Bismuth face when she realizes that Steven could have remembered near the beginning.

>>
Rose didn't believe in shattering because her fundamental belief was that gems could change and grow like humans can. To shatter gems to win the war would be a contradiction in terms because that would mean Homeworld was right all along. Everyone is born to their station and can not change it. Especially for Rose since was born a soldier. To shatter would violating everything she's become.

Bismuth never saw that because she was a smith. Change is a natural part of her process. You change ore and metal into weapons and tools. She didn't have a revelation when Rose asked her what she wanted to make. She wasn't changed. She was transmuted. She was the same as she always was, but for a different end. She still made herself into a weapon, body and mind. Still a smith. Never stopped being a smith.

I actually liked Bismuth a lot more than I thought I would, she seemed really comfy.

Predictions were pretty spot on, though. It was obvious she did something bad in order to make Rose bubble her in secret, though the Breaking Point wasn't THAT bad. It implies a Gem's gem is extremely hard to break, which makes Lapis' story a little weird. It's possible Bismuth used a prototype Breaking Point on her, which weakened her gem, allowing something as simple as being stepped on to crack it.

Spanish Leaker was wrong as far back as Crack the Whip. There was never any leak, it was just trolling -- which (to be fair) was exactly what most people thought he was.

The "metal women" war leaker, the "Bismuth taking over the CGs" leaker, etc. All hoaxes just like every other leaker other than Based Dingo Our Lord And Savior -- in short, no one who is actually working with SU (or getting advanced screeners) is leaking anything. The ship is caulked tightly, and no actual real leaks are gonna be coming.

Rose's rebellion fought and CHOSE TO GIVE THEIR LIVES based on the ideals of change that Bismuth spouted about during this episode. Shattering Homeworld soldiers without giving them a chance would have gone completely against those ideals and made the rebellion pointless.

The part with Pearl's been pretty clear for a while.
Bismuth I feel is a bit different though. She did change at least somewhat.

Rose clearly wanted to be something else, hence her kind and caring nature.
But when it came down to it, she was still a soldier, and she could never really escape that.
Until Steven that is.

Because Steven, like Rose before him, stands by his convictions, and he doesn't hurt people if he can help it, because to him it's wrong.

Since the shrine was accessible only by way of three stairways,[6] a small number of guards could prevent non-priests from spying on the rituals at the shrine on top of the ziggurat, such as initiation rituals such as the Eleusinian mysteries, cooking of sacrificial food and burning of carcasses of sacrificial animals. Each ziggurat was part of a temple complex that included a courtyard, storage rooms, bathrooms, and living quarters, around which a city was built

It does have the benefit of skipping the poofing part all together, and you put this in the hands of good warriors and it's an instant kill. It's probably quite hard to shatter some gems (we didn't really see how jasper was going to break Amethyst)

But I do see your point. It's really hard to see this being a game changer.

Anon, I don't think you're quite understanding the sheer force here.
Like, they built it up a lot there, but you could have the Point charged before swinging.
If you did that, on connecting, you've basically confirmed the kill.

It seems pretty clear that normal quartz are a bitch to poof, while this just would rip through them.
>>
>>85153200
The episode implies a gem is super hard to break, even though Lapis' was apparently cracked by being stepped on and Jasper implied she could shatter Amethyst with her bare hands.

It's possible this is just an inconsistency for the sake of plot but it could also be that certain gems are harder to break than others. Lapis was poofed from one surprise attack, so it's possible her gem is similarly weak. And since Amethyst is defective it's also possible her gem is weaker than a normal one would be.

It's also possible the Breaking Point was designed to break through enemy weapons and armor as well as shatter the gem.

Allowing it to be known that there was a way for any gem to instantly shatter another would've divided the rebellion on wether they should use it when they were already out numbered and ill equiped. Rose chose not to reveal it to maintain order and to maintain the purity of Bismuth's memory for her comrades. Garnet and Pearl clearly agree bismuth should be bubbled because they didn't unbubble her after steven got back.
>>
>>85152917
While I wouldn't call Rose is PD dead, if it isn't true then do we really need a reason? It was a random, meaningless rebellion that happened to have the right set of circumstances to be something important.

its n netirely possible that 'corruption' had never been used before, or if it had, it had been used in cases where no one saw what happened.

>but the Breaking Point can cause shatter damage to a gem's projection

I don't think that's accurate, I think it just punches a huge fucking hole right through the enemy gem, without having to worry about poofing them first. The problem with this logic is that you'd think any standard weapon would be able to do this to the enemy's gem.

This episode also implies that the CGs didn't shatter their enemies no matter what, and this DOES line up with Lapis' story. She was caught in the middle of a battle and Bismuth, thinking she was a Homeworld Gem, poofed her and left her there.

>she believed in her and the rebellion
She never believed in the Rebellion.
Not like Rose did.
Bismuth didn't understand the point was to change gems. To free them from the confines of their created purpose.
Bismuth thought "Yeah, smash anyone who tells us what to do. " Then she'd go right back to doing what she was created to do. To be a smith. She resented being told, not being confined to a purpose. She never understood that.

Rose was afraid that there were more Crystal Gems like Bismuth. Those who fundamentally misunderstood the point of the rebellion.

That's why Rose loved Amethyst. She was the perfect example of Rose's philosophy. She was a Quartz but had no soldier in her. She didn't follow orders, she had interests outside of fighting, and the fact that she couldn't even fight that well was all the more reason for Rose to love her.
Rose never loved Pearl as much as Pearl loved Rose because Pearl never expanded beyond her "Pearlness", Like Rose and Amethyst did. Rose and Amethyst were born soldiers, but fighting was such a little part of them now.
What does Pearl do that isn't about serving? What hobbies does she have? Everything she does, she still does it for her. A master by any other name would smell as sweet.

They could easily bumrush the Homeworld forces with the Breaking Point, if with just poofing they were able to force the war into a stalemate. A weapon that can instantly, permanently kill any gem is beyond broken, it's fucking insane.

They likely could have pushed their forces back and hijacked Homeworld's navy fast enough to prevent the deployment of the Corruption Song, and from there it would be easy to spread the rebellion throughout other colonies.

I think that anon's point is that the Diamonds seemed to completely remove the Pink court/image from their history.
Like, their symbol during/after the war just flat out removed Pink entirely.

If PD was killed by Rose, this seems weird, unless they were like, ashamed that one of their own was taken out in such a way.
But if THEY killed PD for whatever reason, then them completely eradicating the Pink faction makes more sense.

She tried to kill Rose because Rose refused to use her permanent solution weapon. She wasn't bubbled because she thought up a brutal weapon, she was bubbled because when she presented it to her commander who refused to use it for ethical reasons, she attacked said commander. Later she got another chance and, again, tried to shatter Rose Quartz only because the current form of the gem doesn't want to use the permanent solution weapon because they find it too brutal and unethical, either.

I think that it's just easiest to not deal with Bismuth for a while. Yeah. Jasper has been shown to be basically indestructable. I mean she got thrown into the ship's power core, electrocuted by it shortly before it blew up with her touching it and having the whole ship come crashing to earth and then the ship blew up with her at the core of it.

She tanked all of that with no shield. Breaking point wielded by Bismuth would shatter Jasper in 1 punch.
>>
>>85152947
Didn't Amethyst get cracked after falling off a cliff onto a rock? I know that falling off a cliff is a big deal, but it demonstrates that you don't necessarily need a special weapon to break a gem. It just takes a lot of force.
>>
>>85153941
Nah, we have the technology to circumvent that. No way Homeworld doesn't.

But yeah, Rose probably took over after PD died. We know Rose was the leader of the rebellion, but we don't know if she was the original leader.

It wouldn't.
This was great BECAUSE of the limited time we usually get.

the 11 minutes usually is plenty for them to get things across, cause they're good at making things really dense.
This episode NEEDED more time, and the fact that it got it made it all the more special and better.

It's like if you find a new restaurant that makes something you really like really well that you usually don't get.
Then you end up going there a lot, and eventually that thing you really liked becomes meh at best.

The rebellion almost certainly started with the death of PD.
There needs to be a trigger for these kinds of things. A figurative breaking point (now that we have a literal one).

The current headcanon I'm sticking to is that PD was the one that changed Rose.
Like, Rose didn't become as she is just by chance, and instead was instilled with this sense of breaking free by her own Diamond, who was very kind and sympathetic.
Then, when PD's kind ways started to get in the way too much, YD or BD took her out.
This would be the perfect catalyst to push Rose into full on rebellion, as the symbol of a brighter future they could have was just snuffed out by the system she was actually part in charge of.

Would also explain why Rose's flag is of a Rose growing out of a Pink Diamond.

The other option is that Rose killed PD, but in that case we now need a new trigger to explain why she'd do that so suddenly and then start the rebellion.

Rose didn't have the heart to show her squad what happened to Bismuth because it would cause a massive tear in their faction and cause; a gem that was allegedly re-modeled still wants to shatter others? that would easily make a divide in her own ranks with the weak hearted
Steven can only do it because the war is over, and there's only 2 fighters left. Rose made the right call. But it wasn't easy.

Even if you aren't concerned with the ethical furball that is capital punishment, there is absolutely no reason to kill your prisoners when you have a prison system which is permanent, free, and inescapable unless someone releases them. This, the Breaking Point was about brutality, not effectiveness. It's like using a flamethrower in a battle, it's unnecessarily cruel and you could kill someone way easier with a single bullet. This is what tumblr doesn't understand.
>>
>>85152616
Rose was right because they wouldn't have been shattering the Diamonds, they'd have been shattering soldier gems who were created to obey and who never had a single choice in anything - just like Rose and Bismuth before they made the choice to join the rebellion.

Rose wanted to give the same choice to other gems, too. Bismuth wanted to just shatter them without ever offering them a chance to open their eyes, the same chance she herself had been given.

She also wanted to shatter Rose when she opposed the mindless shattering.

Rose became "self-conscient" and began to develop these rock type-independent thoughts. She was somehow related to PD and convinced to become her own gem too. By that time, the Rose way of life was too extended and the rebellion was just the next logical step after the most liberal diamond demise

Given what bismuth said, if its to be believed Rose somehow managed to obtain her own independance. Now it could very well be, given that Rose went to PD to talk things out, but, the only one she managed to convince was pearl who defended her when she was attacked by PD's guards and they either managed to poof PD OR, that was the first and last time Rose shattered a gem. Although with the way Pearl acts towards rose its entirely possible that Rose freed her some other way.

I hated Hellen, don't think I didn't. I knew something was wrong with her boarding ever since Monster Buddies. The thing is though she didn't handle episodes that were supposed to be big very often. Even when she did, it was low animation episodes like The Message. This was Amethyst vs Jasper and then Stevonnie finally being shown in combat and a freakin jousting match between her riding lion and Jasper riding a corrupted Jasper. Somehow they made it look really lame and disappointing with really awkward timing between frames constantly.
>Those awkwardly impactless rapid punches from Jasper
>That completely flat shot of Jasper repeatedly running over Amethyst that made up most of the hits
>That weird flip Stevonnie did when first appearing
>That stupidly long time Jasper just stands there holding the shield waiting to be hit
I like Raven and Paul episodes, but don't put them in charge of an action scene ever again. The 10 seconds of Jasper beating up corrupted Jasper last episode was more exciting and stood as a better fight than the big fight to follow it.

Yeah, this new "gems must be really hard to shatter unless they're poofed" thing is the kind of thing first-gen trekkies were notorious for. Let a few years pass and you'll all accept that it was a decision that made no sense considering the information that was available at the time.

The analogy assumes it's a standard situation where a bullet would be equally effective as a flamethrower. Obviously flamethrowers did have certain advantages but the Breaking Point doesn't. Bismuth was right about Homeworld not letting gems live up to their potential. If you don't fit the mold you were made for then you might as well be shattered to them.

>>
>>85153589
Well, logically it makes sense to bubble her and not tell the others because not everyone is gonna agree with Rose over Bism and it would cause a clear divide and in fighting when they were already out gunned and out numbered.

BUT that excuse wasn't for the shake of her memory being honored, it was to keep everyone in line with her way of thinking and keep the CGs together. That all falls apart when there's only Rose, Pearl and Garnet left and she still goes 1000s of years not talking about what happened and not unbubbling her.

She wouldn't have been shattering diamonds you dingus, they would have been shattering soldier gems who have never had a single choice about anything in their lives, just like Rose herself was. That's the entire point, Rose wanted to give gems a choice. Shattering them before they're given that choice just follows the old HW logic of "you are what you were made for, never any choice, never any change or development", just shattering the gems that the diamonds had built to be shattered

Yeah, i think this show functions more on a symbolical plane than a physically logical one. It's a representation of a terrible weapon that comes and dissapears in this episode just for the sake of showing bismuth's character. So as long as you understand that bismuth made a terrible weapon, it doesn't matter what it actually was.

>shattering gems and diamonds is the answer.

Homeworld gems were just following orders, shattering their gems would be unfair. I think it was also clearly pointed out this episode on how Bismuth said she was just creating weapons and spires or whatever she's made to do before.

Honestly, it's the perfect reason why Rose didn't approve the weapon, together with the "we become like them" reason.

The bubbling part is what I don't understand though. I'm not gonna take the "other gems might agree with her", that's a bullshit reason, for me at least.

If I have to guess, I'd say that this the way of how the show tells that Rose Quartz wasn't really perfect. That after all, she is still just a gem.

Look how Steven handled the situation unlike Rose, "ill tell everybody". Steven might be a kid but he has an idea of what to do and what to say. Gem + Human = Perfection

She was clearly meant to be a representation of the uglier side of revolution. Her focus was not on defending the world or protecting the innocent, but directly harming those she perceived as responsible

It's the equivalent of a civil rights leader saying "The black community is suffering. We need to lower black on black violence, encourage education, and improve our quality of living from within" and some shrieking BLM nigger saying "The black community is suffering. White people are responsible for this. Go shoot a cop."
>>
>>85154799
In theory, maybe, but in reality she wanted to shatter the grunt gems like Centi or Rose or Peridot who were just doing what they were created to do, before they'd been offered a chance to think for themselves.

Come on they'd have used the Breaking point in battle, against the grunt Quartz soldiers, not against the diamonds.

Well but the issue is that what the Diamonds did to planets basically purged all future life on them.
That was Rose's issue. When she started talking about being more than what you were made for, that was an external policy position, adopted after the rebellion.
Evidently, Bismuth joined for that reason alone. Where Rose fought to protect life, Bismuth and others probably fought to protect their own interests and happiness.

Hence, why Steven is liable to be the true final weapon: A human who can fuse so that he changes the Diamonds' perspectives on humanity and other creatures by exposing them to what it's like to be human.

It's not about BEATING the Diamonds but redeeming them. How do you redeem a perfect creature? Expose it to the beauty of imperfection and growth

For fuck's sake.

She created an effective weapon to shatter grunt gems before they're given a choice to choose freedom and peace. Rose said no because this went against everything she stood for. Bismuth tried to shatter Rose for that.

Once unbubbled and among the CG again, Bismuth herself says she's got a "second chance". She could, if she wanted to, rethink her actions.

But instead, she tries to shatter Rose Quartz again when Steven also refuses to use the weapon because it goes against what he believes in.

She tried to shatter Rose twice in a murderous rage just because she/he didn't want to use unethical force. She got a second chance and still chose to try to SHATTER Rose again just because s/he didn't choose violence.

>all emblems of ROSE'S REBELLION involve a pink gem with the Diamonds' typical triangular cut but with the same color as a rose quartz gem
>Lots of memorabilia of the rebellion including Rose's sword feature similar designs
>Rose's very shield shows the emblem of the supposed Pink Diamond

Either there have always been three diamonds and Pink Diamond is simply a title given to Rose for having taken the place of a leader/ruler in the time of rebellion, or, in fact, I might just be wrong and there ARE four diamonds.

There's always the theory that Lion is PD.

Well they'd have to get there first
Which I guess they can do, since somehow Rose and Pearl got the drop on Blue Diamond at one point.

Either way, if they broke the diamonds it's not like society would shake for the better. It's not like Rose could have used the power of friendly conversation to calm all the higher ranking gems that would try and fill the power gap left by a bunch of dead diamonds.

It's been stated countless times in the show that THE WAR WAS LOST

The war was over and the crystal gems lost

Now with that out of the way.....

Steven Universe is about recovering from defeat and seeking peace. After losing the war,Homeworld decided to implant what was essentially a nuclear device within earth and had a timer on it,and without Peridot's knowledge of the cluster everyone would've been dead

It's like if America had planted a giant nuclear weapon a few miles beneath Germany and had it timed to detonate in the year 2020.Nowadays Germany is a peaceful nation that has gone through tons of introspection and has clearly lamented their previous transgressions. However America would still like to colonize Germany and make them pay as though they were still in a war, when all that Germany wants to do is eat chocolate, drink beer, and fug.

Homeworld is America
SU is Germany
and Bismuth is the singular radical that is still holding on to the ideas of the past without realizing how far they've come

Are you just smacking the keyboard with your head? Homeworld was trying to evacuate so quickly they didn't even bother to save a good number of their own people. Pretty much every battle we've heard described had the Crystal Gems winning. There were thousands of Gems remaining on Earth.

Homeworld got their asses handed to them.

Yeah, exactly. She has a very classic sound, and that accent and nasal aspect of her voice contributes to it.
>>
>>85155343
It's not that Bismuth CAN'T change, it's just that her ideals run directly against Steven's, and she was willing to kill him in order to prove she was right. She's just a little too violent. >>
>>85152359
No, I'm still not big on her colour pallete, but I really like her. We all saw the plot coming a mile away but how it was done was amazing. The forge was awesome - it was badass when she had a quick LAVA shower and shapeshifting to use the locks and keys is such a great idea.

I'm a wussy Lawful Good like Steven so I didn't agree with the "Breaking Point," and I thought my caring about her would end there. But when it showed that Bismuth was crushed that Rose didn't even tell the truth about her, and realising in hindsight her reaction to the loss of her other friends hit me right in the heart. It was a fantastic scene and I wouldn't have done anything to change it.

Also while I'd seen Bismuth in leaks, I made sure to avoid hearing her voice at all until I watched the ep. I didn't think I'd get used to it at first, but I did and holy shit Uzo Aduba did an amazing job as her. Like the other SU characters I can't imagine Bismuth being voiced by anyone else, ever.

And I think I know what inspired her arms.

Except that's not how reality works.

When you kill a despot, things just don't magically become sunshine and rainbows. Best case scenario, another tyrant takes their place to keep the status quo. Worst case, you flounder trying to get things into a salvageable state only to have the entire system collapse, leading to the death and suffering of everyone you were trying to "free."

They're aiming not to have Steven be the conqueror king, but to be Henry bloody Kissinger. He'll save Gemkind by convincing the Diamonds peaceful changes in policy will be better for the Gempire as a whole.

Image limit has been reached, so I'm going to selectively quote what my image would've said
The fact that every single attempt to establish communism has led to dictatorships and millions of deaths just proves we need to try harder. Maybe after killing another million, we'll get it right. For a hundred years, Communism has been tested and failed time after time. It failed to create a free society. It failed to create a fair and just society. It failed to create a society where power lay in the hands of the many.
It succeeded in killing tens of millions. It succeeded in destroying all liberty in the societies where it was implemented. It succeeded in creating poverty on a scale unimaginable in a non-communist country.
And yet, despite the ocean of blood their doctrine has spilled, communists believe the solution is more communism.
Communism has failed.
Capitalism has won.
Capitalism made men free and rich.
Communism made them slaves or it made them dead.

You don't have to cripple the tank's engine or get it stuck in the mud. Now you can just pierce the armor and kill everyone inside instantly.

You can't pull the "no true Scotmans" arugment when there are strict definitions for the thing in question.
You can't say "Uh, no true frogs" when someone says a cat is not a frog.

Communist governments often turn to autocracy because some people are exploitative.
There are many reasons why, but that's the bottom line.

Some people are willing to exploit the faith of the people in the state.

Communism doesn't dictate that as a necessary.

He doesn't have the tools to rehabilitate her right now.

He needs more time and experience fighting the war to know what it is he's fighting for, and what the costs are.

As it is, his only reason for fighting right now is to save his own skin, and that of his friends.
He hasn't begun to fight for himself yet.

He can't confront her on equal ideological grounds, and he won't shatter her, so his only choice right now is to bubble her.

But the entire point of bubbling is to unbubble them eventually.

I'm expecting at some point they might give the forge to Peridot so she could use it to build new weapons. It seems Bismuth was able to open it with some metal power, so Peridot should be able to do the same

It's just all the alignment reinterpretations have made the system a mess over the years. I just stick to the older definition that neutral combined with an alignment is the true version of the alignment. Lawful Neutral is nothing but Lawful and nothing distracts it from being lawful. Neutral Good is nothing but Good, and seeks only to do Good. Neutral Evil seeks nothing but doing Evil. And so on and so forth.

That is the problem. What the ideology dictates is one thing, and what is actually put in practice by actual people (fallible people) is something else entirely. Maybe something resembling the fabled Communist Utopia exists somewhere, but I am certain that those are not humans behind it.
>>
>>85153855
not really. Take into consideration the fact that poofed gems are bubbled and instantly transported back behind the front lines where they remain bubbled indefinitely. Being poofed removes enemy soldiers from the war just as effectively as shattering them

Same reason he hates Jasper for hurting him and his friends but not Peridot who did the same. Steven is a hypocrite.

I'd guess they're being phased out mostly in favor of super tech but there are still likely one or two running around. Mostly to do repairs on the old stuff

Why people like that theory so much? It makes no sense. Bismuth is a physically imposing, lava bathing, shape shifting blacksmith who literally turns her arms into hammers. Peridot is the gem equivalent of a maintainence worker, she was barely equipped to do shit even with her limb enhancers and her original position was to oversee kindergartens. Just because she can levitate tablets and barely move spoons doesnt mean she is suddenly going to become a master blacksmith.

This. The last thing Rose needed at such a crucial point in the war was a civil war within the revolution. It would have split their ranks and left them incredibly weak in the face of the overwhelming Homeworld forces. Had she either let Bismuth go or told them about what she's done a schism would have been guaranteed, given how she almost equaled Rose in strength and popularity amongst the soldiers.

As for why Bismuth was still bubbled thousands of years after the war was over, Rose didn't want her comrades to know how far she'd strayed from their original ideal. She felt that, at the very least, she would preserve Bismuth's character in their minds.

If people start adding all kinds of baggage onto the definition of a word, then we can't really talk clearly.

Saying someone is communist or Marxist doesn't mean they support a totalitarian regime.
Yes, most if not all communist governments have become dictator led, but it doesn't mean that someone's ideals when described as "communist" supports that type of leadership.

I wonder how much more of Rose's secrets will be revealed during the course of the show. And I hope we'll get to see Bismuth again, her response to Steven just before she got poofed again implies she accepts him as a better person than Rose.

Thank you. For all of those thousands of years before she met Greg, it's very likely that nobody had ever treated her as an equal before. I mean, Greg actually ASKED her to respect him a little more. I bet Pearl would've let Rose step all over her if she wanted to and wouldn't have protested. At least Rose tried to convince Pearl she was important on her own, but Pearl still worshipped her.

I love all three characters, not hatin' just sayin'.

No it's not. Bubbling is stasis. It's not even a real punishment unless you're never unbubbled.
>>

>having a black-coded gem be more violent and extreme kinda strikes me as wrong

What are Garnet and Amethyst?
>>
>>85156689

Not important. What matters is that Rose told them Bismuth disappeared, and yet it turned out her Gem was bubbled away in a secret area.

That should've raised some red flags for both Garnet and Pearl, but I guess they were just overjoyed to see their old comrade again to think about it.
>>
>>85156501
>The entire point is that at this time, they can't fix Bismuth.
THEY DIDN'T TRY. They said fuck her and tossed her up in a bubble.
>What solution do you proscribe?
Fucking talk to her. How about some emotional support? How about a little "Hey, we're your friends and we know what you've been through. We don't agree but we're all here for you". How about a little logic? "We all care about letting gems make choices for themselves but if you shatter them you'll take that away forever." "Here are are a couple of homeworld gems that decided to live on Earth just like us. Wouldn't have been a shame to shatter them?"
There's no fucking point in waiting another 5000 years to do that.
>>
>>85156756
Amy is a beaner, possibly white trash.
>>
>>85156633
>"Rose Quartz being Pink Diamond has been officially debunked"

We can't trust anything anyone says about Rose, especially the other gems. Greg's our most trustworthy source. Anything else we can't put our full trust in until we see it explicitly in a flashback from when Rose was alive.
>>
>>85156483

They know shit all about Lion. Even Pearl couldn't connect it to Rose. Even we don't know if Rose owned it, it just has Rose's shit inside of it.

Rose a shit though.
>"We're at war but we cant kill anyone because we're better than that"

>because the gem WMD was dropped Rose lost all her allies
>still frolics on the beach with Greg, completely ignoring the guilt placed squarely on her shoulders because she's surrounded by yesmen
>>
>>85156790
Who says they're gonna wait 5000 years? The bitch just tried to kill Steven, how about wait for a bit before we let her out again? When Steven is ready? And they don't have to worry about Jasper and Homeworld?
>>
>>85156790
Honestly, we don't know their life span, maybe 5000 years is insignificant and Rose was still thinking about it.
>>
i swear to fucking god if garnet amethyst and pearl never use the things bismuth made for their weapons ever again im shitting myself
>>
>Amethyst cheats at poker and still gets her shit handed to her by Garnet
Why does she even try?
>>
>>85153485
That makes sense considering Homworld's very strict caste system. Jaspers work with Jaspers, Rubies work with Rubies. Mixed units probably aren't a thing on Homeworld.
>>
>>85153967

>>
>>85156875
>implying shattering is more effective than poofing and bubbling
>implying it was ever a factor
>implying she had the capability to bring the fight to Homeworld
>implying the corruptioning was her fault
>implying she should blame herself for other people's actions
>>
>>85156790
>"We don't agree but we're all here for you"

That's exactly what Steven tried, and Bismuth thought he was Rose until the very end.

If her response to "Rose" disagreeing was attempted murder, TWICE, Pearl and Garnet wouldn't have been able to convince her.
>>
>>85155852
The meaning behind a work of art is not determined by the creators intentions, but by the observers reaction to it.
>>
>>85156909
Steven seems pretty used to people trying to kill him by now.

>>85156911
>and Rose was still thinking about it
Not if she told everyone Bismuth was captured and hadn't brought it up again in a few millennia.
>>
>>85156871

Missing the point, bro. Rose claimed that Bismuth up and vanished, and yet she showed up bubbled after 5000 years. It would make at least Garnet wonder how it happened.
>>
>>85156971
Because she's also stupid enough to play the game with a person who has a perfect poker face on 90% of the time and can see the future.
>>
>>85156875
I just said Greg wasn't a yesman though.
I wouldn't say Rose a shit. Keep in mind that HW had more resources and gems that only increased in numbers. You can argue "why didn't she kill" all you want (she likely had to out of self-defense in the heat of battle more than once anyway), and maybe it would've been easier to win, but I don't think the CGs would've won by typical means if they tried that. I think if they all fought to kill they would've had a greater chance of everyone getting captured.
>>
>>85157011
>TWICE
When she unbubbled her mind was still a moments off of her fight with Rose. She never had the opportunity to rethink things.

>Pearl and Garnet wouldn't have been able to convince her.
You don't know that. They didn't try.
>>
>>85156633
Pearl says "and it looks like Rose protected you too." It is odd that she and Garnet don't question it more, but I guess they may have assumed that Rose was protecting Bismuth, and I guess they thought something must have gone wrong to separate her from the other CGs. They seemed too happy to have an old comrade back to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Come to think, did Steven mention that Bismuth had been bubbled or did he just say to them "there's a gem in lion's mane."
>>
>>85154607

>>
>>85157019
And what could the outcome of that be? They don't know who owned Lion.
>>
>>85156875
>still frolics on the beach with Greg, completely ignoring the guilt placed squarely on her shoulders because she's surrounded by yesmen
We've only seen a glimpse of it in "We Need To Talk" but you know she's carrying that weight. The revelations from Bismuth only expand on what I imagine will be a massive exposition dump on the events of the war.
>>
>>85152874
I think Rorschach puts it perfectly for both of them
"Never compromise, not even in the face of Armageddon"
Rose didn't want to compromise her beliefs of change and life.
Bismuth didn't want to change her belief that Homeworld is evil and NEEDS to be stopped.
There isn't a "right" answer, as both had valid points. Rose not telling anyone I hope will be brought up in a later episode, furthering the mystery of who Rose Quartz actually is.

>tl;dr no one did anything wrong, just what they belived
>>
>>85157003
>poof and bubble 5000 footsoldiers
>stash them somewhere
>engage enemy force
>while youre distracted a stealth detachment breaches your base and frees all 5000 of the footsoldiers you captured

>Homeworld ships capable of interstellar travel
>Rose's forces never once commandeer one despite having a superior fighting force

>Rose keeps the conflict isolated to Earth, away from the Diamonds
>Diamonds drop a nuke somewhere that will never affect them
>All gems, Homeworld AND Crytal Gem, are shattered or corrupted because Rose never took the fight somewhere the Diamonds wouldn't nuke
>implying that doesnt make it her fault

>>85157138
>but you know she's carrying that weight
clearly not enough if she just abandons everything she fought for because MUH HUMANS
>>
>>85156301

Roses sword seems to be just as good though.

Maybe not touch to poof but still a 1HKO
>>
>>85157068
>When she unbubbled her mind was still a moments off of her fight with Rose. She never had the opportunity to rethink things.
About that. How stupid was it to try something that got you poofed not a day after it happened from your perspective. And under the same circumstances no less. If she took Garnet and Pearl with her, they might have been on her side and outvoted Steven.
>>
>>85157151
But Rorschach was an idiot who's beliefs got him killed.
>>
>>85157226

Oh yeah, that skin colour is much nicer. The hot pink sticks out a little too much now, though. In canon a gem's skin colour has to be a colour her gem can be, so I guess I can understand why she's blue now. It's just not a very niceshade of blue, and the black is so harsh.

But maybe ... that was the point of her design. A big, brightly coloured new character, the old friend who seems to make everything better for everyone. It's like a red flag.

I just realised Bismuth's gem looks like a litle TV. Heh.
>>
>>85157214
Literally everyone on her side was a turncoat. Want to try and guess where she gets new recruits if she decided against draining Earth any further?
>>
>>85157214
She didn't abandon everything she fought for. They won the war but with significant casualties. There was literally nothing else to do after that. What else was she supposed to do, wallow in depression for millennia? She wanted to learn as much as possible about the species she saved from extinction.
>>
>>85157294
a) That was after she tried to murder Steven.
b) She wasn't there to argue or tell her side of the story.
>>
>>85153824

>>
>>85157280
Never said it was a good philosophy
Would the Point Breaker beat the corruption nuke?
>>
>>85157330
>go to Homeworld
>access to entire gem populace
>no risk of nuke

>stay on Earth
>limited selection of gem soldiers that were willing to fight and die for their leaders
>risk of nuke because Diamonds don't care what happens to Earth
Im having trouble wrapping my head around how people can think the nuke wasn't Rose's fault.
>>
>>85152333
Steven is the only one who might piece that together, and he has no real reason to do anyway.
>>
>>85154770
Me too.
>>
>>85152333
Nice headcanon.
>>
>>85157451
Probably not. It would just cause Homeworld to use the nuke sooner and with more prejudice.
>>
>>85157517

>>
>>85154491
Maybe he finally learned that some gems are beyond saving now?
>>
>>85157791
He learned that lesson with Kevin.
>>
But that Breaking Point is really not that easyto use in a fight because an enemy should stay motionless for some time. What the hell, it seems much less efficient than sword.
>>

>>
>>85157865

>shooting stars
Let me refer you this song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0C3Q6Gcb84

This FUCKING SONG is important I swear to god.
>haven't you noticed im a star
>I'm coming into view at the world is turning
>haven't you noticed i made it this far
>now everyone can see me burning

This seems WAY to ominous to not be noticed. From what we know, homeworld is represented by a collection of stars, they are seemingly far away needing light speed travel to get to earth, and when the CG's defeat homeworld it's gonna cause a lot of shit.

I dunno niggas, this song coupled with the shooting stars in recent episodes just seems way to ominous to pass up.
>>
>>85157860
>Kevin
>Gem
What? Even if I didn't specify gem, they made Steven really OOC that episode.

>>85157896
You think? Thanks to that pep talk with Bismuth, he'll probably try and make Jasper see that she can do more than just fight.
>>
>>85157996
Like begging on her knees, being super retarded, showing off?
It will be really cruel to degrade her even more, however I'm afraid it's exactly what is going to happen: silly good Jasper, crying Jasper, singing Jasper, Jasper making friends with her enemies like CG and Lapis, Jasper being even more lame and miserable than now.
Really, they better shatter her than humiliate that much.
>>
>>85157904
Then why she demonstrated it like a weapon for fight?
>>
>>85158252
I really hope they keep jasper as a villain like she was in the last episode. Absolutely brutal and totally merciless.
>>
Something interesting was confirmed in this episode; that Rose wasn't special in any way, just another Gem. I think that was up in the air until now, makes you wonder if there are other Rose's out there.
>>
>>85157904
>>85158331
>>85157865
I think was mean to be used by someone like Rose Quartz, who can get in close and just deliver a god-like punch to the gem, with it acting as a massive shattering follow-up.
>>
>>85158252
>Like begging on her knees, being super retarded, showing off
Japser is my favorite
>>
Maybe the idea of the Breaking Point was to easily assassinate higher up Gems, maybe even the Diamonds. It would certainly make that much easier.
>>
>>85158339
I never really considered until Bismuth brought it up that Rose was probably made in a Kindergarten like every other quartz, which could provide an interesting perspective on whether or not Rose struggled with her existence like Amethyst did.
>>
>>85152267
did the episode already air or is this a leak? Also is there another episode tomorrow or was this the last one?
