Lance seems to be the most ill-defined character in terms of team role because only his negative traits are given the most obvious attention, but let's look at him more closely.

His positive qualities:

> he thinks quickly on his feet and formulates sound strategic decisions while doing so
> he has a good sense of humour
> he shows a great deal of personal courage


His negative qualities:

> has an inflated sense of his own ability

I think Lance's overall role is meant to be group combat strategist.

This is a role Lance will grow into after he starts to accept that he'll never be as good a fighter pilot as Keith, but he's showing signs of it already while being part of the infiltration missions in the later episodes. He has the coolest head and clearest assessment of the situations they find themselves in during these scenarios, with other characters coming to similar conclusions after Lance has already done so. Lance's main problem is his negative qualities are putting him in competition for a role he isn't suited for.

Once he sees that and goes through some character development, he'll settle into the position of group tactician.

I'd like to think that if the writers were smart while the team was away Earth would be crawling over what Galra tech was left behind and begin to base newer tech off of that.

Naturally, being that aliens are hostile they'd be shitting a brick and when Voltron inevitably comes to Earth attempt to arrest them all and go over the lions a la the Devil's Due comics.

The best they can come up with is a robot that needs 15 instead of 5 due to the difference in tech.

In time, and hopefully after things have cleared they being to explore for both new worlds to colonize and get a better view of what awaits them with Vehicle Voltron assisting and with each new alien tech acquired VV get's stronger until it can come close to or match Lion Voltron.

I was literally gonna post the same thing. It'd be interesting to see how feminine Pidge likes to be by default. Katie was pretty girly, but then there was that one scene of Allura spying on Pidge being gross. There was pretty much nothing else either way, except I guess Pidge likes to dress in her normal civies from when she was pretending (could just be laziness with keeping the primary design from before the reveal).

It'd be interesting if Pidge got sloppier when she realized, when pretending to be a boy, she could get away with it as a boy.

I haven't seen Voltron Force, but I don't think I've seen a single comparison that puts Voltron Force ahead.

Personally, Voltron: Legendary Defender is probably one of the best examples I've seen of CGI and 2D animation mixing. CGI seems to be largely restricted to the robot fights, and they seem to have taken great pains to look like it was 2D styled. I think there might have been one or two moments when I noticed they CGI'd one of the humans, but usually only in full armor.

I enjoyed the fights as well, but I don't feel it's on the same level as Majestic Prince of Fafner Exodus.

MJP just had massive in scale space battles that were fun, while Fafner had both massive scale and amazing direction for it's fights.

I feel that they need to beef up the crew for Alura's ship because as support just two people in nowhere as interesting as the entire Alvis Crew providing support.

What I'd like to see: a darker episode featuring Lance coming face to face with the brutality of the Galran empire. To throw the viewers off it could even start comedic but take a dark turn toward the end. The dark episodes are always best when given to the clown/comedic relief, they hit harder.

I actually want Keith to end up stranded on a peaceful world where he's working on a farm, bored out of his mind. Maybe having him shirtless for the fan girls with cute alien girls going nuts over him. Make that the actual comedy episode. Keith is so po-faced it'd be more amusing for him to get stuck in a place like that.

The first season starts out slow but picks up, characters are likable and the animation is budget.

The OVA, Movie, and Exodus all have better animation and just improve on the original

Shiro didn't turn traitor. That was a complete bait and switch. Haggar failed to break him in the end. He also didn't die the way everyone was expecting. Voltron has actually thrown a few twists in there. Most of the predictions for season one were wrong.

I also don't think Keith is being set up to take over as leader. If anything I can see him being a possible traitor.

It's probably a cross between the usual overwhelmingly male villain ratios and redoing the designs from the original Voltron which were also overwhelmingly male. I haven't seen the original Voltron, but people have posted images of Sendak's original counterpart from it.

The Galra have bit of odd variety too. Zarkon looks pretty hairless, where as most of the generals seem like cat people. If Haggar is a Galran, then she's on the Zarkon side of the designs. We'll probably see more examples as we go on.
