That's because breather issues require there to be something of a status quo, and even if the Outback is a new one, it's still a status quo.
In fact, light, no stakes issues are kind of vital to the establishment of a status quo- it lets the main characters have a life that isn't just pure calamity after calamity.

Why is none of the drama and power struggle of Limbo still a thing since Illyana was brought back to life? There was like that one storyline with Limbo where Pixie ended up getting her Soul Knife, but like absolutely nothing since. And the stepping disks never seem to travel through time or miss anymore, either.

On another note. Reading this makes me depressed at the state of Marvel. Not even are the current stories suffering but Like god damn so many shitty new characters existing out there are being pushed. Which like I don't mind at all but they are all done so badly. Just take a look at the character push of the 2005-2007 era
Amaedeus Cho, Anya Corozan, kid sentinel or runaways are loads more interesting than the current crop. Even interesting ones like say Kamala or Kate Bishop are being executed so badly that its depressing.

IIRC when Magik was officially brought back, they made a big deal about having Magik clean house and basically kill off pretty much every major rival in Limbo that could make trouble for her. Which was one of the main reasons she was put in a prison cell in the Gillien Uncanny X-Men run, as she manipulated the New Mutants into helping her kill off a bunch of elder gods that were Belasco's masters when they made a move to reclaim Limbo after Magik killed Belasco.
Right now, the only remaining threats to Magik in Limbo are a timelost version of Maddie Pryor/Cable/Nightcrawler from the Inferno Kingdom in Secret Wars; when Reed rebuilt the Marvel Multiverse, they didn't return to their universe but were stranded in Limbo by Reed.

Scott and Wolverine were away from the team when Rogue joined.
The only reason Rogue was allowed to stay on the team is that Xavier outright called Storm/Nightcrawler/Shadowcat/Carol Danvers/Colossus's bluff when they threatened to quit if Rogue was allowed to stay/join the X-Men.
The main X-Men basically backed down upon such a threat but Carol basically said "fuck you" and left to join the Starjammers.
Wolverine point blank, in his inner monologue, stated he wanted to murder Rogue the moment he found out Xavier let her join the team and even then, it too Rogue nearly having a hole burned through her torso while shielding Mariko from a death laser, along with Rogue being briefly turned into a statue when she stole Colossus's power so the Morlock Healer could save Colossus' life after her former teammates in the Brotherhood fused Colossus into a statue as part of a plot to forcibly remove Rogue from the X-Men

The only people who hate the Outback era is Marvel editorial. It's widely considered one of the last "great" eras of the X-Men but the "Not Mah Byrne/Claremont X-Men" editorial shits hate it because no Kitty and Kurt

I have really found memories of this issue; it and the issue of Classic X-Men where Magneto fights the AN-AD X-Men for the first time were my very first X-Men comics.
