I'll agree that the OP pic doesn't look the best but you don't always need complex, highly detailed art styles for it to be aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes the simplest, fewest amount of well placed lines and curves is enough to be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer and I think this is actually an exercise they teach in art and animation schools. To draw poses and expressions using as few lines as possible.

Constructive critique, you need to have more node point density on your (vector?) inking tool. Or, if you're free-penning that then you need to up your smoothing factor on your pen(cil) tool. Or your tablet might need the data-points-per-inch turned up in its control panel.
Basically, your rounds aren't quite round for one of those related reasons. I'm not sure which programs/tablets you use for lineart so I can't tell you /exactly/ how to do that stuff but that should get you in the right direction.

You're stuff is A++ overall, but my autis... I mean, ARtistic, eyes can't unsee this.
Unless you're drawing on a toaster and manually turned those down down just to get good frames, in which case ignore me

Thanks for the feedback. I use a the pen tool in photoshop by mouse to make my lineart and color in my stuff. I'm such an eager beaver to get to the coloring stage though, I end up just going from point to point and making a series of straight lines with the pen tool because it feels quicker. I'm not sure if you're an expert on photoshop but I feel like I don't fully understand how the pen tool works. I know you can use it to make nice clean curves, but I find when I make the next point to make another curve, it uses the context of the previous curve to influence the shape/trajectory of the current one. I feel like I'm having to wrestle against it most of the time and making dummy points so my next curve isn't affected by the previous one I made. Ultimately it is just something I'm doing to save time because I have bunch of requests to work on and I'm feeling the pressure to get it all done. If there is a more efficient way to use the pen tool or there is some other tool that is good for making lineart then please let me know! I want to get better at this. I'm still very much a noob when it comes to photoshop.

It's so simple you'll surely feel as stupid as I did when I first figured it out, if you make two points to have a line you can hit control and grab one of those bezier handles hanging off the dot and drag it around... That's it. That is literally all you have to do. I was manually dragging arrays of points for MONTHS and spending so many times the effort required until I actually bothered to learn that.

It'll be both nicer and faster that way once you get it down pat.

Addendum cuz I see I missed part of what you were saying, when the line is acting like the other points are influencing it then the ALT key is your friend same as the control key. When you start with alt the new point inherits nothing from the previous points.

That's how you beat "wrestling the line". When you know you want a new curve independent of the last curve you hit alt as you place it.

I started playing back in 2012, and by 2013 my KD was 1.10. Then I spent a year improving and it was a 2.30 by the end of 2013. Then by the end of 2014 it was 3.40. Then by the end of 2015 it was 3.55. Now its a 4.04. You can definitely fix that shit if you have really improved.

Glad I was able to help in spite of being addled by crunch time and too much coffee. This link can also help you practice, the guide is outdated to a degree but the psd homework is still good and teaches you what you can do with combinations of click, alt, shift, control and dragging.

You've good talent so I could tell it was just a case of your tools betraying you one way or another. The very FASTEST way to work if you have a tablet is to use the freeform pen tool then adding and dragging nodes around to clean up your lines. You can with practice whip out most of an outline by hand in a good stroke and then use the nodes to get it picture-perfect. Also rotate your work, you work best when gesturing downwards with your dominant hand.

It isn't on-model for TT but you'll want to practice with pressure sensitive brushes that use line smoothing eventually. It can be done nearly as fast (rotate and do all the downstrokes you can, rotate again, etc.) and with the pressure sensitive line size you can imply so much more: distance, movement, an organic je ne sais quoi...
What TT uses is called clear-line style, but if you look at the work of other illustrators like kirby the lines themselves are as much a part of the drawing as the anatomy or composition.
Not to say weighted lines are the only way to be expressive. The illustrators of TT often make starfire extremely expressive using feature deformation (like literally raising and lowering the mouth relative to the static nose as she speaks). It's something you'll want in your toolkit all the same.

Thanks for taking time out of your crunch work to give me some advice. I've played around a bit with that psd tutorial. I'm not sure I can make use of pressure sensitive brushes since I'm using a mouse but I appreciate it regardless (especially the little tidbits about the shows art style and animation tricks). I don't do commissions. I'm not comfortable taking money to make art for people since I'm not a professional. I feel like artists like reiq or sakimichan have talent that is deserving of people paying them for their work. But then again, every once in a while you do find some amateur artist thats making some good money on patreon which just contradicts what I believe. I just feel like I should have this level of skill with art like understanding anatomy, colors, lighting, etc before I start taking commissions.

Well, you fooled my trained eyes! You should consider a getting a pad, you'd clearly make great use of one. A Huion Giano is just 140~$ and is probably the best entry-level pad that they still make new.

Yeah, knowing HOW people do what they do is everything. I'd give you the advice to not overthink the technics and to just draw the inner image and feeling you see and feel when you're actually drawing... but some education in styles and methods can only do a person good. It lets you see under the hood of other people's work and get how you can do it too. So read these!

Even if you never draw a single comic strip nor make a single animation, even if all you do is make pinup cheesecake the advice in these books will be invaluable for setting up scene, background, weight and organic feeling. Not to slight cheesecake pinups, mind, If anything I wish the people who made pinup had more craft and fundamentals so their cheesecake would feel as weighted and juicy as the classics. You can't possibly be too try-hard when drawing something as transcendent as hips n tiddies.

I am 18 years young. I dropped out of middle school as a 14 year old due to crippling health issues, both mental and physical. Bipolar and anxiety always ran in my family, and my mother has Bipolar and my great grandmother has schizophrenia. I could barely sit still in school at all, I could not focus or even fucking think more than a few sentences. Could not participate in class discussion even. Too much in my head. And I was extremely suicidal and depressed and my moods were everywhere.

Anyways, we spent 2 years figuring out a combination of mood stabilizers, anti-depressents, and anti-psychotics that didnt make me homicidal as fuck(I once tried to charge my neighbor with a steak knife because I ran out of cereal. Thankfully she was a family friend and knew of the shit I was going through and the drug I just got on which caused increased aggression or we woulda had some unneeded legal issues.)

Anywho, after finding the correct combination, my though process slowed down alot and I could breath and think clearly, but I stll could barely focus on shit. I then spent a year lookng for an add medication that worked right for me, and I just now found one, but I have to wait for my insurance to approve it one last time to get a refill.

I was on it for about a month, and in that month I managed to get my GED with honors. It was that powerful. This drug pretty much is what I am hoping will lead to a semi functional life.

One time the meds fucked me up so bad I got baker acted and missed my birthday in the hospital. Another time the meds I had been taking for like a year suddenly started causing paralysis of the tongue. Apparently facial paralysis was common and the solution was benadryl, but you can't swallow without your tongue, so I had to take injections like a druggie.
