Garou arc doesn't need padding. Webcomic Garou arc is roughly as long as everything before, and would easily fill 12 eps.

I think Murata is just adding more story because OPM has been such a hit that they want to keep the manga going for a long time, and the webcomic clearly has an end on the horizon, seeing as how Saitama is already A-rank.

The arc is giving more attention to neglected heroes (Metal Bat, presumably Watchdog Man), allowing us to see progress in other characters (Genos, Fubuki to bridge the level of strength she's displayed between when she first fought Saitama to her participation in the Monster Assoc. invasion), and giving depth to the setting (the world of heroes and monsters; not all the strong people are in the Hero Assoc. and Tiger level monsters are also quite the threat, we just don't see it as such because of how we've mainly been dealing with the high level heroes).

Well, ONE's writing the manga version too, so I guess he figured it needed an extra arc in between the start of the Hero Hunt and the MA arc?

I've been okay with it so far, the extremely slow pace of updates aside, but then, I've purposefully not read the webcomic, so I'm not stuck with this "GET TO THE GOOD STUFF" adhd you see in the fandom sometimes.

Western superhero comic fights are succinct and to the point, while the pacing within battle shounen is so horrendous that I can scarcely labor through them anymore. Worse still is that victory is generally decided by the highest power level, typically that of the MC, and a couple others, with the rest of the cast serving as jobbers, rather than by the clever application of a hero's power or through the exploitation of an enemy's weakness. Two guys punching each other for 20 chapters until one of them randomly wins.

I think this shows a difference in how comics and manga work. Comic actions scenes are kinda like if you take a picture in a moment and everything is still.Manga uses lines to show different speeds.
