In old canon they were the backup band for a Bob Hope expy during the Clone Wars, mentioned in the Medstar/Space M*A*S*H duology.

Didn't say it was. The first game is a carbon-copy of the first Star Wars movie, with a giant space station, a Wookiee, a quest of a purity-pure Jedi-versus-Sith, and so on.

I enjoyed TSL because it took a magnifying glass to the Star Wars universe, not because 'muh grimdark'. It had much better writing and characters, not in every case (Disciple), than the first game and wasn't a simple clash between good and evil. That's the whole point of it having shades of grey. That's why you have a former Jedi/former Sith trying to wipe out both groups so that the galaxy can be rid of their religious wars, or a droid that's actively breaking the law, setting up a crime syndicate to save the Republic because his programming broke.

KOTOR was fun but bland, and TSL expanded on it in a way that made it interesting. So when you say "You're wrong" without providing examples as to why you just come off as 'muh black and white'.

Honestly, the way Kotor 2 combined dark storytelling and world building with a mentor/villain who's main schtick is all about deconstructing the Force was great.

I can see why people think it's overrated but it's not like we have another SW game like it apart from the first KOTOR.

Plus there's Atton's feelings on the Jedi and Sith.

Not well. Duel of The Fates was meant to be representative of the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith. So unless it's showing something going on between the two, it'd be heavily out of place. Just like it would be if playing Battle of Heroes without Vader or Obi-wan involved, or The Imperial March with no Empire, or playing the Sith hymn with no Sith. It just doesn't work.
