Didn't know /r9k/ had its own comic.
There's a literal robot and everything.
Giving it a female lead was a huge mistake though; no wonder they never talk about it.

I personally like the part where Lex breaks down finally comprehending how Superman sees the world. That scene in which Superman assures Lex that he believes that deep down Lex is a good person and Lex spits him in his face is wonderful.
Hell, when he's comparing Clark to Superman just to make a point about how much he respects Clark is amazing as well. The best parts of Superman All Star had Lex on it, at least in my opinion.

All Star Superman its full with wonderful moments.
I like that part where Clark tell to Luthor that instead of helping Superman to better the world as he always claimed he will die like a mad dog in a yard.
I like how Supes slips out of the character in that part.

Why is Lois black? I hate this tendency of revising comic characters to reflect "diversity". As a Mexican, I'd feel weird seeing a comic portraying Batman as a Mexican coming from an immigrant family who illegally came to America and beat all the odds. Stuff like this just feels out of place and oddly pitiful.

That's just an error in the copying if the image. All Star Lois is white. That or someone went through the trouble of coloring her black.

I'm talking divorce rates, not number of divorces. So there is no direct effect on lower marriages leading to lower divorces.

But it could show that with less people marrying, a higher percentage of marriages are with people that actually end up staying together. Which is a good thing, right?

>funny how you spent so much time trying to normalize gay marriage you forgot to normalize straight marriage too
I don't know what kind of delusion you're living in where straight marriage isn't seen as normal.

people dont even bother to try anymore

why dont you kill everyone so theree is no more murder in the world too?

I had my mother horrible sick for years in a hospital with a pretty much chance of miracle survival rate, she even lived through a moment when her heart stopped. I later heard from her that my dad contemplated suicide if she were to do.

...and then the miracle happened and she made a recovery. Yet two of my friends' mothers died in the following years due to cancer. I always am wondering - what would happened to me if she was gone, would I have strength to carry on. I know she'll gonna pass away at some point and I constantly dread this moment.

A big part of superman is that he's not just a big net to catch meteors, or a big gun to shoot monsters, he's SuperMAN, the theoretical epitome of what a good person is. He's the hero who saves both when a villain makes him choose between two lives, he's the fireman who save a little girl AND her teddy bear, he's the business man who nails the big presentation AND finds time to make it to his son's school play. While a lot of villains fly over people and look down and just see ants, he looks down at people the same way they look up at him.

Ah the New X-Men. I think that the entire issue of where pic-related is shown is the biggest tearjerker in the run. The reason being is that it shows perfectly how this kids have morphed after M-Day.

For context, the boy is Julian Keller. When he was first was written into the New Mutants, he was an arrogant asshole he was so confidant and sure of who he was. Now, as pic-related shows, his entire life has been turned upside down because of the things he has seen and witnessed.

The comic in general nails the feel of how you feel when you're going through tough shit as a teen and the knowledge that because you are different someone wants you dead.

Superman also knows he cannot save everyone. He can't stop every mugging. He can't stop every murder. He's not a pre-crime detective. He's the man of steel, but he cannot save everyone. So while people see that he can't and complain that he's spending time trying to convince people not to take their lives or save a cat out of a tree, it's not the point. Superman would rather spend two hours convincing someone on the top of a roof trying to commit suicide there is a life worth living because it shows the best of us, that we should care for one another. One random act of kindness can make all the difference for another person in how they see life.

Posting Hitman #34 is cheating. But fuck. It's one of the greatest Superman stories of all time and completely nails what Superman is about.

Marriage was always a tool by society. It is supported by the state because a married couple will better support any child born into the family. It's the reason there are tax benefits and the government straight up pays you when you are married with children. It would be a lot more pressure on the state if there was just some dude impregnating every girl he saw without supporting his children. It's why almost every single society has some form of marriage or person-linking, even if they were kept in complete isolation or they don't have a strong cultural concept of romantic love.

There is a reason marriage rates go DOWN once a society hits a certain point of technological and human ethical achievement. Birth control, feminism, and safe abortion procedures take away from the necessity of marriage.

I think if he's really invested in his work he's a great writer. Ultimate Spider-Man, Powers, New Avengers, and Daredevil all showcase Bendis at his absolute best. His dialog is a bit gimicky at times but damn if he doesn't write some fantastic speeches for charaters. Murdock (616), Osborn (616 and 1610), and PEter (1610) are all characters that could benefit from Bendis' writing.

Imo he's the best modern cape comics writer. No one else really comes close to producing as much consistently good work in the superhero genre today. Sure there are some golden and silver age writers who might be better, but for the modern age he is the writer with the most works in the superhero genre that that can't be called truly great. I don't love everything he does (I was very disappointed in New X-men) but he barely even has any competition. All the big cape writers today are kinda garbage. Bendis and Johns suck.
>>
>>89227227
Transmetropolitan was great through and through. The ending had me in tears and laughter cramps.
>>
>>89226508
It's more about the context than anything.
>Grant Morrison erased THE most important marriage in the history of comics just so he could do some 40s style "Lois loves Supes but Hates Clark" shit
>Made absolutely sure to do a page where Clark hears another man fucking the woman of his dreams
>Even though she dislike's Clark, she get livid and catty about OTHER women liking him as is she needs him to be a loser to validate her hatred of him.
>OUTS CLARK KENT AS SUPERMAN WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THE RAMIFICATIONS ON THE PEOPLE HE KNOWS AND PROTECTS then tries to act like she's the victim when Supes points out that she did literally right before he lost a lot of his powers and could easily be killed by Superaman-tier baddies.

No, she's a bitch and we're glad that the well developed pre-Flashpoint Lois is back. The pic of Clark hearing her shit-talk him as he leaves is almost exactly like the break-up of Mary Jane and Peter after One More Day, which no one liked.

I thought about that comic when my mom died. I would say that when I lost my mother it was like the world lost a color. Everything just seemed grayer and more drab. It's frustrating because the world just goes on without you and no one else seems to understand that the world just isn't as bright as it was yesterday. Because of course for them, it isn't. It's a crazy thing really. You don't think about your mother's love like it's a tangible thing until it's gone. Then the world just seems so scary and empty without it.

I don't think you understand just how much of our infrastructural might goes into making it so that hospitals never have to operate on triage conditions.

That being said, Superman is a volunteer he doesn't take the same oaths that a doctor does, and thus isn't bound by them.

If you seriously expect him to see that situation and go
>Well that sucks, but I have more people to save than just this one person
then I don't think you understand the character. Which is kind of baffling considering how iconic he is.
