They probably didn't start it to make a huge profit. It's about getting the diversity check mark on social media and the press.

Yep. It's forced diversity, but the good kind where they don't really glorify his ethnicity and actually do some fun stuff with it instead. New Super-man is a bit slow and actually a bit of a bully, but still charming enough that you can't help but like him and want to see him improve. Unlike a certain other company that does this sort of stuff, the writers here actually made sure to give him a personality.
