I feel like the Blockhead is an ideal mecha for Garnet. It's already bigger and beefier than other Combat Armors, it requires two pilots, and it has an upgrade which performs better in many respects as compared to the first.

So what's the endgame here? How do we get from the character's current state to them "winning" within the lifespan of the show?

The homeworld gems still have their empire intact, at least thousands if not millions of soldiers, and have become even more technologically advanced since the war according to Lapis, to the point where we saw the Laser Light Cannons not even scratch a current homeworld ship, the diamonds presumably still have the song-nuke at their disposal that wiped out the entirety of the crystal gems before (minus the main characters).

Meanwhile the CG have a total of 8 members as of now, no ships, and no chance.

The answer seems obvious. They were slowly making more diamonds, presumably because a single diamond can only handle so many planets before things get inefficient or dysfunctional. Looking at the number of planets, it started with White, then Yellow, then Blue, then Pink, and if things didn't go horribly wrong at that point they might've had a Red or Green by now.

It's still possible they could go back on it and say that, like, Pearl did it. Rose taking the blame as a way of declaring her rebellion. Also why the remaining diamonds fought so hard for the planet, corrupted every gem on it, and why Yellow Diamond is so willing to blow the thing up. Everything that came out of that planet was ruined. No future gem settlements because the place is corrupting in its own right.

It also means that Pearl inspired Rose, while Rose continued to inspire Pearl. Adding another layer to Pearl's deep thirst.

We don't know enough about the shortage to say whether Pink would've been hit by it or not. Maybe they just stopped finding planets and Pink would've had self-esteem issues over her tiny territory. Maybe Earth was supposed to be the staging point for expansion into the Milky Way and losing it cut off access to other viable worlds that would've belonged to her and future diamonds.

If he can just shout it out, that does a lot than the ongoing conflict of it turning inwardly on him and contributing to the burden he has to bear, being the current form of Rose Quartz. Especially with how so many people have been calling him that instead of Steven these days.

Plus there's the way in which they handled the reveal. Steven knows his mother killed Pink Diamond now, and he's got the endless expanse of space to let that sink in, with a Ruby who witnessed the killing for company. Turning that around when he gets back and showing that it was actually Pearl would be a cop-out after all that.

Also take into consideration that she's only had one drastic outfit change, and doesn't really care how she looks, plus she's defective. Heck the first time she came back without trying, she had a arms for legs. Or giant ears. I forgot.

If anything it takes longer for her to come back PROPERLY. A few seconds gets glitched parts, a few minutes gets the same thing (with a light color change) as opposed to Pearl and Garnet getting an entirely new outfit
