Remember that the anti-bigotry moral was little more than a guiding principle to keep the x-men on the heroic path. It's not meant to be an an actual story goal it's just something to remind them what they fight for and why. It's their "With great power comes great responsibility"

You can and certainly should do the occasional story that directly deals with it but it's a super hero comic first and foremost so we really should be primarily focused on fighting bad guys in space or robots from the future instead of all this gloom and doom and constant students getting blown up for shock value.

And yes I get it that Cyclops is totally super careful to not fuck up but not every mutant is going to have Cyclop's training or be fortunate enough to know someone who can build crazy goggles or various other gadgets to help.

1) absolutely #1 the time displaced X-Men, this includes Phoenix II, Old Man Logan and Cable but especially the O5 need to go back, the one thing Secret Wars was supposed to fix was this.

2) reuniting the core X-Men and putting them under one roof and bring back Charles Xavier and The Dream to give the books a sense of direction, because X-Men is missing the most is direction.

2) next using the X-Men to get other books over isn't something that should go away but the X-Men should be the ones doing the guest appearances not the other way around.

3) make bad guys bad again, all the villains but sinister live/work with the X-Men, this has to stop, Magneto and Emma can stick around, Juggernaut is a fun character to have around and Mystique is brings some good story opportunities but everyone else has to start killing flatscans and robbing banks

5) Add more genre breaking books, another Doop comedy book, Dazzler musical drama or Bishop cop book if it makes sense do it.

6) But don't touch the core books X-Men should be a soap opera, X-Force should be balls to the wall action, X-Factor should be a little smarter the the other books.

Look, time travel bullshit is just what they do. Cable and Bishop come from different future timelines that both wish to prevent - but the fact is (and the one time Bishop was worth a damn was when he used this fact to go full villain) nothing they do can prevent their timelines, because that would be paradoxical. They'll happen; they just won't happen to this particular universe that they're currently in.

A lot of mutants you wouldn't even know they where until they started blasting shit or mind controlling people. That's kind of why they're scary to people. In any crowd any one of the people present is a ticking time bomb.

Even decent enough guys like Chamber can still hurt people unintentionally so mutants should really be finding ways to work WITH the government so they can find and predict dangerous mutations genetically and find ways to help them cope with their powers in a safe controlled environment and no a school where they go after the fact isn't the answer

There needs to be more middle ground between registration and mutant rights. I certainly don't think rounding them up in camps is the answer but just the same they should be more willing to take measures so innocent bystanders don't get hurt so they don't get their feelings hurt

Well that's part of the problem. If the government was any more of a strawman in these books they'd be dancing with Dorothy.

We don't need the government to be cartoonishly after school specially evil. You can have the larger government be more or less helpful but still on the fence about a lot of issues because of the people.

From here we can have the sentinels and other hate factions be seen as splinter group extremists. In fact this right here would also solve the whole "Boo Cyclops, YAY Spiderman" issue because the groups COULD and WOULD hate mutates and other powered people and the only reason we don't see the avengers fight the sentinels is the same reason we don't see the X-men fight Kang all that often. Because it's not their enemy.

The mutant hate went to far in the wrong direction. It needs to be a constantly shifting hot topic but one that the majority of the public would feel distant from until faced directly.

I'd actually say the opposite of this. I think they need to move away from the "mutants are feared and hated" angle, at least in the way it has been. A lot of readers are starting to wonder why it is they're feared and hated in the first place.

With how different society is today than it was in the 60's and even the 90's and early 2000's, mutants could be made more relevant by actually integrating and being more accepted in society-- as we see in real life, being in close proximity and being accepted by other people has made people who hate gays and minorities just more alarmed and angry.

So basically I think both mutants and the X-Men themselves need to become more integrated with the Marvel universe, which I believe was the "point" of AvX and Uncanny Avengers in the first place but we saw how that worked out, so this time not just with other superheroes but with the civilians and governments.
