I also don't think the CGI is as good as the original's classic special effects. It looks amazing and advanced, sure, but something about it is just not as cool as practical effects like the old ones had. Those Special Editions from a couple years back were weird for the same reason. Good thing most VHS tapes you can find nowadays are of the original, non-Special releases. The Special editions will probably stop being released soon enough.
