It's the high collar. If you absolutely want to avoid that impression and keep the collar you have to go more sci-fi on it. The new 52 costume was shit but that's probably the reason why they made it look so bulky, to cut down on the militaristic impression.

The Kryptonian civilization once spanned hundreds of worlds, their technology and knowledge unrivaled in their corner of the galaxy. Kryptonians had long since advanced to a point where technology and biology were indistinguishable, making them virtually immortal and omnipotent in the eyes of less developed races. Over time they grew overconfident, and wished to introduce their technology to undeveloped worlds, in direct violation of the most important rule of the galactic community: the Omega Law.

In an attempt to assimilate the natives of the planet Mars, Krypton finally gained the attention of Colu, enforcer of the Omega Law, and was marked for extermination. A Kryptonian Scientist named Jor-El, specializing in passively and remotely observing nearby Earth, witnessed this and rapidly set a plan forward to save his infant son, Kal-El, from their fate. By sending him in a conventional rocket toward the backwater planet Earth, he guaranteed Kal-El’s safety from Colu. The rocket took over a thousand years to reach the planet, and upon reaching the surface, restructured Kal-El’s body so he would appear as a human.

Raised by simple farmers, Kal-El (now called Clark Kent) eventually learned of his heritage when examining a recorded message from his rocket. His father informed him of his fate, and that he must never dominate the planet with his immense power, as it would warp the fate of all life on Earth. Not content to passively observe humanity, though, Clark decides to inspire others through his actions as Superman.

Superman has declared that he fights for those who cannot defend themselves, owing no allegiance to a particular government (though still obeying their laws). He has particularly targeted corporate corruption and the military-industrial complex as enemies of human progress, his most prominent opponent being billionaire industrialist Lex Luther and his company, LexCorp.

Since antiquity there had been a remote Mediterranean island, Themyscira, inhabited by near-mythical women, often called Amazons. They mastered many arts of combat, but also had a knowledge of mysterious crafts regarded by outsiders as “magic.” Over time their numbers dwindled, but they created a special keeper of their island, a living statue whom they named Diana. Over a thousand years later, long after the last of the Amazons had died out, Diana remained. Her vigil was finally interrupted by the plane crash of an American pilot, Steve Trevor. Taking pity on him and nursing him back to health, Diana decided that the “world of men” was too fragile and needed protecting, or at the very least investigating.

>>90449205
Origin: Born with a degenerative nervous system, Victor Stone nevertheless became a technological savant and eventually overcame his disability with cybernetics of his own design. Having always been obsessed with human enhancement, he instantly became enamored when news of a “Superman” circulated the world. In an attempt to win the favor of the newly formed Justice League, he proceeded to hack into their systems and even physically challenge them to prove his worth. Despite being ultimately defeated, Victor was accepted as a member and serves as their “IT guy.”

Powers: Cyborg possesses higher than average human strength, the ability to connect himself to and to control most computer systems, and a greatly enhanced intellect. He also possesses an impressive (though not always fully functioning) array of personal armaments.

Notes: Cyborg’s current origin (troubled teen who gets in an accident) seemed played out, so I went the technophile angle, which I think is more relevant. It also places a more positive light on Cyborg’s prostheses, as the original origin has a very antiquated “Darth Vader” vibe to it. Here I’ve basically based Cyborg off of Richard Ayoade’s character Moss from The IT Crowd, making him much geekier and emphasizing his intelligence over brute strength. When you’re on a superhero team with the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman, having a gun hand isn’t your greatest attribute. With that in mind, my Cyborg is valued more for his technical skills and madcap ingenuity.

Origin: Thousands of years ago, there existed a civilization of changelings who inhabited Mars. Unaware of greater galactic affairs, they were contacted by a Kryptonian ship wishing to advance them with their immense technology. This was in violation of the Omega Law, and both civilizations were immediately doomed to extermination. While this occurred, a single Martian was accidentally teleported to the present time, on Earth, by an experimental teleporter in LexCorp labs. Despite this unusual arrival, LexCorp did not believe him to be an alien but a mutated version of John Jones, the astronaut they were attempting to teleport to Mars. There the Martian was kept for several years before being rescued by Superman.

Inspired by Superman’s heroics, the Martian took on the name Manhunter and vowed to bring justice to Lex Luthor and others who abuse their power.

Powers: "John Jones,“ like all his kind, can change his physical form at will, though it takes some effort to keep any shape that isn’t his natural one. He is only limited by the amount of matter in his own body. Using this, he can alter his density to become lighter than air, turn invisible and even "phase” through solid matter.

Notes: I removed most of the Martian Manhunter’s powers and focused on shapeshifting, since his other abilities are covered thoroughly by Superman and the rest of the Justice League. This version is also much less trustworthy of human beings, and with his special skill acts as the League’s detective and infiltrator. Visually I went with something more gangly, and with an outfit that he made himself to mimic Superman. He’s explicitly meant to look awkward and out of place. I like John being more alien and focused on simply understanding the world around him. The first Earthlings he really encounters are all heroes so he thinks “Well, I guess I’ll assimilate into this ‘super’ culture."

>>90449266
Origin: Oa is a planet that stands apart from the galactic community in that its leaders take great interest in underdeveloped civilizations. So great is their concern that, in violation of the Omega Law, they secretly send devices of significant power to backwater worlds that allows a single individual of utmost character to defend their planet from existential threats. Upon its arrival to Earth, the device chose a young animator named Midori Ota for her creativity and strength of will. While she eventually embraced this new power, Midori does not realize this "green lantern’s” origins or why she must truly wield it.

Notes: The only significant visual change is the removal of the ring. I did this partly because I think a visually central source of power fits with the symmetry of the outfit better, but more importantly I wanted a device that was more universal and would make sense with an interplanetary effort to empower multiple species. It also cuts out the middle man and make the Green Lantern someone who literally uses a Green Lantern to fight. You wouldn’t call Batman “Money Man” or “Cave Man” because that’s where he recharges. Also I went with a plucky, younger character like Kyle Rayner, who I think was the most interesting to hold the title. Midori is a person who enjoys being a superhero and revels in the action it brings, at least for now.

>>90449299
Origin: While attempting to replicate what he believed to be the origin of Superman’s invulnerability, Dr. Ananth Patil accidentally accelerated his own metabolism to a superhuman degree. While he has gained extraordinary abilities in the process, his body has become unstable, requiring him to eat enormous amounts of food simply to stay alive and making regular sleep impossible. He currently seeks out other superhumans, hoping to find a way to cure his condition.

Powers: The Flash can and move at incredible speeds, well past Mach 10. He has also devised a helmet that compensates for the Doppler blue shift he sees at very high speeds as well as the equivalent for sound with his ear microphones.

Notes: I wanted a different take on the Flash than what’s usually seen, namely someone who saw it more of a curse than a blessing. Ananth is a scientist first, he’s more like Hank Pym or Bruce Banner: adventuring is a means to an end. Visually I wanted to give him a build that was more like a sprinter with larger thighs and a leaner overall shape. His outfit is very deliberately designed (by the Flash himself), with an emphasis on comfort and practicality.

>>90449334
Origin: Superman is considered a security liability by the US Government, as he does not recognize their authority over most matters. As a response, the CIA secretly worked with LexCorp on replicating the Man of Tomorrow’s abilities in human beings. The only test subject to survive the process was Lieutenant Karan Starr, who was given the codename “Power Girl” and tasked with being the United States’ counter to Superman. However, instead of openly opposing him, Karan was sent to infiltrate the newly formed Justice League as an independent “superhero.”

Powers: Strength and invulnerability comparable to Superman, though she does not have his more unusual abilities like flight. However, since LexCorp did not know that Superman is an alien, their methods of replicating his abilities were very different. This may lead to Karan experiencing side effects later on.

Notes: Power Girl’s origin story has always been a mess, so I just started from scratch. Since my version of Superman both makes him much more antiauthoritarian, it seemed natural to have a character that exists as the government’s response to a superhuman acting independent of their own interests. Karan is essentially a Captain America character with a much more morally ambiguous origin, and is sent to basically watch over this crazy (in her eyes) band of superpowered people- I think that has story potential. Visually I wanted to keep her short, curvy build, but place emphasis on her strength instead of her sexuality.

Lex Luthor is a selfmade man. Born in the slums of Metropolis, he pulled himself out of poverty and was accepted with a full scholarship to MIT, though he soon dropped out to start his own business, LexCorp. Luthor’s company soon became the most influential in the country, the leader in both consumer and military technologies. His business practices were less than honest, however, and his further rise to power increasingly involved more dubious dealings. Upon the arrival of Superman, however, and his clear message of standing up to those who would abuse their power, Luthor became concerned. He didn’t understand where this person came from or how he was seemingly invincible, but he would find out

To keep Superman and other heroes away from his most important dealings, Luthor devised two plans. First, he worked with the CIA to create Power Girl, a metahuman counter to Superman who would join the Justice League and watch over them. The second was a far more sinister and secret plan: to fund a team of supervillains to occupy the League’s time, a “Secret Society.” No one but Luthor and a single Society member knew he was ultimately behind their organization

Luthor’s a pretty great foil to Superman already, so I didn’t want to change much. I prefer his depiction as a corporate mogul instead of a mad scientist, especially since it fits with my Superman’s proletarian leanings. This, however, doesn’t mean that Luthor isn’t a technical genius, it’s just that his goals are bigger than just inventing things. Visually I wanted someone who looked pretty friendly, nerdy fellow, like a Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. He’s a famous guy and his personal image is strongly tied to the success of his company, so he’d try hard to suppress any notion that he’s anything but perfect. Then comes Superman, who’s this media darling, and it really gets to Luthor. Not only is this guy out to stop Luthor and his kind, but he’s doing it with a clean image

Diaz Grodd.jpg

>>90449571
Origin: LexCorp geneticist Cornelius Grodd was tasked with reproducing Superman’s regenerative abilities and invulnerability. When he learned that his professional rival at S.T.A.R. labs, Ananth Patil, had made greater strides in this, Grodd sabotaged Patil’s work (unwittingly turning him into the Flash) and stole a sample of what he believed to be a serum for reproducing Superman’s invulnerability. After thorough testing and modification, Grodd concluded that the serum would work, and would also easily double his intelligence. He also concluded that only he should possess such power, and took the serum himself. It did increase his intellect, but instead of invulnerability, Grodd’s body was turned into an early hominid-like form. Disgraced, he turned to Luthor for aid, who offered him a new mission in exchange for the funding needed to undo his disfigurement: create a supervillain group to keep Superman occupied. Grodd knows he’s being used, but for the meantime plays along before making a direct action against Luthor.

Powers: Grodd possesses slightly higher than human strength, but his main ability is his cunning intellect and ability to hypnotize and control those with whom he makes eye contact.

Notes: Grodd’s a fun character and everyone loves an evil gorilla, but I wanted to have an appearance that wasn’t so on the nose about it. I decided for kind of a Planet of the Apes appearance, and went with a backstory that meshed with that. He’s also a guy who’s now as smart as or smarter than Luthor, with the same sort of ambition, and I wanted to preserve the classic semi-rivalry between these two villains.

>>90449601
Origin: LexCorp wasn’t the only company bidding for the government’s superhuman contract. Cadmus Labs also had a candidate for the “answer” to Superman, but while Lex Luthor’s project was simply to make their own superhuman, Cadmus took a darker route by creating a weapon explicitly designed to kill Superman. In place of a life sentence, mass murderer John Corben signed on to be one of Cadmus’s experiments. Project Metallo involved grafting him to a mechanical body, one that was powered by a mysterious meteor that they had been observed to weaken Superman. When Metallo was rejected by the government in favor of Power Girl, Cadmus made plans to dismantle him, but Corben managed to escape. Soon, however, he was intercepted by the Grodd, and offered an opportunity to join the Society so that he could fulfill the one action that would truly give him pleasure (thanks to Cadmus’s conditioning): fighting Superman.

Notes: Criminal experimentation seemed like a natural way to go with Metallo. I also like the notion that Lex Luthor actually didn’t come up with the most evil way to deal with Superman (at least at first). Visually I wanted Metallo to look a bit clunky and retro; there’s some Iron Giant and Big O in there, as well as a creepy glowing skull. He’s meant to look like he can take and give a pounding. The origin I’ve given him isn’t far removed from his original, just a little closer to something from the Robocop movies.

Diaz Livewire.jpg
885KB, 1967x3889px
>>90449630
Origin: Leslie Willis first gained notoriety on the reality TV show I’m a Superhero, Get Me Out of Here, where contestants were given a superhero name, powers, and forced to live together in Miami. When she discovered she would soon be voted off the show, Willis concocted a plan to increase her popularity by “going evil,” and proceeded to murder the other contestants and film crew. The plan worked, and “Livewire” continued to garner fame with a violent life of crime. She joined the Secret Six primarily because it would increase her exposure and chances of killing a popular hero. However, if that doesn’t turn out, Livewire has a backup plan where she will “turn good” at the last minute and help the Justice League.

Powers: Livewire’s gauntlets and helmet allow her to control electromagnetic fields. This mostly involves firing bolts of electricity and a rudimentary usage of magnetism to bend or throw metal.

Notes: Livewire’s original origin (as a shock jock) seemed a little too early 90s, but I do like the idea of an obnoxious egomaniac angle, so I went with the reality show backstory. In a world where Superman and other heroes are a new thing, you’d expect media outlets to capitalize on the hype. Livewire’s motivations aren’t too far removed from modern non-celebrities of that type, she’s only taken it to extremes. Visually, I wanted her outfit to be provocative before it’s practical. This is a character who is more concerned about being photographed than having combat-ready clothing.

Origin: The appearance of Superman and others sparked somewhat of a superhuman arms race worldwide, with nations concerned about their enemies gaining super soldiers of their own. A high price was offered, for example, for anyone who could navigate to the Amazonian island, Themiscyra, and recover its relics. Many treasure hunters lept at the opportunity, but only the mercenary Doris Zeul and her team were able to successfully navigate to Themiscyra. Although her companions were killed by the various traps left by the Amazons, Zeul survived and found a suit of armor said to contain the power of Ares. Deciding the claim the armor for her own, Zeul now works for the highest bidder, and that bidder is the Secret Society.

Powers: Fueled by rage, Giganta’s armor enhances her fighting skills and physical stature, as well as raise her strength and durability. Generally, the longer a fight goes on, the more indestructible she becomes.

Notes: Wonder Woman needed someone to sword fight, so I went with a little-used origin of Giganta that involved her being more of an Amazonian foil than a lady with growing powers. I also wanted to keep the origins of the characters diverse, and liked the idea of some powers-that-be trying to replicate Wonder Woman’s powers instead of Superman’s. Visually, I wanted Giganta to contrast with Wonder Woman while still having Greco-Roman vibes. I used a gladiator style to help distinguish her as someone who revels in combat and power, while Wonder Woman is more of a peacekeeper.

Origin: Midori Ota was not the first on Earth to possess the Oan “green lantern.” Years earlier, another person, Dr. Evan Qward, first received it, but he quickly came to abuse its power, hoping to rule over the Earth with what he deemed a divine gift. The Oan lantern, however, was built with a failsafe against such abuse and disappeared from Qward’s possession, in search of a new host. Soon Qward was driven mad, having become addicted to the power, and spent the rest of his life trying to replicate the abilities of the lantern. Having recently discovered there is a new person using his former “gift,” Qward has taken up with the Secret Society under the name Sinestro in order to kill this new Green Lantern and reclaim what is rightfully his.

Powers: Sinestro has designed a suit and power supply meant to mimic the Green Lantern’s abilities, though it does not exactly achieve this. Instead, he can only deconstruct and manipulate nonliving matter with yellow rays from his gloves.

Notes: I think Sinestro is an important component of the Green Lantern mythos, as he represents the temptation that comes with such power and how easily it can be abused. Although his origin here is fairly different from the original, I think I’ve still kept the essential element of him being a “fallen” Green Lantern who thinks that power should be used to rule over people rather than serve them. While originally his antagonism was mostly an ideological one (since he still had his own power ring), here I’ve added a more direct motivation: he wants his lantern back. I like the notion of such power being addictive. After all, I imagine losing the ability to make whatever you imagine come to life would make anyone pretty angry. Visually, I didn’t want to stray too far from the original Sinestro. He’s a basically an evil Green Lantern, so that should stay the same.

Origin: Shortly before their fateful visit to Mars, Kryptonian explorers briefly visited Earth to determine if its inhabitants were ready for “modification.” After a brief experimentation, it was determined that humans were too savage in their present state, and the Kryptonians erased the evidence of their arrival before moving on to Mars. One experiment lived, however, and found that she could prolong her life by absorbing the “life force” of those around her. As time went on, the power did dwindle and she found she had to more and more frequently absorb others to maintain her life. This persisted for over a thousand years, when she encountered Grodd, who wished her to join the Secret Society in exchange for research into her “condition.” Madame Vandal’s story of alien abduction is not believed (and she never quite remembers it correctly), but she is nevertheless welcomed, as she is indisputably the most powerful member of the Secret Society.

Powers: Vandal has the ability to leech energy from others through physical contact. This rejuvenates her, as well as temporarily elevates her strength and vitality to whatever she’s touched. This effectively makes her as powerful as Superman while fighting him. To fully maintain her presumed immortality, Vandal has to completely drain a person until they die. Also, with some concentration, she can absorb non-biological energy as well (such as kinetic or electrical) and redirect it at her command.

Notes: I combined Parasite’s abilities with a more Vandal Savage origin story, as I think the two work well together. Visually I wanted someone who didn’t look very imposing, hiding their true power. Parasite here is almost like a vampire, slinking in the shadows and lasting as long as she has because most people don’t know her true nature.

Origin: Daughter of a prominent Gotham crime boss, Helena Bertinelli watched her family gunned down during a mafia war. Living in hiding with a foster family, she grew to despise organized crime in all its forms. When she came of age, Helena idolized Batman and wished to gain his favor by taking on the persona of Batgirl. However, Batman was concerned about her brutal methods of crime fighting, and told her he couldn’t waste time training such a person when there is a growing superhuman concern. Still wanting his approval, Helena created a new villain persona, the Huntress, and joined the ranks of the Secret Society with the intent of exposing their mysterious financier. She reasoned that superhumans loyal to the government or a corporate force were far more dangerous than the Justice League, and intends to dismantle their operation by whatever means she can.

Powers: Huntress is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and ranged weaponry. Her goggles allow her night vision and infrared tracking, and her body armor is designed specifically to absorb concussive blows, as well as redirect energy known to be used by many metahumans. Her preferred weapons are a crossbow and collapsible sword.

Notes: I wanted to have one character who rode the line a bit, and the Huntress is a good candidate. While obviously not a real villain, Huntress is to the Secret Society what Power Girl is to the Justice league, at least in that she has ulterior motives. Visually, I wanted someone who took after Batman, so most of what’s she’s wearing is a more practical version of her regular costume. I’m not a fan of people with secret identities and exposed hair, so I gave her a full mask and cut her hair short to fit. I liked the religious imagery of her original costume but felt hanging crosses were a little too on the nose, so I went with a priest’s collar and an overall look that sort of resembles a cardinal.

Origin: Seeing his parents gunned down by a mugger at age 8, Bruce Wayne developed a particularly strong obsession with lawbreaking and the nature of the criminal mind. Using his vast family fortune, Wayne traveled the world for many years, learning the martial arts and the disciplines of detective work, engineering and stage magic, training under the greatest masters of their fields. When he returned to his city of Gotham, he saw that crime had taken a further turn for the worse, with gangs and the criminally insane taking on bizarre personas and costumes while they ran rampant through the city. Realizing that he could become a sort of lighting rod for the most dangerous of these criminals, Wayne took on the mantle of Batman, a creature of the night that would prey on the fears of the weak minded and attract the aggression of the bolder. His plan worked, and over time his operation expanded to include his trustworthy butler, Alfred, and even more.

Notes: My changes to Batman may seem modest, but the devil’s in the details. I wanted to take his crime fighting style back to his earliest roots and make him a bit spooky. I also wanted to emphasize the bat elements more strongly, not just with the wings and silhouette but the greater focus on sonics and night vision.

Origin: Born into an upper -middle-class Gotham family, Tim Drake had always been fascinated with detectives and forensics, though a career in law enforcement was heavily discouraged by his parents. This did not deter Tim’s self-education, however, and when he was barely 19 he deduced the Batman’s identity as Bruce Wayne. Knowing Wayne’s troubled past, he understood Batman’s motivations, and offered to join in the vigilante’s crusade. Not wanting to dress in a ridiculous costume, Drake put on a mask and a simple red-breasted coat. Annoyed that this “boy wonder” would look down on his methods, Batman gave him the codename “Robin.”

Notes: Batman and Robin should always have a Bad Cop/Good Cop relationship. I’ve always liked the friendship between Rorschach and the Owl from Watchmen, where each guy’s motivation to be a hero’s pretty different, but they find common ground and play off each other’s strengths. Robin is the less cynical of human nature and also takes the whole "superhero” thing less seriously. He grounds Bruce, keeping one foot in reality. Visually I wanted something indicative of The Shadow or the Golden Age Sandman, where the detective elements are more emphasized (his mask, too, is meant to evoke a sort of venetian plague doctor vibe). Robin doesn’t need a utility belt, just pockets.

Origin: Stephanie Brown was only 16 when she discovered her father, Ed Brown, was also known as Edward Nygma, the notorious Riddler, a criminal Batman had never managed to capture. Feeling obligated to thwart his criminal plans with her inside knowledge, Stephanie spent months training and following her father’s escapades, studying his movements and patterns of riddles. To hide her identity to him, she took on the persona of The Spoiler, and vowed to spoil his plans whenever possible. Eventually Stephanie’s efforts paid off, and after anonymously delivering a message to Batman, helped him finally capture the Riddler. Batman, seeing that he had created an orphaned crimefighter, took in Stephanie as his ward to pay for her education.

Notes: Every good magician needs an assistant, and Batgirl fills role of the plucky sidekick nicely. She’s new to the Bat-family and her naivete and youthful vigor serve to keep Batman from becoming too grim. Visually her outfit’s similar to Batman’s, but without the attention-grabbing symbol. Her silhouette’s also a bit softer, and comes off a bit like a flying squirrel, which I like.

Origin: Stephanie Brown wasn’t the first Batgirl. Years earlier, Barbara Gordon, a undergraduate student in criminal science, had secretly yearned for the life of the vigilante. Her father, Commissioner James Gordon, would never see her do police work, so Barbara took on the persona of Batgirl, and modelled herself after the famous crime fighter. Batman did indeed take notice and eventually took her under his wing. However, Batman was not as accustomed to working with others at the time, and sent in the less skilled and experienced Batgirl against the Joker and his henchmen, who overwhelmed the Batgirl and beat her until she was paralyzed from the waist down. Although Batman saved her life, he was convinced that her vigilante days were over. Not to be deterred, however, Barbara went through years of therapy and acclimated herself to Wayne’s cutting-edge prostheses technology. She now uses an exoskeleton to provide limited mobility, and serves as Batman’s operations director and engineer, also offering her occasional skills as a hacker and security specialist. Spending more and more time hidden away with her computers.

Notes: I wanted Barbara to retain her character, because superhero comics needs intelligent, competent female protagonists. I altered her “origin” a bit to be less grotesque and instead focused on the notion that Batman using kids to fight crime is kind of reckless. We see with Stephanie that he’s since taken a different approach and keeps her mainly out of direct harm. I also took Barbara out of a wheelchair, because I felt that in a superhero universe of magic and flying robots, someone with access to Bruce Wayne’s money should be able to get up stairs, regardless of their injuries. I want to present Barbara as someone who has become just as driven and obsessed as Batman. As to whether that’s a good thing (or whether this is the best path for her) remains to be seen.

First Mutation - Temporarily takes on the attributes of organic beings with whom she comes into contact. This includes some physical elements as well as memories.

After her power to absorb the physical strength and memories from others manifested, Anna fled her hometown in Mississippi, living for a short while on the street before being discovered by Xavier. She is terribly confused most of the time, as she has trouble distinguishing her own memories from those that she has absorbed.

Notes - Visually, I wanted a look that felt like someone looking for an identity, and the hipster mullet felt like a right move.

2. Ororo Munroe (age 18)

First Mutation - Ionization of air molecules and absorption of ambient heat

Born in Kenya, but due to various mishaps Ororo found herself as a member of Egyptian militants by the time she was a teenager. Worshipped as a deity due to her incredible powers, she was quickly becoming a warlord before encountering Xavier. After being soundly humbled by Professor X, she came to realize that she was not a goddess, but a misguided youth among many mutants.

Notes - Storm is arrogant, with a streak of stubborn defiance to authority. Visually I went with something close to her punk rock look from the 80s, as well as a few “mutant” attributes beyond just having white hair.

3. Jean Grey (age 17)

First Mutation - Explosive reincarnation.

During a domestic dispute, Jean Grey’s father threatened her mother with a gun, which accidentally fired and killed Jean. Moments later, Jean found out that she could not stay dead, returning to life in a flaming explosion that completely incinerated her family and neighborhood. Before authorities could find her, Jean was picked up by Charles Xavier, who offered her both consolation and a new home where she could control her strange mutation.

Notes - Jean is about as neurotic as someone who comes back to life by exploding should be. Visually I wanted a tall, gawkish figure, someone who’s not entirely comfortable in their own skin. Also she has creepy devil eyes now.

4. Kitty Pryde (age 16)

First Mutation - Phasing through solid objects.

When Kitty first discovered her ability, she immediately put it to use in solving crimes, clandestinely helping local police, signing her clues to them as “The Shadowcat.” Upon encountering Xavier, Kitty concocted an elaborate excuse to go to his prestigious prep school so that she could learn more about her abilities and what this whole “mutant” hysteria was all about.

Notes - Kitty is also the most sheltered, which would definitely come into conflict with the more tragic and world-weary members of the school. Visually I’m definitely going for a “teen detective” look, as well as keeping her in a boyish look contrasted with a short, curvy figure.

1. Scott Summers (age 17)

First Mutation - Crystalline “eye” grown over his face. Can see in the dark.

Mocked at school for his mutation upon reach puberty, Scott ran away from his foster home before being discovered by Xavier. Happy to find a place where he is not seen as a freak, Scott is nevertheless resentful of his mutation and also envious of his peers with more impressive abilities.

Notes - Scott is the most disfigured starting out, and has dealt with the most public ridicule. Visually I wanted someone who is going through the worst stages of being a moody teenager.

2. Piotr Rasputen (age 18)

First Mutation - Superhuman strength.

Born in the Ukraine, Piotr left his home for New York, both in hopes of beginning a career as a comic artist as well as finding are more progressive view of gays than what was found in his home. Finding little work, Piotr settled for a job as bouncer at a night club. Upon meeting Xavier, Piotr was thrilled that there was a place for “superheroes” (his words) to learn together.

Notes - Piotr’s kind of a big kid, and probably the person most thrilled by the fact that he has a mutation. Visually, I wanted him to look pretty Eurotrash, but still have a gentle heart. He and Kitty become fast friends.

3. Warren Worthington III (age 16)

First Mutation - Can temporarily regenerate others’ tissue through holes in his palms.

Although born into immense wealth, Warren ran away from home when he discovered his parents were investigating ways to “cure him of the mutant condition.” Using his ability to temporarily heal others, Warren began a new life as a traveling faith healer under the name “Angel,” giving false hope and wrangling as much money as he could from the superstitious. Xavier put a stop to his schemes and offered a more constructive career path for Warren at his school.

Notes - Warren is one of those kids you want to punch, and not just because he’s an out-of-touch millionaire. While ultimately meaning well, Warren has a tough time identifying with the other kids and tends to irritate more than anything else. Visually I wanted something fashionable and punchable.

1. Kurt Wagner (age 40)

Mutation - Enhanced agility and senses; line-of-sight teleportation.

Teaching Subject - Gym; Combat

Raised by Austrian monks before making a career in the circus and then for the German police, Kurt Wagner has led a colorful life. When he discovered Xavier’s school existed, he offered his services in any way he could. He is also currently the only known mutant to go through a third mutation, which explains his bizarre appearance and abilities.

Notes - Kurt is kind of the moral center of the school and universally beloved by the students. He’s also a running example of someone who totally owns being a mutant; he doesn’t care what others think of him and has thoroughly explored the potential his own mutation. Visually I wanted something rather monstrous, but with a roguish nod to Errol Flynn, as Kurt is an avid fan of swashbuckling.

2. Dr. James “Logan” Howlett (age ~2,500)

Mutation - Superhuman healing/senses; Superdense Skeleton; Retractable Fist claws; Violent Feral Metamorphosis.

Teaching Subject - History; Anthropology

Dr. Howlett is a popular teacher among the kids. While a bit gruff at times, he’s always quick to share a story and stick up for students who need it. Few besides Xavier even begin to know his true nature.

Born in Macedon 2,500 years ago, Logan was the very first mutant, directly mutated by the Celestials along with three other subjects. However, he was an imperfect prototype and the mutation never solidly took hold, a side-effect being the occasional shift into a mindless killing animal with prortruding claws. His healing abilities made him functionally immortal, but every few decades Logan falls to his feral “Wolverine” persona, murdering those around him and losing much of his memory. Logan now no longer knows how old he is or what his origins really are, only that he is centuries old. In recent years, Xavier has aided Logan in recovering some of his memories, as well as helped him control the “Wolverine” inside him.

Notes - I basically combined Beast with Wolverine, with a touch of Vandal Savage. Having lived for so long, Logan has become a pretty sophisticated guy who is nonetheless constantly trying to hold together his strange, mutant feral rage. Visually I kept it close to the classic look, just emphasizing his short stature (being from such an earlier time) and giving him little fangs. His claws are now connected to his feral form only, a metamorphosis that is very painful.

3. Emma Frost (age 30)

Mutation - Living, Organic Crystalline Computer; Superhuman Strength and Durability

Teaching Subject - Literature; Art

Originally a member of a crime syndicate called the Hellfire Club (a mutant gang that extorted money from humans), Emma Frost defected to Xavier and Magnus when she realized the club was part of a larger front that dealt in the trade of mutant slaves. Emma delights in teaching Xavier’s students, as it is an effective way to both enrich and torment young minds. She is also the only mutant who is entirely immune to Xavier’s telepathy, and serves as a means to keep him in check. Emma is also tirelessly trying to seduce Logan, to no effect.

Notes - Emma Frost is one of my favorite characters, and I wanted a design and approach to do her justice. I’ve opted to avoid the classic “white underwear” look, instead going for something a little classier and more appropriate for a teacher. Just because someone is in charge of their sexuality doesn’t mean that they literally have to walk around in a bikini while teaching minors.

. Dr. Magnus Eisenhardt (age 35)

First Mutation - Can perceive the entire electromagnetic spectrum

Teaching Subject - Physics; Chemistry; Math; Biology

Borin in Slovenia, Magnus grew up in a tumultuous period in Central Europe that saw the deaths of his family and many loved ones. He eventually fled and found higher education in Britain, where he received a PhD in physics. It was here where he first met Xavier, and convinced him that they should open their own school that could teach the growing population of mutants. Magnus is unusual in that he has only had one mutation at his age and a relatively mild one. Nevertheless, he has found his perceptive ability to be very useful, and claims it gives him a unique perspective of the Universe.

Notes - I never liked that the Magneto/Xavier falling-out always happened as a flashback, so I’ve elected to make Magnus a teacher at the school and actually have their moral differences play out.

. Professor Charles Xavier (age 35)

Mutation - Telepathy; Perfect Memory Recall; Intuitive Ability to Locate Other Mutants

Charles Xavier made good use of his mutant abilities at an early age, excelling at school by reading the minds of his teachers and charming his way into extremely prestigious academic positions. It was not until he was teaching at Oxford that he developed his second mutation, the ability to perceive and locate other mutants, and it was at this point that he realized that he was not alone. A new friend, Magnus Eisenhardt, convinced Xavier that he had the moral obligation to use his powers and personal fortune to find, protect and educate this growing population of mutants.

Charles founded the Xavier Institute for the Gifted in upstate New York. Masquerading as a prep school, it was in fact a safe haven for mutants wanting to further their education without the judgement found in the outside world. To maintain this, Charles routinely wipes the memories of anyone snooping around the grounds. He also maintains the public image (via telepathy) of an elderly man in a wheelchair.

Notes - Xavier is pretty much the same here, though I elected to have the “wheelchair” look be a PR move on his part rather than an actual impairment. While morally earnest, Xavier is a person who has had little hardship in his own life and sometimes comes off as overly idealistic in his pursuits. Given his power, too, Xavier tends to frequently abuse his telepathy to achieve his ends, putting him often in morally ambiguous position.

Additionally, as noted before regarding each mutation, Xavier’s “species” actually belongs to the Watchers, an ancient civilization of telepaths who have sworn noninterference with undeveloped worlds. This of course is not known to him.

3. The Sentinels

Many mutants are extremely dangerous, with the world’s governments scrambling for ways to manage the growing chaos the best ways they can. The United States has opted for the Sentinel Program, which places robotic protectors at key population areas in the hopes of containing unforeseen mutant threats. They also function as secret police when necessary, capturing particularly dangerous mutants. And, as you can see, they are also excellent masters of disguise.

Notes - In my reboot, the human response is a little more measured and less hysterical; plus with individuals like Jean Grey, people really do have legitimate reasons to fear mutants. The Sentinels are the first answer to that, as their job is basically to police and capture mutants for registration and/or treatment. Visually I made them human-sized instead of gigantic, because I don’t know if the US government would ever unleash an army of building-sized death robots into populated areas.

. Anna Marie/Rogue

Second Mutation - Now able to take on physical attributes of inanimate objects

Whatever Rogue’s species is, it appears to be a race of chameleons. She has gained much more control since starting at the school and has also begun to gain more confidence in her personality and abilities. Rogue has realized she has the same mutation as the evil mutant Mystique, much to her displeasure. Additionally, Rogue has also discovered she has developed a crush on Warren/Archangel, much to an even greater displeasure.

Notes - Visually, I’ve made her a little more like a vampire, as she slowly turns more and more into Mystique’s form. Her sleeves are removable (and storable in her belt pouches) so her arms can take on whatever traits are needed. Rogue also keeps small objects she’s practiced “mimicking” in her utility belt, like steel bearings and pieces of plastic.

2. Ororo Munroe/Storm

Second Mutation - Expansion of her base powers; feeds on ambient heat

Storm has cooled off somewhat, but is still convinced she is the most powerful mutant in the world. Her increased skills at manipulating lighting and air currents hasn’t helped matters. Additionally Storm no longer needs to eat, instead feeding off ambient heat, which leaves a trail of frost and snow whenever she’s “hungry.”

Notes - Storm’s outfit is basically just a loose-fitting single piece to allow for maximum flexibility on combat. Her boots are there for kicking teeth.

3. Jean Grey/Phoenix

Second Mutation - Matter manipulation

Phoenix discovers that her first mutation (resurrection) was actually just an unconscious manifestation of her ability to reorganize matter. While this may be the most powerful mutant ability known, Phoenix is hesitant to fully use it, due to its potential for deadly mayhem. While she has finally begun to open up a little to her classmates, Jean is still very withdrawn, and would definitely not tell anyone about her crush on Kitty…

Notes - Turning Jean into a Dr. Manhattan-turning-into-Galactus seemed right. Visually I’ve made her a little more menacing, and her X-uniform is a nod to one of her classic costumes, complete with sash.

4. Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat - Leader of the X-Men

Second Mutation - none so far

When Xavier had to organize his top students into the X-Men, Kitty was a strange choice for leader. Despite routinely beating her teammates in combat training, Kitty has never commanded much respect from her peers, but Xavier insisted that Kitty take on the role. It didn’t take long for the choice to make sense, as above all others, Kitty kept a cool head under real combat conditions and proved to be a masterful tactician.

Notes - Kitty has lost a bit of weight since we last saw her (combat training will do that) and she’s gained a much better handle on her abilities and leadership skills. She also wears special goggles and ear pieces that allow her to see and hear when in a phased form.

Second Mutation - his crystalline eye has opened into a dimensional gate

Scott’s eye has “opened,” revealing itself not to just be a weird growth but a window into a red nebula in some other part of the universe. He has discovered that, with some effort, Scott can reposition the other end of his eye to various places in the nebula. For example, he can position it near the surface of a star and incinerate enemies with solar fire. This has done wonders for Scott’s self-esteem. He has also developed feelings for Storm, who would probably notice if Storm wasn’t already infatuated with herself.

Notes - Scott’s basic power comes through now, with a few twists. As he progresses he’ll discover new uses for his strange mutation (including positioning his eye near a black hole). For now, though, he’s just happy to be useful to the X-Men.

2. Piotr Rasputen/Colossus

Second Mutation - metallic skin

Colossus was delighted when his body permanently turned into a hulking, metallic colossus. He was also doubly delighted when Xavier gave them all uniforms and code names (though he wanted the codename “Punch Man.”) He has also pinned a red cape he made to his uniform, to look more superheroic.

Notes - Colossus just wants to be Superman, so he is just absolutely pumped by these new developments. His costume is also a nod to his classic costume from the 70s with the high boots.

3. Warren Worthington III/Archangel

Second Mutation - blue skin; levitation; poisonous blood

Archangel’s second mutation has robbed him of his good looks, as well as reveal that his “species” is the same as the evil mutant Apocalypse’s. This has given Archangel much to consider about the future of his mutations, and has overall made him fairly grim. Additionally, he’s realized that his species may be techno-organic, as strange lights and winglike patterns now appear around him when he uses his mutant abilities.

Notes - I though I’d update the connection between Apocalypse and Archangel, and the alien premise of my reboot offered a neat way to do that.

1. Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (age 20)

Mutation - Mind has been reorganized to intuitively process and affect quantum-scale events; allowing her to “see” incoming timelines and probabilities

Born in Romania before immigrating to the United States, Wanda Maximoff discovered as a young woman that, unlike other human beings, she could “visualize” the quantum world as easily as the macroscopic one, with her mind firing away at a remarkable speed. Before long she realized that she could in turn perceive and affect the probability of different potential timelines. This ability eventually led her to Magneto, who shared a similar perceptive power. She believes in Magneto’s view that the human race has lost the right to govern the planet, and that mutants are far better equipped to direct Earth’s destiny.

Notes - Wanda’s powers puts her on a different mental plane than others, which is a constant source of frustration for her. In my version she is not related to Magneto, but instead simply shares his ideals. Visually I wanted something fairly simple, as she’s not so much a costumed supervillain but rather an intelligent young woman looking for political change.

2. Alex Adams/Havok (age 22)

Mutation - Able to fire bursts of energy from the crystalline “eye” growing out of his chest

Raised in an orphanage, Alex is initially unaware that he ever had a younger brother (Scott Summers) until encountering the X-Men for the first time. While they share the same mutation, Alex’s manifested in his chest for reasons unknown (possibly due to some unknown property of their “species”). Alex was using his mutant abilities as a mob enforcer before being recruited by Magneto for a higher cause.

Notes - Havok is basically someone drunk on the power of their mutation. He simply enjoys blowing things up. Magneto generally has to keep him on a short leash to make sure that no innocent people are harmed by the Brotherhood’s activities.

. Magnus Eisenhardt/Magneto

Second Mutation - Direct control over magnetic fields

While in their research into Logan’s history, Magnus and Xavier finally discover what the mutant race really is: a living database of all the greatest species of the Universe, seeded thousands of years earlier. Magneto is convinced that they are in fact Homo superior, and tries to persuade Xavier to share this knowledge with the world. Xavier, terrified that this will incite a race war, attempts to wipe Magnus’s memory of the discovery and fails. Instead, his attack triggers Magnus’s secondary mutation, and Magneto is born. Magneto takes a handful of loyal students with him to begin a new movement, with the goal of Mutants governing humanity.

Notes - I didn’t want to change too much here because so much of it already works. My version of Magneto’s a lot less violent and doesn’t really want to harm people if he doesn’t have to. Nevertheless his approach to overthrowing the government is still pretty brutal. He is also a little drunk with power after developing his magnetic abilities.

>>
>>90450496
. Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast (age 38)

Mutation - Enhanced strength; intellect; stamina

Hank McCoy is actually not a natural-born mutant. Although originally tasked by the government with “curing” mutations, McCoy had no intention of doing so. Instead, he wanted to reproduce mutations in non-mutants; this research revealed that there were millions of people with dormant “x-genes,” himself included. McCoy successfully activated his own mutation, transforming into a monstrous beast. Now hunted by the government for his own mutation (as well as tons of stolen research), Beast joined up with Magneto, sharing his ideal of a mutant-controlled utopia. McCoy also provides The Brotherhood with much-needed levity with his (admittedly dark) sense of humor.

Notes - Since Wolverine kind of serves as the Beast role for the X-Men in my reboot, I decided to push Beast’s mad scientist angle a little more and have him work for Magneto. His appearance is also much more alien here, befitting a human/alien hybrid.

5. Mortimer Toynbee/Toad (Age 20)

Mutation - Sort of looks like a frog

Toad is one of the majority of mutants who doesn’t have any extraordinary abilities. He is a childhood friend of Wanda Maximoff, and has always been by her side (while secretly harboring a lifelong crush). Although he actually thinks Magneto and the Brotherhood are evil jerks, Toad chose to join them in order to look after Wanda and keep her safe. In fact, Toad secretly longs to join the X-Men and has even sewn his own uniform (hidden under his bed, of course).

Notes - Toad just can’t catch a break!

1. Apocalypse (age ~2,500)

Mutation - unknown; same species as Archangel

Originally from Egypt, Apocalypse was the last of the First Four prototype mutants created by the Celestials. Not completely understanding what had happened to him, Apocalypse developed a religion around the Celestials, and believed if he could complete their work, he would earn the right to himself become a Celestial. Apocalypse eventually found his three counterparts, and believed that each represented a primal element:

Fire - Wolverine

Earth - Juggernaut

Water - Mystique

Air - Apocalypse

Together they began plans to conquer the world, but soon Wolverine (for reasons long forgotten) betrayed the others and imprisoned them in various parts of the world. Only recently has Apocalypse been reawakened, and again has developed plans to either mutate the remaining population or simply exterminate the human race.

Notes - Apocalypse, in my reboot, is kind of the worst-case scenario of an underdeveloped civilization encountering aliens, using advanced technology that he doesn’t really understand to fulfill a religious goal he invented. Visually I wanted to keep him imposing but make him look a little more alien, complete with four arms.

2. Juggernaut (age ~2,500)

Mutation - 100 feet tall; indestructible

Possibly the most dangerous of all, Juggernaut was the second mutant to be created by the Celestials. Originally hailing somewhere from North America, Juggernaut was discovered by Apocalypse and quickly grew to be his most loyal servant. Slow to anger and generally more content to sleep, Juggernaut nonetheless is virtually unstoppable when roused. When Wolverine betrayed them, Juggernaut was sealed deep within the Earth, and has only recently been reawakened by Apocalypse.

Notes - I think Juggernaut works better as a Shadow of the Colossus-style monster than just a football-player-looking guy. And I just drew his hand because he’s so big, not because I’m lazy. Nope, no sir.

3. Mystique (age ~2,500)

Mutation - Shapeshifting; able to take on attributes of anything she touches

Originally from Indonesia and the third mutant to be created, Mystique was the first to escape imprisonment after Wolverine betrayed her, Juggernaut and Apocalypse. She spent centuries wandering the Earth, taking on various forms and basically living an life of hedonism and manipulation. In recent years she discovered where Apocalypse and Juggernaut were imprisoned and successfully freed them. She serves as a guide to the modern world for Apocalypse, and unlike her cohorts possesses a cruel sense of levity.

Notes - Mystique is the same species as (and presumably final mutation of) Rogue, which is the cause of some concern for Rogue. Visually I wanted to make her more alien and impish, with a playful kind of evil look.

personally, I agree with you there, I was just throwing up something for the thread.

As a side note: an issue I have with a lot of superman and spider-man designs is that people forget they wear tights for a reason, and probably the only ones in modern comics who still follow that reason: they can hide their costumes under their clothing.

I mean it can make sense Bruce would need to dash to the batcave and only be able to manage things as Batman as a 'prevent more damage', befitting of being a detective and basically a costumed noire character, but Spider-man and superman are always at the ready and just a pulled shirt away from jumping into the fray.

my friend and I came up with a Marvel re-imagining that's a 70s period piece with Lovecraftian themes, code named "8 Track Marvel".

Ancient elder gods and cosmic forces are breaking into our plane of reality (called 616 by SHIELD), causing various tears in reality where space and time are warped (how many characters gain their powers)

We don't have any art yet, but we got ideas like:

- Captain America is from the Revolutionary war, a legendary soldier who fought for the Colonies' independence and was rumored to have punched King George himself in the face.
In the year of the American Bicentennial (1976), he mysteriously reappears from a patch of New England forest that was in fact a time-space anomaly. As a result of exposure to these energies he cannot age and is essentially immortal.

- Tony Stark and his Stark Industries profited heavily off the Vietnam War. He has plans drawn up for the Iron Man armor, but doesn't actually don it until much later in the story. He and Bruce Banner are friends, and Tony is partially responsible for the events leading to Banner becoming the Hulk.

- Scarlet Witch is Dr. Strange's apprentice, meeting him as a young girl on his return from the far East. She studies the ways of magic hoping to one day rescue her brother Pietro from a dimensional anomaly that opened up in Eastern Europe.

- Spider-Man gains his powers from the symbiote and has a techno-organic costume, kind of like the Guyver. SHIELD attempts to clone the symbiote but finds that it will not obey anyone who isn't Peter, leading to 8TM's version of the Clone Saga.

- Wolverine is a very minor character in this universe. He is SHIELD's janitor who is surprisingly unfazed by all the weirdness that goes on. He doesn't really fight, he only uses his claws to open beer cans.

That's the thing about the backstories and reinvention that Diaz made. If he presented this as an interesting Elseworld it would be fine, it's the fact that he thinks he's improving things with his lack of basic understanding of these characters that's the problem.

I really hate how diaz thought that making Cyborg the IT nerd was somehow more original that his actual origin.

I always liked the story of how the average student football playing son of a genius had the life he chose for himself ripped away, yet still manage to thrive as part of a team.

A great story about a person who was dependant on their body found a way to move past the things they lost and to find fulfilment even with prothesis.

Not this 'lol nerds got robot bits" bullshit. Technophile crap has been played out for years.

Gideon?

I can't draw for shit so I'll put a design into words:

>Batman's suit is black as night with a pointed ear cowl. His cape is able to unfurl to three times its traditional length: the edge tips of the cape have microscopic fibers which attach to Batman's wrists gauntlets: this allows him greater flight but also greater stealth and combat options as he can use his cape as a net, whip, bullet deflecter/dampener. At the point where the cape meets the suit there is a roll-in function to allow batman to tuck it in when needed. On the small on his back Batman has a holster for a grapple gun. In place of a utility belt round the waist, he instead has a gondolier, two of which run from hip to shoulder and are very difficult to make out from the rest of the suit. His mask is the classic cowl with the addition of shiny black lenses: when in stealth mode he can pull on the cowl to cover his lower chin. For purely aesthetic purposes when not in stealth the joins of the suit become lined with purple-and-grey: the emblem is exposed when the suits chest armor fibers are broken/blasted away. The more damage done to the suit the more it goes from frightening synthetic gargoyle to purple-hued batsuit.

Would appreciate a shitty mock up from a draw fag

Originally a much simpler construct, Captain America underwent classified upgrades involving a recently discovered shield, made of a never before seen alloy. (origin, age, and construction method unknown.)

Although not entirely intact, the only other known pieces of the ancient shield reside inside Caps core, functioning in tandem, these shield shards generate an incredibly powerful frequency, powering Captain America.

The shield has been classified as indestructible, There are no accepted theories on how it was shattered originally.

Strengths:
• Wields a indestructible shield made of an unknown alloy. The shield is held in place by powerful magnets on either one or both of Cap's arms.
• Very welled verse in hand to hand and long range combat.
• Able to throw the shield with great accuracy, able to hit several targets in succession with a single throw.
• Can very quickly assess and evaluate friends and foes, making him an extremely apt leader and tactician

Weaknesses:
• If separated from the shield for too long, Cap will loose power.
• While a very competent soldier, Cap is strongest when working with a team
>>
>>90471445
Strengths:
• A long range master marksman, Hawkeye is normally found on the outskirts of a battle- picking off targets from afar
• Constantly creating unique arrow types- everything from incapacitating to grappling, to incendiary- Hawkeye can create an arrow for almost any situation.
• Enhanced Vision. Equipped with dozens of specialized radar antenna, able to see in several spectrums at great distances
• Demonstrates a high advanced sense of spatial geometry between objects - able to bounce arrows off several surfaces before hitting his target
• Constantly building new arrows internally

Weaknesses:
• Built for quick climbing and perching- Hawkeye is actually very clumsy and slow once at ground level
• Many of his instruments are sensitive and easily damaged - a hard enough blow can temporarily blind Hawkeye
• A capable fighter, but compared to most super villain bots- is hopelessly outmatched. Relies on distance.
>>
>>90471452
Strengths
Extraordinary strength, endurance
Concussion & Shock based weaponry
Brief flight capabilities
The Hammer can only be operated by Thor alone- cannot be interfaced or hacked by any other
Electrified armor
Internal self sufficient core- constantly generating massive amounts of power

Weakness:
Built and operates like a Brawler, not much of a Tactician (operates best in a team)
Must release excess electricity periodicity, Core becomes unstable if electricity is allowed to build
>>
>>90471455
Strengths
Unmatched Strength and Endurance
The Hulk is powered by an experimental gamma fusion core. This design has never been successfully reproduced or its function fully understood since the prototype was initially ignited.
Hulks Gamma core ouput can increase and multiply on itself seemingly without end- the more its pushed, the stronger it gets. Making Hulk (given the proper circumstances) stronger and more enduring than anything ever constructed.

Weakness:
The Gamma Core needs time to accumulate- Hulks strength depends on escalating output and expenditure, when the core is idle, Hulk is weak.
Tunnel vision focus- Hulk will blindly ignore many aspects of a battle to ensure a singular targets destruction.
Battle rage/unpredictability: in extreme circumstances, Hulk has been known to attack friendlies and teammates mid battle

>>90471461
Strengths:
Lightweight and highly maneuverable frame. Extremely Agile/Aerobatic.
Capable of rapid climbing/travel through the use of unique climbing technology (can stick to seemingly any surface) and an unknown webbing material
This mech is the only known source of a incredibly strong, ultra light, and temporarily indestructible web-like substance.
Webbing dissolves before any meaningful scan can be completed
Contains a highly advanced Alert System. Seemingly precognitive, this system can only function in short bursts, but this, in addition to a highly developed reflex response system allows, the Spider bot to easily avoid almost every instance of attack.

Weaknesses:
Webbing supply is finite. Needs time to re-charge/grow the substance.
Relies on Attack + Avoidance tactics. Not especially effective fighter in enclosed spaces.
Seems to suffer from the illogical urge to constantly mock.

Despite being constantly put up against far superior combat machines, the Spider Man mech has yet to be defeated or caught.
>>
>>90471472
An attempt has been made to duplicate the Spiderman's webbing secretion systems , using a newly discovered substance initially thought to be the key component to the webbing. Project codename: Venom.

Update: experiments webbing substance has leaked into the inner-workings of the mech, and seemingly bonded. An increasing amount of system anomalies have been noted.
recommend project termination

subject has become unstable. unforeseen strength and combat abilities notes- however unusual aggression levels and behavioral instabilities render the subject unusable
recommend immediate project termination

Update: subject has finally begun producing a webbing substance. Although similar to the Spiderman's webbing, project Venom's strain is highly corrosive, being only useful for seconds before dissolving, and cutting into most surface areas and materials.
webbing strain: failure
Strongly recommend immediate project termination

Update: subject has grown considerably in size, frame has now seemingly become pliable, and is in a constant state of change. unknown protrusions and appendages have begun building and integrating into the the mechs system.

Overall diagnoses and mapping have repeatedly failed. an unknown system of hardware and software have developed in place of the original core.
demand immediate project termination

Update: subject has escaped.
you idiots.
>>
>>90471474
Strengths

Teleportation
Gravitational Manipulation

Weakness:

Doom is all consumed by the theory that there was an era of lifeforms prior to our own, and that this civilization somehow influenced todays design.

UPDATE: On his latest Archaeological dig, Doom has uncovered the remains what he claims is his "blueprints" "hood". for reasons unknown Doom has now been seen wearing the relic on his head.

Strengths:
• Geniues level intellect, expert level strategist, inventor, scientist.

•If reports are in fact credible: this is the only mech capable of succesful cognitive transfer. Aparently Doom has been destroyed multiple times, only to resurface soon after in another frame.

• Unparalleled engineer, Doom has built a extremely formidable fortress around himself and his work, along with dozens of hive constructs designed as offence, defence and support soldiers under his direct control.

•Use of an unknown weapons type known as "Magic". unknown offensive capabilities.

Weaknesses:
• slightly above average strength and fighting abilities, Doom rarely ever enters a fight himself.

• His obsession with the "truth before the origin" keeps him preoccupied

• Often underestimating others, Dooms obsessive genius is only matched by his arrogance, and has more than once landed him in situations he barely survives

Oldest known construct on the planet.
Completely beyond the current scope of understanding, no readings or information are available on any aspect of this bot. all instruments malfunction in attempt.
The Iron Man construct rarely strays below the stratosphere, seemingly in a perpetual state of disinterest or unawareness with the world around it.
Apparently beyond contact or communication. There have been scattered records of the Iron Man uttering a vocal code of some unkown type. Translation Pending.
on more than one occasion, aggressive measures have been taken on the Iron Man construct. No known form of weapon have had any effect. Reportedly, Iron Man ignored, or did not notice the attack taking place.

Weakness & Strengths: Unknown.

Ultron resides near the core of the world, unmoving this ancient titan seems interlaced with the entire planet, permanently fused to a root system of circuitry that is beyond mapping. It is theorized that Ultron must stay close to the planets core to maintain function. No other power source would be sufficient for his current size.

• Given his interconnectivity with the planet itself, it is theorized that this robot is essentially omniscient. Aware and watching everything.

• Origin unknown. scans estimate that this construct is as old as the Iron Man entity. they both seem to communicate in a vocal code of some unknown type, (translation pending):

"Illogical."
"Primary goal was achieved. Superhuman variable presence eliminated."
" Organic. eliminated."
"... .... ...."
"a world with no variables, no human delusion."
"....bored."
"Upgraded. Restarted."

I think it's fine for people who don't "get" characters to try designing them. Often times these characters can have a very stagnant or insular interpretation of them and seeing how someone without a pre-existing view of the character sees them allows you to examine the character from a fresh perspective even if the redesign itself isn't very good.

Because people would rather complain about someone else's drawing rather than actually learn to draw stuff for themselves.

He's right, anyone that didn't grew up with Superman would see this guy that is supposed to be an alien being exactly like a human in every superficial sense, not only that a strong, white, attractive human, wearing one of the most basic under designed suits ever and they'll think "what the fuck is this loser supposed to evoke?"
As he wasn't into Superman he made something that was alien.

While this is true, more often than not the artists feel the need to share how much they don't understand and/or hate the characters, or in Diaz' case how much better their concepts are. All that ego just kind of overshadows whatever creativity went into the designs.

So what you're saying is, instead of whining when characters have actual armor people should just draw their own porn?
