How is it bait? I complemented it on it's brilliant atmosphere because that's the one thing it truly excels at. Aku is an inconsistent villain, (why didn't he just instant teleport Jack at the very beginning? If he can instant-teleport people, why can't he just instant-kill them?

Man, I really tried to get into this how. So many people seemed to love it so much, but having watched the first 5 episodes, I can't see where all the love is coming from.

The action is all boring, cutaway garbage, the jokes/gags aren't particularly funny, and the plot doesn't seem to have too much to it so far.

Like, does it get better? Is there more to it than just nostalgia for babby's first action cartoon?

I'm honestly asking here, not trying to bait or anything. What's the appeal?

Really, I think it's this. I've given this cartoon three chances. When it was initially airing, again with a boyfriend, and once more recently to see if perhaps my perspective of it has changed over the years.

It definitely has it's moments, but it's far from being a god-send or monumental. The best aspect is Kevin Michael Richardson and Mako's acting.

Like, if you just replaced all the gear splatter with blood splatter, the fights are still framed blandly and with as little animation as possible.

So far, no one's actually responded to me with why they liked it.

Those are both solid bands too. You can actually like all those bands. They have solid creative visions they explore through their music, they make competent songs within their respective genres, and they all perform well live. I'm personally an Opera and Rock guy, so stadium rock bands like Queen will appeal to me naturally, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the work The Residents or Animal Collective do, particularly in exploring surrealism through live performance.

That hurt his vocal chords and is why he'd tire in long live performances quickly, and wouldn't hit those notes consistently through a night.

Why are people bitching about the intro to this extent? Yeah the song itself isn't that good, but first of all, it's a damn kid's show. And second, I think it helps set up a certain mood.

I don't really like SJ that much, though. It had a couple of great episodes (such as the Tale of X-9 one), but it felt over-reliant on style rather than substance. I'm glad to finally get to admit this on /co/. Normally people would be spamming bait images if I ever dared criticize their childhood cartoon.
