Rose was not Pink Diamond.

Still, we know that there -was- a Pink Diamond. Assuredly, Rose served Pink Diamond for a time, but what caused their relationship to end? A lot of folks here speculate that Rose had to destroy PD as her first act of rebellion. There's another possibility, though.

Rose realized how powerful love and fusion could be, and she began learning/teaching the rest of her armies how to fuse with different types of gems. The fusions were virtually unstoppable on the battlefield, even more powerful than their homogeneous counterparts.

So if the Diamonds have a weapon -so- powerful that it can corrupt gems on contact, what the fuck did Rose do to protect her and the other 3? Seems like Peedle's troops had been in the ship since they were corrupted, so that weapon was clearly powerful enough to go right through solid... whatever Homeworld ships are made of.
