Like, WW debuted in WWII. And in WWII, there was literally no moral ambiguity because the other side managed to top itself in sheer evil.

WWI's there to make it easier for Wondy to shake her head at the futility of war and the need for peace. Because if it was WWII and she was proposing peace with the Axis powers, she'd deserve five across the fucking face for being a stupid slut.
