That was just a new family Magneto had in Poland.
>>
>>83025856

>>
>>83025815
Just came back from the film. Apocalypse was barely even flinching in that scene and he completely BTFO'd Quicksilver immediately after.
>>
>>83026289

The effects in Civil War were fucking awful. I liked the film but any time Falcon flew it looked like PS3 graphics.
>>
>>83026999
>That was just a new family Magneto had in Poland.
>new family
Fuck, I literally read that as "jew family" for a moment.
>>
>>83025856
Seriously, what the fuck is going on with superhero movies and CGI?
BvS, Civil War, X-Men, the three had absolutely disgusting CGI.
>>
>>83027129
Other than a couple of stills from Civil War, nothing stood out as horrendous CGI
>>
>>83027201
It was mostly Iron Man's suit.
Ant-Man and Giant-Man looked nice.
Hope with Perlmutter gone they stop half assing the CGI budget.
At least they are already blowing money with the Thor 3 cast.
>>
>>83027201
It's mostly action scenes.
The chase in CW looked awful at times.
The Doomsday fight in BvS was a clusterfuck of bad CGI, much like the last fight in MoS.
X-Men was more like MCU movies where nothing really stands out, some things look genuine, but there's some moments that look awful.
>>
>>83026405
>Jubilee doesn't do shit
Honestly I'm just relieved she was alive at the end.
>>
>>83027129
>BvS
Was alright though. If anything, the CGI and the action scenes were the saving graces of that movie.
>>
>>83028128
Dude the Doomsday fight looked like a videogame.
That part where Wonder Woman gets smashed into the ground like 100 meters looked specially awful.
>>
>>83028144
I need to see a direct-feed version of it. I can see how you might feel that way but to me it was just heavily stylized.
>>
The worst shit was with those cargo container boats.

>>
>>83027201
I swear to god, every single CGI-heavy action movie is bad CGI to you people.
>>
>>83029004
Look at Transformers, those movies have good CGI.
>>
How did Civil War have so much better special effects, costumes and fight scenes when it only cost 15 million more to make than this pile of steaming crap?
>>
It's like 20 years later in-universe, but has Quicksilver not aged at all and still living in his mom's basement? And also his little sister?

DoFP was 70s

>>
I must ask the most important question: does Singer cuck me and put Quicksilver in a hetshit relationship?

A QT3.14 like Quicksilver deserves to be with another boy just as QT as he is.
>>
>>83025856
this whole scene was pretty stupid, he's no where near as fast as he'd need to be for this and there was no way for him to even know the explosion was about to happen
>>
>>83030881
How do you know how fast he is?
>>
Why didn't Apocalypse make Quicksilver his Horseman instead of going for shit like Psylocke and Angel?

>>

>>83025856
Is Quicksilver X-men's Legolas now ?
>>
>>83030881
Movie Quicksilver =/= Comic Quicksilver. Their speeds are different.

>>83030937
That works. Evan Peters, the actor who plays Quicksilver, is 29 eternal twink. So it's not impossible to believe that Quicksilver can still look that young even though he must be like 28 or something now.
>>
>>83026347
>Apocalypse
>good movie
Look, I'm a Marvelfag myself, but I can honestly say that I don't think BvS deserved the shit reviews it got. This, on the other hand, actually was a terribly mediocre movie I got bored with halfway through.
>>
>>83027129
I was okay with the CGI in BvS and Civil War.
>>
>>83026155
I don't how fast you are, punching a tank breaks your hand, not the tank.
>>
I really liked this movie for how unashamed it was of its comic book origins.
>>
>>83031320
Well, I mean, we have to assume that in addition to super speed, Quicksilver can also project some sort of force field around himself. Otherwise, just a pebble or any sort of debris, no matter has small, would puncture him and kill him because of how fast he's running. So when he punches something, like Apocalypse, he's not actually punching him with his actual fist, it's his force field that hits the object.
>>
>>83031320
not with enough kinetic energy it won't.

Speed increases Mass you know.
>>
>>83030930
How many versions of Angel have we had now, anyway?
>>
The only scene I want to see is "Sweet Dreams" Quicksilver scene.

>>83030732
90s will probably be Phoenix Saga. Really weird how none of the cast age.
>>
This version of Quicksilver seems too fast compared with the comics version. This is more like The Flash.
>>
>>83030930
Made no sense to me either. He wants the most powerful mutants, why not go for Jean Grey and Xavier from the start? Angel and Psylocke are low level.
>>
>>83026468

She's mentioned in the Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past.

Remember that scene where they go to his house to recruit him to break out Erik? In the extended version the mom tells the little girl to go upstairs and bother her sister.

So she exists, she's just never been shown.
>>
>>83031432
A small part of me hopes that they hold off from/build up to Phonenix shit for one more movie. Specifically a 00s movie based on Morrison.
90s should be Onslaught.
>>
>>83027129

The CGI is okay, it's just that stuff got so unreal you can't be fooled anymore. It's nothing to do with graphics, it's something with the choreography of the effects.

Anons that complain about CGI can't even tell what's CG and what is practical anyway.
>>
>>83030930
Didn't know he existed until he'd already gathered 4 through happenstance. He's not omniscient, even TVision has its limits.
>>
>>83026347
Being OP as fuck is a problem for storytelling, you have to do goofy shit in order to make them not end the story in 5 minutes.
>>
This movie wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't good. I just can't see why they did such a half assed job on a cape flick in a time when they're big money.
>>
Is this an Unreal Engine demo or something?
>>
>>83031320
Exactly.
That's why NASA has absolutely no problem with space debriefs, they can just put a metal sheet and those small rocks flying at thousands of km per hour will just bounce right off

Flash uses speed force to go fast QS does not. Quicksilver's body is actually strong and durable enough to withstand the obscene forces generated by moving so quickly.

the whole franchise needs a reboot. Totally wiped clean. There's too much early 2000s left in the DNA of the current series now matter how much you screw with the the timeline.

Back then X-Men seemed like as good as we could ask for but even divisive stuff like MoS is above what X-Men ever aspired for.

Nah, mugga, Deadpool is an X-related property. If Apocalypse does okay and Deadpool does well, they'll want to keep milking the X-related stuff. If they can get more X-related stuff by giving up on the abysmal F4 property, it makes sense.

And that means Marvel Studios gets Silver Surfer, Galactus, Doctor Doom, and Super Skrull. It's not specifically about the Four themselves, it's all the other characters that are caught up in their licensing.
>>
>>83031973
I'd be fine with everything if it weren't for those fucking costumes. That shit is the worst. Get the DP team to fix that shit.

No even close

CG this year.

1. Civil War
2. Deadpool
3. BvS
4. X-man

Doctor Strange will be #1, Suicide Squad will be between Deadpool and BvS.
>>
Those facial expressions remind me of the kind of kids in those Disney Channel shows
>>
>>83032349
I think a lot of sets these days are green screens, just makes shit easier than actually having to do shit on location probably. Putting in the scenery is probably among the easier things to do, just take a real image/video of a place and splice it in then touch up the oddities.

In one of the interviews they talked about the car chase scene I think, they basically ran on sort of a conveyor belt type setup alongside the cars, well not so much conveyor belt as a walkway being pulled along by another car, clearly cleaning up scenery and shit is pretty easy shit these days, so it's mostly practical effects with all the wires and stuff cleaned out. Falcon I think is always there, they just add his bigger wings, he supposedly has tiny ones on set.
>>
>>83031391
That is not how that works. Speed does not make your arm any less brittle. Any force you put on something puts an equal and opposite reaction on you. Every punch he put on apocolypse his hand received that same force. Unless Quicksilver has low level invulnerability by all rights that should have obliterated his wrists.
>>
>>83032352
Magneto and Storm turn against Apocalypse. Storm idolises Mystique and since Apocalypse nearly kills her, she turns on him.
Pyslocke escapes after she and Angel attack the plane the X-men arrive on. Jean crashes the plane, Psylcoke jumps to safety and Angel gets his wings caught and is left for dead (we get a glimpse of his corpse later but I'm not sure if he's 'dead' dead).
>>
>>83032480
Generally such rules always apply to speedsters, or the sheer acceleration they go through would probably flatten their organs and such each time they go superspeed and stuff. At the least any force they consciously put out does not affect them negatively.
>>
>>83032531
And they treat Psylocke slinking away at the end like it's going to play into future films.
>>
>>83032585

Once Old Man Logan's out of the way, they could do that one story angle where X-23 straight up imprints on her. Wouldn't be its own movie of course, but it'd be a neat way to show some redemption if they planned on bringing her back with more substance.

Thank goodness for that. I was expecting her to hog the screen time again like in days of future past.

And apocalypse really made a mistake with getting angel as a horseman.
That weak fag barely did anything useful.
Even psylock did more then him and storm.

Apocalypse must have been so disappointed with them compared to his original horsemen.
The telekinetic force field woman was better and more useful then all 4 modern one's
>>
>>83035524
She is very useless. the only thing that might piss you off is that Storm calls her a hero when talking with Apoc, and when the X-Men gather to attack Apocalypse that they mention her as inspiration, which results in JLaw actually blushing. But other than that she doesn't do anything. And as much as I dislike her, in her first appearance in the movie (Berlin scene with Nightcrawler vs Angel), she has a nice shot at her cleavage which did give me a boner. But it's something that not many anons are willing to admit.

When angel is recruited he drinks himself to death, even Psylocke mentions that he is not worthy of being a Horseman.

And yeah, Apocalypse is disappointed in his horsemen at the end, and calls them weaklings.

But the best part, which I mentioned in other thread is that Apocalypse actually smiles with satisfaction, when he is defeated, something that was very in-character for him

you forgot to mention that Magneto's daughter is actually a mutant who can control birds, which is what distracts the officers and results in that accidental shot. However, the dread on the faces of the officers was priceless, because they knew what would happen next

I really hate that they called her Nina instead of Anya.

Oh, and the best part:
Mutants are actually accepted in the movie, and it's the Apocalypse that makes mutants feared and hated.

Also, the Polish officers are surprisingly reasonable, as I expected them to be strawmen.

cont. also, I'm not sure if Magneto kills anyone (except the officers) in this movie to be honest.
Apocalypse does most of the killings

That has absolutely nothing to do with production values, special effects or polish. If anything that should have been a hindrance to Civil War not a boon.

Civil War cost 250 Million dollars and you got a film that did a good job balancing special and practical effects.

BvS cost 250 Million dollars and you got Christopher Nolan style cinematography and Lord of the Rings CGI.

Apocalypse cost 234 Million dollars and we got Spy Kids meets Power Rangers

I don't remember to be honest, probably not.
Sadly, the horsemen don't get as much spotlight as they should have, except Storm. But then again, the movie is really loaded with characters.

The movie's focus is on
1) Magneto
2) Apocalypse (mostly speeches)
3) Jean / Scott / Nightcrawler
Given that the movie is 2 hours long and it still feels short, I'm not sure how would they fit another plot / explanation.

>>
>>83040340
I felt that there wasnt much a central theme to the movie.

The movie x-men has its own brand of sci-fi, politics, super heroics that give the Singermen its own identity compared to other franchises.

I think Singer tried to ape the MCU mold without much success here. I dont know what was the theme of the movie. There are clear themes on FC and DoFP. This movie is just a very dragging Apocalypse recruits the horsemen and then he dies in the most superhero like fight the X-men ever had in movies.

Sure, its cool, it was indeed fun and I liked Apocalypse but its weird to see the final battle being resolved by who punches harder instead of character growth like the previous ones. See the climatic ending of DoFP, it was never related to who punched harder. Or the ending to FC, again it wasnt related to a fist fight and more like character based decisions.

Magneto had its own moment of character growth, but it clearly loses strength when he does the same every movie. Oh, he learned this time! Nope, genocidal maniac again the next movie...

I dont like this new "lets please the comic books fans" approach and I hope they dont lose the identity they forged with X2, FC and DoFP in the future. And for fuck's sake keep Deadpool on its own sandbox.

7/10. Has stronger character moments than CW, but lacks the focus CW had. It also has a better final overpowered villain than BvS. Doomsday was a rushed non character. The 3 movies were just average for different reasons.

>Dude the Doomsday fight looked like a videogame.

Yeah, that was the point. Most of the Superhero stuff looked Oniric. That was intentional, to make the character actions look "beyond realism". They are modern gods blah blah blah. You are watching it as if it were a dream or a legend being made, i think it failed since most people didnt get that feeling and the great CGI was turned into something that looked similar to a videogame than the thing Snyder was going for.

It worked well on Sucker punch since you are suppose to know it's fake, but the frenetic action and camera moves so much that it just turns out to be off putting. It's a technical problem. Pic related is the thing Snyder tried to do but failed. The CGI is really good butthe technique aplied to it fucked the entire escene.
>>
>>83040593
>I think Singer tried to ape the MCU
Yeah, I certainly agree with that. It does feel mcu-ish, in a way, that it's a fun blockbuster movie.

The theme of this movie was supposed to be about the survival of the fittest. You also get a cast of youngsters fighting ancient, so one could see it as this generational thing.

I do agree that DOFP had a clear theme ("can you change the past / can you change the future?"). Like you say, Apocalypse, while has a clear and a very straightforward goal, indeed lacks a little of the philosophical depth, albeit he really makes some menacing speeches, and the Apocalypse / Charles dialogue was good, when Apoc tells his vision of his perfect world.

As much as I loved Magneto in this movie, I really hope that the next one will be fully concentrated on the X-Men. There is certainly a promise of that, however, if this movie bombs, Singer might feel discouraged.

Whatever happens, I do hope that some lessons will be learned from that movie, especially things that worked, and things that could have been improved.
>>
>>83040733
One thing that BvS should be praised for is that it had an ambition to be deep. You can see that Snyder wanted to add some substance to the movie. Whether he failed or not, well, everyone has their own opinion about it, but I was pissed off how much people trashed BvS and mocked it with "2deep4u".
>>
>>83040823
Its also hard to reinvent the wheel after 16 years of movies.

I hope they keep what it worked on Apocalypse and discard what it didnt. Scott and Jean being the new stars gives hope to at least a refresh of the various recurrent plots.

I only want them to keep the movies being focused on characters rather than just villains comes and punch hard, hero comes and punches harder.

I liked Magneto rebuilding the mansion, but he walked away too easily from having killed millions of people.
>>
>>83030735

This.
>>
>>83041010
>Its also hard to reinvent the wheel after 16 years of movies.
True. The Phoenix / Shi'ar / X-Men in space would be really a breath of fresh air.

I do notice that they finally embraced the more campy aspect of the X-Men. It's possible that the success of mcu movies encouraged them to do so.

For me, I hope that this movie makes enough money to greenlight another movie, but it doesn't have to be a blockbuster like CW. In many ways, I am happy with where the X-Men are, in terms of hierarchy.
>>
>>83028144
>Dude the Doomsday fight looked like a videogame.
It happens with every movies that heavily used CGI.
>>
>>83040898
i agree, while they failed, it was actually pretty brave to explore the "mythical" characteristics of the superheroes. Superman as a sun god makes sense, the problem is that most people is only familiar with Jesus, batman being the Ãœbermensch can be explored a lot, especially the part of him being the Ãœbermensch and yet still feel like a failure when he sees a god figure. Lex being prometheus etc. all that is really nice, but while Snyder had the balls to go for that route he lacks the experience and capacity to make it feel like part of the Narrative. The thematic part of the movie is great. But is a better movie and story to talk about than to watch it. I hope the extended cut fix at least the Pace of the movie. BvS will be a cult favorite in the future. But know it just feels like it hurt the DCEU by just doing something really rally brave, but also something most people didnt want to get.

The problem is that it had an unusual edition/pacing for your average blockbuster.

This would not be an issue in any other genre where the audience is not braindead retarded, but I think they aimed too high and had too much faith on the average consumer.

Of course, it also had it shares of mistakes but the unusual edition was what killed the movie financially.

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/x-men-apocalypse-big-international-box-office-opening-1033-million

>Fans in America are still a week away from getting to see the latest entry in Fox's X-Men film franchise, but "X-Men: Apocalypse" has already hit 20,596 screens across the world. Opening in just 64% of its total international markets, Bryan Singer's fourth X-flick has scored an impressive $103.3 million opening weekend box office.

>As Variety reports, the impressive number comes with a few other highlights for Fox. "X-Men: Apocalypse" took the number one spot in 71 of its 75 markets, including the U.K. ($10.5 million from 1,602 screens), Mexico ($8.6 million from 2,676), Brazil ($6.6 million from 1,277), Russia ($6.5 million from 1,208), and France ($5.9 million from 792). What's more, the movie is Fox's largest opening weekend ever in six markets: Philippines ($4.9 million), India ($3.5 million), Indonesia ($3.1 million), Singapore ($3 million), Thailand ($2.7 million), and Colombia ($1.9 million).

Apocolypse was the abosulte goofiest Xmen has ever been - I loved it.
Every over the top sequence, Quicksilver saving the mansion, Angel getting reborn to "The four horsemen", Magento smashing that giant X in front of Apocolypse, all those out of no where gorey scenes.

The perfect homage to 80s Xmen, and it also felt like something new and different from MCU and DC

One thing that surprised me positively is that the movie was really light-hearted. I expected a grimdark edgy destruction porn.

Like I said before, if Apocalypse didn't have such a goofy expression on his face the scene would have been much better. For those who don't know, right after this .webm cuts off Apocalypse causes the ground to encase Quicksilver's foot and then he breaks the other leg. It would have been an amazing scene except that they decided to have apocalypse going all derpy lips and eyes while getting punched.

I dont see how they are competing with each other than box office.

The only 2 similar movies are CW and Apocalypse in the way they are regular superhero campy movies.

Deadpool is more of a comedy. As a superhero/action movie is really forgettable and the villain has no presence and its very forgettable. Its like I dont know...Zoolander with gore. Its fine for a comedy. But its not a good action movie.

And BvS...BvS. I dont know what it tried to be. A super serious approach? Tried to be the watchmen of Batman and Superman? Whatever BvS was in no way in the same category of movie as Xmen or CW.

>>
>>83034900
The news footage of the 1973 attack on the White House is used in schools to inform people about the existence of mutants; both bad (Magneto who tries to kill Nixon) and good (Mystique who stopped Mags). Mystique is idolized by a lot mutant kids for that sacrifice of revealing her true self to the world.

Ironically, having her true form broadcast worldwide, eliminates Mystique's privacy and threatens her safety. So, she minimizes showing her true blue form even/especially around other mutants.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created a "How the Superheroes Actually Work" book way back when. In it they went into insane details, like how wolverine had to have those metal claw sheaths to prevent sepsis. In that book they detail how Quicksilver's bones are stronger than conventional metals and how his tendons are actually somehow stronger than steel but more elastic than any form of rubber at the perfect ratio to allow him to move that fast and turn on a dime without snapping something or breaking a bone. They even mentioned how his cartilage and bone marrow have some kind of shock absorbing mutation in them to keep his bones from shattering or his organs getting liquified from the high vibration buildup from long distance running.

That was back in the day, now they have just built up on that with lots of layers of BS 'SCIENCE!' that doesn't even try to explain shit.

And how am I a drone, I'm making fairly well supported observations and discussing rationally with you where as you have done nothing but throw insults and find any excuse to back-peddle on having an actual discussion about these movies.

Civil War was a box office success, a critical success, a pop culture success, got people interested and excited about who-gives-a-fuck-characters like Black Panther & Ant-Man.

Apocalypse has yet to show how it's faired against Angry Birds, people are facepalming about the effects & costumes and the movies has literally squandered not only one of the most signiture X-Men villains, but squandered a whole slew of other characters they couldn't be bothered to make relevant in the movie they appear in or at least have a prominantly featured role.

The MCU is creating a brand, they are creating interest in characters people never gave a fuck about before. DCEU is pushing people away from the DC brand with ham-fisted Bat marketing & grimderp symbolism. And X-Men is just treading water right where it was at in 2000.

Im not sure what MCUcks are complaining about, this is literally the most lighthearted, colorful and fun X men movie to date. Literally like the 90s cartoon came to life. Are they still complaining about costumes? Or just cherry picking comic book accuracy? Because last time I checked their heroes are very losely based on the comic books other than the costumes...

First class.

Also, people are getting tired of the X-movies promise "next time is the time we have the proper X-men you guys!" every single movie.

Heck, it's only in the third act of the third movie that Xavier gets bald AND wheelchair-bound. Beast still hasn't been blue full time (or even look as good as the first time he showed up), cyclops still isn't leading anything, Magneto is YET AGAIN the only villain of note.
