The framing of that last image is one of the best shots in RWBY. Everyone's posture and body language directs attention to the empty space on the other side of the foot of the bed. Couple that with Jaune sitting exactly like he did the last time he and Pyrrha were together. Then you can see that even though Nora and Ren had just had a moment of Romance the interaction is completely different here. It's all consoling. It really subtly depicts the loss they've gone through without even saying anything about it. I think this moment is all about Pyrrha, and her team missing her. But that's just an interpretation and even though everything in the narrative and staging me point to that conclusion the CRWBY team let it set there in subtlety. We have not seen the remainders of JNPR mourn her loss together, and if this is all we get from it I'll call it a win for subtlety and emotional impact over a dialogue-heavy sad scene.

So with the volume over, I went back over the previous volumes to see what other throwbacks/mentions there were (like Ruby being on the chair whilst Qrow sleeps mirroring the end of last volume).

And DAMN did I not realise just how good the second half of V3 is compared to the rest of the show. The sheer climb in quality as the chapters go is insane. I think it may have been my main issue with V4. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good.

Even smaller aspects like the background music just shit over most of V4.

It was the grandiose ending of Volume 3 that set it apart from the other volumes. The shock and awe of Penny, Roman and Pyrrha dying in the span of a few episodes just gut checked so much that it distracts from everything the previous volumes built with character development. Not to say they're not good volumes, but so far Volume 3 is still the best with the tournament, set pieces, music, fights etc.

Ruby wasn't at or anyway near the top of the tower when Cinder and Pyrrha exchanged the lines "Do you believe in Destiny?" And "Yes".

Ruby has no way of knowing this was said.
Even for her subconscious to know it, Ruby had to still hear the exchange.

This exchange is part of her nightmare, when by all accounts this should be impossible.

This can only be one of two things.
M&K fucking up badly and throwing in any old meaningful Pyrrha quote, while failing to consider that maybe people will assume shit when they introduce body and memory sharing between two souls.

I mean, we do know that everything with a soul has an aura, so it would be impossible for a person to not have an aura and if we assume that an aura always comes with a semblance, it might be impossible to not have a semblance at all but it might be possible to not be able to ever use it because you lack the power to unlock it or something like that.

I'm annoyed how little anyone in RWBY uses their superpowers. Take Qrow's transformation, for example. He can transform to his human from in the blink of an eye and move straight to a dead sprint. That'd be immensely useful for chaotic fights when you can essentially disappear momentarily.
