Bubbline is a cheap lipstick lesbian relationship in 2016. It would have been edgy around say 2001 or so, but 2006 and later, it feels very ho hum, snore.

The creators added it to be "progressive" and it shows.

Here's a hint to all the writers out there: Try writing slice of life homosexuals into your stories. You know, people with real vices as well as virtues. Terri Moore of Strangers in Paradise got pretty close with his characters. They were too Soap Opera and depressing though.

How do you tell if your homo character is fake as hell? Simple. If they are too bubbly, happy and "Oh my god I'm so fucking queer," it's fake.

If they are all tee hee, I'm so pretty and normal and just happen to like the opposite sex, it's fake.

If it has flaws as well as virtues, has depth and complex emotions and beliefs that we're not cut out of the advice column from the news paper, It's real.

AT is a bit shallow of a show so it's not a great example. PB and Marcy act more like loners who used to be friends and it is hinted that they are or have been gay. That is probably because it is marketed to kids though. (I got bored of AT in general mid season 6 so I have not seen the new stuff.) Still it is the show I have watched most since I got bored with Criminal Minds. Before that, Law and Order SVU was the main one I watched.

The bubbline feels very fake to me like some writers desperately trying to say "See Homos are just as normal as you." They don't put in the darker sides (mental struggles, self destructive behavior, abuse) of the homo scene because no one would be accepting of it.

Again, AT is not the show to show all that, but the "homos are just like everyone else" message sticks out when the bad sides of the scene almost never make the TV in any form.

(Angels In America has some of the bad sides of homo living it. It also has deep characters. The first three hours of it are especially good dramatic acting.)

Hard to say. I got bored in Mid Season 6 like I said above. In my reply to the other poster I mentioned that I used to watch Criminal Minds and Law and Order SVU a lot.

The term I use to describe TV show fatigue is Law and Order syndrome. That means something like Once you have seen between 50 to 100 episodes of series, you have see all the plot twists. The details change every episode but everything begins to feel like a retread.

Season 6 had higher highs but also lower lows, while season 7 is more toned down and moderated. In general my distaste comes from a different take on the whole show that started nearly around season 4, not a fan of the too heavy direction this show took around that season.

They are about equal in quality but season 7 has a lot of new blood which is helping keep things fresh and the show got its head out of its ass.

It's hard to invest in adventure time threads nowdays, since its mostly waifus and fat fucking titties edition. But it's /coh/, I come here for mega links mostly.

Relationships are great adventure, probably the kind of adventure that is most commonly available in the modern world, and a good addition to any story if done right. And so far it was done right, I can't blame the authors for what they did with FP arc. I remember the sweetness of her good episodes, it was also very true, very believable, it was the genuine first time Finn wasn't wrong about someone liking him in romantic way. And I was fucking horrified at how the things turned out in the end, *that time* when by his own doing he ruined everything. I was in grief, really. Some people never got over this grief, they hated AT, the authors, and especially FP ever since.

But all this - it was part of the story. It is also very very accurate, because life is full of shit like this. And things were [i]supposed[/i] to take a spiral down. It set the mood, and we had a chain of beautiful dark episodes after that, stuff like Lemonhope and whole season 6.

It was a troubling period, but Finn actually came out calmer, bolder, less intense, less twitchy when it comes to relationships. In all ways he matured.

I considered FP arc to be tied up with huntress wizard - "attraction comes and goes, no use fighting it", "we are beautiful special beasts, but that comes at a price, we can't be content in love, it's the secret of normal people".

So I'm genuinely looking forward to this episode, it should give me more to think about - and not me alone - because the OP's sketch focuses on what bothers people about FP the most.
