>From the Lucasfilm Pavilion at San Diego Comic-Con (2913), meet Rogue One’s Edrio Two Tubes:

>Edrio Two Tubes is a mercenary pilot who flies alongside his eggmate, Benthic. The two share the nickname derived from the breathing apparatus that allows their Tognath physiology to process oxygen atmospheres. Edrio’s home world Yar Togna was conquered and occupied by the Empire, forcing him to flee as a refugee. Desiring to strike back at the Empire, Edrio and Benthic have allied with Saw Gerrera.

Eh, why do people like Rey?

Luke was a great pilot because he spent all of his free time FLYING. Rey is a great pilot... because she used a simulator and has only flown once in her life.

Yeah, I know, the Force and all but that sort of thing really doesn't endear you to the character.
>>
>>84663224
She's a strong woman who need no man! Girls need to be able to project themselves on a main character too!

Even if she's really boring, poorly written and have no flaws.
>>
>>84663224

Because I still found the character and her arc entertaining despite being overpowered.

It's classic pulp storytelling, I can handle the character being hyper-competent if they still work within the context of the narrative. I still, enjoyed John Carter despite him being a gigantic Gary Stu because he worked as the hero in the context of the story.

I didn't dislike Anakin in the Prequels because he was a Gary Stu, I disliked him because Jake Lloyd was a block of wood and Hayden was trying to do his best James Dean impression, which consisted of 2 films of whining about his mom or his girlfriend and pouting.

It all comes down to execution. I liked Rey.
>>
>>84662817
Shit, I might actually go see it then.
>>
>>84662817
I don't believe you. I respect your opinion, but I don't believe you.
>>
>>84663302

Anakin wasn't a gary stu in the prequels, though. He literally screwed up every time because of his lack of focus.
>>
>>84663452

> He literally screwed up every time because of his lack of focus.

Just because the movie kept saying that doesn't mean it was shown on-screen.
>>
>>84663302
>anakin
>gary stu

But he does not save the day, and NEVER is in the good graces of his superiors (the jedi council), and he is constantly told to stop fucking up by Obi-wan.

>>84663471

He went to rescue his master, and was captured. He didn't listen to Obi-wan and got struck with force lightning. And then was soundly defeated and had his arm cut off and needed to be saved by Yoda.

Not all people like storytelling. Even fan fiction makes money nowadays.
>>
>>84663471

You mean the movie in which Anankin fails to rescue his mother, fails to rescue his master, gets hit with force lighning, and finally gets beaten in a duel and de-armed?

Anakin is not a Gary Stu. He fails, a lot, despite his talents.

Rey doesn't fail at anything in TFA.
>>
>>84663452
>>84663471
What?

>gets himself and padme captured while failing to rescue obi-wan
>gets his shit kicked in by dooku
>marries padme despite being told not to
>in the clone wars cartoons, constantly puts people in danger due to his reckless decisions, but is getting better because he's at least somewhat learning.

And then, Jesus Christ, Revenge of the Sith.

>kills Dooku despite it putting him more firmly on the dark path
>listens to sheev's lies
>gets (rightfully) angry about the council's treatment of him but reacts to it like a child and lets it cloud his mind
>becomes a sith
>kills jedi and the younglings, and this is never treated sympathetically, as it shouldn't
>pushes padme away with his assholery
>gets obliterated by Obi-wan due to his overconfidence

Don't confuse being extremely competent (as he should, he's a monster when it comes to the Force) to not making mistakes. He makes plenty of them.

Rey has incredible power and this never backfires on her.

Anakin has incredible power and this is treated realistically, with him letting it go to his head and thinking he's better than everyone.
>>
you now realize that rey would have escaped starkiller base without finn or han coming.
>>
>>84663528
This is why I love Anakin. He's probably the most human character in all of Star Wars.
>>
>>84663528

my post was agreeing with you, my man.
>>
>>84663564
Yep, he's actually treated like a realistic ~20 year old who's incredible power doesn't prevent him from doing stupid stuff with that power. Even in the late clone wars episodes he's still fucking up at times, especially the Rush Clovis arcs.

Rey is hyper competent and has no draw backs, but even worse, there's nothing really interesting about her.

Anakin has competence, but faults to come along with that competence and an interesting characterization.

>>84663582

Seriously, go to his wiki page. It is padded to hell and back to hide the fact the only thing we know about this dude is he created the Rule of Two. The Legacy section is longer than the actual backstory section.
>>
>>84664382
>It is padded to hell and back to hide the fact the only thing we know about this dude is he created the Rule of Two.

Well, all we got was what was from Yoda's perspective. It's only logical that he wouldn't know everything about Bane other than that he founded the Rule of Two. Maybe, if we're lucky, we'll get a book or something from Sidious' perspective, and maybe it'll shed some light on his predecessors.
>>
So 7 sucked.
Was it in development hell too long or what?
>>
>>84664453
>Was it in development hell too long or what?

Opposite. It's production was rushed as hell. And it detracted heavily from what Lucas had written it to be.
>>
>>84664475
Rushed? Was it not in development for years? Why would you rush the first part of a trilogy that's entire purpose was setting up the rest of the franchise?
>>
>>84664492
To make a quick buck probably.

Even if it was rushed, it was an alright movie, I thought.

Because money. They had already spent 4 billion on star wars. They needed to gain that money back as quickly as possible for the investors.

>>
>>84664492

No. Rejected and abandoned movies can't possibly count towards production time. The movie that was produced is unrelated to anything planned in the Lucas era.

From conception to finished product and release? About a year and a couple months, give or take. Every one of the prequels respectively took three years to make. That's why TFA sucked (among a few other big reasons). They didn't take their time with it to make the best film possible like what Lucas did.

>Come on now, I think you're giving him a bit too much credit

I'm not. He literally took his time to do what he could, and gave as much time for what everyone else needed to do. The writing may have been not the best, but everything else in the prequels were top notch for the time. George actually cared about what he was doing and wanted to tell a story simply for the sake of entertaining people. He wasn't in it for the money. Disney is. that's why they're pumping out a new Star Wars movie (or more if you count the Anthology flicks) every year. If Disney actually respected the franchise they'd take their fucking time with it.

Our own galaxy is estimated to have from 100 to 400 billion stars in it. (It's really hard to get an accurate count) Even if only a fraction of those meets all the conditions, we're talking a mind-boggling number of systems involved in the Republic/Empire.

I never decided that. We did a Strawpoll, and the vast majority voted that.

We even did a second Strawpoll a while later because a couple people said it shouldn't have a perfect score, and again, the overwhelming majority gave it a 10/10.

I guess people are willing to overlook some of the earlier stuff because of just how much high quality stuff TCW gave us. I mean, there was 100+ episodes, it's perfectly understandable that someone who enjoyed the vast majority of it would vote 10/10. Pretty much everybody in this thread considers it essential Star Wars viewing.

>>84665381
That's technically true. Though I also meant that for the most part there were no actual citizens of either side participating in the war. The Republic used a clone army manufactured specifically for this conflict and the Separatists used a droid army. Both sides spent resources creating and funding their armies/war efforts but hardly needed to spend the actual lives of their citizenry.
I just thought it was kind of a strange and funny way to make the conflict more palatable for a wider audience by having the two factions fight with fabricated armies
>>
So I just caught up on the comics. What do you guys think about the new Imperial Commandos? (They are supposed to be the equivalent of IC's, right?)

I thought they were damn awesome, and as soon as I saw the wall-running Jetpack thingy, I realized how much potential they have for some really fun Vidya. (Which of course means, never ever, because no fun allowed at EA's Star Wars division)

>>84665299
Literally everybody except Sheev.

>>84665360
Yeah, I share that sentiment. Even "Bombad Jedi", Jar Jar's solo episode which is often referred to as the worst of TCW, is pretty fun IMO, and a nice brief change of pace from the really good grittier stuff that Season, like the Ryloth/Kit Fisto/Cad Bane episodes.
>>
>>84665460
In that case, you're right. With the notable exceptions of Umbara and Geonosis, the Separatists pretty much only fielded machines while their actual citizenry sat out the fighting. I do remember a lot of the Separatists bitching about how Dooku was running the war seemed to be griefing more about the profit losses and costs in monetary terms as opposed to lives lost like how Padme and the "stop the war" movement in the Republic Senate harped on the suffering of people and money was only ever a factor when it came to clone production costs.

Story =/= presentation
Better directing and acting would have made critics laud him for not rehashing the OT and going in new directions.
Now we have exactly that problem, while the directing and acting is better. Rogue One needs to hit it out of the ballpark to show the audience SW can move on from the main saga blueprint.

The same reason why they've already announced a bunch of spin offs despite not a single has been released yet and them releasing Rebels hence why the first season only had roughly 13 episodes.

If you think about it, every other Star Wars film had 3 years inbetween. TFA only had it's director announced just less than 2 years before release. It's bad enough only giving them that amount of time for one film but they had to come up with nearly everything for the whole trilogy during that time. Probably explains why they chose to go with copying the OT route last minute even though their concept art looked like they were going a different direction.

In Lords of the Sith, it's explained that with extreme focus, Vader can use Force Speed.

However, for the most part, Vader doesn't NEED to be fast. Almost all the Jedi are gone, and he can Force Choke a bitch a mile away.

So, as simple as it sounds, he is fast when he needs to be, and thus it's completely up to the writer to do whatever they feel necessary in the given scenario/situation.

Rebel's Vader fight with Ahsoka is probably the best look at his peak Lightsaber Dueling abilities, which were still very strong. A lot of powerful thrusts designed to simply overpower his enemy, not dissimilar to Anakin Skywalker. Almost as f they're the same person...

They don't. And technically, they don't have Zabraks either. It's not a meme if it's truth. Lucas removed everyone that ever talked back to him and did so in so public a manner that when he called around looking for directors for episode 1, no one wanted anything to do with him because "job security" around that autist is a myth.

Red Letter Media the place where Plinkett comes from. The popular opinion from the Plinkett reviews is that Lucas was surrounded by yes men. The sad part is he took behind the scenes footage completely out of context to justify his reviews and criticisms. You got people on the internet using them as "proof".

TPM was a very ambitious and massive project. The crew is extremely excited and got a bit over extended. They admit this may have ill effects on the movie but people took their enthusiasm as being controlled by Lucas.
>>
>>84671563
>>84671643
Lucas did have "yes men", but it's not as overblown as people (cough-RLM-cough) have made out.

There was tons of people who worked with him, and agreed with all his decisions, but;

A) Most of them have seen all of Lucas's great movies and at that point believed he could do no wrong (Especially during TPM)

B) Genuinely agreed with most of his ideas. These people worked at Lucasfilm and obviously had a very strong understanding of what Lucas was aiming for.

There is also the semi-common knowledge that Lucas DID go to several other people for help, only to be turned down because they believed he would do great.

And according to Filoni, Lucas will absolutely listen to you if you challenge his ideas, and Filoni got to have his way plenty of times during TCW. So it's possible that if there WAS any doubt in Lucas from his staff, they may have just been intimidated by him. But I don't believe that was a big problem, I think most people were just happy with what Lucas was aiming for and believed it was going great. (Yeah, I know about the clip of the guy looking worried towards the camera, but it was only because he realized Lucas was scribbling on the storyboard with the wrong marker. Lucas numerously realizes that later in the clip, so that guy's "reaction" is often used out of context. I think RLM popularized that.)

Ah, I remember now. I was stuck on ILM and though you might have mistyped, but then it made no sense.

Yeah, kind of a stretch, but I still think having more vets around him to pull him back could have been helpful. Honestly, I still want a Spielberg directed star wars movie. He would have been perfect in the prequels.

Spielberg did in fact help with some sequences in RotS.

Oh, I know, and its the best prequel. But now I want a prequel era Spielberg as a director anthology film.

Is there anything preventing that? Any qualms with disney or lucasfilm that would stop him.

I just feel like it was the only scene in the entire movie that had actual tension. Especially with the new kid taking over as the lead role. Thought for a second that it was legit the end of Indy.

I did find the Fridge thing a bit eye-rolling initially, but I sort of forgave it. And then when I found out Lucas put in the effort to conclude that surviving that way was actually possible, it sort of re-validated that the scene was as good as I remembered it.

I was much more upset at the ayy lmao at the end.

It's a combination of factors including being the big boss of Lucasfilm, a certain degree of fan worship from employees, some sycophantism I'm sure, and he obviously doesn't always listen to those people who do tell him no, up to and including his own friends, which leads to Nuke the Fridge.

Not even sure why people think it is a meme, this is hardly something that just happens to just Lucas.

My headcanon is that the clones were built in a way where if Sheev were to activate one of the clone commanders serving with the Jedi council it would then activate a portion of the clones wave after wave. Kind of explains why he only gives Cody the order but Obi-Wan's entire squadron begins firing at him for example.

>Rey doesn't fail at anything in TFA

She accidentally opened the doors on Han and Chewie's ship and released the monsters that endangered everyone's lives, almost getting Finn killed.
Plus maybe it was just me but her rejecting Luke's lightsaber and running away came across a bit... irresponsible? She was just scolding Finn for abandoning their epic space adventure and the minute she was told to do something of seeming importance that spooked her a bit she wanted to call it quits and ran away.

Unlike Anakin, as the anon explained, no-one really calls Rey out on her mistakes though, which only helped contribute to her Mary-Su-ish portrayal. I too have to admit that as far as overpowered characters go, Rey didn't particularly bug me. I liked her chemistry with the other characters too much, especially with Finn.
>>
>>84674616

those monsters saved han and chewie from being killed.

and rejecting luke's lightsaber and running away is not irresponsible, her goal was simply to get off her planet, nothing more.

she was angry that her first friend had lied to her, more than anything.

you are really reaching. she's a mary sue.
>>

>She accidentally opened the doors on Han and Chewie's ship and released the monsters that endangered everyone's lives, almost getting Finn killed.
So she... almost made a mistake with real consequences. Wow.
>>
>>84674616
I don't think I'd call it irresponsible. She lived her whole life with this certainty her family would return for her, even though as Maz pointed out in her heart she already knew it was true. She was admonishing Finn for abandoning something she thought he'd already committed to as the Resistance Fighter it turned out he never was, but Rey kept trying to get back to Jakku repeatedly since leaving the place. She was being consistent to what she thought was important.

Just being handed a sword and told that Destiny has shit it wants you to do, well, people are free to be a bit intimidated and do the, "I didn't sign up for this!" bit. I mean WE the audience knows she's making a huge mistake. Maz's little exasperated sigh was kind of cute, though.

>She single handily escapes the Starkiller base.
Hardly escaped the base. She ran into her friends while in the base, after all. She got out of Kylo Ren's nobody-expects-the-spanish-massage-chair with help from the Force. The base was on high alert and Kylo Ren had the hangers locked down and guarded. So all Rey had to do to finish escaping on her own was find a ship that wasn't locked down, managed to open the hanger doors, manage not to get shot down by base defenses, manage to not get shot down by scrambled TIEs, hope that her ship even has a hyperdrive, and also somehow know that there is a planetary defense shield that keeps unauthorized ships from passing at anything less than hyperspace.

But yeah she was mostly scot-free, sure.

Also nobody criticized her? Not like Maz looked happy about her running off, which Forced Maz to rely on Finn delivering the saber after Rey flipped off destiny.

You're mistaking things still working out for there actually being no problems in the first place. And it isn't like things really worked out. Han is dead, Finn is in a coma, and Luke, well, he's hopefully not crazy. Or evil.

Technically they did show a new Rogue One trailer at Celebration... though for some bizarre reason didn't post it online anywhere afterward and even the buzz that the trailer would be shown on that ABC special turned out to be false. It wasn't a particularly great trailer either.

I'd hope they have one ready for SDCC and officially unveil it to the non-Celebration public then, but if they do I know it'll just be the Celebration trailer again, which doesn't have a whole lot of meat in it.

To be fair, Poe's failure to resist Kylo was the reason the First Order knew to look for BB-8, and then he crash lands and completely fails in his mission to retrieve BB-8 and the map pieces and has to have his new stormtrooper buddy, some scavenger, and Han Solo do the job for him. Like he literally just woke up on Jakku and fucked right off.

I think Poe's problem isn't so much that he's overpowered but that there's nothing really compelling about him as a character. He's a hotshot ace pilot in a franchise that's filled to the brim with those, and there isn't anything that really makes him noteworthy as anything beyond "hotshot ace pilot."

>>
>>84676032
But that just puts his failure in the same as Rey failing to stop Kylo Ren from paralyzing her and then knocking her out with the Force. Plot induced and demanded.

Plus there's something to be said about the only thing Poe couldn't resist, despite all the torture, was someone using the Force to reach directly into his mind, and even then he apparently was fighting back based on his scream.

Poe's survival is sloppy as hell and I don't even know why. I know he was originally meant to die in the crash, but by the time they cast Oscar Isaac they had surely already decided to beef up his role, right? And he was part of that first big casting news, so his survival was already planned at that point, there's no explanation for why it feels like such a rushed change.
>>
>>84676096

You would think that, but Star Wars is one of those things where even A-list actors would say yes to a small part. Oscar's star has been rising for a few years but I'm sure if he was approached with "you play a pilot who gets captured, escapes with one of the main characters, gives him a name and dies" he'd probably agree to that just to be in Star Wars.
>>
>>84676211
I don't think you know what circular logic is. I'm merely pointing out that if Poe's failure to resist Kylo Ren is a failure then Rey doing the same is, indeed, the same kind of failure. Her ability with the Force means nothing, though it would actually suggest she isn't as much a Sue as people claim given she didn't just shrug his abilities off from the moment she met him.

Yes, he's a great pilot. The point I'm making is that he still fails. There is no way he should be able to resist a force user, and he doesn't. There is no way he should be able to escape from a SD-class ship in the just a tie, and he doesn't. Compared to Rey who pulls off everything with aplomb.

Poe gets mindfucked, tortured, and gives up the information.

Actually he know the exact spots to shoot in a TIE that render the Finalizer helpless until they redirected to the ship's other guns which presumably only still worked because Poe was feeling generous.

They were shot out of the sky for narrative convenience after already taking out several shots. They were just suddenly hit while arguing with each other. Rey sure as hell doesn't pull off everything she tries first time with maximum confidence, from struggling with the Mind Trick to repeated crashing the Falcon into shit.
>>

And Leia was none the worst from either Vader's torture or watching her adoptive planet and parents murdered. Han had no lasting ill-effects from being Jabba's decoration.

This is Star Wars, not a fucking Saw movie. People aren't being physically and emotionally ripped to pieces every scene. Even Luke bounced back from his brief periods of moping.
>>
>>84672785
>>84672800
That one's pretty clever
>>
>>84676553
>The point you and other are missing are that Rey suffers no consequences. She isn't mentally scarred by Kylo's intrusion after she's captured and easily escapes.
And Poe wasn't mentally scarred from what Kylo Ren did to him either, so what was your actual point again?
>>
>>84676757
Finn was kind of fucked up but mostly sweaty.
>>
>>84676421

>>
>>84676632
>which presumably only still worked because Poe was feeling generous.

What the hell are you going on about. He didn't know shit, he just shot at what was in front of him, the turrets that were aiming at him.

And Rey doesn't pull of any of that stuff off with confidence (but still pulls it off really well) because she doesn't have the experience that Poe does.

They were shot out of the sky because there was no way Poe could disable all of the ships weaponry while trying to escape, not out of "narrative convenience".
>>
>>84676757

You're a jackass, the consequence that Poe suffered was giving up vital Resistance information against his will.
>>
>>84676872
>What the hell are you going on about. He didn't know shit, he just shot at what was in front of him, the turrets that were aiming at him.
No he didn't, he was having Finn specifically aim at the turrets they needed to render the Finalizer's guns dead on approach. Hux merely had the ship realigned to use non-destroyed guns which Poe had left operation.

Did you even watch the movie?

>And Rey doesn't pull of any of that stuff off with confidence (but still pulls it off really well) because she doesn't have the experience that Poe does.
Aplomb literally means "self-confidence or assurance." Guess it was a bad word choice on your part.

>They were shot out of the sky because there was no way Poe could disable all of the ships weaponry while trying to escape, not out of "narrative convenience".
They could do whatever they needed to to do whatever the script wanted them to do. This was hardly a case of, "OH god, we want Poe to land safely BUT WE CANNOT DEFEAT OUR OWN AWESOME CREATION THE FINALIZER!"

This is literally a case of them crashing only to separate Finn and Poe so Finn finds Rey and BB-8 on his own.
>>
>>84676988
>You're a jackass, the consequence that Poe suffered was giving up vital Resistance information against his will.
And that was never portrayed as any kind of psychological trauma from his encounter. Now you're pretending you were just talking about consequences again. Kicking the goal post back and forth isn't helping your argument at all.
>>
>>84676553
Luke didn't suffer many major consequences in Episode IV

Anakin didn't suffer many major consequences in Episode I

She has two more movies for particularly bad shit to happen to her. Whatever she did in TFA will probably have further-reaching effects throughout the next two movies.
>>
>>84663644
I love the idea that not only does the death star have a stunt track but Darth Vader apparently has a car modeled after his own head
>>
>>84676988
All Poe gave up was that BB-8 had a crystal and the FO never captured BB-8, so the consequences of that vital information never really materialized.

Leia and the Resistance did more damage by ordering a recon flyby of Starkiller Base which somehow the FO tracked back to their primary HQ which is how the FO knew where to target their star system destroying weapon.

Obi-Wan getting killed wasn't a result of anything Luke did. Vader just sensed and tracked him down. Him getting killed there was his own choice.

As for Luke's friend getting killed, I don't really think that was Luke's fault considering, once again, it was Vader that was after them.

As for Anakin abandoning his mother, okay, but the ultimate consequence of that came in the next movie. That's the kind of thing I'm saying could happen with Rey.

This got me wondering, how exactly did Lucas pay for the show? I mean if he paid for each of the episodes in advance, why didn't they finish the ones that were completely covered? Or did he just pay for each little stage of each episode at a time?

>>84673912
They can hardly fuck it up since literally everything was completed apart from the animation which they hadn't started yet. As long as they don't make any changes to the original episodes that we've seen then they can only fuck up the style by half assing the animation or getting a different studio to do it.
>>
>>84677673
fair enough on Luke's friend, but if I remember Ep IV right, Obi-Wan's original plan would have had him sneak around and disable the tractor beam while luke and han stay out of trouble. Its Luke's desperation to save Leia that leads to Obi-wan being forced to reveal himself.
>>
>>84677673
Technically Luke being there got Obi-Wan killed, but that was because Obi-Wan died when he deliberately threw the fight. Obi-Wan smiles when he sees Luke, he apparently recognized that as his moment to self-sacrifice.

WHY he did it is open to debate. Threads have talked about it before, a long time ago. Some think it was his means of distracting Vader with empty robes so he couldn't capture Luke (something that fits in better with modern versions of Vader where he's not just a crippled gimp who can't move faster than a trot). Personally I prefer Obi-Wan did it for Luke as the ultimate demonstration of the power of the Force over even death.
>>
>>84678485
Oh yeah, that's right. It's been a little while sine I last watched it so I forgot that Luke and Han weren't actually supposed to do anything. Even so, though, I don't remember their shooting up the place affection Obi-Wan's end of things all that much. Wasn't it more that Vader just sensed his presence and went looking for him?

>It's etter and more unique than Vader 2.0
No its not.

And since Bane is technically older, it gives a reason why Vader looks lime he does.

>>84681109
You should have seen him in TFA

>but trying to push the meme
Right, people can't dislike Wendig's writing, it has to be a meme.
>>
>>84687176
But does Ackbar know? You do realize nobody ever consults them. Just ask poor Warwick.

Also Ackbar's voice is dead.
>>
>>84687216
This seems like a bad topic that isn't prone to solving anything. Plus I don't think people need reminding Wendig's writing sucks.

Pic unrelated.

My cousin said he skipped The Clone Wars because he thought it would be too kid friendly and that it would take away from the whole story/universe. He's never been so happy to be proven wrong

Just watched the opening of ANH again. I think I've figured out the fine details of how the mission in Rogue One went based on the opening crawl and the situation the Tantive IV is in at the beginning of the movie.
>Rogue Squadron attacked the base on Scarriff.
>While this attack was happening Jyn and her team were snuck into the base using a U-Wing.
>They stole the plans during this time.
>They likely didn't survive given that Jyn was running with a physical copy of the plans but was forced to beam them to the Tantive IV which was probably in orbit.
>I say the Tantive IV was probably in orbit because it would be an easy way to explain how the Empire detected the plans were being beamed to it and it's likely that the Empire quickly put a tracker on the Tantive IV so that when it jumped away to Tatooine Vader could follow it immediately.
So this probably means that nobody survives Rogue One and Obi-Wan will probably be mentioned since the Rebellion apparently knew exactly what they were doing when they got to Tatooine instead of haphazardly trying to find Obi-Wan like some people speculate. This also means that Leia may appear in some form (likely just from the back or something).

>Rogue Squadron
This doesn't exist until after ANH. Even then it's only action in canon is taking down AT-ATs on Hoth. Wedge is scrapping the idea and replacing it with Phantom Squadron as-of Life Debt.

>Obi-wan
I do hope he gets a mention by Bail and Mothma while they have their meeting with Dodonna and the other leadership on Yavin-IV.
>>

>Bail
Do we know for sure if he's in it?
>>
>>84687809
We saw him for a split second in the Rogue one celebration reel. Just before we saw someone that looked like a flashback-Tarkin talking to Krennic.
>>
>>84687809
He was in the background in the behind the scenes video.

Oh meatbag, you are so adorable. I'll have you know that once we have your blood and your precious midi-chlorians we'll be switching our efforts into unlocking this "genetics" thing you hold so dear.
>>
>>84687647
Well, I guess that covers part of the movie, but not so much the part where they go to Jedah, or whatever that planet's called. Are there any official details as far as why they end up there?
>>
>>84685584
Then why does he hate Jedi so much now?
>>
>>84688507
Because the reason he got all the augmentations was that he badly wanted to be a Jedi because of their reputation as great warriors, but he didn't have the Midichlorians for it, so he decides becoming a machine will compensate for that.
>>
>>84688507
They're Republic Attack Dogs that were sent out to do that governments bidding, and probably sided with whomever the Republic was aligned with in that region of space, who knows how many worlds and species the Jedi pisses off.
>>
>>84688507
I remember reading something a while back saying that he wanted their kind of power and tried to have blood with a high midichlorian count transfused into himself, but it didn't work, so his hatred of them is out of jealousy for what they can do. I'm not sure if that's either not the case anymore or if I'm just making it up, but I'm PRETTY sure that was it.
>>
>>84688745
That's Legends shit
>>
>>84688998
However a droid planning to siphon the blood of innocent beings in order to gain a presence in the Force is entirely nu canon.

They don't call him Triple Zero for nothing.
>>
>>84687080
I really want Grabala to be canon
>>
>>84688745
>>84688998
The only part there that's legends is the midichlorian transfusion... and even then, it was never canon. It's something that comes from the Visionaries comic, which isn't itself canon but according to Leland Chee had elements of canon (meaning that the basic story of the shuttle crash was canon, but the details presented in Eyes of the Revolution were not). Wookieepedia kept listing it as canon because they couldn't understand the distinction that Chee was making.

The part about Grievous being frustrated that he couldn't match Jedi levels of warrior skill no matter how hard he trained is his new backstory, though. His constant modifications were attempts to bridge that gap.
