And we're back!
Time to find out what those crazy kids were doing while the main team got fucking killed. Hopefully this time I'll be able to finish the storytime tonight!
PREVIOUSLY ON X-MEN:
>>90350171
Hail X-Anon
Also, tonight a New Mutant DIES!!
Oh, and here's the Mega:
https://mega.nz/#F!5kJFCBjJ!TG-NaDE3TdmkZ_uVOkD3eg
>>90426593
Hi anon!
So yeah, this is kind of a weird plot...
>The Right
Ah, a communist supervillain! And here I thought those were out of vogue by the 70's.
>>90426560
Heyho.
I'm much more invested in this end, because I've actually read most of New Mutants. A lot of this era of X-Men proper is a void to me, and the cast there doesn't help much.
That last panel is neat.
>>90426934
While the plot itself is more on the... odd side, these are pretty important issues for the NM cast.
>>90426906
Shit, you have been away from this a while if you've forgotten the name of Hodge's Friends of Humanity.
A-ha! Saved by Mickey D's!
>>90427001
And we get Blevins straight-out-of-lewd cartooning style.
>>90427034
I'm just being a cheeky cunt. But yes, I actually did have a short lapsus and was too late to rectify that post. Whoops
Haha, poor 'Lock got flattened.
>Dadneto will never be back
M-maybe Bunn's Blue will be like that?
Aw, you've gone and jinxed it now!
>>90427247
I think he doesn't get to be Dadneto without those horrifyingly Jewish eyebrows.
Even Doug's trying to help, bless him.
>>90427458
Blevins' Mags is quite the sight, yeah. I dig it though, definitely an alternative to house style.
Now that's an idea for a comic, Bat-Guy!
>>90427509
That rock speaks the language of concussions!
So how's everyone doing tonight?
>>90427722
>So how's everyone doing tonight?
Good and you.
Oh goody, now we're getting a theological discussion!
>>90427722
Angry at that Gabby Rivera wants an LGBT Power Pack thread.
Tired. Hoping I don't get another nosebleed after the one I had yesterday made me feel like shit.
>>90427801
>I don't get another nosebleed after the one I had yesterday made me feel like shit.
Feel better anon.
Another nice last panel.
>>90427758
Pretty well, actually! Still developing that one thing.
>>90427843
>Pretty well, actually! Still developing that one thing.
Nice
>>90427801
Get better, anon!
>Angry at that Gabby Rivera wants an LGBT Power Pack thread.
Yeah... I saw that and I ain't touching it with a ten-foot pole. Yikes.
>The worst is yet to come!
If this were a worse comic, man oh man, would I have a field day with that.
>>90427817
>>90427914
It's okay. I've had a nosebleed problem since I was a kid. It's just the older I get the more out of it I start to feel after them.
>>90427976
Well, let's be fair. This WILL be a worse comic within 2 years.
And then it will be X-Force.
Blevins draws great pissed off people.
>>90428025
The Smile suits are a great creepy visual.
Like Sentinels if they were in Playskool colours.
>You're not brave
>MEN are braveSorry not sorry
>>90428029
Well damn, hope you're okay, anon.
>>90428093Is it bad I like early Liefeld?
>>90428125
I've seen that it was not a particularly well liked art style at the time, but personally I love it.
It's super expressive, the girls are pretty, and it suits the lighter tone Simonson adopted leading into the upcoming swerve.
>>90428272
>Is it bad I like early Liefeld? He was Great in hawk and dove
>>90428272
The bigger he got, the worse he got.
I think he may have had a better inker on New Mutants than he did at EXTREME STUDIOS. I think once you're big enough to be in jeans commercials, you stop letting people critique you.
>>90428144
Oh yeah, absolutely.
>>90427554
>the ground is poison
I remember that game when I was a wee lad. Jumping around the room on the coffee table and the sofa cushions, good times!
Rahne's hybrid form is looking hot as hell during Blevin's run. That was when as a 10 year old...I waifu'd her.
>>90428273
Man, people back then HATED Mignola's X-Force issue. Point is, fuck people back then.
>>90427788
Bump for the Bump-God AWWWWKKKKk
>>90428307
Underrated run desu, even though I hate Hank Hall.
>>90428403
Yeah, it's clearly a George Lucas-type situation. Of course, he also got too bit too soon, dude was like a superstar in his twenties.
>>90428656
>Underrated run desu,
This
>>90428433
It was "the ground is lava" for me.
Put on those 3-D glasses, kids. Stillborn fetuses coming right atcha!
Jay-sus, this is brutal.
>>90428656
Rahne is pure you lousy half-men. No rape for you. Especially the snek.
>Of course, he also got too bit too soon, dude was like a superstar in his twenties.
Yeah, he was like what, 19 when he started? And on New Mutants, which was feeding on that hot, X-Men heat? And then he got all the credit for X-Force? That's a soupy mix of ego boost right there.
>>90428704
I played "there IS no ground". Too many He-Man eps with bottomless pits.
Illyana is 2cool.
Those eyebrows are fucking out of control.
>>90428858
>Illyana is 2cool.
Second Best x-Waifu
>>90426560
That's kind of disturbing when the villain hijacks the comic roster in the upper corner.
FUCKING STAR WARS REFERENCES
>>90428917
Who's your X-wayfoo, 'anon?
>>90428746
Wait is Rahne stronger than Cannonball Blastin'?
Fucking hell man, leave those poor fetuses alone.
Well, that's one sentence I thought I'd never type.
>>90429011
>Who's your X-wayfoo, 'anon?
Controversial outside of comicsEvolution JeanBut Domino is good.
>>90429054
Ah, wrong comment for the wrong page.
>>90429058
Well, I can't say I saw that one coming, 'anon!
>>90428954
I'm sure 'Lock would be making Magnum references if they were more appropriate.
>>90429143
>Well, I can't say I saw that one coming, 'anon!
Yours
Question: are there basically four X-Men factions now? There's
> The 9 who died to seal Naze, plus Forge
> New Mutants
> X-Factor
> and then Kurt and the rest.
>>90429053
Apparently!
>>90429143
I for one, am enjoying this delusional Dollar Store version of the High Evolutionary.
>>90429184
Yeah, and Kurt and the rest will get their own series soon.
>>90429163
We actually haven't met her yet! It's Blink.
>>90426560
Hi X-Anon
Quick question?
How far are you from storytiming Morrison run?
>>90429294
>We actually haven't met her yet!It's Blink.
She is cute.
>>90429264
Hah! That's one way of looking at it.
>>90429184
Yes.Excalibur spins off of this event.
>>90428656
Doug is lying his ass off. I was 10 when I first read that, so I didn't catch it. He's totally avoiding telling Rahne that the beast-guy is asking if she wants to go to Poundtown.
>>90429205
Oh geeze, and the Animator wants in Rahne's pants too.
>>90429314
Oof. A couple of real life years from now if we're being optimistic. Things get pretty crazy in the 90's so we get to read a LOT of stuff.
>>90429333
Da cutest!
Since we are doing FotM New Mutants, it should be noted that Cypher only died because Brett Blevins decided to be a little shit and repeatedly lied and manipulated to Louis Simonson that Cypher was the most hated character ever created and needed to be killed off, because Blevin didn't want to draw a character who had no cool powers to draw and had to "hide behind a tree" during fight scenes.....
>>90429294
Winick! When he's good, he's good. When he isn't... oh boy.Did anyone really want Necrosha to bring 616 Blink back to life? I know it was a common request during Generation X, but she was so overshadowed by AoA Blink by the time they actually brought her back...
Ah yes, the universal language of violence.
>>90429402
>Things get pretty crazy in the 90's so we get to read a LOT of stuff.
Solo books and minis all around. YOU GET A SOLO. AND YOU GET A SOLO. EVERYBODY GETS A SOLO!
And that's discounting all the sales boosting Wolverine crossovers.
>>90429446
Behind the scenes stuff like that is always a riot.
>>90429447I did, actually, mostly because I knew people were barely going to use AoA Blink if at all after Exiles ended. Granted, the same could be said of 616 Blink so...
I also feel like DnA did good work with her.
>>90429377
Fucking shit! So many creepers in this chapter I was unaware of when I first read this series!
Oh shit!
>>90429569
The worst is all the Marvel Presents stories with Wolverine. Like, goddamn man, dude practically had two ongoings.
>>90429596
Danger, Danger, Doug Ramsey!! Death sounds like Budda-budda-budda!
>>90429596
>We didn't need your sword after all.
Apparently grabbing Kevin Matchstick's didn't hurt, though.
>>90429691
HA! So glad we're finally getting an ending after all this time.
>>90429402
Eh alright
Then how far we are from Tantra?
>>90429852
That's even further away!
Kind of weird for a mutant to call herself a "mutie", but I guess that's just how Illyana rolls.
Alright, ass kicking time!
This is awfully meta in light of this post >>90429446
>>90429974
I really like that use of the teleportation disc
(meanwhile, in Limbo, S'ym got bullets in his purple ass)
Shit.
>>90429402
>Da cutest!
>>90429446
WTF I hate Blevins now!
There's just something really rough about dying while apologizing after getting scolded that I really like, I dunno.
>>90430131
F.
I eagerly anticipate Scott Lobdell half undoing this (and another thing) in like 2(3?) years our time.
>This isn't the last of meeeeeeeee
>>90429921
For real! What a shame
I fucking love that elephant.
oh no this is sad!
super glad x-threads are back. ordered vol 2 of Morrison's run and it finally arrived today. flipped through and read some Xorn stuff.
>Illyana wants to be hardcore but her friends won't let her
>>90430500
humpf...
>>90430542
So which one of them Animates names themself Doug?
Uh-oh, you made her mad.
Yeah, you knew this was coming.
Oh thank god. No offense, Bird-brain, but you're better in small doses.
>>90430619
Bump
>>90430713
That's some serious lighting for her Darkchilde design.
Has S'ym ever reappeared since Queseda? I feel his stogies were even more character vital than Wolverine or Howard the Duck's.
>>90430500
I wonder what 90s Illyana would have been like. She got out before Liefeld et al took over and before the writing teams transitioned to the 90s new blood
>>90430923
Lots of chains and spikes I'd wager. Like Spawn, but cooler
Damn.
>>90430997
When did the Post-Massacre team take that picture? And why?
Aww
>>90431175
Reminder that most of the time Dani's power is as useless against bullets as Doug's was.
I don't usually talk about /tv/ shit, but what are y'all's thoughts on the New Mutants movie anyway?
Magneto's reaction speaks volumes about his character development.
>>90431301
Cautiously optimistic
>>90431301
Well, I've only watched 4/10 of the X-Men movies, so I'm not really in any rush for it.
I hope it's another Less Singery one, because Singer coming back and making everything leather again was why I lost interest in DoFP.
There been any casting announcements yet? Will Pierce Brosnan cameo?
>>90431382
Yeah, I'm hoping for the best, especially after Logan, which I hear is great.
>>90431390
I think some girl from Game of Thrones is Rahne? I'm not sure if that was just a rumor or what though.
Well, this won't end well.
>Carol_Danvers_complaining_about_Magneto_comparing_everything_to_Hitler.jpg
Alright, that's it for tonight. Next time: X-Factor! See you all then!
>>90431586
>Alright, that's it for tonight. Next time: X-Factor! See you all then!
Thank you
>>90431545
Well, he's hardly giving these kids credit.
None of the New Mutants really had pleasant, naivity forming childhoods, except MAYBE Bobby, and even he got a nice bit of racist blowback despite being rich as Hellfire.
>>90431586
G'night.
See you then.
All of those costumes are awful but Illyana's. Dani's is a marginal maybe.
>>90431513
Bump
>>90428451
I'm surprised any kid could wife Rahne with how Christian-y she was.
>>90430131
I can't blame them for killing off Doug at the end of an arc dealing heavily with language translation stuff. I guess they didn't want that one parody comic becoming the character's future.
>>90432780
I love how slutty she becomes later
Like in New Mutants vol 2
>>90430923
Liefeld actually did a redesign for Magik, as Simonson planned to bring her back before Bob Haras fired her.
The redesign appeared in New Mutants Annual #6 as far as a pin-up for the originally planned revamped roster Simonson and Liefeld was going towards before Xtinction Agenda and Harras's homo-crush on Liefed forced Simonson out.
Basically a white and black jumpsuit similar to what Wolfsbane wore when Liefeld redesigned her costume, along with her hair in a ponytail.
>>90431130
Between issues #219 and #220.
There is a rather large gap between the issue where Havok joined and Storm left to go get her powers back, in terms of both the Fantastic Four vs X-Men and Avengers Vs X-Men, Uncanny X-Men Annual #10, the Spider-Man/Wolverine special where Ned Leeds dies and Web of Spider-Man #29 taking place between those two issues.
>>90430774
Illyana ishot
>>90434885
Didn't have the pic at the time of the posting, but here is Liefeld's proposed costume redesign for Magik and the roster we would have gotten had the famed Mutant War storyline ran instead of Xtinction Agenda (Cable, Rictor, Sunspot, Wolfsbane, Warlock, Magik, Skids, Cannonball, Shatterstar, and Boom Boom)
>>90435610
Fuck it....
Here's the pic
I miss Warlock.
>>90435650
Everyone rags on Liefeld's feet but his crotches are way worse
>>90438798
The X-Men line seemed so healthy pre-NOW, when most of the books didn't revolve around the same 10 characters.
>>90440240
Let's be honest: That entire thing is a mess, from the tiny triangle feet, to the enormous bizarre crotches, to the unfortunate breasts on Magma and Magik, to Cable's squashed looking torso, and the unifying capstone of legs that were copied from Art Adams but vertically stretched by 100%.
Is Sunspot supposed to be just tall enough to suck Cable's coax? Probably not.
>>90440919
That's Skids not Magma.
The original plan was that, during Mutant Wars, when all of the big bad mutants were trying to kill each other to determine who would lead the evil mutants, Cable/New Mutants would find Skids and Rusty but that Rusty would opt to stay with the MLF. Skids would go back to the New Mutants.
>>90441056
Mutant Wars? What the hell is Mutant Wars?
>>90441142
The original planned storyline that was supposed to cross over between X-Men, X-Factor, Excalibur, and New Mutants and reunite the X-Men/wrap up the Legion takes over Muir Island plotline.
Key plot details for it remain sketchy over the years, but it hinged upon the original plans for Days of Future Present, which got changed when Mutant Wars got spiked.
Something really really bad was supposed to happen in the original plans for Days of Future Present, something that triggers a "Mutant War" where all of the various X-Men villains gather under a single banner but not before agreeing to duke it out to see who would lead the new super group of evil mutants.
Apocalypse vs Magneto vs Hellfire Club vs Legion vs Reavers vs Stryfe and the MLF. The X-Men would reunite as a result, Marvel Girl and Colossus would switch teams (Jean joining the X-Men full time while Colossus joins X-Factor); Skids would reunite with the New Mutants while Rusty stays behind with the MLF/Stryfe.
Excalibur would have liberated Muir Island from Legion/free Polaris (who would rejoin the X-Men and get a new code name to go with her new empath/superwoman powers) and Mr Sinister would, instead of fighting in the Mutant Wars, create the Gambit persona to infiltrate the X-Men for protection and safety.
>>90427722
>dat Rahne
>>90426560
I just want everyone to know in advance, I fucking hated Bird Boy. He did nothing. He brought nothing. He was nothing. And I've never been too keen on Blevins art, either.
>>90427001
And Doug continues to show his mutant power is being useless.
>>90427554
When Rahne turns into a full dog, does she grow more nipples?
>>90429053
Sam doesn't have any super strength. All he has going for him in blasting mode is mass, momentum and protection from impact trauma.
>>90443574
MORE DIRTYPILLOWS!
>>90426560
This storyline broke my faith in Marvel. I used to buy every mutant title, until this. and the next summer crossover even "hellfire" got me to quit Marvel completely. cancelled all my subscriptions, I'll buy single issues now but that's it.
>>90443423
>And I've never been too keen on Blevins art
Blasphemy.
>>90432780
she was pure and innocent
(then she fuked a dog, fucked her student and ate her dad)
>>90443604
An indestructible mass going at flight capable speed seems like it would impact harder than Rahne's low level super strength, though.
>>90447121
He needs to accelerate and build up momentum first. Him just punching you wouldn't be as hard as a punch from Rahne, but him slamming into you at mach speed would hit like an artillery round.
Alternatively Doug is just saying that to make her feel better because Rahne is having a really, really bad day and needs a little scrap of self confidence.
>>90446592
Warren Ellis developed her character to the point that she was fine in pursuing a relationship with Douglock, having a pint with the team at the pub, and confronting Reverend Craig to finally put her past to rest.
Then Mystique punked and depowered her, killed her mom, her boyfriend's personality resets, and her character has been a never ending series of painful events.
Being a Rahne fan is suffering.
>>90448227
>Warren Ellis developed her character to the point that she was fine in pursuing a relationship with Douglock, having a pint with the team at the pub, and confronting Reverend Craig to finally put her past to rest.
You're ignoring the whole "brainwashed by Genosha" bit and her stint in X-Factor though. Peter David lightened her personality a fair bit away from the religiosity she showed in New Mutants.
>>90448318
I thought she was on Val Cooper's X-Factor before she joined Excalibur?
Oh man. I'm discussing the team history of a D-lister.
I have grown old.
>>90448388
>I thought she was on Val Cooper's X-Factor before she joined Excalibur?
She was. Which is I said 'ignoring' because that all happened before Ellis ever touched her.
>>90426560
Why those girls look like they are being fucked?
>>90448634
Because Blevins is incorrigible.
>>90427801
>>90427914
>LGBT Power Pack
Please no. Vapid valley girl literally rainbows Julie was the worst. She's a shy closet nerd who only wants to be normal and reads Dragonriders of Pern on the down low. That's her character. Her developing sexuality should be handled, if at all, in passing.
>>90428451
She was my kid age waifu to.
>>90428786
>>90428746
Louise Simonson never held back on traumatizing children. Power Pack was surprisingly brutal at times as well.
>>90430500
>No Illyana, don't shoot him
>She sends him to not-hell to be gang raped by demons
I think you made it worse Rahne. The bullet would have been mercy.
>>90431382
Me to. They said Stranger Things is going to be an influence and that it takes place in the eighties. But I'm worried about it taking place "in continuity" with the other movies. Does this mean most of the cast is going to be killed off between movies like in First Class?
>>90429654
The first batch of MCP Wolverine stories drawn by Buscema are God tier. One of my favorite X books.
>>90448677
another proof that Illyana is not lesbian: she is able to focus on the map
>>90441353
That sounds incredible. I'd love an alternate universe miniseries where that happens.
Sort of like how X-Men Forever, X-Factor Forever, and New Mutants Forever were the "if Claremont/Simonson continued" AUs.
I'd read the shit out of the "Mutant War" story, if someone wrote it based on those specs and the then-current status quo.
>>90453030
But X-Men Forever sucked ass
>>90430774
And there's the boner.
>>90455029
New Mutants Forever was literally an unredeemable pile of dog shit. Basically a New Mutants vs Red Skull story that no real bearing on whatever it was planned by Claremont.
X-Men Forever had potential but Claremont fucked up huge with regards to no fucking editor hand holding him and keeping his shit straight. Storm being replaced with a kid version because Claremont was pissy he had to age her back up should have been vetoed, and Kitty/Kurt should have been banned and Claremont only allowed to feature them if he was going to resolve the Sat-Yr-9 storyline.
Also, keep him from derailing the entire book via engaging in Civil War bashing and radically changing shit just because he could (blinding Sabretooth, turning Rogue into Nightcrawler, pretending Cable never existed). Also, they should have forced Claremont to go with the planned "Wolverine's mid-life Crisis" plan he was planning when "evil/dead" Wolverine got vetoed. Wolverine suddenly getting sloppy and dealing with the fact that he was no longer hot shit would have been far more appealing, especially if they went the route of having Gambit as a jerk-ass rival to Wolverine, bragging about how he's better than Logan and fucking Wolverine's BFF Storm.
That said, X-Factor Forever was the only good Mutant Forever book, and that was due to Simonson actually giving a shit and doing her best to bring her original vision of the Twelve saga to life without fucking shit up and ignoring shit because she could
>>90443574
I guess she would.
More importantly, it's hinted her human side is prudish but her wolf side is actually an enormous slut.
>>90435650
Shatterstar is bae
