And we're back, just like the Five Musketeers!

So sorry for keeping you guys waiting for so long, I just needed a breather after how hectic things got during the last part of 2016, but now I'm fully recharged and ready to continue.

But enough blogposting, let's read some fucking comics!

Peter Rasputin: Comic Book Artist
Somehow, I don't think that ongoing would take off.
>>
would this be a good time to jump on? I like the x-men, mostly through other media, but have only really read Morrison's work.
I found other stuff too hard to get in to, mostly because of all the various adjectives on different teams. I did find two very large torrents recently though.

Alternatively, you can use the Mega that I was too dumb to include in the OP. I recommend starting with Vol. 2, unless you REALLY dig 60's comics.

Glad to see you back x-anon! I've been on my own journey through the Claremont era, post-inferno. Right now at the part Jubilee first shown up and saving Wolve from Deathstrike and Marauders. Plus Psylock getting his shut ninja costume.

As a kid I read the 90's x-men stuff all the time but never read any 80's stuff so it's interesting seeing how the characters came to that point.

The early issues were a chore, especially with the amount of words they loved to cram into each page. It took me forever to read vol. 1.

Having said that though, I really enjoyed myself once they introduced Polaris and the sentinels.

Good times for sure.

Also thanks for the mega, OP.
>>
>>90353195
Inferno's good. Maybe not out of context, and maybe it didn't need to be an event that affected other characters than the mutant teams, but the story itself does the best that Claremont and Simonson could do to salvage a bunch of editorial bullshit that got heaped on them. All because of Jean Grey "needing to come back."

The panties exist only to make her look lewd, though.

They serve no purpose and the design would probably work without them.
But they are super hot. They'd probably do some killer cameltoe on a cosplayer.

Gotta say I was a bit disappointed by #226's lead-in. I thought a big hole in the sky + "X-Men will die" would be something more interesting than generic timequack stuff. Some Apocalypse-related events or something.

Spider-Woman left in 1986 Avengers Annual, which was fixing bullshit Claremont did by having her join FF in the first place.

(Claremont wrote the bulk of the original Spider-Woman series, and hated Julia and hated Jum Shooter for creating her as a replacement for Jessica. So first chance he had he put her on Freedom Force and made her a villain after Shooter basically told him to write an issue of Uncanny with Julia (Shooter didn't give any instruction for HOW Claremont was to use her, which was Claremont's defense for doing so).

She only appeared in FF one more time after that (in X-Factor #8-9) before Shooter realized what was going on and had the Avengers writers have her betray Freedom Force.

Art Adams created Spiral not Nocenti.

Adams created a bunch of henchmen designs for Mojo, one of which was Spiral. Nocenti liked Spiral's design enough that she instructed Adams that she was using Spiral as Mojo's top henchman.

In the original Longshot series, Spiral was just generic henchwoman. Claremont gave her an actual personality and set up the plot point that Spiral has a vendetta against Longshot, which he never got around resolving. Fabian Niceiza eventually settled on Spiral being Ricochet Rita (Longshot's love interest from the Longshot mini), sent back in time by Mojo to fuck with Longshot.

Maddie was lured down to San Fran by Mr Sinister between UXM #201/X-Factor #1 and #206 (#206 has Maddie, having been shot several times by Scalphunter, being rushed into the ER just as the X-Men were being forced to flee San Fran lest Freedom Force arrest them)

Maddie was in a coma until #215 (which has a flashback sequence showing the Marauders as her attackers) and reunited with the X-Men in 221-222.

>>90376853
The entire Fall of the Mutants storyline, X-Men-wise, was a huge rush last minute replacement storyline after Alan Moore decided to be a shit and forced Marvel to make Claremont jetison pretty much ALL of his original plans for #200-227.

(Fall of the Mutants was supposed to be a direct sequel to Days of Future Past/stealth remake of Jasper's Warp. Jasper teams up with Nimrod to reality warp Manhattan into the Manhattan of the DOFP timeline so that they can wipe out all mutantkind. Forge/Storm's stuff still happened in terms of Forge restoring Storm's power and shit, but in the original premise, with Rachel a prisoner of Mojo and Shadowcat injured by Nimrod in the mutant massacre, Forge is the only person who realizes Jasper is planning to warp reality and he and Storm end up reuniting right before hell breaks lose and Manhattan gets warped.

Adversary was created as a replacement for Jasper/Nimrod and supposed, was originally intended for a planned Demon Bear sequel that never happened in New Mutants)
