Thanks for the bump man. Greatly appreciated. Also I have no idea what to think of this Joker but I can strangely see how he eventually morphed into Miller's interpretation.

Why is Dick Grayson Age 12 so cute?
He's cuter than normal Dick, psychopathy and all.
>>87402768
>I can strangely see how he eventually morphed into Miller's interpretation
i can't
>>87402821
I always liked her design. Wish she showed up more often in more mature books
This book is the perfect example of something that looks great but reads like a pile of dogshit... how the hell did Miller go from Year One narration which was great to this.. it reads like some asshole commenting on youtube
>>87402990
Because he hasn't been broken yet by Batman. He's still relatively innocent and it shows.
>>87403041
I think it mostly had to do with the sexual nature of his character, either with women or Batman. I can definitely see your point though. How did you feel about Last Crusade's version of Joker?
>>87403083
I love Bruno. She needs to be in more stuff.
>>87403120
he was a bore, but i wish we'd gotten to see more of him considered the book was advertised as a "joker story"
For some odd reason, I found the idea of DIck wanting to call himself Hood embarrassing. Glad Bats was there to set his ass straight.
>>87403435
Did you at least enjoy TDKR Joker? I'd say Last Crusade was my favorite from Miller because his Joker feels like he definitely has an edge to him beyond just being "crazy and unpredictable". Also I don't know whether Miller or Azzarello wrote the majority of his dialog but I found it refreshing.
While I found All Star Batman and Robin a definite disappointment in the category of strong writing, the entire exchange between Batman and Robin and Green Lantern was a treat in every sense of the word.
>>87402623
Frank, how does a dragon tattoo go with the Joker's clown motif?
Frank, is the Joker doing a poetry slam with some of the material he stole from a highschool emo girl?
Frank, why are you doing Twilight with the Joker and an attorney?
Stop it, Frank. This isn't good.
I'm 3 pages in and I already hate this. I need to keep reading.

Glad to have ya on board. Only a couple issues to go before we can switch things up.
Bump for you OP. Thanks for continuing.

Miller's Joker is the GOAT Joker and it would take a hell of a writer to write a better Joker.
>>87403521
dkr joker is my fave
Alright guys, next up is Batman-Spawn: War Devil
First time reading this story so I'm pretty stoked. Just grabbed it for those who wanted it to be included in the storytime.
>>87404671
wut
but Miller didn't write this

Wrong Spawn crossover, dumbass.

You wanna find the correct issue or post it yourself or you gonna sit here and bitch?
>>87404961
>plz spoonfeed me im too lazy to do my research
It was weird how All Star Batman & Robin introduces the Joker then does nothing with him. In fact the whole thing just kind of ends abruptly. Also the Joker banged that woman and she didn't realise he was the Joker? Are Gotham bars really badly lit?

Greatly appreciated. Unfortunately with my connection speed this issue is gonna take at least twenty minutes. So in the meantime I'm just going to post Dark Knight: Last Crusade
>>87405003
>I'm too large of a cunt to even consider helping someone track down an issue and would rather keep bitching.
Stay classy.
I know a lot of people hate Romita Jr. but here is some of his better work in years.
I really like that this version of Killer Croc looks visually similar to Killer Crock in the Azzarello Joker GN.
>>87405670
I like lucid Mr. Malice Joker
For some reason, the idea of Batman ending his crusade after going up against a "B Villain" or standard henchmen and getting his ass whupped really fascinating.
Most individuals that sledom read comics would expect them to fall at the hands of a big namer (Joker, Ra's). Being nearly beaten to death by Croc illustrates that this Bat, while still effective, has obviously lost a step or two due to age. An adequate comparison would be comparing Batman in this to Daniel Craig in Skyfall. Still competent, but nowhere near as lethal as previously.
>>87405720
Damn skippy
>>87405855
that's why Batman Beyond had such a fascinating way to start off. Those weren't even B villains it was just a bunch of punks.
>>87405547
hot
>>87405924
Holy shit, it never clicked with that Batman Beyond totally did that with their series. Aside from Bruce retiring due to getting the muther of all shit kickings, having him retire after he compromises the "values of Batman" is a powerful movement for the character. I literally can't think of a better reason for Bruce to stop being Batman.
>>87404014
>>87403976
>>87403935
Hal a bitch ass nigga
>>87406026
Beyond was very well written because it not only gave a great reason for Bruce to give up Batman it gave him a great (terrible for him) reason to let Terry be a new batman.
Batman bringing the pain right meow. It aint fancy, but it gets the job done. Also, is Bruce in better physical shape here or during TDKR. I feel like Bruce consistently did more harrowing feats in TDKR and doesn't express the amount of fatigue this Bruce does. Then again, this Bruce could be hypercritical of himself in this state because even he can't deny he's slowing down.
>>87406301
Bruce is in worse shape here, it bothered me when I originally read this
>>87406339
Maybe it's the fact that Bruce literally went multiple nights back to back where he got his ass absolutely handed to him that makes it seem like he's more run down. Batman only really got trounced once in TDKR and he spent of good amount of time recovering soon after so I'm still on the fence about which is the superior Batman.
For now, I consider them both in the same weightclass however TDKR Bruce seems a good bit larger than here at the age of 40-45. I partially attribute it to old man strength.
Coughing up blood aint good for ya Bruce
>>87406416
It's probably because this is Batman being batman rather than Bruce coming out of retirement. There's less fatigue because he had some time to recover
>>87406459
Very true. You could say he was resting up for a good 10 years.
I know I gush over this one shot a lot, but this is quite frankly my favorite Jason death out of all Bat media. The fact that he didn't even make it through the front door was all the more horrifying. Currently, my ranking of Jason's death are.
1. Being beaten by henchmen on his way to the Joker. Doesn't make it through front door (Last Crusade).
2. Having Jason "die" by being shot by the Joker right before revealing Batman's identity. Being tortured for months on end and eventually seeking revenge on Bruce.
3. Having Jason beaten to near death with a crowbar before having a building explode all around him and then collapse on him.
Alright, I apologize for posting the wrong comic earlier but in my defense I posted the sequel issue to the original one shot.
>>87404714
this was in 100 bullets too, I think. Neat.
Not that we've officially finished Batman's earlier set of adventures, we're going to transition to the first issue of The Dark Knight returns with a take on the character that is going to be adapted in some way shape or form for the forseeable future.
Although I don't think we're ever going to get a better adaption of TDKR than with the two part movies, the concept of an older more experienced Batman no longer is his prime is probably my go to version/take on the character. I think stories in either the beginning or ending of the hero's career tend to be more interesting than the ones' during the golden years. I guess the tradeoff of having stories set during the hero's prime is that it allows the writer to tell a story where the hero is pushed to their absolute limits and audenices for the most part wouldn't roll their eyes. Also I really enjoy having heroes with an established set of adventures, which partially explains my love for Greg Weisman because that is a man with a box full of index cards with every major date and adventure associated with the material he's working on.
>>87407610
Bump
>>87406669
>but in my defense I posted the sequel issue to the original one shot.
?
Batman/Spawn: War Devil's basically DCU Batman meeting Spawn; as opposed to Spawn/Batman which is Millerverse Batman meeting Spawn. They both came out the same day. I wished they could've give a longer title to Spawn/Batman so it wouldn't be confused with the Batman/Spawn one.
Unless you mean Last Crusade as a sequel to Spawn/Batman?
>>87405715
It's intentional; Miller and Romita Jr said as much that Azzarello pushed to put in the Joker GN version of Croc. Ivy's inclusion was Miller's idea, though.
>>87405013
Yeah it ended abruptly because they planned on continuing but obviously didn't get around to.
>Also the Joker banged that woman and she didn't realise he was the Joker? Are Gotham bars really badly lit?
She said "I was just joking that maybe you slipped something into my drink" and that she usually doesn't suddenly have sex with someone she just barely met. That implied Joker put something in that made her mind more susceptible to Joker's influence.
>>87403111
There was a real shift during his 90's work.
>>87403521
I'd say that most anything that sounded like some kind of wordplay was mainly Azzarello's.
>>87406416
>Maybe it's the fact that Bruce literally went multiple nights back to back where he got his ass absolutely handed to him that makes it seem like he's more run down.
I think it's basically that. He got so obsessed with his career he didn't give himself a full break, and he kept expecting better performance from himself. And probably whatever happened between him and Dick affected him.
He probably would've eventually retired once he got Jason ready, but he gave up once Jason died, so he added more time to recover.
Cheers

kek
You know, I never truly liked spawn comics, too 90s too childish and at the same time takes itself too seriously.
But still, its stuff like this that makes it ok sometimes.
>>87413229
Yes, that's the joke.
>>87402821
Hey! I remember her from Ronin!
I really hate how no Superhero can just stop. It' always a huge spectacle about how they always go out in a blaze of fury that is so amazing that nobody can ever match what was once there. It's never because they're just getting older or can't keep up with what's going on anymore
Batman Beyond is the obvious exception as it actually deals with the fact that Bruce is ancient and kind of fucked up. Dark Knight Returns also does it pretty well, except that ending always felt a little bit too forced to me. But still, it's a nice way to end the story with Bruceleading the next generation of vigilantes in the batcave. But even then, all that shit becomes redundant once you realize that he goes back to being batman in DK3
>>87405766
>>87405855
I understand the point of this, but he has a utility belt fool of goodies for a reason.
