The flaw in this is that Marco has already acknowledged that he put Jackie on a pedestal without actually knowing her but still felt he was the best man for her to be with. That's a level of dedication I've never really seen towards a crush, which is usually based almost entirely on lust. If Marco just threw that away because he "suddenly" has romantic feelings for Star when there's been no buildup at all towards it (Eat shit BMB fags) and Marco's feelings for Star have never been addressed outside of the one off instance where someone asked if Star was his girlfriend. In comparison to Star, who's had multiple moments in the show where she had to confront her feelings for Marco.

By the end of the season, over the span of two episodes? It would be pretty forced, yeah. The season finale's blurb specifically says they're still on the rocks from whatever happens in "Just Friends" (and it probably won't get much better in "Face the Music"), and so much shit is going on that all points to things getting worse before they get better.
I could see a reconciliation, even some shoulder-crying and hugs, but that's not anything more than the end of S1. Marco coming onto her while she's vulnerable and he's still dating Jackie would be totally out of character, and I doubt he's breaking up with her anytime soon unless they shit on her character too. But, Star taking the reconciliation/comfort too far and trying to kiss him or even worse, confess to him would be the culmination of the "Star fucking up everything" theme the season has had, and forcing him to reject her would probably be enough to push her off the deep end.

I'd say the premise was alright, the key thing was to highlight that overuse of dimensional scissors has consequences and that Marco still has a strong desire to live a life filled with adventures. A point that I imagine will be important later on in the series.

Hindered in some cases (moreso in the first season), does well with it in others (moreso in the second season). I'm not sure how many work fine vs. how many don't since I haven't rewatched recently and it's not like I kept a tally.

I wish they could all be 22 minutes, but since I also like a lot of the stories and want to preserve them (rather than cutting out half to make it the same number of half hours) I've grown used to the format by now and don't really wish it were different.

It depends on the staff on the episode to be perfectly honest. Some episodes do a great job with the 11 minutes, even with the more plot driven episodes.

Other episodes however feel far too barren, lack sufficient secondary or tertiary character development or flat out splurge on exposition. I'd like the more successful staff to try and share their expertise with the other members of the creative team to avoid some of those pitfalls. Overall the show does fine with the 11 minute format, with the occasional 22 minute episode for more serious episodes.

Just making it seem like English is the common language for interdimensional communication in this alternate universe cartoon world where magic and dimensional travel is a known fact is, while not realistic in any sense, sort of more logical for this show than making the question of Star's language a constant issue.
