Yellow: R&D. Peridot, a tech Gem, is in her court. She's considered the most rational decider. YD made the Cluster, or at the very least was somehow responsible for it. The most we've seen from her in the way of soldiers (that were originally hers). They're at least okay for protecting technicians or doing grunt work, but not actually going to war as anything but cannon fodder. Also, there's parallels with Princess Bubblegum and the banana guards.
Blue: Colonization. Lapises for terraforming. Sapphires for seeing potential hitches. Agates to train Gems that just popped out of the ground.
Kindergartens fall under both colonization and science, so they're likely a team effort between Blue and Yellow, hence Peridot being green.
Pink: Military. Every Gem we've seen that's been confirmed to be from her court has been a soldier. Yellow likely took her place after she was shattered.
White: Too soon to say. Probably the leader of the other Diamonds and all of Homeworld.

Status quo means the state of things. The state of things has not changed in Steven Universe. All the arcs are self-contained. The characters develop but not in a significant enough way to alter their dynamic. Redeemed characters like Lapis and Peridot are cast aside to an isolated location; their presence there does not add to the show's central premise. Plenty of episodes still follow the same formulas because nothing has changed to prevent that. Many of the episodes from seasons 3 and 4 could have aired in season 1 with at most minor changes.

It's still the same show it always was. Sometimes there's a monster. Sometimes a townie has a problem. Sometimes Homeworld does something, then that something gets dealt with, and life goes on as usual. That's called status quo.

The football pull away was Amethyst, the twirling and explaining sports was Pearl, sitting together playing video games could've been Garnet, at one point she winked and pointed that would be Greg. He doesn't know what she was like, but he does know what his other parental figures are like so he just smashed them together.

I like this episode. This is literally the only good way the writers could get Steven to talk about how he really feels. I'm very certain rose is just a figment of the room, not real, due to what I said above and the scene where Steven tries to take a picture and can't because no one is actually there. I think that's plenty obvious enough that the writers did not intend for this to be open to interpretation.

But Steven can't talk to the gems or his dad about how he feels because they lie to him, Connie has no idea what he's going through and wouldn't be able to help anyway, and an episode of Steven laying in bed brooding isn't fun for anyone. Great storytelling.
