My Nuzlocke comic (that I still haven't decided to upload anywhere) is coming along. I have ten three-panel comics. I can already tell that I'm improving, meaning this practice is actually worth something. Maybe I'll be able to try my hand at a real webcomic someday.

I had this concept that there was a series of god-like beings who lives outside of our dimension and aided in the progression of mankind and our creative process. Entities like abstract thought, music, memories, since man's creative nature was born these gods were the physical representation of these ideas. I thought of a story of a god called The Director, who represented man's ideas and dreams put into reality; compared to in film where a written story is interpreted by actors and cameras put into a physical form. He keeps continuity in our universe by popping in and out of our world in the form of a slide reel and destroys any creature that threatens the creative nature of humans. The Director himself looks like a mix of the mask (mainly yellow, purple, and green for color design) and the big shoulders and suit of pic related joker. He has the ability to warp reality on a small scale that doesn't hurt the grand scheme of things. Basically a lot of trippy imagery of characters becoming other characters or people punching through dimensions all under the form of some kind of movie set sort of imagery. He takes on creatures that represent the bad side of people where emotions corrupt the brain and halt any form of betterment in a person, like nitpickers who are living representations of people who lose sight of there dreams and pick apart and over analyze things (business men with hair pointing like devil horns and cloaks covering their bodies and form hands at the ends). The story itself is that someone has slowly been taking small chunks out of the universes timeline and is assumed that they have been altering reality as they see fit but no one can tell. The Director goes door to door amongst these gods of the human mind to locate and draw out whoever is doing this. Basically a light hearted mix of psychonauts and the sandman. Does the idea have potential?
>>
>>86031431
Every idea has potential, anon. The main factor in determining a good comic is how the story flows and shit.

right?
or at least if it was fast, so you could do a full-finished masterpiece in every panel without having to streamline at all.
>>
I got two ideas but I'm trying to think which one would be best

Either an older miserable man raising his younger cousin, who is also miserable but creepy. She likes tragic news and seeing misery. The two bond as a family from making misery as their entertainment

Or

A miserable Uncle living in a crappy neighborhood, that's raising an eccentric and cheerful niece that's a bit out there, yet shows her uncle of having fun with life by taking risks and having adventures
>>
>>86032974
If you can do dark humor well, I'd go with the first. Sounds much more unique than the second one.
>>
>>86032974
those both sound sweet as hell
is there a reason it can't be both? You never see two cousins raising one of their nieces. Grumpy uncle, his addamsy cousin, and his loopy and adorable niece. That's a formula for fun times right there i tell you what
>>
>>86033054
Yeah I was thinking about that too, I just want to be really good with the dark humor

>>86033055
That was actually my original idea, having a grumpy uncle raise two nieces, one cheerful and the other creepy, yet since I'm just starting out. I don't think I could write it out well between the nieces, so I thought about just writing about one of them

I had another idea where the creepy niece had the cheerful one as a friend but I just didn't like that idea
>>
>>86033208
two nieces might be a bit much, and a little too Gravity Falls-y
but if one of them is his cousin, so she's a bit older, then you have kind of a different-levels thing going on. Actually what your description brought to mind was another comic I found in these threads, who never shows up anymore, BCDE. a depressed loser with a cute daughter who lives with his loser brother and shitbag sister who help him raise the kid. it's like a cruddy-ass Full House with severely depressing moments, but they still love each other and basically function as a family
>>
>>86033276
Yeah, I think I'll just do the miserable man raising his younger creepy cousin.

Now I have the man written down but I'm having trouble with the cousin's personality.

I had thought about making her apathetic, you know emotionless, yet I don't know about that idea because it might get old and she's feeling like a copycat of Wednesday
>>
>>86033456
I can't think of a way to be a creepy girl that isn't cliche at this point. the energetic one, the seemingly chipper one who's actually gleeful about carnage, the eerily dumb one who doesn't seem to understand death, the superintelligent one who understands it TOO well and has too much detachment.. and all that on top of the obvious deadpan wednesday and creepy susie types.
Just spitting in the dark here, howbout a hick that likes shooting and skinning squirrels, and at first you're just like oh well that's something our ancestors had to do, and then it just extends beyond that.

>>86033717
That one's less cliche than the rest, for sure. but it's still been done. really everything has, don't worry about it. i'd love to read a comic about Rick Sanchez Except She's a Young Girl
but then how do you contrast her with the grumpy uncle?
>>
>>86034136
>thoughts?
1. such a broad cliche concept but done with attitude so I'm solidly hooked
2. your english needs some work, chum. but it's okay, we can proofread for you
3. yay boobies
4. just behold? that's a bit of a letdown after that setup. I'd like to hear something like "and now she.. (something she's going to do, or something even beyond that)"
>>
>>86034136
Looking cool, I'm not drawn in by the vague narration but the art alone sells it for me. I think you might wanna make your text a little bigger though, unless you're planning for the final strip to be a higher resolution.
>>
>>86034159
>but then how do you contrast her with the grumpy uncle?

He might be a grumpy cousin, I'm still deciding on that one.

But although both of them are miserable, the creepy cousin loves it, from seeing tragic news, drawing disturbed art and having misery around her.

The man doesn't like his miserable state, yet once he bonds with the cousin, he starts to his misery as a good thing.
>>
>>86034729
i do think we dont have enough cousins in things
but you have to decide why she's living with him, as it wouldnt be as much of an age difference to be a guardian situation, right?
I like this contrast. and it's something we can all relate to: learning to be okay with your misery.
>>
>>86034950
>but you have to decide why she's living with him

Oh, I've thought about that and I'm down to two ideas

A. Her single mother died, so when she's offered to be taken care of by the other family, much of them refuse because of how creepy she is, so the man sees this as an opportunity as a family bond and takes her care

B. The mother becomes too unfit, maybe she's mentally ill or in rehab, which some of her crazy ways rub off on her daughter.

>I like this contrast. and it's something we can all relate to: learning to be okay with your misery.

Thanks. It's what I live with too, so I decided to create something about it

I'm going to head to bed but I'll be back, thank you all for your advice.

I didn't even read the phone the first time, I thought it just said, new message or some thing like that
>>
>>86036813
All your text is a little on the small side. There's plenty of empty space, so you could make all the dialogue balloons a bit bigger.

You could probably zoom in a little on the phone screen to make it more readable.
>>

Do it really needs its own balloon. Thanks a bunch!

You're right about that, but that size is about the best I could find when the story gets a bit wordy. I tried different fonts and that one is the most table on that size. I could try using different sizes depending on how much they talk, but that triggers my OCD and I'm not sure it's a proper workaround.

Damn incestuous cucking? That's hot, you got anymore

Tell us more about the brother and sister, is the sister doing it because the brother is secretly into it or she just likes being a cruel bitch?
>>
>>86039786
Language and grammar seems fine, though the font looks like it's in italics.

Girl's speech balloons in panel 1 could do with a little nudge up and left a bit, to avoid some near tangents. The speech balloon tail should look like it emanates from the center of the balloon (or at least not as off-center as it is).
Boy's second dialogue could be centered in the balloon better.

The balloons in panels 2 to 4 could do with re-positioning slightly to avoid tangents as well.
>>
>>86040009
The brother and sister are side characters. Johnny bullied her brother during high school so he kinda hates him. The sister hook up with Johnny for revenge because he was unfaithful first. What's better than getting laid with the guy who bullied him, I guess?
Once this mini arc about then ends, I don't think they'll appear again tho.

1) Have the brother get enraged then try to fight the bully, yet the bully and even his sister beats him up

2) Have the brother tied up and forced to see his sister having rough sex with bully

3) Something awakens from the brother and he's an eternal cuck

>>86040379
>I don't think they will appear again in the future, but maybe I can do some extra story for them, I dunno.

Please do an extra story on them, where are the previous chapters of them or a link of this webcomic?
>>
there needs to be a black friend of the brother that also cucks him
>>
>>86039786
why is she so fit? Make her more girly, it kinda looks weird.
Her face looks a little off, I couldn't tell if that was a man or woman. If you couldn't see the boobs, you would think they were gay lovers.

Pretty much this.
From her arms, stomach and face. She looks more like a dude
>>

>>
>>86040665
Uhh yeah, the story is about him not knowing if he's gay. This chapter is about him going on a sex frenzy with women to find out. Though by now if the point where everything falls apart for him. I can't link it from my phone, but it's your usual SoL with s bit of nsfw. Don't expect too much of it.
>>
>>86040744
>the story is about him not knowing if he's gay.
>This chapter is about him going on a sex frenzy with women to find out.

Ehhh, I was hoping a little more than that.
So the comic is him just banging women figuring how if he's gay? That's really boring if that's the main plot
>>
>>86040614
Fit women mainly exercise their thighs. Her legs in the first panel are thin, they become straight rectangulars after the buttocks. That doesn't match with those bodybuilder abs.
>>
>>86040744
why wouldn't johnny just bang one chick or since he's a bully to the brother, why doesn't he try and bang him? I'm not really getting the incestuous brother and sister thing and seems unnecessary
>>86040801
yeah I'm not really feeling this, it's tedious and johnny himself seems just unlikable and uninteresting.
>>
>>86040744
>Uhh yeah, the story is about him not knowing if he's gay.

That's the story? You should make this into something bigger unless this is going to be a very short SOL. I don't see readers holding excitement with Johnny just randomly having sex with girls to see if he's gay, that's gonna get old
>>
>>86040461
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Sweden
>>
It's a SoL. There is more to the story than that. There are subplots like the brother and sister stuff, and other characters also have their own arc.
Guy not knowing which side he songs is just what started all this, but it's not what everything will be about.
Each chapter is supposed to be thematic. The first was to introduce the characters, the second was about his supposed lingering feelings for a friend, and this this one of about he thinking being the town bicycle is enough of an answer.
He is supposed to be a total asshole, but the idea was he would be the character that changes the most thru the story.
There's plenty stuff about a lot of different things, just like any other SoL, buy this particular chapter I'd about what I said before. He's also banging his teacher from college, though the resolution to that will come later.
>>
>>86041420

My original plan was that once he changed, a new character would take his place as the asshole, being a turbo sperg that fucks up everything he touches, figuratively speaking.
But, in a way, every character is a bit of an asshole. Johnny is the bigger one so far.
Oh, in case it wasn't clear, Johnny doesn't know she bangs her brother, part of these strips is him not getting a clue about it, but the audience does.

Exposition is an issue I'm tackling right now. I want the reader to know what the MC knows. Basically everything that you know except for some very basic shit is told to you when it is told to the MC.

ESP helps fill in a few voids in a creative way, but I also don't want to bog down the reader with a butt load of information as well.

My problem is that there's information I would like the reader to know but outside of Exposition I'm not sure how to go about it.

The goal when doing an infodump is to do it in a way that isn't boring. You could have it happen while characters are doing something visually interesting, or my personal favorite, do that and also have it be told from a specific character's POV which lets them get opinions in and also builds their personality for the reader.

I'm not opposed to infodumps, but I sort of like the challenge of fitting it all in naturally. Having an Esper as an MC affords me other ways to obtain information, such as mind reading.

I certainly dont mind adding information after the fact

some people are stubborn and refuse to see how they can improve.
>>
>>86045149
Is there a way to see how you can improve? I've always run into this, it feels like a wall that you can't see and it's stopping you from going any further, and the only thing you can do is wait, sometimes a VERY long time until you're able to see the hole in the wall you can climb through to progress

I don't know if that analogy works for everyone, but I feel that's how it works for me

Well if you draw without actively pushing yourself, studying, and trying to learn, you really won't improve. I've seen plenty of artists degrade because they reached a comfy spot in their art and were reasonable popular, and just stopped trying to push themselves.
>>
>>86045266
expanding your horizons is one way to improve, pick something you don't draw very often. Draw things you know how to draw but in someone elses style. The best advice I was ever given (but completely ignored) is dont stop drawing.

I've found that you can never do enough Gesture Drawing

Practice daily, and do lots of life drawings. Draw stuff that you're bad at. Ask for critique often so you can specifically where you need to improve. Once you get into the swing of drawing every day seeing improvement will be a lot easier. You'll never really feel like you're improving in the moment, but when you compare your current work to stuff from a few months back you should see a difference.

I genuinely believe that Chris is intentionally or otherwise one of the greatest artists of our time.

Something about how he captures consumerism and the mid-2000s so perfectly and how he represents the growing narcissism of the internet age so spectacularly, just sits so well with me it hurts.

Sure, the comic is a nightmare to read and Chris's life is as much a work of art as the comic itself, but what does that matter? Death of the author, man. Sonichu isn't fun to read because when you read into the inner workings of the 2000s you can't be left with anything BUT nightmares.

Whether this will ever be recognized or not, I can't say. Maybe it'll just be swept under the rug like the nuances of the 2008 crisis, or maybe he'll get recognition as "The man who was trolled to death" instead of as an unintentionally great artist.

Like everything involving CWC, you just don't know where the journey will end.

>>
>>86045110
Are they working 10+ years or are they "working" 10+ years?

To get better you have to actually learn stuff, research the fundamentals of drawing and practice a lot. If you draw the same animu faces, the same one pose you know how to draw, you won't get anywhere. You won't learn to draw things you never drew before by magic.

Now, where things get tricky, the result of two people learning the same class, practicing the same hours can also diverge, it will come down to how good is your critical eye. It's hard at first to look at a drawing and notice the less jarring mistakes, it's hard when it's other people's work, but it's specially hard when it's your own.
To develop a critical eye there's no secret, you have to look at how it's done and learn how it's not done, and just by practicing you will learn to spot things that are done wrong... But then, to see what is wrong with your own drawings you have to learn how to look at it objectivelly, and that's the hard part, there are people too dense, too stuborn to accept the fact that they suck, so it's harder for them to know what to fix, for them the drawings are perfect already. They may realize it's not as good as that other guy's drawings, but they won't realize why, both are perfect after all.

As a bonus, here's a log of Stan Prokopenko's improvement over the years, it's pretty interesting:

He's just an autistic manbaby who is actually moderately retarded and has the mindset of a child. So, he draws like an 8 year old, and and inserts all of his real-life problems (all of the meanies in his life are bad-guys in his stories, and its also an outlet for him to lament his sexual frustrations, etc).

There's really nothing deeper than that.

People have put money into his shit, but that's not because they really support him as an "artist" but rather they just want to give him some lifeblood to see how bad the trainwreck will be at the end of the line.

- Run Ads on your site. eg Project Wonderful.

- Patreon. Larger, higher quality images and bonus content for a nominal monthly fee.

- Digital collections. Several strips collected together in a a single PDF. Stick a cover on it, maybe some bonus content. See: Comixology Submit, Gumroad.

- Print collections. As Digital above, but hard copy. Requires spending money to print them first.

- Conventions. Get a table in artist alley and sell your print comics. Lose even more money on travel, hotels and other expenses. Keep doing it anyway, because you've got the bug and you can never go back to not doing it.

Just a little doodle, but I want to make a comic called "Life's Green and Blue".

It follows Marie (left), an orphan all of her life constantly dragging Morgan and her friends into danger and adventures to find treasure on a map that she's had since the orphange took her in.

And Marie, granddaughter of the witch responsible for the disappearance of dozens of people, including Marie's parents. She reluctantly joins Marie on her adventures in hopes to atone for what her grandmother did.

Nothing too fancy or super creative, but I think it'd be fun to make something similar to a mix of Sabrina and Camp Weedonwantcha. Of course I'll have more than just a doodle or two done eventually, but I really wanted to get feedback from /co/ before going any further.

It's a lot harder to interact with your audience compared to Tapastic and Smackjeeves, as you have to manually check for comments, which is the only way you can talk to your readers. The comic rating system can be annoying too if you downvote bombed, making your comic appear lower in some areas of the site. Other than that, though, I'm pretty fond of the site.
It has more readers and fewer comics than Tapastic, so you can hit a bigger crowd with less competition.

Upvotes are harder to get on Webtoons, as each person can only rate a comic once and a lot of your readers won't even bother rating. If you're pretty successful on one site, you'll have decent chances on webtoons as well. Just don't post your comic one page an episode on webtoons, the readers there prefer their comics in chunks.

Is it ok to ask for some advice regarding the wording on this logo for my comic?
English is my second language so I have no idea if the "Stargem" part is acceptable, should it be "Star Gem" instead or doesn't it matter?
"Stargem" isn't necessarily a proper noun for something or someone in the story itself.
>>
>>86058311
>isn't necessarily a proper noun
It's not the name of the castle?
I would say Gemstar sounds better than Stargem
The logo itself is beautiful, though the icon could use a little bit more detail. Not a lot, just a few darker-orange lines
>>
>>86058385
Not really, the castle itself isn't even necessarily named, it is simply refered to as "The Castle" in the comic itself.
The reason behind the title is that this castle contains a star-shaped gem that grants wishes.

Can't wait to read it! What's the premise?

I've planned the story for mine on and off for the last 10 or so years, since I was in middle school. It's great to finally work on it, I can't wait to tell the story because all the characters are very dear to me and I'm pleased with some recent developments I made in the world and in the lore.

On the other hand, it's a dauntingly massive project (I don't think tackling a smaller project first will help) and it's been generally frustrating to contend with. I work at a snail's pace and I'm coming further to terms with how much I've been neglecting my art practice with each new panel, which is always a painful process. I'm also breaking into a new technique for it and got some pretty negative responses to my initial attempts, which I strongly value but still ended up getting sensitive about. At least I'm nearly getting to the fun parts in the story.

>Have another idea for web comic about future scientists discovering a unexplainable phenomenon on a recent colonized Pluto, something dubbed the "medusa sun" that starts off as two large metal rings rising out and spinning in the air until they burst into a ball of light that seems to turn any men who look at it into odd stone formations and effects technology in ways that makes no logical sense. It's actually in the T's &C's, you were only allowed use Manga Studio for drawing Manga; Western art-styles were forbidden.

But in the end it was easier to rebrand it Clip Studio than to keep prosecuting people who insisted in drawing in a non-approved manner.
>>
>>86067416
I associate Manga with bad art and 12 year olds who like bad art, so based on the name I had no reason to believe that it was a good product.

It's like making an art program and calling it "Sparkledog Furfag OC Maker."
>>
>>86067228
If you already own a copy of Manga Studio 5, then updating to the latest version of Clip Studio Paint should be free. Download CSP and put in your MS5 serial number. Version 1.5.4 onwards is all branded as Clip Studio Paint.

Note that this most recent version of CSP includes tools for animation, and other changes, which means files saved in that latest version aren't compatible with earlier versions. For one thing, the file sizes of CSP .clip files have better optimization than MS5 .lip files.

When I was going from MS5 1.5.3 to CSP 1.5.4, it essentially made a new install of CSP, but it recognised where all the old MS5 files etc were, so I didn't have to mess around re-making custom brushes etc. I now use CSP, but still have the previous version of MS5 installed as well.

The main thing to consider with upgrades is if you want to go from Regular to EX.

So, guys, I think I have something for a short side story involving the siblings. It's pretty much a reconciliation scene following the aftermath of the scene I shown here before, I'm thinking 16 to 20 pages. Probably won't be part of the main series, but I think I'm into something. Are you willing to give it a read once I write down my ideas?

16 pages is a short side story?
>dragging longer than necessary
it is, but I think some of it is my terrible pacing lately. I'm finding myself poring over a script for days, unwilling to settle on its writing, because I wanna get everything perfect. This last big plot needs to really feel like it was a good ending and not a fizzle-out... and when you've had the fucking multiverse-destroying thrice-previously-defeated lore-riddled badguy already, it's hard to move upward from there.

As for this guy specifically, I was just so inspired by the concept of heroic sacrifices that go significantly beyond risking your life into giving up your afterlife. like remember in thundercats? cmon. that shit was meaningful. tales of symphonia 2 anyone? big spoilers there.

>>
>>86084480
Play with expectations, balance the art with the writing (don't rely on funny faces to carry a terrible joke, it shows really hard), embrace slapstick but apply it cleverly, play personality types off of each other, etc. Analyze what you like about your favorite funny webcomics. I'll recommend first analyzing the joke structures for Nedroid comics because there are a lot of them to look at and it's made me laugh more consistently than any other webcomic. Study Oglaf if you want to make it raunchy.

But I'm assuming you want to do a gag-a-day, the approach to a funny webcomic with a narrative is usually a bit different and relies more heavily on character interaction and visual gags.

So, I've been thinking for a while to make a separate blog for my NSFW stuff, still in the works, but I've decided to use Irene as the mascot for it so here's the initial attempt for a logo. The mosaic I'd because I haven't decided on a name yet and it hasn't launched, but once it does, I'll be sure to tell those I know are interested in it.
In the meantime, what do you think of this logo? I wanted something simplistic, and still SFW but maybe I went too simplistic. You tell me.

yeah because people will take Sara as a Kaa copycat.
Just make Sara as a normal big anaconda.
Also it doesn't have to end with the kids fearing as they're swallowed. Remember that children are native and dumb, just have sara make it as a game to trick them to be swallowed
>>
>>86093938
You're just jealous because people like this guy's idea but yours were failures.
>>
Small nitpick that could be ignored- Anaconda's are from South America. If the children are Indian than Sara as a python would be more appropriate.
>>
>>86093901
>>86093950
These guys are right, I would drop the hypno, yet I don't know about the children willingly being swallowed.

It's possibly my own fetish but I really enjoy unwilling vore, the fear and demise makes it better
>>
>>86094032
Consider the threading idea mentioned above. Sara travels all-the-way-through the children. They enjoy it. She convinces them to try it with her, mouth first, with entirely different consequences.
>>
>>86093950
>>86093999
>>86094032
>>86094097
>>86094189

From your guys suggestions, I'll do it like this

-It'll be set in South America, since Anaconda are in South America and I can still keep the brownies)
-There will two children, a brother and sister
-Sara is an anaconda that always wanted to have a friendship, so she finds a brother and sister that sees Sara as really cool
-Sara views them as friends and they play and stuff until she slowly starts seeing them as food
-She tries to ignore the urges by just eating wild pigs etc etc, yet she starts having dreams of the bro and sis WANTING to be eaten by her
-Sara then spies on the bro and sis bathe, while imagining her hungry mouth consuming the bro and sis's cute butts
-Sara finally gives in

Now with how that happens, I'll make it as a game but I still want to make it as really perverted. I don't want Sara to just swallow them and that's it.
>>
Question,

how far can technology get in a Fantasy setting before it becomes stupid?
>>
>>86094502
>Now with how that happens, I'll make it as a game but I still want to make it as really perverted. I don't want Sara to just swallow them and that's it.

Make the children super stupid, have the brother and sister do sexual stuff to Sara and even themselves before she eats them
And make sure the vore part is very satisfying.
Don't do "snake swallows, leaves and the end"
Have it where sara swallows, says some sinister words then rests as her body fully digests them. Have panels of her bloated stomach make loud noises then slowllly go back to its normal size.
>>
>>86094586
Depends on how skilled you are at blending it in with the world.
>>
>>86094586
That depends, what's the purpose of the technology in the setting and story?
>>
>>86094666
I guess it isn't supposed to blend but rather be a stark contrast with everything else. I'm just curious if adding airships and even Nukes is excessive.
>>86094679
so the setting is that there is this one faction of isolationists who have super advanced technology. E.G. Electricity, flight, guns. They remain isolated behind their incredibly high walls for 500 years but eventually attack their neighbors for seemingly no reason. Again, I'm just curious how much more advanced I can make them before it's dumb
>>
>>86084480
it's very simple:
think of a comic that wouldn't be funny at all. one where people's reaction would be "I don't get it.. that's just normal"
now change it so it's not what you'd expect of a normal non-funny interaction anymore. throw in a kink to expectations
look around you, ask what would happen in every situation if someone involved was an idiot, or purposely breaking the usual rules of conduct
>>
>>86094795
If you want to do nukes in a fantasy world, I suggest reading the Darkness series by Harry Turtledove, which is World War II in a swords-and-sorcery universe. It's really neat how Turtledove handled the tech-to-magic transitions.
>>
>>86095048
Will do.
>>
>>86094795
>super advanced technology.
Is that compared to the typical Dark Ages/Medievel era fantasy-setting or our modern 21st century society?

Even Industrial Revolution era technology would be 'super-advanced' compared to a bunch of Norman knights.

Did the Isolationists develop this tech from scratch over 500 years or did they have access to a cache of relics while everyone else fell into (and rose out of?) barbarism? Where did they get the resources and motivation to develop their technology to that standard?

Once they leave their ivory tower and start their invasion, what's to stop them just steamrolling over their neighbours? Do their neighbours have magic and dragons?

What's the STORY going to be?
>>
>>86094502
>I'll make it as a game but I still want to make it as really perverted. I don't want Sara to just swallow them and that's it.

Sara starts penetrating them, first the sis, then the brother, taking turns. They start having a game of "how for in can Sara go." They discover she can go a lot further if it's anal. Eventually she goes all the way through the ass and out the mouth. Kids think it's pretty nuts. Then she goes through a mouth and out the ass, eventually threading both of them. The game ends. Then she says it's their turn, and asks them to go through her mouth.

More than two kids would also be a plus, imo.

>>
>>86094586
High renaissance. Go any further into the enlightenment and you start wonder why nobody's applying the scientific method to magic.
>>
>>86095098
>Did the Isolationists develop this tech from scratch over 500 years or did they have access to a cache of relics
They actually find a cache of technology from a long gone civilization.

As for why don't they just steam roll everyone they aren't attacking for conquest. Their whole purpose that is discovered later is that they declared themselves the protectors of the dangerous technology they found and invaded in order to prevent the tech from being used by people unable to comprehend their power. In this case, the King of the neighboring country finds another cache of these weapons, which turns out to be several nukes, and plans on using them to defeat his enemies and the advanced society.
>>
>>86094586
vacuum tubes
>>86094795
nukes that work the way nukes do is way too far
nukes that work based on using magic to split atoms are absolutely kosher.
>>
>>86095312
How does the neighbouring king know what the nukes are and how to use them?

I just remembered that the Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind manga also has the theme of quasi-medieval people using lost super-technology for conquest, although that uses science-magical super-super-technology instead of anything we would recognise or understand.

What is the STORY? Who are the protagonists and how do they get involved?
Otherwise you're writing an RPG campaign without any players.
>>
>>86095445
>How does the neighbouring king know what the nukes are and how to use them?
Haven't worked that out. Best I come up with soo far is he finds something explaining what they are.

>What is the STORY?
Set in a fantasy world, the country of Estrella is the main power on the continent and has been so for the last 300 years and has enjoyed peace for most of that time. However, they share one of their borders with an even great power, an isolationist nation known only as "The Unbidden". The Unbidden, using technology hundreds if not thousands of years more advanced, have remained in their one large city behind their large walls. For the last 500 years they have had no contact with anyone from the outside world. There are two main characters. The first being one of Estrella's princesses named Camilla and the second being her knight and protector Samuel. On Camilla's 22nd birthday her father goes missing just before the Unbidden break their 500 year silence and begin invading Estrella. After narrowly escaping the capital Camilla and Samuel set out on a quest to not only find her father but to uncover the secret of the Unbidden.

there's still some detail that needs to be worked out but it's a start

I'd just make a Patreon as a side thing and nothing more than for people to support and help you draw more
>>
>>86115619
I've been doing this for a year but I only have ~100 active readers. A bigger webcomic artist gave me a huge shout-out recently and I got thousands of views, but I'm not sure how many of them will stay. He told me I should make a patreon as soon as possible. Then again, no one ever used my Paypal button, so I really don't know.
>>
>>86115427
It's only begging if you make it begging. Make your Patreon about exclusive content and it's easy money.

Easy money if your content isn't shit, I mean. But that's not my call.
>>
>>86115427
You can post images directly to your Patreon blog, but it's only set up for one image at a time that way. If you want to show more than one image in a blog post, then it suggests hosting on another site and hotlinking from there. The blog posts can be locked to certain tiers and above (eg Everyone in the world (free), Patrons pledging $X or more, etc).
>>
>>86115677
Is it possible to post some of your stuff?

Eh, you might have a tough time, unless you do some fanservice. Maybe offer a tier where you draw chubby Kevin crossdressing then the next tier is Kevin crossdressing while doing something really lewd.

You'll get easy fujo/gay chub money from that.

>I'm not really into pandering, though.

Do you wanna make this paper or not? Besides, you're pandering with the patron already.

Just do it as a funny thing and see how it works.

>Chapter: Kevin becomes a magical girl!
>The strip shows Kevin cosplaying as a magicial girl doing stuff but looks sorta lewd
>Anon-"Man even thought he's a chubby boy, he looks cute there"
>You: "Haha yeah, people thought I should do lewds of him, crazy huh?
>Anon-".....yeah"
>You-"Psh..Hey anon, if you just spare ___$, you can see Kevin's chubby ass fucked bareback on my Patron"
>Anon-"U-Uh sure"

Literally zero people do this ever. Show me a SINGLE example of a comic that failed to gain any readers because of the fact that it had a Patreon at the beginning and no other reason.

One.

Single.

Example.

But hold on, I'll be right back with some names.

Then tell me how you know for certain why people aren't reading your comic? You can't really survey non readers.
>>
>>86116934
>Maybe if you're stupid.

That's a stupid comment itself. There are webcomics that are popular because others read it, while not even enjoying it. Hell, there's webcomics where people only like it because it has its waifu.

Yet with people not reading a comic could be millions of reasons, while a lot of them are pretty dumb
>>
>>86117140
Virtually no comic creators want to admit the real reasons why nobody read their comics because it's their fault. They'll always make excuses so they can pretend it isn't because they made a shitty comic.

>>
>>86118595
That was basically my point. You can't prove patreon causes comics to fail. You can't prove with certainty why a comic fails. Seems like they were claiming it was Patton's fault that their comic never took off, but they had no way of proving that was why.
>>
>>86118885
Just posting up a patreon with some webcomic doesn't give you free dosh. I hope to god you're not trying to say that.

There have been great comics made, yet the patreon money is extremely low.
>>
>>86118950
What I'm saying is that claiming that patreon kills comics is absurd and cannot be proven.
>>
>>86118602
Spite.
>>
>>86119054
Well that depends.

Is the artist putting up paidwalls for their content? That can do it

Is the artist being extremely lazy with posting content after making a patreon?
That can do it too
>>
>>86119377
True. Though I feel like the posters were claiming that simply having an optional patreon can cause a webcomic to fail.
>>
>>86119636
I was saying that. Having a Patreon WILL cause a comic to fail if you don't have active readers yet. Period.
>>
>>86119787

>>86115427
I had someone pledge to mine, and by the time i'd composed a thank-you message (and actually found where you message them, patreon's site is fucking terrible) asking what the patron would like to see, what I should be doing with it, it told me I couldn't send it. he had already blocked me and removed his pledge.
anyway if people are asking you to make one, you're good.

Hey /hyw/, what aspect of comic making do you struggle the most with? How do you confront it/avoid it? Have you made any improvement with that issue yet?
>>
>>86133350
tough to say exactly, but definitely something about the writing process. Sometimes it's deciding which of multiple choices to go with, sometimes it's trying to step back far enough to get a real grasp of the story as a whole and make sure it works as a product.. sometimes it's just pacing

that said I definitely also struggle with art. usually backgrounds, trying to make a big space look big while still making the characters visible. Tiny videogame maps (many of which were literal stages) have me unable to visualize what large areas look like
>>
>>86133350
I know the big plot points but I struggle with coming up with the smaller events in-between. Also keeping the lore of the world consistent.
>>
>>86133350
Coming up with gags every day. Comedy is hard.

There's also the issue of some people barely keeping with their work to be able to participate.

On the topic of endings

I'm shooting for more of a bittersweet ending with dark tones and implications, but an overall happy-ish conclusion. For the story I'm working on now.

Then I have one story that has an absolute depressing and horrible end for both main characters.

Most of my stories get the ending planned the moment I create the characters, no exception that I recall. It makes easier to construct, and developt them when the goal is on sight.

Most of my endings are not even big, they just give a bit of closure, of course, when your comic in named Memento Mori, there aren't many ways to finish it. (Warning: Old as fuck, but the only webcomic to reach its conclussion so far)

Let us know more details about her, but without exposition. I like the fact that you kept the sentences short, so it was quick to read and it maintained the feeling. The art is relaxed, dramatic and overall pleasing and interesting.

So, a little less vagueness is what I ask. Some interesting hints about what she did or is going to do or why. Just a little. Right now there are sentences that carry the same information in different words. Like how she destroyed everything, and is terrifying. If anything, I recommend avoiding repeating the same idea, because the art conveys how terrifying she is already. I think always after adding text it is a good idea to let it sit for a while. and come back the next day to see if there's anything that can be deleted. That way the reader can focus on the pictures, which in this case are pretty cool.

So. She's strong and terrifying. What else? What now?
