I love both DC and Marvel characters, and as much as I'm looking forward to this movie, I feel really bad for fellow Batman and/or Superman enthusiasts.
>>
>>82289683
They deserve it for allowing Snyder to do what he did to Superman.
>>
>only 2 IPs
>me and the butthurt mcufag
>>
>>82289683
I got to agree with there. Blame Warner Bros, DC and Synder for fucking up this badly.
>>
>>82289697
This.
Anyone who willingly defends a dickhead like Snyder deserves to get shit on
>>
>>82289664
>and people say Marvel-bias doesn't exist

This.
This just proves it.

I dare you to fucking say it doesn't.
>>
>>82289697
From rumor of the disagreement they had on MoS I get the feeling even Nolan tried to stop him but even he did not have enough pull to do so. I can't imagine anyone under him pulling it off.

I can't say it was fated to happen but I feel, much like Blade Trinity with Goyer, once it was happening there was really no stopping it until it came to its conclusion and everyone could see for themselves it was a mistake.
>>
>>82289770
Have you seen the film?
>>
>>82289683
Why would you feel bad? I loved MoS and I loved BvS.

But Superman fans have been trying to get rid of Snyder since MoS
>>
>>82289770
Or you know maybe it's because civil war was a much better film
There might be some rating it higher then it should be because it's refreshing quality after the shit of BvS but it's still a far better movie.
>>
>>82289770
Or maybe its just a good film that people enjoyed watching
>>

Good job, OP. You posted this image after a good 50 reviews.

I watched the film yesterday with friends. It was disappointing. 98% score made me want something more.

>From rumor of the disagreement they had on MoS I get the feeling even Nolan tried to stop him but even he did not have enough pull to do so. I can't imagine anyone under him pulling it off.
Not like anyone above him can get him off the projects either. WB were stupid enough to give the reins to the Snyder's production company. They allowed their properties to get ransomed out instead of doing it in-house
>>
>>82289845
It's at 51 reviews dude, that's not a tiny samplesize where any major plummeting could still happen. At most it could fall ~5-10%.
>>

As much as your entitled opinion it doesn't change the fact that it's universally panned and wasn't as successful as WB/DC wanted.

I didn't hate it either but it didn't do good. I can accept that.
>>
>>82289931
98% RT score doesn't mean the movie is rated as being a 9.8/10 nearly perfect movie. It means 98% of the reviews were positive, meaning anything between 70-100.
>>
>>82289931
This. I'm not even going to watch it a second,d time now
>>
I wonder if this will have a TDKR effect where it's loved for the first couple of months and then immediately drops off and becomes the most hated one of the trilogy by a mile.
>>
>>82290023
But everyone always thought TDKR was the weakest film
>>
>>82290023
Most people don't even consider this a real Captain America movie, so no, they probably won't compare it to the other 2 movies at all. It's more likely to be compared to the Avengers movies and I really doubt it's worse than AoU.
>>
>>82289980
Sure, it wasn't as successful as WB/DC wanted, but what really was the cause behind that? Because from what I saw in theaters, twice might I add, was a pretty solid movie that had some flaws, but nothing that deserved to be universally panned as it did. Regardless, I'm still excited for the R-rated version/Director's Cut and can't wait for Suicide Squad, Justice League, and Wonder Woman down the pipeline.

>>
>>82289664
The movie was actually amazing.
>>
>>82290074
No one is really having company wars. The reason BvS is so viscerally hated is BECAUSE it fucking destroyed characters we loved. Not only did it destroy them in the movie, it ruined them on screen for the foreseeable future because BvS is the foundation of the DCEU.

The fighting you see comes from traumatized fans wrongly channeling their hurt into reflexive defense of the movie, which is a natural but terrible fan instinct.
>>
>>82290121

The cause of it was what people held as their opinion. Just as you have yours and you enjoyed it. 30 percent of the people who saw BvS enjoyed it. You're simply part of that 30%.

That's really what tomatoes reads as. This amount of people liked it and this many people didn't. It's not a quality gauger which LOADS of people see it as, you get me?

I just don't understand why people can't accept that. That's why people bang on about DC fans being so intolerable. Because they feel like they are being victimised and flogged by the world. It comes across as megalomaniac.
>>
>>82289809
Then you're a bad person.

But luckily, you don't actually like those movies.

What you like are Batman and Superman, and so you feel the need to defend things they're in. You don't have to, anon. Those characters are great and enduring and don't need every appearance defended.

MoS and BvS were garbage without value. Admit the truth to yourself and be free.
>>
>>82290197
Went in Zootopia blind and had a really great time. I swear I'm skipping trailers and shit like that now because most of the time it kind of ruins the movie for me.

>>82290198
Zemo really was surprisingly great. Best MCU villain for me so far since he did a lot of things without having to use powers. Good wrap up about revenge in the end too.
>>
>>82289683
NEVER blame fans for loving what they love, blame instead Warner Brothers for not bringing better movies to the table. We get lots of grear TV and cartoons, but they keep shitting up the films.
>>
>>82290198

>>
>>82290056
>pretty solid movie that had some flaws

It was shit. Giving it a 2/10 is being too good with that movie.

The initial scenes could have been played in any order. Batman motives are completely twisted. Superman barely speaks so the shambling premise of the movie doesn't fall apart. Most of the action scenes are atrocious. Lex Luthor is a fucking joke - he's a CEO who can't even speak to people. Superman dies in this movie and no-one cares.

Why people defend this shit is beyond me, but go ahead.
>>
No spoilers please, how good is zemo? Is he competent or is he a one and done villian like we were worried he would be
>>
>>82290056
> but what really was the cause behind that?

The movie being a dumpster fire, a cinematic abortion with no redeeming qualities?

Right, the exact opposite of BvS.

The problem is BvS fails as a movie. It has terrible dialogue, pacing, editing, etc. It's a jumbled mess. Motivations aren't clear, the premise doesn't make sense, the action scenes aren't even very good.

It fails on every level as a film, and that's before you get to its failure as an adaptation of the characters.

Done with everything, I give up. There's no justice in the world.

This movie is definitely not as great as everyone's saying, it has a bunch of flaws, and yet all these people are saying it's literally the best superhero movie of all time, and saying Batman v Superman is worse than Batman and Robin, when that was as bad either. If anything, both these movies are on the same tier, though both have different types of flaws that put them there. So instead of acting like that, everyone makes this about company wars. I never even gave a shit about Marvel until it was like I was forced to pick a side.

Let's just pick a few examples:

Despite tracking the ship he'd been searching for to Lexcorp and coming to a Lexcorp facility to steal it, he somehow doesn't realize Luthor is behind it all.

He fires tracers at the truck carrying the kryptonite...then attacks the truck, almost destroying it and the tracer.

He's fooled by some shitty scribbles on the returned checks from that wheelchair guy. Doesn't follow up on that, doesn't investigate.

Every step of the movie requires Batman to be a fucking retard.

He wants to kill Superman because if there's a 1% chance of him going out of control he must take it as absolute certainty that he will, at the same time he is COMPLETELY OUT OF CONTROL branding people and getting them killed in prison and mowing criminals down with machine guns. And no, it's not ok because they're criminals: that's not how the law and society works.

And at the end he doesn't impale him because their moms have the same name. This shit wouldn't fly anywhere. Just imagine that shit in a movie not called Batman vs Superman.

Superman just appeared out of fucking nowhere.

There is no telling how many beings like him can exist out there, and how many of those would want to destroy Humanity the way Zod and his crew wanted.

So even if the 1% chance of the benevolent godlike character going apeshit is so important, consider what the chance is of someone coming along that only this benevolent godlike character can deal with.

Why does every single review for Civil War compare it to BvS? They are nothing alike.
>>
>>82290675
No stakes. It felt like another cookie cutter Marvel film just to fit their success formula rather than try something interesting. I feel like if you've seen one Marvel movie, you've seen them all. Also, the airport fight that everyone is raving about wasn't really that fantastic, it was a little boring to watch except with the bits with Ant-Man. And Spiderman just felt like he was forced in just so they could show off "Hey we got Spiderman back!" rather than actually try to make him a character. And like most Marvel villains, Zemo was extremely forgettable, and seemed like wasted potential.

Not to mention, like most other Marvel movies, and like what people are saying, I don't like that all most of the films seem to do is set up for the next one, before attempting to accomplish much in their own movie. Not to mention the constant flashbacks or they hammering up in your head MARTHA every time they can prior to the fight.

But "poor execution" doesn't quite save it, it was a shitty copout of the fight, instead of writing a mature scene about them overcoming their difference it only ends because of the name gimmick, not to mention the man who was about to murder Superman 10 minutes ago now proclaims to be a friend of his, and the idiotic fact that Lois farts and superman comes to her rescue in a blink, yt he's uncapable of doing the same to save the mother who raised him from some lowlife armed thugs,

They should have had Bruce be about to kill Supes with the spear, but he can't bring himself to break his moral code, not even in this situation. (This would, of course, require the movie to have not set up Batman as a murder earlier).

Bruce moves to restrain Supes with the kryptonite keeping him weak. Superman sees that Batman isn't the psychopath he thought, and tells him Lex has his mom. Bruce realizes Supes isn't the menacing alien god he thought, and agrees to help.

Anon I liked the movie but I feel like it didn't deserve that amount of praise. It rehashed a lot of things from the first trilogy.

There is a difference between being contrarian, and criticizing something you like so it can improve.
>>
The two biggest things they did wrong with BvS were getting Snyder and basically saying "Wow look at all these other people Luthor somehow knows about!" with the intent of shoehorning all of them into one movie. DC is too late to the party to do what Marvel's been doing with solo movies so now they have to cobble them all together.

At this point I just want cape movies to die
>>
>>82290810
>It felt like another cookie cutter Marvel film just to fit their success formula rather than try something interesting. I feel like if you've seen one Marvel movie, you've seen them all.
Literally none of this is actual criticism, you're throwing out buzzwords hoping they sound condescendingly dismissive enough to give your very vague view the illusion of analytical credence.

Your mention of Marvel's business practices also is tangential and doesn't address the issues you had with the movie proper. Saying this character's inclusion felt like something yet failing to explain how or why conveys very little and convinces of less. The problem here actually isn't your opinion but your inability to express it in any worthwhile way. For two posts you've said nothing at length, about both CW and BvS at that, yet felt the need to say a lot of it.

>both these movies are on the same tier
How?
>both have different types of flaws that put them there
How?
I couldn't care less about the companies and franchises, but if you feel confident enough to say something about any media you should be capable enough to elaborate. This applies to everyone.

I don't recall that line but I must be honest that I tune out the film a lot to try and enjoy it. Usually works with the TF films but this films action scenes were so garbage it just proved to me Zack can only copy fight scenes from other sources not create his own.
Don't get me wrong it's a great technical skill to take still images and make a 1 for 1 live action scene from it but it doesn't make you a good director/writer.
>>
>>82291515
She wouldn't trust Batman because he just tried to kill Supes. Throwing it in some water seems to me a good way for NOBODY to find it, to me. The bigger problem is, to me, is how Superman was able to infer what she was doing or that the spear was underwater without her communicating that to him.

I disagree, it's not like there's some kryptonite tracking device. If she throws it at the bottom of a lake she'd be the only one to know where it is unless someone accidentally bumps into it. It's like that time in the Freeza Saga where Vegeta hides the Dragon Balls at the bottom of a lake and it would've worked except Gohan had a Dragon Ball radar. But in a world with no kryptonite radar... phtt, seems like a good plan to me.
>>
>>82290947
When guys like that say "no stakes" they mean a few hundred people aren't dying in the background every minute. A body count is the metric by which they determine drama. Snyder's movies are epic and high stakes because collateral damage and a bunch of props might get blown up.

>The quality of tentpole movies has gotten very good and very competitive over the last couple years. Because of social media and the discussion that happens there, the audience has gotten a stronger collective sense of taste and you're dead at 6 p.m. on Friday if you didn't make a good movie. And they're starting to champion more radical storytelling.

>Deadpool's a great example of that. I mean, holy shit, $750 million worldwide? For our part, when we finished Winter Soldier two years ago and we were thinking about doing the next one, the only thing that seemed interesting to us was to deconstruct the Marvel Universe — because where else can we go at this point? Civil War isn't even out yet
>>
I just don't get it

Batman v Superman actually took RISKS, it tried to do something different for once and aim a mostly mediocre genre of movies to a higher audience, it tried to achieve something to further the medium and the standard of movies today, and all it gets is nothing but shit left and right.
And here we are, we get another Marvel movie, with the same premise, same characters, same story, same pacing, same cause and effects each and every one of its movies have been having for nearly a decade now, and everyone is praising it like its the next coming of Jesus.

I just want movies to be good, and we had it, but we just turned our backs on it. Why?

BvS is in my opinion a masterpiece. Now to the average moviegoer I can understand why they would come away thinking it was bad. The film is highly kinetic and allegorical. You're supposed to think beyond the images presented on the screen. For example, the scene in which Lex presents the jar of piss to the Senator represents so much more than what is on screen. The jar of piss is Lex's vision of Superman. It has been dressed up as "Granny's Peach Tea" just as Superman has been packaged as an All-American symbol of freedom and justice. But beneath the veneer it smells of piss. But to the average moviegoer, they will look at this scene and say "HAHA! PISS BOTTLES EWWWW" with no regard for the greater motivations and images portrayed in this character drama.

Now, the reason I am worried is because WB now believes that this type of intellectually stimulating and philosophically moving cinematography is not appreciated by the masses. The masses want quips, explosions, smart-alecks, jock, stereotypes, punchy punchy boom boom. The masses can't comprehend Snyder's masterfully crafted Biblical symbolism.

The masses want Marvel.

And this wouldn't be a problem, since this is a consumer market. I can choose to buy my authentic imported biscotti instead of that artificial Oreo's nonsense. But the problem is if the biscotti manufacturers suddenly looked at Oreo's sales and said "hey, we need to start pumping our biscotti full of garbage artificial cream!"

So what is everyone's speculation on the RDJ situation.
It's pretty obvious that Chris Evans is being set up to be replaced by Sebastian Stan, but it's also highly likely that after Infinity War they're going to cut out RDJ, relegating him to at most cameos.

Of course WB ultimately let him direct, but Snyder is simply garbage. Everything he's ever done is worthless shit, and ABSOLUTE BEST he's ever achieved is mediocrity.

He was the one who insisted Superman kill in MoS, despite Nolan, Goyer, and fucking everyone else telling him not to:

>In the original version of the script, he just got zapped into the Phantom Zone. David [S. Goyer] and I had long talked about it, and Chris [Nolan] and I talked long about it. And I was like, “I really think he should kill Zod, and I really feel like Superman should kill him.”

>This account is backed up by Goyer, who, in the same podcast, said that Nolan told them there was no way they could have that ending. He flat out told them not to write it. Goyer added that they talked to people at DC who told them “No way. No way.”

Batman's seems to being doing fine tho. He was the only thing most people liked about the movie. His cameo in SS looks to be one of the best parts of the film and he has based Affleck directing his standalone movie. Batman will be only saving grace of the DCEU.

Superman is the one that is unfortunately fucked.

>Snyder sat down with Forbes to discuss how the Caped Crusader became such a huge part of the Man Of Steel sequel, suggesting that while Batman was on the table, no one involved were directly planning on going to Gotham. Snyder says that Batman's name was casually floated -- "Maybe at the end of the second movie, some Kryptonite gets delivered to Bruce Wayne’s house or something." -- but the wheels quickly turned. He spoke about questioning who Superman should fight next, and how to follow Zod...

>The problem is, once you say it out loud, then it’s kind of hard to go back, right? Once you say, "What about Batman?" then you realize, "Okay, that’s a cool idea. What else?" I mean, what do you say after that? …But I’m not gonna say at all that when I took the job to do Man of Steel that I did it in a subversive way to get to Batman. I really believe that only after contemplating who could face [Superman] did Batman come into the picture.

Batman's no-kill code is a defining part of his character, and most especially in his incarnations in the last 15 years that modern audiences know (the Nolan films, the Arkham games).

I guarantee you if Affleck's Batman solo does come out, he won't be killing or branding anyone because that was ridiculed.

I don't think Apocalypse will bomb. Apocalypse will be to the Xmen what Thanos is to the MCU. Hell, I waited YEARS for an Apocalyspe movie.

But.... I do want a Secret Wars movie. And I think there are heads, on both Fox and Marvel, who got the right idea. Fox does some have right heads - otherwise, there would be no Deadpool and Days of Future Past.

What I really want is a Secret War movie. The ultimate Marvel movie, that has the Avengers and Xmen working together. A one time deal that celebrates what Marvel is all about. Before the Xmen and Avengers return to their respective univese.

If they can work out THAT deal.....

I thought that this and BvS were both gonna hit around 70%. It might have just been wishful thinking, but I genuinely thought from the trailers that BvS had finally learned to curtail Zack's worst habits and got some legitimately intelligent writing in their films.

I also thought that the early trailers for Civil War made the action (especially in the airport fight) look pretty lifeless and stale. From what I'm hearing, it really isn't.
