77 and 78 are around the 30,000 mark. That's still way more then the usual Scooby books do. It's a shame but comic fans were never going to give Flintstones a chance

Civil War II is one the biggest mistakes Marvel ever did. Especially its timing couldn't have been worse
>>
>>85460570
Will these even need that big numbers to keep going anyway? Surely DC never really expected them to do consistently huge numbers. If they could stay about 25-30K by issue 8 I'd say they'd be super pleased.

Titans is basically a Flash spin-off, I love it.

But it has the same name as the recent popular movie, is a sequel to an event that Marvel readers absolutely love and comes only 6 months after the last line wide months long event. I can't possibly imagine why it's doing so poorly....

>>85460877
The shit sequel to a shit but monumental event sees readers and retailers flocking away despite those fucking advertised big deaths.

>>85460862
Doesn't help that it's been delayed.
At least, I hope it doesn't help that the main event book has been delayed by a month.

It may be event fatigue finally settling in. It only took a couple of decades.

She hasn't appeared yet but the announcement alone probably killed the hype for this book.

I honestly thought that 'Tec will do better than this and Action Comics fall really hard.

Green Lanterns, Aquaman and Green Arrow are stable and Red Hood did better than I thought (not suprised tho because it was really good issue). Batgirl and Batgirl & BoP sales were expected.

Wonder Woman #2 did better than Superman and #3 did worse. I actually wonder if fans are getting tired with the slow pace of WW and if the change in artists will hurt Superman.

Overall, July was a good for DC.

Overall, nothing too surprising. It should be re-emphasized -- again -- that this is about PREORDERS, not actual estimates of what people are buying.

Batgirl being below Birds of Prey makes sense, in that regard, since BoP is both a Rebirth one-shot *and* the team didn't have a book for a while.

Very weird/interesting to see New Super-Man so high above Superman #2/#3. I mean, we saw it in the Top 10 chart before, but it's weird to see the actual Superman books at 15 and 18 (Action Comics at 27 and 33, too). I suppose I understand why it was preordered so much, but it makes me a bit worried. The best-seller list on Bleeding Cool this week didn't list the number 2:
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/08/14/bleeding-cool-bestseller-list-14th-august-2016-all-star-batman-gets-a-perfect-score/

(but the equivalent one *did* list it for the first issue:
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/07/17/bleeding-cool-bestseller-list-17th-july-2016-rebirth-takes-on-civil-war-ii/)

Flintstones at 61 isn't too bad, either. Since Harley Quinn 30 only sold a little more, Flintstones probably sold a little less than Scooby Apocalypse's 69k: maybe 50-60k, given that Harley sold 55k in June and everything suggests that numbers might grow a little this month, too. 50-60k is a solid number, given that Flintstones is far and away the best and most stable series of the HB lineup (Scooby is a bit too weird, and the creative team hasn't changed up their style from JL3000; Future Quest runs into too many delays, which kills hype; Wacky Raceland is...too weird, to put it simply). So, out of the other HB books, it might be the slowest to fall or even rebound in sales.

Hellblazer might have a weird fate. It apparently *did* sell OK and on a Batman/Superman/GL week, too:http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/07/24/bc-bestseller-list-24th-july-2016-no-marvel-universe-comics-just-dc-rebirth-and-star-wars/

So, there's a chance it could be stable for a few months.

Kill or Be Killed and Black Monday Murders should be able to top it handily this month but it still looks like Image's sales will be way way down in 2016 from 2015. BMM can't be relied upon for steady sales given Hickman's track record although Kill or Be Killed can.

First or second issue.

First issue had Captain America defying SHIELD and the ending had Hank Pym, Reed Richards, and Iron Man starting to set up their own group to bring Cap in as the cliffhanger page.

Second issue they were already in conflict. Third issue was the one where they tricked Cap's group with the intent of trapping them.

Someone did bring up a good point in the General community section:

http://community.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?83669-DC-Comics-Sales-Top-Marvel-in-July-Thanks-to-Rebirth-s-Strong-Performance/page3

>The reason I'm surprised is because I don't think most people realized just how hard it was for DC to pull that off this month.

>With DC publishing 63 comics to Marvel's 87, the average DC book had to sell 38% more copies to break even on units. Then to overcome the price differential, they had to sell another 46% more copies, on top of the previous 38%, for a total of 84% more copies. That also doesn't count the fact that every DC comic in the top 40 had its sales adjusted downwards to cover returnability. While nobody knows the exact figures for that, it's probably at least 10%. Put it all together and it means that the average DC book probably had to sell double the copies of the average Marvel book just to break even in dollar share.

>Beating Marvel on unit share is tough but something that it's reasonable for DC to aim for (even if they don't achieve it). Beating Marvel regularly on dollar share isn't something I expect to happen. I'm actually surprised they managed it even this once.

>As for Marvel's reboots, I generally like the fresh new titles, but most of my favorites are the first ones to get the axe.
>>

Sales doesn't really matter much anymore. Both Marvel and DC have admitted to what i have been saying makes the best business sense now. They have both admitted that they are IP farms. Those low selling books? Who cares, pump that shit out until you get a great idea for tv or movies, oh and merchandise. Just cause marvel is pumping out more books means they have more money to burn to find the right thing to turn into real money

>>
>>85472193

>>
>>85471571
The best part about this was the astronomical drop between 1-2 for the ANAD books
>>
>>85472439

>>
>>85472489
minis sell worse than ongoings, artists like to eat so ogns abound wouldn't be good, and with ongoings you get to double dip with floppies and trades
>>
>>85472527
I think literally only Deadpool and Iron Man saw true bumps. Everything else went immediately back to the normal sales for the #2.
>>
>>85472384
No, they just need to not lose much money. They can cancel and relauch quickly with a few thousands of dollars lost. They make millions in IP. It is nothing
>>
>>85472489
No because all the movies and shows distill all the ideas into a smaller form. You take decades of stories and pick out the good stuff.
>>
>>85472624
You don't seem to understand how the money actually works. They don't get any movie sales like that. It stays with the studio and parent company. The publishing stands on its own.
>>
>>85472765
These days IP is the most valuable thing you can have. The big tech companies are all about IP that translates to comics now. They are learning from bug tech companies
>>
>>85473025
That's still not how the cash flows work when it comes to comics. Only higher tier executives would see benefits from that. When you're talking the people who actually control the quality of ongoings like editors and talent scouting and shit they will lose their jobs if the comics are not selling well regardless of whether movies make money or not. They are not just putting out books to put out books, they need them to make money.
>>
>>85473025
>>85472624

Even though as of now (over halfway through the year) it's their best selling new series of 2016, it would still rank outside Image's 10 best selling new series of 2015.

well that's good news

Man, if this keeps up with August, then that's really exciting. Good on DC for getting it right this time.

>if this keeps up with August
Oh it'll be even better. Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn and All Star Batman. And Marlel doesn't have Civil War coming out.

>Don't try to get new audiences by fucking over your old one.

Is that what new 52 did? That's the whole reason for Rebirth.
>>
>>85483777
one of the reprints had the Hail Hydra on the cover, I might have gotten that just for laughs but I'm not buying shit until he stops being mean to Zemo

Superbro wasn't fucking boring, he was badly written. The new book has some nice moments, with the only problem being the way the wrote/drew (e.g. handled) the killing of the cat. Otherwise, it's a decent set up story for what is likely being forced on them by Berganza (e.g. Reign of Supermen) on all the writers for Action/Superman.

>All the Hanna Barbera books under 50
>Who knows if DC will see that as successful?

I didn't notice it until now but is Future Quest actually getting more orders than International Iron Man? I decided to go check the sales numbers on International...

International Iron Man 1 70,824
International Iron Man 2 40,459
International Iron Man 3 35,282
International Iron Man 4 28,998

Even ignoring the first issue, that's a fucking huge drop. It went below even the sales of Superior Iron Man. Is this just because it's redundant since Bendis is writing this and the main Iron Man title?
>>
>>85487932
They gotta have one book where they'll explain who are Tony's parents.
>>
>>85475075
lol no they haven't. I can't think of a single adaptation that has taken from only one "run"
>>
>>85473473
fuck you, ROM is great
>>
>>85487932

Well Future quest 3 sold better than Int Iron Man 5. That's pretty pathetic that a Johnny Quest book featuring BIRDMANNNNNN! can out sell an Iron Man book written by comics superstar Brian Michael Bendis
>>
>>85488041
Bendis' reputation has taken a hit already.
>>
>>85460047
does Marvel even care about their comics anymore?
