No! It's not true. That's impossible! Why does Darth Vader turn into a fucking scorpion? That doesn't even happen in the Special Editions. There is no version of Star Wars in this universe or timeline or any other... I'm sure of it... where Darth Vader turns into... a fucking scorpion. I need a beer.

That's no problem just it's a pain to edit articles when they constantly get reverted. For example, the Rebels use the AAT in the Star Wars main comic but adding images of it are forbidden to new guys and they dont trust new dudes

Let's make this horribly ironic. What if her dad somehow found a way to sabotage the Death Star. They KNOW it has immense power and should blow up a world but it turns out that the damn thing isn't quite up to snuffing an entire planet. That's why we see the limited destruction in the trailers and some people speculate those rings in orbit are power amplifiers or even stabilizers. They're being used as a crutch to try and get the damn thing working like all their technical readouts swear it should be. Turns out Daddy Erso fucked up one of the tuning of one of the crystals. Vader senses this and also senses Jyn has one, he takes it and now the Death Star is operational in time to destroy Alderaan.

So basically Jyn accidentally fucks everything up and Alderaan perishes because of it, BUT at least Rogue One obtains the technical readouts in time to help save the larger galaxy at Yavin.

It's supposed to use an array of smaller crystals now. Those are the individual beams you see all along the dish that collect to form one massive blast.

Why would them still being big necessitate that each one has a massive kyber? Do you have any idea how rare those things are? What are the odds that the Empire finds that many and then does it again so they can build a new Death Star a few years later?

Huh. So that's where Sheev got all his Inquisitors from. Explains why they job so hard, they were jobbers to begin with.

The Empire must seem like an improvement after they get their first taste of that Dark Side high.
>>
>>87944825
They only need 10 or so, anon. The Jedi already found most of them for their Temples' designs, or they were found by the Empire. Considering they already know how to locate kybers, finding larger ones isn't impossible for them again. Plus they have unlimited access to almost any planet in the galaxy, so they can scour each one finding kybers.

The FO fucking uses kybers in all of their turbolaser weapons now, too. Not giant ones, but they use them.
>>
>>87944825
>Why would them still being big necessitate that each one has a massive kyber?
Because they need to be able to generate massive amounts of power. That's why in TCW and Rebels, giant kybers are the big prizes needed. In Catalyst, they're testing the concept of harnessing and focusing that power with smaller ones before moving on to making it viable on larger ones.
>>
>>87944620
>They're keeping Stormtroopers as a complete joke
>>
>>87944974
M8, nothing has changed since the OT.

Even if you use the excuse for the Death Star, they could only hit walls on Bespin and they lost the upper hand on Endor as soon as they gained it.
>>
>>87944974
They get blown up by a bomb, anon. How do you expect anyone to survive that?
>>
>>87944895
Finding large ones is clearly possible, and Yoda said he would do so again, but to manage to find that many given the rarity is incredibly unlikely in the extreme. It makes far more sense that they found a way to generate a similar effect by harnessing the power of far smaller kyber crystals via a focusing array.

Starkiller Base is an entirely different bag altogether given it is possible because the FO discovered Dark Energyâ„¢ and even then it has to devour an entire sun. It doesn't appear to work anything like the usual power increase we've seen with giant kyber crystals. Sure Starkiller Base planet has kybers in the soil and some were harvested for the Death Star, though we no nothing of the size.

Kyber Crystals, especially the large ones, provide their own power amplification apparently via the Force. And we've seen a Sith weapon can destroy a world, rendering it lifeless without having to destroy it. Which raises the question of why they'd want to struggle even harder to find a way to create a big enough kaboom to destroy a planet because it STILL kills all the life but otherwise leaves nothing left. You could destroy a world and then still mine it for resources. Why would it be extra terrifying that you destroy a planet along with the people unless the point is to prove you're also an insanely wasteful asshole to boot?

Starkiller takes this up to 11 and rips the knob off.

Speaking of Thrawn, when the hell is he actually going to do something? Every time we've seen him, he just let the rebels get away.
>>
>>87945155
You could mine them, or at least whatever is left. I imagine some of it would be atomized. Still whatever chunks are left would now be traveling insanely fast in every direction from where Alderaan used to be.

More hilarious, I think, is Starkiller base. Once it devours a sun you no longer have the gravity to hold the solar system together so all the planets presumably just go flying off into the galaxy. At least, and this is assuming this bit of physics is still the same in reality and Star Wars, those planets will take a very long time before they become a threat to any star systems, though I suppose their own gravity shadows (thanks ATOCs) could destabilize hyperspace lanes. I'm not quite sure how that works. I am fairly certain though that JJ never thought of this possibility and wouldn't care even if he had. He seems to operate on a system of ignoring potential issues therefore they aren't a problem as far as he is concerned. Pablo could no doubt clear it up by saying the FO very carefully chooses those rare stars that lack any planetary bodies.

He's also not just after Ghost Crew, which is why he lets them go. They're not his main target.
>>
any good summaries of Catalyst? Aint got time to read that
>>
>>87945350
A fair number of people don't, or that's been my impression from fan reactions. I haven't felt like his overall plan is that complicated. He's biding his time and trying to make the rebels bold enough to perform an all-in attack, then he can destroy them all.

What I'm waiting to see is HOW he plans to destroy them. Will he bait them with a juicy enough target? Will we see the Rebels winning only for him to make a stunning turn around? And how successful will he be? He clearly won't destroy them all, but I expect it'll be a massive mid-season (or later) event that will leave the survivors broken and demoralized and push Ezra to the brink. Then the rest of the season will be finding a way to rise from their own ashes again.

Deoxygenated blood is a darker shade of red; this is present in veins, and can be seen during blood donation and when venous blood samples are taken. This is because the spectrum of light absorbed by haemoglobin differs between the oxygenated and deoxygenated states.

You now realize your blood constantly shifts color.

In anon's defense scarlet is a common enough reference to blood, though of course not very accurate. In particular scarlet robes are used for Cardinals in the Catholic faith. Scarlet is associated with the blood of Christ. Scarlett ribbons are also common on bibles as bookmarks for the same reason. Heck, you even have titles like A Study in Scarlet, which does sound better than A Study in Crimson.

>If it wasnt for Sheev, Maul would have been fine
But that was part of his failure. Sheev coming to push his shit in wasn't some huge coincidence, it was something he should've expected to happen sooner or later.

On top of that, the knowledge that Maul was the direct cause of the civil war on Mandalore was enough to get the Jedi involved, and eventually the Republic sent forces to bring Mandalore under order. Even if Maul's Shadow Collective had been at full force it would've been a hard fight- as it was he ended up pissing off his own allies in his attempt at revenge against Sheev and that just weakened his army.

Dooku called it pretty accurately, Maul is really good at seizing control, but maintaining it is another thing entirely.

Jyn and Cassian really seem like they would end up being an item. Seems more likely when you know Jyn's actress has been in quite a few romantic films right before Rogue One. >>
I wonder why Star Wars Rule 34 is so rare and so shit?

I mean, I'm using hyperbole, as there is a vast amount of it and some amazing pieces. It's just that this franchise has been around since before I was born, and relatively new franchises and stand alone films has as much or more porn drawn and written to as good or better standards than SW has. I think Miravi was the pinnacle. Shabby is pretty decent these days, but his specialty was the series' and community surrounding his work, rather than a supreme skill level.

It just seems really fucking odd, and annoying too.
>>
>>87955392
Because we had enough of that in TCW, Rebels, and TFA. Plus, I in particular, am a romance fag. The movies could use a second good couple, even if it isn't in the main saga.
>>
>>87955395
I find that live-action material is less likely to generate porn than drawn/animated material.
>>
>>87955421

Sure, and the fact that Ahsoka has more pictures combined than all other females in the setting proves it, but by that same token we've had an animated move, ten seasons of animated material, and various vidya.

Tangled still gets more images per week than Star Wars. Fucking Ben 10 does.

I've actually made a side hobby of collecting this stuff, and it's just pissing me off I haven't had anything decent to add to my folders for a while. With Rebels being drip fed to us the last few weeks, the end of Freemaker adventures, Ep8 still being a year off, ect, I feel like I'm in a SW drought.

>I mean, that's sort of how encyclopedias work.

True, but they don't have to do an encyclopedia for everything. They could totally do shit separated by specific topic or time period or something else. That way they can still release new shit and not have to make previous books pointless.
>>
>>87956537

>>
>>87956690
How is the previous book pointless? It still covers the vast majority of things, it's just not fully up to date, because the only way for that to be possible is to wait until the very end of all SW material to be published.

> They could totally do shit separated by specific topic or time period or something else.

That would have the exact same problem. If you separated it by topic, what topics would you have? Let's say, as example:

-Ships
-Planets
-Aliens
-Weapons

Well if one movie or book or TV episode adds a new planet with a new alien race that drives a new ship and carries a new weapon ... all four books are fucked.

So time period, then...

-PT
-OT
-ST

Well just in the past year or so, we've seen the release of a bunch of comics set in the OT, the Ahsoka book during the PT, Rebels which is in between the two, Aftermath for the ST, Catalyst for both PT and in-between, etc.

So you've got the same problem. Star wars builds shit like crazy -- it's inevitable.

I'm sorry, anon. But Jango was, canonically, one of the best. Filoni's more or less implied that there's an in-universe argument in the bounty hunting community on whether Cad Bane or Jango was the best. A hyped showdown that can never happen.

>>
>>87960201
The Thrawn Trilogy describes the Clone Wars as a war between the "Clone Masters" and the Galactic Republic. It made the clones and their cloners into the villains of the Clone War. The Clone Masters created armies of insane clones and attempted to take over the galaxy about 35 years before the events of the first movie. Palpatine was also involved to some extent, using it to his advantage to consolidate his political power.

However, the Clone Wars ended 15 years before he declared himself Emperor, so they were not directly tied to the fall of the Old Republic: the chaos they left in their wake set the stage for him to take over in the following years.

Interesting story behind this one: this was the first time Palpatine was officially referred to as Darth Sidious anywhere. At the time, even movie guidebooks were evasive about it and never outright stated that Palpatine was Sidious- sure, it was obvious, but they never came out and said it.

So this figure clearly based on the Emperor as of ROTJ being labeled as Darth Sidious caused controversy among places like TheForce.net. Some people held that it was a red herring meant to keep us from learning the truth about Sidious (since at the time, one of the popular ideas was that because the connection was so obvious, it HAD to be a misdirection, and there'd be some twist to reveal that Sidious and Palpatine actually were different people).

>since at the time, one of the popular ideas was that because the connection was so obvious, it HAD to be a misdirection, and there'd be some twist to reveal that Sidious and Palpatine actually were different people
Oh wow, I remember that shit. People would get legit mad if you tried to tell them "no, it's clearly the same person, not everything has to be some twist." The reasoning that I remember seeing was that since the OT had the huge "I am your father" twist then the PT would also have some massive bombshell twist.

You'd literally have allcaps posts screaming YOU CAN LAUGH ALL YOU WANT BUT COME MAY 19 (or whatever the exact release date for ROTS was) YOU WILL ALL BE SORRY AND WE WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU FOR DOUBTING US WE WILL BE THE ONES LAUGHING AT YOU AND YOUR PATHETIC SIMPLE MINDS

>>
>>87962735
There were a few different theory as far as Palpatine and Sidious being different people, but the most common one was that Sidious was an evil clone, so Palpatine was actually a legit good guy and Sidious would kill him and take his identity.
>>
>>87962823

There'll little room for that there with Sheev "dewit" Palpatine
>>
>>87962108

>>
>>87962735
One of my favorites was that Obi-Wan would turn out to be the father of the twins, on the basis of Obi-Wan having already lied about Anakin/Vader, therefore he could also be lying about who Luke's father is.

Nevermind that this completely messes with the story and there's absolutely no reason for Obi-Wan to continue pretending he isn't the father, especially when Luke's biggest hangup about fighting Vader is that he can't bring himself to kill his own father. Or that Vader would then be sacrificing himself for the love of someone who's actually not even related to him in any way.
>>
>>87962857
Yeah, this was in the leadup to Episode 3. When ROTS finally came out it destroyed all of the "Palpatine isn't Sidious" theories. People who had been fierce champions for those theories suddenly got very quiet.

The idea of a love triangle between them had been floating around since Episode 1, but I think it mostly died around Episode 2, with Anakin and Padme marrying and Obi-Wan having shown zero interest in Padme.

It's kind of funny that Sheev trying to fool Anakin into thinking Obi-Wan and Padme were having an affair was an actual discarded plot point for ROTS.

>>
>>87962735
There's one I kind of liked which wasn't so much a bad idea as it was something that a movie already full of stuff it needed to do in two hours wouldn't have had time for.

The idea was that Yoda and Dooku would have a final showdown on Dagobah, and Yoda would kill him inside the cave, which was why it was so strong with the dark side.
>>
>>87963047
Yeah, I thought they did pretty well with it all things considered.

Anyone who knew the lore obviously knew, and people who had seen the OT could put it together. My wife looked at me halfway through Ep II when she finally watched the whole saga last year and goes "ohhhhhhhh!"

But if you didn't know, it's really not insanely obvious. Even in TCW they hid the Sidious/Sheev connection until that Maul/Oppress arc.

Yeah, you had to go to the deeper Star Wars places to hear most of this stuff. I think if 4chan had been as big at the time and social media wasn't in its infancy, stuff like this probably would've gained as much ground as the "Plagueis is Snoke/Rey's staff is Plagueis's staff" shit we had last year.

On a related note, I remember before AOTC premiered TheForce.net would report news and rumors (as well as official images Lucasfilm would release as teases) and almost always try to tie it into Boba Fett, no matter how ridiculous.
>Here's a set pic from Episode 2! Could this be where Boba Fett has a big fight?
>Here's a vehicle design! We're not sure what it is, but perhaps it's something Boba Fett rides?
>Here's a new alien! Just an extra, or a character partnered with Boba Fett?
Even when we finally learned that Boba would be just a kid and the new character of Jango would be the one in the armor, they'd still pull this shit.

>Here's an actress with some interesting makeup. A possible mother for Boba Fett?

What I like about the Sidious reveal is that even if you go into it not realizing he and Palpatine are the same, or have no knowledge that Palpatine eventually becomes an Emperor, it's not a big sudden reveal as it is a slow reveal.

By the time Anakin puts two and two together and spells it out, we've already seen Palpatine do and say a lot of shady shit, so the reveal isn't so much "oh shit he's the Sith Lord?!" as "aaaahhh, so that explains why he's been acting that way."
>>
>>87963326
We have NEVER seen AP-5 and Tarkin in the same room and until we do I will never be convinced that AP-5 isn't just Tarkin in droid cosplay. He's just too prime and British and stiff, so I figure he has to unwind by being an equally prime and stiff droid.

It's really the only thing that makes sense.
>>
>>87963327
Yeah, it builds up through suspicion. It isn't a huge "I am your father" type surprise as it is a confirmation of something the audience has probably already started to suspect.

>It's kind of funny that Sheev trying to fool Anakin into thinking Obi-Wan and Padme were having an affair was an actual discarded plot point for ROTS.

I remember owning an old sci-fi magazine special annual which went into speculation about the prequels. I'd need to get the magazine to be sure, but there were a few things they got sort-of right and dead wrong.

IIRC
>Emperor Palpatine would rise to power under one of his concept-art names (i.e. Cos Dashit)
>The prequels would take place on "Aquilla" instead of "Naboo".
>Obi-Wan and Anakin would have a duel on a volcano, ending when Anakin falls into the lava
>Something about either Luke and Leia's mother having psychic powers or another princess with psychic powers (might have been talking about concept material)

Some of it was right in a general sense, but a lot of the specifics were pretty off.

That's sort of how I see it, but the scene could be read both ways. Like "YOU WILL NOT TAKE HER FROM ME!" can easily be construed as thinking Obi-Wan wants her for himself, though I think the intention is that Anakin thinks Obi-Wan has tricked her into siding against him.
>>
>>87963455
Being right about a prequel isn't particularly impressive, really. You know how things have to end, so it's pretty easy to work backwards into that and get some things right.
>>
>>87963455
To be fair, the part about them fighting near a volcano and Anakin falling into lava had been around for a while. I think the ROTJ novelization has it in there.
>>
>>87963563
Plus as >>87963592 pointed out, there was a lot of stuff that came from novelizations. Palpatine having risen to power through the senate before declaring martial law and becoming a dictator was one of those ideas, too (though from what I remember, it wasn't until AOTC that the Clone Wars and Palpatine's martial law declaration were directly linked).
>>
>>87963592
That's been around for a while.

http://www.theforce.net/swtc/injuries.html#origin

>In an interview in Starlog in 1980, Mark Hamill recounts a background story which he had been told:
>"I remember very early on asking who my parents were and being told that my father and Obi Wan met Vader on the edge of a volcano and they had a duel. My father and Darth Vader fell into the crater and my father was instantly killed. Vader crawled out horribly scarred, and at that point the Emperor landed and Obi Wan ran into the forest, never to be seen again."

>Aspects of the tale of the molten pit resurfaced more officially in 1983, in the novelization of Return of the Jedi. The ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi told Luke Skywalker:
>" We fought ... your father fell into a molten pit. When your father clawed his way out of that fiery pool, the change had been burned into him forever — he was Darth Vader, without a trace of Anakin Skywalker. Irredeemably dark. Scarred. Kept alive only by machinery and his own black will ... "

>Later, when Vader lay dying he recalled those painful events:
>These were memories he wanted none of, not now. Memories of molten lava, crawling up his back ... no.
This boy had pulled him from that pit — here, now, with this act. This boy was good.
>>
>>87963455
>>87963592
On a partial side note, I wish that Anakin didn't become Vaderized by volcano

I think it would have been much better if it was a gradual thing
A blunt metaphor for his seduction to the dark side.
Like, he loses his hand.
Then a leg.
Then an arm.
Then he's impaled
And he's put back together piece by piece over the number of years that Obi Wan knew him
>>

>>87963592
>>87963637
I think the magazine I was reading even referenced the interview in >>87963638 (although I can't remember if said magazine wasn't just the Starlog issue itself).

>>87963647
The volcano duel would have made sense as the climax or point at which their friendship ended violently, but I kind of agree that due to their nature as blockbusters, the films couldn't really devote enough time to Anakin slowly getting seduced. Part of it was because the prequels were coming out around the same time as the LOTR movies, which showed Frodo's battle with the ring's corruption in a manner that I wanted for Anakin and the Dark Side.

That's why the "body parts for morality" metaphor works so well.
It's so blunt and easy that it can be used in a blockbuster.
The metaphor is even pottery with the OT (e.g. "He's more machine than man now")

Granted, it'd be a hell of a lot easier if Episode 1 didn't focus on fucking 8 year old Anakin.
Three movies with an adult or at least a late teen would have been great

>>87963844
I'll pretty much always agree that showing Anakin as a kid was kind of unnecessary, but there's so many ways to debate improvements on the prequels that most of the conversation just becomes moot. That's why I don't really devote a lot of time to Prequel hate anymore, it's just not worth it and you can't change the past.

Still though, should have focused on Obi-Wan.

>>
>>87964020
>So what? Still happened.
It's exposition, which explains Greivous' backstory but doesn't really affect his current character or dictate his arc. In terms of drama, Greivous' character was more focused around being an antagonist rather than any fall from grace. It wasn't the wort of slow seduction that the other anon was talking about.

I'm not saying that's necessarily good or bad, but it certainly wasn't fulfillment of that arc as described above. It more or less points out that the story team was't really interested in that angle.

the clone wars have been canon since the very beginning haven't they?
>>
wait wait wait
People really didn't know if Palpatine was Sidious before Ep III ?

I wasn't that much into Star Wars before Episode III (and way too young to care about this) but it always seemed kinda... obvious ?
Like i don't feel like the prequels are trying to hide it, even though they're unclear

But didn't people know it was the same actor playing Palpatine and Sidious ?
And, you can clearly see it's Ian McDiarmid in the Sidious scenes during Ep I and II

Not judging the fans at all i just wasn't around at that time and i'm legit curious if everyone was surprised that they were the same person, unless it was because people were expecting a plot twist like some anon said, with a clone and all

I mean, anyway, crazy theories are always kinda dumb anyway. I don't know why people ALWAYS expect a crazy plot twist, because plot twists are not that common in movies, and never as crazy as fan theories.
Obviously "no, i am your father" is a huge plot twist but it's not as insane as some stuff you can read, like "SNOKE IS JAR JAR"
>>
>>87964265
They have, but details about them were very vague. My point is that we knew Palpatine had gained emergency powers in the senate before declaring himself Emperor, but from what I remember we didn't know that it was the Clone Wars that allowed him to do that.
>>
>>87964308
>People really didn't know if Palpatine was Sidious before Ep III ?
People knew, it was obvious. That's why the theories of a big twist became popular, because people felt it was TOO obvious and thus there was some big surprise in store.

Who is in charge of the Inquisitors? Do they report directly to Vader, the Emperor? Where do they fit in the regular imperial command structure?
>>
>>87964575
IIRC Vader? They might effectively just be another order, independent of military command, but they seem to overlap heavily with intelligence (judging by how the Inquisitor's position superceded Kallus').

Pretty sure they answer directly to Vader. I don't think they fit into the military command structure, just like Vader doesn't have an established military rank. If the Emperor says you answer to Vader, you answer to Vader, and if the Emperor says Vader answers to you, he answers to you.

Probably the same for Inquisitors, so who can boss them around probably changes depending on the mission. Grinky was probably told he had command over anything on Lothal but still had to answer to Tarkin.

Terribly hot terrible things.

Supposedly rogue one spoilers

Yes yes, she commissioned Sabine to draw her very many lewd things. Doesn't make them canon. She's an INQUISITOR. They couldn't manage to catch a cold.

>Fenn Rau is getting an action figure
>still none for Rebels Hondo
This is not very profitable at all!
>>
>>87965049
Rebels has the unfortunate problem of coming out at a time where we're getting a new movie each year, so that's where the bulk of the action figure choices are going to go.

At least that's what Hasbro is doing. Lego still has their shit together and know how to make sets based on different parts of the franchise.

>Sounds solid enough if true. Rogue One will probably be better than TFA.

- Darth Vader has a total of 6 minutes of screen time.
- Darth Vader has two scenes, which is talking with Krennic about Jedha, and the very last scene of the film.
i don't know how to feel about this

That was a vision so it was actually Yoda in control. Why are you even surprised about Bad Touch Jedi?
>>
>>87965233
We've known for ages that Vader wasn't going to have a lot of screentime. Anyone expecting him to have some big fight scene was deluding themselves.

>>87965233
That's honestly more than I was expecting.

Vision or not. I'm convinced this happened. Ezra probably liked it aswell. Not that it would've mattered to her if he enjoyed himself or not.

Chancellor Palpatine told Fives the truth in his office: "Seventh Sister shall die a virgin. I have foreseen it."

Sadly he wasn't able to warn either Anakin or Rex before the end.
