Not that I'm not sick anymore, I feel like posting all of Frank Miller's Batman series in chronological order. The upcoming events will be posted as follows.
>Batman: Year One
>All Star Batman & Robin
>The Dark Knight: The Last Crusade
>The Dark Knight Returns
>The Dark Knight Strikes Again
>Dark Knight: The Master Race
Starting Year One Meow. And always, bumps are super appreciated because they ensure this thread won't die before I hit the image limit.
The fact that this is more of a Jim Gordon story than a Batman story is a welcome surprise.

This
>>87382189
No spawn batman?
>>87382189
Coming in to say Year One Batman is my favorite costume, and the art is some of the best batman's ever had. Feels like the right amount of pulp.
OP, you should do Holy terror.
>>87382332
Sorry man. I don't happen to have those issues, but if you're willing to post them at the appropriate point I wouldn't stop ya.
>>87382189
Will Spawn/Batman be included? Takes place after All Star but before Last Crusade.
>>87382402
I'm apparently going to track down Spawn/Batman.
Bump for you OP. Thanks for the storytime.
AND ON TO ISSUE 2
Fantastic page.
Anyone know offhand how many images are allowed in each thread? I want to say 250.
The first introduction to Batman in Year One definitely subverted a lot of my expectations. Having him stumble into his victory through shear luck was a step in the right direction towards humanizing bruce. His hyper self critical nature is an underpinning throughout most of Miller's work (save All Star Batman wherein Bruce's ego is fucking gigantic).
God damn goosebumps.
Nice, it's been a while since ASBAR was storytimed I think.
>>87383083
Surprised it isn't storytimed more often. That series is literally the definition of a wild ride.
I never thought having an entire issue with Batman facing off against the GCPD would be more thrilling than the recent Cross title series Monster Men.

bump
Just outta curiosity, for those reading what was your favorite part of the Dark Knight saga? Personally, I think I loved Dark Knight The Last Crusade for a variety of reasons. The others a great, but the Last Crusade really struck a chord and served as a unique potential endpoint for the Batman's career. That and the art was baller.
>>87383629
All Star because it's crazy as fuck and it is my preferred Miller.
>>87382189
>>Dark Knight: The Master Race
How the fuck you gonna do this? It ain't done yet. And as far as I can tell, DC just extended it to 9 issues.
>>87382373
SPAWN/BATMAN HERE: >>87294533
Alright boys and girls, time for the goddamn Batman.
>>87384028
That outfit is so colorful compared to the new 52 Robin outfit
>>87383246
Night of the Monster Men was just a huge waste of potential.
>>87383629
The Dark Knight Returns is my favourite chapter, I just love the whole grizzled veteran coming out of retirement trope, but my favourite moment is the whole yellow room scene in All Star Batman and Robin.
>>87384061
Age 12
Jim, Frank and DC should get on with finishing All Star Batman and Robin after Dark Knight III.
>>87384007
Awesome
I have the trade paperback which doesn't include the fucking ending because he says something racist or some stupid bullshit
I didn't even know for years, I just thought it stopped abruptly because it got canceled but was so infamous it warranted a trade release anyways
>>87384294
Agreed
>>87384328
#10 isn't in the trade because you could see the swear words through the black bars.
>>87382716
Fucking chills everytime
>>87385041
Bump
>>87384294
I think the worst part of ASBAR is Lee's art.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there supposed to be a project where individuals came together and attempted to rewrite the dialog to create a more even tempered Bat or was it scrapped/considered more effort than it was worth?
I've synced up the remaining issues to post while I get some sleep. This thread should end with issue 7 and then I'll pick up tomorrow after 5 with issue 8 and then finish the series. Afterward Batman/Spawn and then Last Crusade. Hope yall have been enjoying.
Year One is such an amazing story.
Starting to wind down now. Hope this has been as fun for you as it has been for me. I completely forgot how Batshit this series was. Glad to see that Miller temporarily reins it in before going balls out again in The Dark Knight Strikes Back
The official downfall of Dick Grayson. I don't know many other characters that just get shit on like this character does in Miller's series. Makes me wonder why he was such a fan of Jason.
>>87386707
Dick is really cute tho
>>87382189
>No Holy Terror
I'm disappointed in you.
Thanks OP, I finally got to read Year One because of you. I ain't sticking it out for All-Star, though. I'd rather leave on a high note.
>>87388068
God, every time I read All Star it amazes me how bad it is.
Cheers OP, never read all-star so this should be a treat.
>>87383022
Always great
>>87384328
>>87384822
No, #10 isn't included because #9 doesn't end on a cliffhanger but #10 does. They intended to continue on with the book but still haven't.
>>87386707
I don't really think he's a fan of Jason so much as that he thinks logically, Bruce screwed up with Dick in this universe so he's tried to not make the same mistakes with Jason. He's stern with Jason in Last Crusade yet it's not traumatizing like he did with Dick in ASB.

Thanks, OP.
bumping for others.

I love how problematic Frank Miller's Wonder Woman is and just how toxic is the Superman/Wonder Woman pairing under his pen.
The dude is an absolute madman.
Bumperino
>>87382189
Why not Holy Terror?
>>87384317
I keep forgetting how terrible everyone else reads because everyone gets a pulp/noir narration in Miller's work during this. It doesn't really fit the characters at times.
>>87386524
Mmmmm...love on the burnt corpses of goons. Heartwarming.
>>87382680
>>87382702
>>87382716
Year One is one of the first actual superhero comics I ever read. And if I'm being honest, I think it's this moment that made me start to love comics.and it also sorta made me want to write comics so I could write amazing scenes like this
>>87382189
I wonder how many times I've already seen the death of Batmans parents in any form of media.
