To be fair, Jaune's not really a loner loser. I mean yeah he was bullied in one arc in vol 1 but after that he's relatively normal. Weiss is pretty much looking to be a loner loser at te current arc but thinkfs change.

If Atlas/Mantle had been the ones to lose the Great War, there's no chance in hell Atlas would have been allowed to grow to become (so far at least) Remnant's sole superpower, nor would their parking of battleships over Vale airspace be as welcomed as it was in Volume 2
It is possible that Mantle switched sides at some point during the war, leaving Mistral to take the brunt of the blame, but that wouldn't explain how Mistral culture has become a major export, unless Mistral's cultural spread was precipitated by a post-war cultural revolution as Mistral re-examined itself and its culture to understand what happened
