What is the unifying theme of this? Why did you place the colors and the shapes where you did? All I see are a bunch of costume elements thrown together to create something that looks like a costume. There's no character design here. There's no unification. There's no theme. What you and most people who design costumes seem to not understand is that "DESIGN" is not easy. Design is a science far more than an art. You can't create powerful iconography without understanding the principles of design.

You might say "I'm just doing it for fun" to which I respond, "You can do better" because I truly believe that. Keep practicing fundamentals of design just as much as you might practice anatomy and gesture (both of which you also can improve).

Second, Hmm, good observation.
Thirdly, already did a Reverse Flash. Wanted to make Zoom stand out a bit in terms of colorscheme. The comics gave a shitty reason for Hunter to wear a suit just like Eobards, with cool lenses mind you, and the CW's was just Barry's with a cool mask and all black. Either way on a fundamental level is shit, famm.
And lastly, I wanted to emulate the MCU's logo. Felt it was pretty sleek and not modern but futuristic.

Elektra has a very ethnic face and Domino has an expression of disgust, but they're still feminine.
Anka's art only gets flak because it's cape industry, where all chicks have the same body type and face with only a different colored hair.
He actually takes into account ethnicity, body type, age, personality and the clothing being used for his drawings, and somehow that's a defect.

I commissioned an artist who's extremely talented but a weird flakey asshole to do these for me; an AU which I specifically came up with to antagonize my Sailor Moon-loving girlfriend who later fell in love with the concept. Rather than "transforming" into the exact same thing but wearing slightly different clothes, they transform into beefy, powerful boxers and beat the shit out of evil with their mighty gloved hands.

That and the fact that when the artist posted this it got thousands of reblogs, and being able to point out that this joke I came up with just to annoy her became so popular was HILARIOUS to me.

Superman is SUPPOSED to look old. He is THE archetypal Superhero. His costume has survived so long with so little change because it's undeniably iconic. You don't abandon powerful iconography like that just so something can look "cool" or "new". You can't modernize Superman without losing what makes him Superman, and the same goes for his costume. It's not about "muh undies", it's the whole package.

They wouldn't be square-based. You make a character square-based if you want to make them look like very strong and tough, like a rock or a machine. The main idea of Powerpuff Girls is that they don't look strong and tough, but they actually are. So it'd be better to use "feminine" curvy lines with some angular shapes as the geometric basis, and make them very nimble. Kind of like Kim Possible or BTAS/JLTAS characters.

Since when? Yes, he's iconic. Yes, normies mock his iconicness. SO. FUCKING. WHAT. Superman doesn't need to look like anything besides hopeful and happy. If anything, Superman represents the future. He's not a product of the past. He's the guy that encourages humanity to better themselves and make the world a better place. That's the message that countless artists have tried to get across with his character but somehow you still don't get it.
