Here's the most recent monster design I worked on for my webcomic, Monster Lands. She's the main antagonist of the next long-form chapter.

Do written OCs count?

A cheerful goth girl with huge, purple pigtails, a purple dress, and a huge, tremendously fat purple cigar clenched between her grinning teeth. She lives seemingly alone in an old, bug infested manor. Her name is Lilly Cob.

Personality wise, she's very cheerful and casual about things like danger and death, even when it's her own life. She loves bugs, ghosts, and all things macabre.

A few years ago, her family was cursed and began dying one by one, leaving only Lilly left. Lilly figures that since it's only a matter of time before she passes, she'll make the most of it. The ghosts of her family members sometimes manifest in the smoke of her cigar.

Sometimes, like during special occasion or formal events, she uses a fancy black cigar holder (basically like a cigarette holder, but designed to hold cigars) for her cigar.

In front of her manor is the graveyard, where each of her family members are buried. There's even a grave for her, thought it of course hasn't been filled yet.

She owns a large carnivorous plant in her manor's garden who she treats like a pet.

First of some drawings I'm doing to get myself to do more then bust shots, her name is Anne. She's rather lazy, rarely doing any more then what is required of her. She spends most of her time outside of her job at the local movie theater in front of the TV, or bumming around town.
She isn't the brightest person, and can sometimes come off as being rude, ignorant or uneducated but genuinely tries not to.

He’s a human barbarian grappler, and if you look closely, you might notice he ripped off the front half of a bear and used it as pants.

his junk is in the bear’s head, so there are a lot of jokes about the bear head slowly moving up to look at someone.

i’m trying to get a mechanic approved where his chest hair deals damage during a grapple.

Try to do more dynamic poses that would justify the characters having their arms bend or stretch. If it's just for them standing still, try having one or two of them having their arms crossed or doing something, such as typing on a phone or playing with a yoyo.

oh man I like dat. There's a lot to take in, and not in a bad way, but in more of a fun to epxlore the image kinda way.
Since it's so stylized I think the big focus as far as improvement would have to be for composition. When I look at it, my eye is drawn to the top left with the guy in the helicopter, then it follows the spotlight down. I think the problem is the spotlight lands on the center of the giant... caterpillar guy on one of the most featureless parts of em. So I guess maybe that's something to think about next time. Also, because the helicopter is kinda the focal point, you might want to have more of / all of it in the picture because it's awkward having a the focus object cut off that much. Still love it though.


Anyway, I haven't posted here in quite some time. Have some random sketches of questionable integrity.

Character Wolve's Bane.

She's a Visha Kanya (Poison woman) who's been toxic since birth. Her skin is an irritant akin to poison ivy. Her spit is poisonous enough that prolonged exposure to it can cause Nausea, fainting and could be fatal if exposed long enough. Even one drop of her blood is enough to kill a full grown man. And of course she's immune to poisons and toxins.

She spent a lot of her childhood as a food tester and ended up gaining a lot of weight, but after she meets an assassin who she takes a liking to she decides to use her toxicity as a weapon.

this is The Tzar (цapь) he can release blasts of energy that can destroy continents, obviously he is a mighty ruler that rules with an iron fist and whom everyone fears...but deep down inside he is afraid of his own power, and understandably he cant actually use it whenever he wants because he doesnt want to obliterate his own kingdom, he may only use it on the battlefield and even then as a last resource since he cant very well conquer ashes.

Good work with the pose, got a sorta contrappasto look, which is always solid. There's a nice, believable twist in the torso and the legs look pretty legit! Just work on the hands and legs and you're on the right track! Keep at it, Anon!

Decided to scan some sketches in relation to my side story. There's a part in which a large congregation of cursed people (called Denizens) converge upon a large stake-like structure impaled into a massive crag.

A simple sketch, but there's no harm in sharing those as well, lol.

And one more, this time of the stake itself. It's called the Slumbering Stake, essentially a giant padlock to keep the Denizens' deity locked inside the earth, to whom they're desperate to unearth. Too bad that's exactly why the stake is a trap.

I posted an idea for two different main characters a while back. I want to throw out a side character.

First one is a demon girl who lives in limbo or a low level of hell. Her human form either have features of either middle eastern or Hispanic descent. She wants to go to one of the higher levels of hell like any other demon. The best way to go up the ladder is corrupting either holy men such as a priest or a hero. So she discovers the main character and thinks she just hit the jackpot. Her plan is to slowly influence him, corrupt him, and possibly use him to take out any competition. He thinks she's just someone who uses dark magic and his go to girl to fight problems that involve the occult. Instead of influencing him to do terrible acts, it's more of fighting dirty/cutting loose and he influences her to be a better person. When she does reveal herself and tell the truth, he will be incredibly surprised considering he's a Catholic and has no idea what the hell to do.

If you are just starting out, you're pretty good with heads. Either start adding shadows, or bodies (a body is this thing below the head in case you're unaware).

If you just copied what you saw, try drawing from scratch, drawing a face/person from any angle.

in my opinion as long as the focus of the panel is the same as the last then I don't see see a reason to use it as a base, as long as some changes are made to make it distinct from the last. the shadow looming over the frame for example, makes it just different enough to not be too boring to look at.

I'd say it would depend on what kind of tablet you want to get. I was able to snag a Ugee 1910b for 380 dollars, nearly 50 dollars below the average price. However if you're just starting out, I'd recommend maybe a 50 dollar tablet that makes you look at a screen to draw as opposed to the tablet. It will feel weird at first but it helps you get used to the layout and features of a tablet, as well as how whatever program you're using works.
