No problem
Just rewatched the Season 4 primiere and I'm so miffed that Clark was capable of flight since season 4 and the writers never had him go full Supes because they had the rule "To tights, no flights" and they kept to their word till the final episode.
Here's a question to those of you reading, which TV multiverse do you like more?
>Smallville Multiverse
Earth 1 - Clark Kent
Earth 2 - Clark Luthor
-Very likely other possible Earths
>CW Multiverse
Arrow, Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow Universe
Supergirl Universe
-Very likely other universes will be added.
Also how would we all rate the DC Animated movies that have come out?
>Batman
Batman: Gotham Knight
Batman: Under the Red Hood
Batman: Year One
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman: Assault on Arkham
Son of Batman
Batman vs. Robin
Batman: Bad Blood
Batman: The Killing Joke
>Justice League
Justice League: The New Frontier
Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
Justice League: Doom
Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
Justice League: War
Justice LeagueThrone of Atlantis
Justice League: Gods and Monsters
Justice League vs. Teen Titans
>Superman
Superman: Doomsday
All Star Superman
Superman vs. The Elite
Superman: Unbound
>Superman/Batman
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse
>Green Lantern
Green Lantern: First Flight
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights
>Single Movies
Wonder Woman
How would you rate these movies? Some are great. Some aren't. I'd like to know which is which.
>Here's a question to those of you reading, which TV multiverse do you like more?
Currently, I'd say the Smallville Universe is intriguing me more than the CW. Recently the CW isn't doing it for me and Smallville is providing a wealth of ideas unique to the series. Sometimes the risks it took didn't pay off, but I feel like Smallville took WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY more risks Than CW or Arrow.
------------Batman Movies-----------
Batman: Gotham Knight
>This movie can't be summed up by a single score. Instead each story is it's own entity.
Working Through Pain<In Darkness Dwells (this was a fantastic story but the ending of Working Through Pain was legendary)<Deadshot<Field Test<Crossfire<Have I got a story for you
Batman: Under the Red Hood
>Streamlined story that tells the tale of how Jason Todd returned to shit on Batman's front porch.
>Jensen Ackles knocked it out of the park. I didn't know he had the depth.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kscfb9XzPs
Dimaggio manages to bring his absolute A-Game and makes the Joker uniquly his own. Other voice actors may have attempted to replicate Hamill and instead Dimaggio did his own thing. Fucking great.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vay4-ieB1fk
Batman: Year One
>This is a movie that has grown on me the older I get. Cranston is god tier as gordon and Mackenzie is serviceable as Bruce.
>I really enjoy it but it's not for everyone.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
>Christopher Drake brings this movie to life with his amazing soundtrack.
Emerson is one of the most unique Jokers every brought to the screen and Weller brings gravitas to a role dominated to Conroy. It's a full feature length film. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
Batman: Assault on Arkham
>A better and more complete Suicide Squad movie than we got in theaters.
Son of Batman
Batman vs. Robin
Batman: Bad Blood
>Interesting....a Damien saga isn't what I wanted...but it's not awful....
>I feel the movies got progressively better but that's just me.
Batman: The Killing Joke
>I have no idea how to feel about this movie.
>Really, I don't have any opinion. For everything I like there is something equally dispicable. Right when I think it's gaining traction it creates it's own scenes while ruining the mood/tone in others. I'm baffled this is what we got.

Pretty much my thoughts, though I couldn't finish the Damian movies and I didn't watch TKJ and Gotham Knight.
Only two more "main arcs" in Season 11 and two more "side stories" until we will be done with the Smallville Universe. Afterward here is the posting order.

6. Geoff Johns - (Secret Origin, Up Up and Away, Last Son, Escape from Bizarro World, Legion of Superheroes, Braniac).
7. Action Comics #775
8. Kurt Busiek Superman? (I'd appreciate issue numbers).
(If peeps can recommend other Post-Crisis Superman stories I'd be appreciative).
Batman Revisited because peeps asked.
1.Batman and Robin (Tomasi)
2. Robin, Son of Batman
3. Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader
Other Publishers

2. Powers (Bendis) - At least Volume 1
3. The Dark Tower (until the End of the Gunslinger)
-- SUPERBRO SAGA --
I found a link on reddit that appears to have a complete chronology of all of Superbro's adventures. If someone could clarify whether or not that list is miss/less accurate I could start collecting and compliling the Superbro Saga and get it uploaded to mega ASAP.

I'm willing to place the Superbro saga-Tomasi Saga immediately after Post Crisis Superman or I can keep the order I have. Whatever /co/'s collective preference is.

I think the CW is richer on the TV than Smallville ever was, simply because they're not afraid to go full comic book
The Smallville comics tho are way cooler than both
>>88384693
as far as blonde geek hacking girl sidekicks go, Chloe is a billion times better than Felicity
>>88386918
I agree with your assessment. The CW showed me what Smallville could have been capable of and I'm reading Smallville wishing the CW was a little more adventerous and not so afraid of telling more than one story (evil speedster barry has to overcome). Speeking as someone that fucking loves evil speedsters and didn't think he could be burnt out, I was wrong.
>>88386956
Chloe should strangle Felicity and then assume her identity. The only suspicious she would arise is why felicity is suddenly so much hotter and more bearable.
So what's everyone's favorite Superman story? Whether it be a single issue, set of issues, story arc or complete writer's run?
Mine has been stated numerous times, Adventures of Superman #612-623 is my favorite set of Superman comics of all time. It showed a new side of the character in contrast to the heroic strongman, a new direction for growth that encourages experimentation and creativity in story plot/structure, and these qualities have been rarely touched upon by any other writers since then.
>>88387112
I had to double take and make sure this wasn't ghost penciled by Ramos.

Love Secret Identity. That's why it's getting storytimed immediately after Millar's set of issues.
>I almost want to include Superior at the end of Millar's issues because Superior really is a seven issue love letter to Superman.
>>88387641
cool I was introduced to it via a storytime here years ago so hopefully some new people will be introduced to it again
>>88386984
I agree Flash is already getting really old with having the "big bad" be another evil speedster for the 3rd season in a row.
>>88387739
Honestly I'm baffled that they really chose to go that route for the third season. I'm not familiar with Flash's villains, so when it was just Alchemy the first few episodes I guessed that they must be introducing more evil magic to the show and was pretty excited. Then Savitar showed up and now it's just exhausting.
>>88387801
i agree. I dunno if it's because they moved Cold & Heatwave to LoT or what but the Rogues which are such a huge part of the Flash comics have been really under and mis-used IMO and would have made a great buffer between seasons of evil speedsters. Another thing is it just might be that compared to Tom Cavanagh's evil speedster, the rest have really sucked. Part of me feels that the reveal of Wells as Reverse-Flash should have maybe been a 2 season thing and they blew it by rushing it and using all the good ideas that 1st season and they just can't top it
>>88387896
If Cavanah's reveal was delayed till Season 2 people would have losed their collective shit. I feel like the problem with the CW writers is the same problem that Scott SNyder suffers from. They can both come up with some really great premises and carry the idea for a couple issues/episodes, but eventually there's going to come a point where we have to shift into the bulk of the story and that's where both writers fail to stick the landing.
Having Jay from Earth 2 was a good idea. Zoom being an evil demonic speedster with Tony Todd voice and a melty costume was a GREAT idea.
Having Zoom throw metas at Barry to improve his speed to "fatten" up his meal was a good idea (or am I just imagining that's what the writers intendend).
But where they failed was incorporating Jay into the ZOom plot. It's obvious they didn't have an identity for Zoom until halfway through the season and ultimately they went with the more difficult of options (which did not pay off). A safe way to end the season would have been to have Zoom be Earth 2 Barry's dopplengager that was mutated by the particle accelerator and he's jealous of this Barry's life hence the personal vendetta. They could have still killed Henry and still had this Barry try to destory the multiverse because he realizes that in every reality he will never have what this Barry had (2 loving fathers and a family) so he decides to end it all. Childish but workable.
BUT INSTEAD THEY WENT FOR THE TWIST THAT THEY HADN'T THOUGHT THROUGH YET!
Jay being Zoom is a smart play, but you need to have that shit worked out. They didn't have Jay/Zoom share space for the longest time so it worked until Zoom killed "Jay". Then it went into Time Remnant territory and the writers said "FUCK CONTINUITY" and embraced the mantra "SPEEDFORCE! AIN'T GOTTA EXPLAIN SHIT!". Unfortunately TV audiences aren't as forgiving to asspulls as comic readers are and rating subsequently dipped.
>>88388101
Won't lie, I definitely thought that Zoom was Barry-2 up until the moment they showed Barry-2 in the Earth-2 episode. The only problem with the theory was the fact that Zoom is so much bigger than Barry, but I wrote that off as a non-issue because I wanted it to be true so bad. Would have been a great reveal
>>88388209
Darn tootin, although nerd Barry with the sexually aggressive cop wife is living the dream.
>>88388466
I imagine they both got hunted down by Zoom as soon as the cast went back to Earth-1, their fates are unknown
>>88388101
Zoom being earth 2 barry would have at least owned the storyline better with the themes they wanted to use.
>>88382958
>meow
>>88383634
>the writers
It was the show runners fault, Gough and Miller. The writers didn't even necessarily keep track of mythos from S1 to S4, since they were a changing cast of guns for hire, pretty much, and the people who SHOULD be paying attention to continuity and those pesky little details, weren't. By the time they were writing the Justice League and JSA episodes, they should have had, at minimum, jumping over a tall building, but it was also probably an EFX budget thing, especially because 10, 12 years ago, The CW had even less money and the studio didn't have the worldwide syndication and streaming options that they do today to help defray and monetize those costs.
>>88384350
>Earth 2 - Clark Luthor
>-Very likely other possible Earths
Smallville didn't do enough about it and they haven't done what Flash (although it's mostly Flash Family, really with a few others, since Firestorm went off to LoT) and the D-CW today has a better set up, especially with Kara now having her own portal.
Rip Hunter and Booster's time sphere (when there was a multiverse) was essentially able to travel in bleed space as well, so they were able to traverse the multiverse.
Because of how LoT set up the "Timemasters" and the limitations of the Waverider, which seem to be high, LoT doesn't really have a way to traverse the multiverse, which would make it a lot more interesting in the future, although I suspect Ray and Cisco could likely cobble something together with Jax to give say a Quantum Omniversal Drive or some such.
SV did a lot more with Clark Luthor than Flash S2 did with Zoom, IMHO, Smallville just didn't go there enough.
Season 11 does, towards the end.
>>88385420
>Kurt Busiek Superman? (I'd appreciate issue numbers).
Do the issues that comprise Up Up and Away. I'll try to look them up for you tomorrow, I have to crash very soon.
>SUPERBRO SAGE
Yes, that is pretty accurate but it's missing stuff from Batman/Superman's first two trades, for examples, one of which is an excellent story (Crossed Worlds). And personally, some of those arcs (H'EL, all of DOOMED, KRYTPON RETURNS) are Storytime of Pain candidates.
I wouldn't try to do the whole thing.
As as uploading it, the trades would be complete, some of them are not ripped yet or scanned.
>>88388101
>>88388209
They had Hunter pegged for Zoom since the start. They realized they were making a mistake in having Hunter play at being Jay (that was their big twist, ala Wellsobard) and using the actor from the 90s Flash for an actually older Jay from still another Earth is really more CYA and response to the meltdown people had -- especially with that episode where literally it looked like Teddy was snorting cocaine when he did Barry's speed.
People were also really pissed that after the episode in the Speed Force, the very next episode turned out to be Let's Kill Barry's Remaining Parent and Fuck His Shit Up Because That's How We Create Superheros NOW. They don't just do it out of morals or conscious, they have something missing in their lives that can only be filled by I Am Barry, I Am The Speedforce, Vengeance Is Mine.
Plus Flashpoint is a stupid name, was a crappy arc, and is a really brain-dead idea.
>>88387353
>Superman's portrayal in Young Justice
There's no reality in the DC multiverse where Bruce Wayne get's to call Clark out for being a "Bad Father" to a clone of Superman created without his consent and by nefarious forces.
It reminds me of the issue where the JLA comes to talk to Wally and Linda about their kids having Speedforce fathers and Wally ends up lashing out at Bruce saying, you have no business lecturing me about bringing minors to an active Flash situation.
>Grounded
I've never heard anyone even say neutral things about it.
>American Alien - I just re-read parts of the HC. Personally, I understand why some people like it and there's a lot of art that I thought was really beautiful, which is at least half if not more of the reason, some of us like the Graphic Sequential Art form of story-telling. Plus, even with CGI and even if you threw $500 million into one movie, there's never going to be something on a live action screen that could do, for example, what DC and Snyder/Lee did in Superman Unchained, or even just spend $300 M and do one movie that tried to do something similar to Thunderworld Adventures/Multiversity; the ideas just would take too much James Cameron level of work to do what probably took Grant a few months and Parker say six weeks to design/play out and finish/draw.
>I saw Superman Returns as a midnight screening in a true Imax theater, one of the genuinely huge top to bottom screens, not the Imax adaptations that are often sold to patrons as Imax, in 3D, even though only 2 or 3 parts are 3D. My theater only sat about 400 people but it was packed and we stood up for the airplane/baseball scene and there's a lot of stuff I liked about it that evening but I'll admit that rewatching it today, it holds up less and less as a story. I have no problems with the lack of punching, but I also realize I'm not the target audience for a billion dollar box office draw.

>>88389976
You're right you're right. It's just alarming what the show decided to spend their budget on compared to what they COULD have spent it on.
>Clark should have lept tall buildings.
>They really didn't need all the money they spent on slomo. They seemed pretty content with Clark popping in at random times.
>I want my Corporeal Darkseid and I never got it. Watching the Superman Darkseid fight in Apocalypse and I feel fucking robbed.
>>88390117
That's guaranteed going to be in the storytime. I think I'll post that one after Secret Origins.
>>88390228
I like your thoughts on these topics. Right now I'm debating if I should include grounded in the storytime or not. Also I think I want to incorporate some JLA issues into his post crisis chronology but I'm not as familiar with JLA beyond Morrison. I have all the issues, just haven't read them all.
