>ANOTHER FRESH REVIEW PART 2.
>IN THEATHERS AUGUST 8
>>
>>85082793
Are people surprised? The trailers and clips were horrendous.
>>
>>85082793
Who cares? If BvS has taught us anything, it's that Disney just pays off all the reviews to trash the movie.
>>
What's wrong with it?
>>
>>85082793
just wait until just before WW comes out. the cycle continues.

the executives at WB/DC are shitting their pants. There's only so much leeway the audiences can give them before they abandon them. So far the DC movie universe consists of two (soon to be three) middling to bad films.

and yet fanboys will line up for Justice League Part 1: by visionary director Zach Snyder.
>>
It's one, two, three strikes you're out.
>>
>>85082906
Ahh, these guys are like the first birds of spring, signaling the release of another DC movie.
>>

Anon, Suicide Squad is going to be absolute kino that you should make sure you go to see at both the midnight release and opening night. Trust me, this is one you're going to want to see multiple times, it's THAT good.
>>
>>85082955
>Just don't give em to Sony.
Listen, WB clearly doesn't know what the fuck it's doing, but lets not say things we can't take back, alright?
>>
WB just might sell DC at this point.
>>

It got caught right in the middle of the turnaround from dark and gritty to a lighter tone for DC movies.

Not suprised it came out like this.
>>

I'm really sad.

I wanted DC to get at least one good movie so they'd stop clinging so hard to Zack Snyder's garbage. If Suicide Squad were at least decent, maybe some people could stop lying to themselves about how much they loved BvS and how brilliant it was.

Now they've just got more trash to defend.

Yeah. if anything needed to be an R rated movie like Deadpool. It was Suicide Squad, since for bad guys they act way too tame and cartoony to be really the psychos they need to be. I want to see Joker acid someone's face off and Croc dining on some poor bastards organs. And it needs to be graphic violent to suit the characters like in the cartoon movie but even more so. This should have been like an action horror movie.

It's pretty obvious that it's going to keep climbing and the rottens were just salty marvelshills that just happened to get their reviews out the door first in order to make things look worse than they actually are since its pretty obvious at this point that you can't trust rt reviews because they're almost all paid off by disney I for one already bought 3 sets of tickets so I can marathon it and I think you should too don't let the shills bring you down man this movie is going to be amazing I can already tell dude lol.

Tsujihara is gonna be out by the end of WB's fiscal year. Since coming in Jan. 2013, he has not had the blockbusters to pair with some good Oscar years. Also, the lack of animation when Disney and Universal's Illumination are kicking ass is disappointing when you're sitting on fucking Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbara. At least they're starting that up next year.

WB will meet the bare minimum of the Snyders' contract. If that means needing to complete JL 2 with them, then that's it. Nothing else is gonna be added until after JL 1's release.

>>85083684
But you see, apparently this movie's problem isn't tone. From what i've gathered it's just bland despite the premise. They had this squad of weirdos, Joker, Will Smith, maybe Batman, and best they could think of was "they're dick at first but then zombies come so they fight the witch and save the day" ? I've also read the CG is kinda bad here and there, so even the action isn't spectacular. Characters like Katana barely do anything. Joker barely does anything despite the preminence in trailers

Basically this is giving me Apocalypse vibes, the movie isn't BAD, but does enough mis-steps to not be actually good. At least it won't have stuff as retarded like "i forgive you Eric for killing millions of people" i guess

Ghostbusters was one of those "too important to fail" situations. What could those hacks do after spending months defending it just for existing? Animated, almost direct-to-tv movies don't really gather a lot of attention. Same with TV shows that only evaluate the first couple of episodes. That's where Metacritic shines. Killing joke still got shitty because people were expecting the animation to be better than what they showed (the old "unfinished" argument). It's not

>>85083927
The first watch met expectations though. And it still got a lower score than usual, but every character got served and the story at least made sense. Things progressed in character, even is a couple of times the characters were just different Tony Starks. You still had good moments in the first (Party scene, intro) and third (the last fight, Vision) acts.

It's not an exact science, I'm just trying to tell you how to approach it for a better, yet not perfect, read on the tomatometer.

That movie getting anything above 20% just goes to show that critics can be paid by anyone

While I can accept SS being bad, I think this raises another issue:

While Marvel isn't paying for better reviews, critics are basically expecting superhero movies to be carbon copies of Marvel. (aka the effective gold standard of the industry to critics)

This could get REALLY shitty in the future as the MCU develops. AOU was incredibly dull and uninspired and that could easily spread like a cancer to the rest.

It retains the already established dark tone of its predecessors while injecting some much-needed moments of humor and humanity. I disagree. SS problem is (apparently) that it's trying too hard to be Marvel, and BvS was trying too hard to not be Marvel, and it shows.

DC should just try to do their own thing, regardless of what Marvel is doing. Trying to dodge/imitate it only makes them look bad.

There is that but there is also the fact that for some reason they are taking into account more SJW critics reviews than regular critics reviews.

Inconsistent tone is a legitimate criticism. Imagine if you had a fairly realistic crime drama that was peppered with slapstick humor. It would be seen as jarring and detract from the overall movie experience.

It's possible they tried to add humor where there wasn't any before. Or maybe the humor was always there, and those reshoots were for something else. We won't know for sure until well after the release of the movie.

>>85084107
RT isn't going anywhere. It's not unusual for a film to have a Rotten critic score and a Fresh audience score, or vice versa. It's happened before, and it will happen again.

The "don't listen to critics" mantra has existed long before RT was even a thing.

>But the evil is never properly defined and, worse, isn’t personified in a way to balance the firepower of the opposition. In a fuzzy and hokey manner that encourages immediate viewer check-out, unlimited malevolence is made to reside in an ancient witch goddess whose physical heart literally is held by Waller and whose horrific spirit insinuates itself into a modern archeologist (played by Cara Delevingne); the latter’s boyfriend is Kinnaman’s Col. Flag, the guy who just happens to be in charge of the criminal team. Why anyone thought this creaky narrative line was a good idea for a wannabe-edgy superhero action piece is unfathomable. Not at all. I think if that happened though, Johns would get back to focusing primarily on comics, while DC Films was handled by Disney. I blame Marvel's current comic situation on the asshats running publishing, not Disney. I am of the opinion that if Disney bought DC, it would not be the case, because despite personnel issues, I believe that DC has people running it who would act to preserve the integrity of the comics division more so than those running Marvel who just want it to be an extension of their movies and/or cheaply cater to Tumblr and Reddit.

If anything that ''action'' scene was the lowest point of the movie with thowse terrible Scooby Doo looking ghosts.

And instead of capturing ghosts, they just kill them! no explanations! Bravo Feig!

I don't believe there's some conspiracy that Marvel are paying reviewers to slate DC movies. I thought both MoS and BvS were pretty bad and their poor reviews did not surprise me at all. Suicide Squad could be ass too, I don't know as I haven't seen it.

But at the same time, there's a lot of Marvel movies which in my opinion are boring cookie-cutter trash that have astronomically high scores. I mean Age of Ultron, Thor 2, Iron Man 2 and X-men Apocalypse are all awful. Yet only one of those, has a rotten score on RT. Are people too afraid to give Disney Marvel movies bad reviews after TDKR fiasco, because I can't understand why some of these reviews are so high?

I was a hardcore Venom fan in the 90's. Venom became so popular they shoved him in everything, quality dropped and people got sick of him, so they killed him off and replaced him with a string of successors. Eddie Brock Venom is gone forever.

RT's reviewers have to meet the criteria on this page in order to be included in scores:

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/help_desk/critics

>Online publications must achieve and maintain a minimum 500,000 unique monthly visitors according to comScore, Inc or Nielsen Net Ratings and reviews must have an average length of at least 300 words. Publications must also show a consistent standard of professionalism, writing quality, and editorial integrity across all reviews and articles. Lastly, site design and layout should also reflect a reasonable level of quality and must have a domain name specific to the property.

They are not included in RT scores because, unsurprisingly for a hobby that has fewer than 1,000,000 readers in the US, they don't meet the minimum unique monthly visitors requirement.

You can listen to them if you want, but they don't speak to or for a large number of people.

Retard spotted.

And Tony Stark was funny back in 2008. RDJ is the main reason why Iron Man became popular in the first place, then /co/ started hating on it because normalfags loved him and when everybody thought they would keep doing the predictable quippy man Civil War happens and puts him to suffer revitalizing the character in question.

This is a guy I generally trust the opinion of:
https://them0vieblog.com/2016/08/02/non-review-review-suicide-squad/

>Suicide Squad is a mess. Like many contemporary blockbusters, it is overplotted and convoluted. For a film with a (relatively) straightforward story and an impressively large ensemble, Suicide Squad twists and turns in a way that makes it impossible to pin down.

>At the same time, there is a certain charm to the film [...] That energy does not make up for the movie’s shortcomings, but couple with David Ayer’s sense of momentum, it helps to keep the train from coming off the rails for most of the movie’s two-hour runtime.

>It seems quite likely that Suicide Squad was heavily edited before its release.

still showing 37% and 30 reviews here, but it's probably weighted regionally, so the closer you are to a reviewer who gave it a good score "the more likely you are to like it"

it's also worth understanding that at this stage it would need to consistently place above-average scores with every outlet to drag it back up significantly above 50%, and every low score it gets will make it that much harder to raise

Not in the sense of a Marvel Studios production. It's not just that it's not MCU; they literally had no input into those movies, it was all done by Columbia Sony.

The use of the logo and everything else is just what it said they'd do in the contracts when the rights were sold off. There are different criteria for critics online and in print publications, reflecting the reach of all types of reviewers; Top Critics are those who are at least three times as popular as the minimum criteria for inclusion as an RT critic. They're all (top or not) required to produce a hundred reviews a year, etc etc.

For print, they only actually look at the circulation, not the numbers of people who buy newspapers for movie reviews - but even national newspapers might now only be qualifying as online publications anyway.

There's no 100% satisfying way of doing it, but RT's criteria for inclusion are fairly solid.

You can usually predict it from the first 15%, but it can depend on what day of the week something releases (as print reviewers may be more influential on weekends).

Most don't ever come close to 300 reviews, but this one will probably get up there.

Wait that score doesn't make sense.
It says there the average score is 5.3/10
And out of 28 reviews 11 are fresh (meaning about 39% of reviews are fresh)
So how do they figure out the showing score of 37%?

Or is this just a case of it taking its time to update and show the new 53% or 39% score???

And yet marvel prints money with each new installment. Normies get hyped about every new release. First of all, thank you very much Zack Snyder. Everything started with you.

I will probably enjoy SUICIDE SQUAD once I see it, because the concept is appealing enough to me, the characters seem fun and even if actually turns out to be bad it'll have some cool moments. My little brother will probably too, but that'll be after I pirate the BDrip, only a retard would give money to a dying franchise.

Meanwhile, my little kids, I will shitpost the hardest I can and probably make a couple of hard autist angry for no reason, while they drop tears over fictional characters. Why? Because that's the only use you can give to these worthless, garbage and craptastic pieces of shit you stupidly call "threads".
>>

Wait why would you score by average of reviewer numbers instead of average of all scores?
That could mean a movie could walk the line of 5/10 reviews and 7/10 reviews but instead of the score showing somewhere in high 5 or mid 6 it shows it at 85% or 20% because more scores of 5 or more scores of 7, right?

People salty about the treatment Marvel gets from critics don't understand goodwill or how it shapes opinions.

TDKR and AoU are both examples of movies that when they first came out were just considered mild disappointments. Both are actually worse than their initial critical reception, but people went easy on them at the time because they had goodwill toward their respective series for delivering better installments before.

Suicide Squad has no goodwill going in. Neither did BvS. If you count TDKR, DC now has four flops in a row. They're not going to get the same treatment as Marvel because they've done nothing to earn it. Even one good movie at this point isn't enough to rescue their franchise. If WW and JL are both solid they might break even in terms of perception.
>>

I don't think the studio knew what kind of movie they were getting. I think they wanted Alien, a crowd-pleaser. And it was way too ferocious for them. They were upset by the ending—too dark. But that's what I wanted: Who goes there? Who are we? Which one of you is real? The movie was hated. Even by science-fiction fans. They thought that I had betrayed some kind of trust, and the piling on was insane."
