Hello Storyteller.

>Karla in the Binary outfit
While I'm vaguely aware that Moonstone is a Ms./Captain Marvel villain, I have no idea what the context of her wearing the Binary costume is. Considering it's Karla, I can only imagine it was to fuck with Carol.

It's an odd format, you'd think separately four minis would probably sell more than one oversized anthology would

at least they weren't just cancelled outright like I was assuming they were going to do to Sugar & Spike at the very least

I am slightly concerned that they're heading towards Zero Hour 2.0, if they want to do continuity clean up since apparently a lot of readers actually prefer tighter continuity and there's a spare Parallax around

And now, a very nice explanatory final note.

Thanks for reading, owls. Tomorrow we're basically going to rewind to Ellisbolts and read through until we get to where we started, with some "gems" tucked into the middle

I don't either but apparently the "story over continuity" declaration just made most people extremely confused and I saw people asking various places nearly every day about how can Batman be Bruce in Justice League and Jim in Batman ???? and apparently they don't like "it doesn't matter" as an answer, and then I started hearing that a lot of people are grumbly about Marvel's time skips and SW delays
>>
>>78112334
It's a sliding scale. New readers want continuity but are scared shitless of it. Longer-term readers filter into "only the best stories become canon" and MUH CANON.

My first comic was CoIE, I don't really care what continuity is doing unless it blows up good shit from the previous run I liked.
>>

The delays I understand getting mad about.

Also Secret Wars 9 is at the printer, it exists! Our nightmare is almost over

>>
>>78112639
At the time, there was thought it might get shitcanned in the middle of the time travel arc, and for a while, it looked hopeless before Jive-Thing woke up. Knowing the story ends properly (enough) makes it way easier to shotgun.

But sure, E2 Namek is a whole 'nother thing.
>>
>>78112695
If you haven't read Ostrander Suicide Squad you should. It's less fantastic and definitely grittier, but there is an undercurrent of humor and a ton of strong personalities and relationships.
>>
>>78112695
Parker is pretty consistent with being able to bake in light-hearted stuff into the overarching themes of the given thing he's writing. If that's part of the appeal, almost any of his runs on IP You Like are good.

Marvel Adventures is G-rated, Agents of Atlas is less dark than this but similar, Aquaman has Mera hitting on Arthur's mom good genes, Batman '66 is gloriously silly, he has Marvel Romance Redux issues and that shit is comedy gold, and folks in this thread seemed to like She-Rulk.
>>
>>78112842
And JLU, of course. Less criminals, but more extremely well-used characters. Everyone's got a role.

Things I remembered this morning:

Sarah Monette's "Doctrine of Labyrinths" series is gay and has a lot of filth and angst; also her "Companion to Wolves" with Elizabeth Bear is something that an older gay guy I know who's not really a fantasy reader absolutely loved, couldn't believe it was written by two women.

The hivemind also says:

>Nor Iron Bars A Cage: http://www.amazon.com/Iron-Bars-Cage-Kaje-Harper-ebook/dp/B00FNXC8EU/

>Not superfilthy, but filled with hurt/comfort and has some nice worldbuilding.

>Also, if you're willing to accept batshit M/M shapeshifter stuff, there's a WORLD of filthy gay fiction out there.

so what happened to gunna ghost boomer and satana?
were they in other books instead of this one or just disappeared?
>>
>>78123595
Boomer went on to be the star of Superior Foes of Spider-Man, which if you haven't read go read it like now

I don't think Gunna's been in anything since, which is a pity.

Ghost was in The Amazing Spider-Man (2014) #16-18

Satana was in the Hell on Earth finale arc of X-Factor

After reading this, somehow this story arc and old man logan seems like a proto battleworld or some inspirations.
I bet there are other stories with heroes building a faction, battle another, i guess.
But these remind me strong of Battleworld event.

>>78124211
At first i didnt care, but i grew to like the "dark" avengers.
I think its the writing.
>>
>>78126064
the writing is good, but it just makes me feel disappointed that it's wated on characters I don't care about.
>>
>>78126223
And its Ok.
Can understand you.
Im not so much character focused and if the character is interesting written, im ok.
But i dont mean that my or your seeing or reading story is superior or not. Its just different likings.
>>
>>78110867
>Puny A.I.M. faggot
>>
>>78126498
Oh, I'm not character focused either. I don't read much comics. Before reading this series of storytimes I only knew of Luke Cage because of Alias and Juggernaut because of the X-men.
It's more about the type of character. The avengers/Darkengers are too much the typical badass-posing tough-talking heros.
The Thunderbolts were all broken people and it wass a varied cast of personalities that made their interactions more interesting to me.
Or maybe it's because I got to see them being introduced and growing as a group together while the Dark Avengers as I understand appeared in another run before, so they were kind of dropped in the book as an already formed team.
>>
Something that also occurs to me is how Parker didn't really break any of the toys. Fixer's stuck in the time loop, which is pretty horrifying, and yet someone who wants to use him again could easily write him escaping it somehow, that's comics. He wrote the issue where John Walker was badly injured (end of Siege), but then got his limbs back by the end of the run without resorting to too much bullshit. I appreciate that kind of thing.
>>
>>78123558
...How batshit? Sex with animal-like anatomy? Simulated bestiality? Erotic tax accounting?

He's an alien, who knows how crazy different ages/biology work for him
>>
>>78128399
It's complicated. He was hatched out of an eggy thing way after his mom died, came out old enough to talk, and I think has continued to age since.

He's not exactly a tween/teenager, definitely not adult, and overall pretty immature. More immature in the toddler sense than teenager. Even though he's intelligent enough and semi-socialized, sometimes he can act with nuance, other times he's got almost childlike sociopathy.
>>
>>78127930
>Hawkeyes brother,
arrow and bow guys are the worst thing in cape comics.
It's totally ridiculous, but not in a campy way like electrified boomerangs, no, it has that whole tryhard cool guy vibe to it that it ruins any story they're in.
And the excuse"but it's comic books it doesn't have to be realistic" doesn't fly. It works when it's over the top ridiculous, like killing people with poker cards or using electric boomerangs, or those ridiculous comic book guns, but bows are too grounded in reality for it to work.

She's got a few. There's the Centurion, the Destructor, the Doomsday Man, Deathbird, and Mystique from her original series. She's had Head Case, Dr. Minerva, Moonstone, and an evil alternate version of herself introduced since then. You could probably count Suprema since she started masquerading as Ms. Marvel. So she has a few.
