I thought she was a good narrative device and it was fun to see the CGs spar with an old friend of theirs. Plus, it was a good bottle episode for the 100th (or whatever significant number it was) that both has no immediate significance on the rest of the series and has underlying significance with character interactions.

She wants to shatter the upper crust Gems. Not just the ones who did anything wrong. They all need to be punished, which is part of the tumblr mindset.

Bismuth is also just a really charismatic and convincing character altogether, both in universe and in meta. Rose had to bubble her for a reason. They just don't want to accept that she was in the wrong, because they want to feel like they're good people who fight for just causes, in this case racist and unfair represention of minorities (blacks), so they're kind of looking for reasons to get upset.

Bismuth is "coded" black, she's got dreads and a black VA and sort of acts like a black person might, and there's this sort of anger against the oppressors and so forth, so a lot of sjws have decided she symbolises black people and their struggle against slavery, and thus if she's written into making bad choices or being violent and unreliable etc, they interpret it as portraying all black people as volatile criminals or whatever.

Essentially it's a case of projecting your own headcanons, values or assumptions onto a character and then getting angry if the character acts in a way that would conflict with that.

A similar example with Lapis is the people who

The pacing was weird because so much of the episode was spent on Connie's increasing anxiety about her mom's whereabouts. Once that's resolved, halfway through the episode, it starts building Steven's anxiety about not knowing his mom. By the time we actually get to the meat of the episode, when Steven finally meets Rose, the episode is practically over and the whole situation is resolved in about a minute.

This didn't happen by accident. The problem, from a narrative standpoint, is that you can't have Steven spend too much time with Rose because the more scenes they share and the more dialogue she gets, the less ambiguous you can leave her status - is she the real Rose, or just something the room constituted to satisfy Steven's desire? So you have to minimize her screen time and wrap it up, quickly.
