Let's the question I'm sure you've been wondering since Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, "What happened to Hector Ayala, the White Tiger?"

I think it's one of those things that happens when writers forget that things that are popular in the real world, may not be in comics.

Like, is the fact that there is a "Batcave" common knowledge in DC? Maybe not, but everyone knows it's a thing in the real world.

Well, that was a bummer. See you Anons next time when the guy who almost killed the Kingpin FINALLY gets his comeuppance.

There are a lot of writers who are genuinely terrible at setting themselves inside a fictional universe.
Like, could you imagine Bendis writing a high fantasy story? Or a space opera?

>Have you or any member of your immediate family had their lives positively affected by a superhero in any way.
>No
YOU'RE ALIVE. The fact that you are alive is due entire to the fact that several superheroes have saved the city/the world/the universe various times you ungrateful prick.

In once heard a story about all this.

According to the story, Joe Quesada took him into his office and said "If you're going to destroy a character that another creator has put all this work into creating and developing, how about you do them the fucking courtesy of calling them and asking them about it. How would you like it if I called up Kurt Busiek right now and asked him if it might be useful for him to kill off Jessica Jones in one of his books? You wouldn't like that? Then fucking give George Perez a call and get his permission before I sign off on this."

It's a great lesson about respecting the works of other creators the way you'd want your works to be respected by them. The fact that Quessada had to have this conversation with Bendis is telling. The fact that Bendis apparently didn't internalize ANYTHING from this conversation and went on to do the same thing over and over again afterwards even moreso.

It probably depends on if it's their book, I suppose. I don't expect that Christopher Priest called Roy Thomas when he killed off Iron Fist, for instance, but he was the one writing Power Man & Iron Fist.
