Isn't it weird how there are basically only 3 core villains in a show where teams of 4 are the norm?

Cinder, Emerald and Mercury all seem to be staples of the team.
But then you have Roman, who always seemed like an outsider to them and now he's dead anyway.
Neo is appears to be Roman's assistant, but she was the one working with the other three in the tournament. Also her character wasn't planned out from the beginning so her future role in things is questionable.

A gradual change over time, while he shoots for a goal that would otherwise be impossible.

Ever play Shadow of the Colossus? The main character wants to bring back this girl he's into from the dead or whatever.
Im order to do this, he needs to slay a bunch of these giant monsters.
The more of them he kills, the more apparent it is that the Collosi are good creatures, and this kid is driving them to extinction in order to get his dick wet.

In the end, he succeds, but at this point he's so corrupted that he's barely even human anymore.
The girl is revived, but the hero succumbs to his own sins and dies.

A similar journey is something I can see for Jaune. Fighting for something important, and having him succeed, only to have it consume him in the end.
Sad, and bittersweet. Just like the real Joan of Arc's life and end.

Lazerteam may have been fun for RT fans but as a standalone comedy movie it wasn't that good, the same might go for RWBY. It doesn't matter if the second half of volume 3 improved in quality overall it was pretty "eh...better than volume 1 and 2".

Speaking generally, I saw potential in the fact she left behind the white fang when it turned nasty, and we'd eventually see her come to accept that it really isn't any good anymore [she was still clinging to hope for it it seems]. But mostly, I saw the fact there was a more light-hearted side of her that would have made her character far more likable if it was given proper attention in the writing, as well as the fact that if her cowardice was brought up as a genuine recognised flaw and worked on with her friends [or Sun, hey, maybe give the poor guy a purpose in the plot again] then it would have greatly improved her character too.
