No. Rooster Teeth just doesn't want any outside fingers in their in-house gumbo, even if those fingers want to add flavors and spices that would otherwise improve it.

They had three volumes under Monty to improve. They did it *Slightly* with volume three.
And now they're backtracking on all of that improvement in volume 4.
The show looks beautiful now, but pacing is a fucking mess. Characters that should be getting more screen time aren't, while characters that should getting little to no screentime are.

And given how short episodes are...I have no idea how they're going to turn this shit around in four episodes. It would take a fucking miracle.

I'd argue they need an editor, not necesserily a third writer.

The only editing they apparantly get is Burnie saying it's too long, without actually touching up any of the content.

A third writer could work, but it would have to be someone really trustworthy that knows what their doing, because a sperging fanboy that proceeds to turn the show into their personal fanfic would make it even worse.

Granted, eventually RvB was passed on to new people, and they made that work, so maybe eventually someone else could take over, by that's likely not for years.

There was a marked improvement with RWBY. I got my Britfriend and my Califriend into RWBY without telling either of them ANYTHING about the background, and they both said they hated watching it until Volume 3, where they genuinely liked it.

Weiss has always come off as the most difficult to cosplay, and not look terrible, to me, simply because of her hair.

You pretty much have to get a wig, whereas you can say fuck it with Ruby and just use your natural dark hair by itself, and if you really want a totally accurate portrayal, clip in some red hair extensions and cut to size.

Blake and Yang are even easier because any blonde or dark haired person could cosplay them no problem.

So speaking of Japanese fans, and the fanbase in general, has anyone noticed that RWBY got way more popular in the past year.

On a whim I checked the RT youtube channel and
The Red Trailer is at 11 million views.
Chapter 1 is at 8 million views.
Every other chapter in volume 1 and 2 has minimum 2 million views with some having as many as 4 million(a year ago some barely had 1 million views)

And Volumes 3 and 4 are steadily climbing in views as more people get caught up.

I'm personally a little suspicious of the idea that Grimm chow down on negative emotions. Emerald was clearly scared the fuck out of her mind in that scene where a grimm shows up to meet Salem yet it didn't even truly register her from it's POV.
The fact that they have an intelligence controlling them (And the bigger they are the smarter they are) means that most of the grimm attacks upon major cities/settlements may not have been due to a dinnerbell ringing so much as a premeditated attack.

Even assuming the negative emotions attracting grimm theory is absolutely accurate it's still strange that only one grimm singled out Torchwick out of the thousands flying everywhere.

Roman also died when he was starting to blab about how he's really just a cog in the machine. The Grimm may have actually attacked simply to shut him up or for being a loose end since that speech he was making makes it sound like Torchwick was clearly in over his head and knew it the whole time with no way out.

Or I'm just overthinking things since those dudes at RT are trying to retroactively patch holes they make all the time.

Kind of a shame that Torchwick never got a hold of Penny. Since he was pinocchio's best friend in the original tale we could have seen delinquent tomboy Penny having adventures for a bit.

Basically, iirc Jaune was supposed to witness Pyrrha's death, not Ruby, and Pyrrha was supposed to go toe-to-toe with full-Maiden Cinder.
Both of which seem like terrible alternatives to what we got. Pyrrha was exceptional, yes, but her Semblance was significantly less useful against Cinder who didn't wield metal, and Cinder in general has to be a powerful individual to be trusted with so important tasks by Salem. Not to mention the fuck-you powers she got. "Exceptional" student coming close to beating a supercharged veteran is stupid.
Jaune being left in the dark was more powerful than him seeing her die ever would be. His breakdown scene when he tells Ruby to save her was the one which made his character not shit.

Originally Yang would be able to fight Adam equally for a bit, before he eventually backed her into a corner and cut her arm off. This was changed to him instantly chopping her arm off and her never standing a chance.

And then Pyrrha was going to almost beat Cinder (who was much weaker) but Jaune shows up and ends up allowing for Cinder to get the kill on her.

Basically they powered up the bad guys immensely to make it so they never had a chance, and then cut Jaune out of the fight entirely and made it of Pyrrha just died because Cinder was that much better.

The former was a mistake in my opinion because now they have to make the good guys equally overpowered for them to inevitably win. But I can see why they changed the Jaune thing. The last thing he needs is people blaming him for Pyrrha's death more than they already do.

It makes some sense, but not a whole lot. Taking out one of the strongest main characters in one hit just by absorbing a few 9mm rounds is a pretty big feat. If the Black trailer is anything to go by, he was barely even using his Semblance due to lack of effects.
If it had been more obvious that he's powered up the scene would've been better. Both to explain the utter curbstomp better, and make it more obvious that Yang did the wrong thing by barging in.
As it is, I think any of the other three would have attacked immediately if their partner was the one getting stabbed by a random guy.

Seriously, the pacing on this show makes a lot more sense if you remember the production schedule of the first three volumes was fucked, and the original plan was for that story to be the first season to get the ball rolling on the real plot

And then Salem blows up Pyrrha which causes Ruby to go through another insane power up (Because Pyrrha was already revived by the mcguffin once, and can't be revived again unless it's with the moon version of the mcguffin) and then they proceed to battle with fisticuffs on the dragon continent, which is five minutes away from exploding, which is actually accurate because RT would never animate something for longer than they'd have to.
