Quick question, what's the appeal of this show? Other than fangirls, I'm not entirely sure why this show is so popular. I've tried watching the first couple of episodes, but found some side characters to be slightly annoying. Does it get any better? I'd be willing to give this another chance if need be.

If there's one thing I really enjoy about this show, it's the premise. It seems very reminiscent of Sailor Moon (ordinary girl has animal sidekick but is also secretly a superhero, while having male friend who is also a superhero, and villain of the week uses material goods/people against heroes). That show also had clunky dialogue, but I don't mind watching an episode every once in a while. I think Miraculous could be that type of show in the future for me.

The whole "leave her and force her to use up her lucky charm to save Chat Noir" plot was Hawkmoth's idea. He actually was directly ordering Lady Wifi around and that was the strategy he came up with. He could have ordered Wifi to take the earrings and wait Chat Noir out. But he didn't. Because Hawkmoth is a retard who doesn't deserve Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculouses. Also, taking Ladybug's earrings away would have caused her to detransform and reveal her identity, i.e. what Lady Wifi wanted from this whole affair. So your suggestion would not have worked in this case.

I wonder if Adrien will 'get over' his crush to Ladybug before he realizes Ladybug is Marinette. I kinda liked the idea that Adrien is giving up on Ladybug, realizes Marinette is also a 10/10 and starts falling in love with her but then finding out that Marinette is Ladybug.

I would also like it if it is Marinette who got over her crush on Adrien and started loving Chat, before realizing they're the same guy.

If anything it helps the love square, since Adrien realizing that thought they're partners he was so focused on himself and the idea of her, that he never noticed a very vital part of her personality, it can force Adrien to realize that he has to take the blinders off, when he's interacting with people.

This can have the effect of him noticing the world around him more, which includes Marinette.

For Marinette it forces her to not be so focused on Adrien, but also allows her to notice Chat more, and be aware of Adrien's faults. It can also have the effect of making her more comfortable around him.

The problem with LadyNoir and Ladrien is the fact that Adrien is too caught up in his idea of Ladybug and living a fantasy and him getting together with Ladybug would justify that fantasy. Which is bad for Adrien as a character.

In the case of Adrinette Marinette idealizes Adrien too, but unlike Adrien she's got her shit together, all you need to do is break that idealization.

MariChat is a different story.
