on screen, Rey treats Luke without any respect, except the few times Luke made her lower her know-it-all head
I suppose Mark's acting will add more of that moments, at least i hope
