an anon drew this for me last night and it makes me incredibly happy
so I'm going to share it
thanks again /co/mrade
it was the highlight of my shitty week by far
Good evening folks, last night's "Name That Obscure Christmas Carol" seemed to go over well, so I've got a few more lined up for you guys tonight.
Again, guess all four songs correctly and I'll buy something from your list!
I just did a run through an update of the pastebins, mostly just adding a few new lists.
We are at 75 ungifted (not counting the 4 needing addresses) and 65 gifted. That's a 46% rate of gifting.
Eh no need to be sorry, just that it was requested by some to have Christmas somewhere in the OP and another anon made a thread thinking there weren't any this year because he couldn't find the thread. It's why I added Christmas Cheer to the subject for the last thread I did.
Once again, props to your music playing. Good stuff.
Every time I hear piano music I start wishing I could play. Seems like a nice skill to have.
I remember back in library school one day we had a music librarian come talk to our class and she showcased one of those old print books that helps you identify songs just based on the pattern of the first few notes. I was really wanting that last night when I couldn't name Song #4.
I am incredibly, embarrassingly tone deaf.
Oh boy! A new thread to post my code in! 297MIGOM4JLT0
So, /co/, tell me, what's your fondest Christmas memory? It could be a great dinner, a present you got, a Christmas stage show, or just any small memory from Christmas time that you hold dear to your heart.
Also, have this gem I found while perusing the internet.
You can actually lean it as rhythm. If you can lean to type without looking at the keyboard then you can lean to play piano pretty well. Though being tone deaf would hinder you appreciation of the result.
Awww shit son. How close are we to taking over 4chan, sir?
I am in the Tuscarawas area. I'm drifting between here and rewatching Daredevil.
Whereabouts on the coast? I'm in Coastal VA and just drove up that way for a conference a few weeks ago.
I know it's heresy, but I really don't like Alex Ross art. Like, I totally appreciate the technical skill, but it doesn't work for me as comic book art.
Which reminds me sometime this year I should storytime that Superman Peace on Earth story he did.
On Monday 12/7/15 at 12:00 PM PST and 6:00 PM PST
I'll be streaming the horrid train wreck that is The Star Wars Holiday Special. I don't know what the streaming site will be but if anyone has a suggestion of a good free streaming site please let me know.
Once I have a link for the stream I'll post it in the threads and I'll toss the link at the bottom of the pastebins.
I gotta call it a night, later my cheerful /co/mrades
Alright, dang it, let's do it.
A tale of snowy horror.
It's pretty alright, although only one has my heart...but I've gushed about that one in previous threads haha
Bruh I'm in Northern VA, do you go to Awesome Con?
Same question to you!
This reminds me, where's Christmas Robin?
wouldn't call it my fondest, but it's the first one that comes to mind, and I think it's best expressed in greentext.
>I'm constantly losing pens/pencils at school
>My stepmother is an absolutely wonderful Slovak woman
>she says to me that one day she's going to get me a buttload of pens
>about eight months later christmas rolls round
>little kid me races downstairs, everything's dandy, tree's rammed with stuff including one huge box.
>I open all the presents and it's one hell of a haul - games and albums up the wazoo.
>save the huge box 'till last.
>open it, expecting something amazing
>it's a big unmarked cardboard box
>it's shockingly light
>open it anyway
>there is absolutely nothing there except an asda-brand 50-pack of pens.
words cannot describe the crushing disappointment and acute sense of comeuppance I felt that day.
Christmas Robin hasn't made an appearance as of yet, sadly.
Nope. I just moved up here in July. Never actually been to a con, though it's on my list. Is Awesome Con worth it?
Whereabouts are you? One of my best friends is in Manassas. I'd really like to be in NOVA so I can be closer to DC. But I also hate traffic, so I'm torn.
Man, don't be.
This is an open thread.
If this was my thread sure... but images don't matter
reposting my list C9GMXSMBZ145
Merry Christmas everyone! Hope today was a good day for all of you. Off-topic, but I got Guitar Hero Live today. Previous GH games on Expert used to be a cakewalk, but damn that new guitar.
Depends haha. He might be happy to do it.
I'll never not kick myself for missing J.O'Barr
I would love to get back into Guitar Hero (ironically I think being proficient at piano makes you better at the game, all the guitarists I know had trouble with it), but god damn I'd have to buy all those peripherals again.
GH3 had a bunch of overcharted bullshit, and Dragonforce in general is pretty pleb-tier as far as power metal goes, so both combined makes for some songs that are written to look more complicated than what they are. I have no idea what tack the new Guitar Hero takes in terms of charting songs.
I love that one too.
The original story is very...light and fantastical, so that adaptation captures that tone spot on
The most disappointing thing with Dragonforce is that those admittedly kind of cool and showy "two guitars in fauxbourdon 3rds/6th" passages only work in the studio, their tuning live is complete ass
It's the only conventions I make time to go to. It's less of a comic convention and more of a multimedia one but it's a blast. The panels are great, the guests are great, and it's okay on the price. I love it!
But I'm about 30 minutes out of Manassas in Winchester!
It's in June! Make time!
>star's sack of money
>the complete sheer unamausement on her face
Don't forget guys, I've got a contest running up here: >>77934350
I'll keep it running through tonight, but if it proves to be too difficult after a couple hours I'm going to start giving out hints.
Almost done with mine. Expect it tomorrow.
So when I was taking a shower after work I had a really good idea of something to add to the christmas mediafire, /co/ related Christmas radio shows. There's some Shadow, Superman, Lone Ranger and one from the Archie radio show.
Also the rest of the Christmas stuff
A Very Murray Christmas is super weird but totally worth putting on as background noise for a Christmas party, at the very least. I'm watching Bill Murray and Miley Cyrus singing a duet on "Let It Snow" right now, and I'm not sure I understand the world anymore.
That's me spent.
Time to finish up my submission.
Joyeux Noel from 3P5RFH9G03V0J .ca~!
not necessarily tied to /co/ but if there's interest I might set up a stream of the MST3K christmas episodes sometime this weekend
Are you ready for an X-Xmas?
It's Christmas and the Sentinels are back!
It's been a while since I forced myself to read Mountains of Madness, but I'm pretty sure they didn't mention anything about the Necronomicon or it's author.
Hell, I'm pretty sure they only got Cthulhu from the carvings in the city later on.
No problem man. Hope you had a better day today. Hope to have a better photo for you soon, too.
It was good until my ride home taking twice as long. Just messed up what was a pretty good day.
>Con this weekend
>Still can't go
Gotta see about those previous requests after some grub.
Man. Lovecraft would make an awesome DM.
Just look at all the crazy and interesting worldbuilding and encounters he dreamed up. Prose just wasn't his wheelhouse, especially for horror, his way of writing was too dry and technical for it.
A few years later and the muties are back for some Christmas cheer with "Demon"
Did anyone check out Robin War? Thoughts?
This issue has some great images
>70 ungifted anons
>I wish I was rich
>and I would buy everybody Eisner's A Contract With God
You have a good heart. I received it last year and it instantly became a favorite.
With Robin War do I need to read the other Robin books? Because right now all I read is Grayson.
Jean sure thinks a lot
You can read the first issue without reading the others. I'm 90% sure they're setting up this event to be able to be read in trade without reading any of the series tied-in, though obviously you'll get more out of knowing the characters and such beforehand. That said,
It wasn't a great start for the plot, but it had some fun shenanigans and it looks like there could be more ahead. And Damian was actually written well which is always a nice surprise.
Some proper horror here as well
I think I'll do one more Classic Marvel Christmas issue
"A Yuletide classic"
Merry Christmas /co/mrades!
you're right. in the original text, he mentioned star-spawn, who were worshippers of cthulhu and warred with the great old ones, and never explicitly mentioned him. the necronomicon is mentioned once or twice in the book, but here it's probably just to provide background.
In earlier threads I mentioned some unique Christmas things from here in Japan.
What are some special Christmas traditions in your countries? Does your country not celebrate Christmas?
Well, everyone knows about American Christmas from the tons of Americans talking about it, I'm sure, but one American tradition is the holiday season starting with Black Friday, where people beat the shit out of each other in stores for low prices. The sane ones make sure they've got everything they need so that they don't have to go out on the day after Thanksgiving.
>Christmas is the same every year.
It's nice seeing family but they do the same thing every year and it's really boring. My gf and I usually just go to town, because nobody's there. We just make up our own shit to do.
If I got you some things off your wishlist would you be willing to send me something unique to your country? I'd love something like that rather than a boring american gift.
Lovecraft's fear of different races breeding. I think his views on race actually make his work more interesting since it's always framed as horror, but I understand why it's the reason some people avoid him
One interesting thing with Lovecraft's fear of miscegenation is that some of it's still pretty ugly (his views on black people) and some of it strikes us now as largely ridiculous, like the terror in discovering an ancestor who was, get this...
Through amazon or find something and mail it to you in a package? I've done something like that before when Jump had the final Naruto I grabbed a copy from a newsstand and now they have a copy of the original release of Narutos final issue.
I've done it a few years and it's honestly not that bad in smaller towns, especially in recent years now that online shopping has killed the need to go to actual stores. Haven't gone in a couple years thanks to exactly that, the deals online are just as good if not better.
I actually think the ending of Innsmouth is a bad example of his racial fears, the narrator ends up pretty satisfied that he will live forever as a fishguy.
Also can't go wrong with Dunwich Horror.
That's not true, everyone gets Lovecraft's brand of racism wrong. He did not hate anyone, he just hated their culture. He didn't give a shit about anyone as long as they assimilated.
Have just been sent books, hope you guys have a Merry Christmas.
>10 dollars to ship a fucking book
Tell me about it, I miss having prime
Oh I'm not doubting his love of Anglo-Saxons but he was more of a "why are white people so great" than a "fuck darkies" kinda racist.
>tfw free prime trial initiated just in time for christmas
>Lovett-Graff details Lovecraft's dismay upon learning that he was not entirely of the teutonic lineage he loved to brag about; his great-great-grandmother was a "Welsh gentlewoman of unmixed Celtick blood." Situating Lovecraft's anxieties in an era in which the minutiae of one's ancestry was becoming a subject for increasing scrutiny in North America as well as the more known example of Germany, Lovett-Graff sees this "Celtick" ancestor as the source of no small worry for Lovecraft, who was increasingly ascribing to the theory of Aryanism at the time.
The thing I ordered said it was Prime available, but the only shipping options were super snail mail at 10 dollar increments.
Retarded. Thankfully my brother pays for Prime and I just piggyback.
Speaking of Lovecraft, anyone listen to this? The protagonist is a little annoying but the descriptions of the eldritch horrors are spot on.
Here's something a lot of people watch on Christmas Eve in Australia. Carols by Candlelight. It's been a thing for 70-80 years. 3 hours of pure Christmas carols for the whole family sung by people who might only be famous to Australians.
Here's last years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhIVXY83i9Y
The best part was getting it at half price as long as you were still taking classes. I even paid full price for a year afterwards, but now that they raised the rates to $100/yr I'm probably dropping it.
Time for some Christmas Jews! This one's for you, POFG
Imma dump some funny pictures to lighten the mood before I head to bed.
White chocolate brulee eggnog
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 cups whipping cream
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup bourbon
1/2 cup white chocolate cream liqueur (ex. Godiva)
Freshly grated nutmeg (garnish)
1. Separate yolks and whites into bowls. Whisk together yolks with 1/2 cup sugar.
2. Heat cream and milk in saucepan over med heat til steaming. Slowly whisk half the hot cream mixture into the yolk/sugar bowl, then pour the bowl into the pan with remaining cream/milk.
3. Cook for 1-3 mins over med heat til thickened, stirring frequently. Strain into large bowl/container and cool. Whisk in bourbon and white chocolate cream liqueur. Chill for 1 hour.
4. Beat egg whites with remaining 1/4 cup sugar until peaks form. Whisk egg whites into chilled liquid. Keep refrigerated.
5. Pour into cups. Before serving, use blowtorch to scorch the top of each drink. Sprinkle on nutmeg.
1.5 oz vodka
1/2 oz Cointreau
1-2 dashes Angostura bitters.
Squeeze juice from clementines into a bowl. Strain 1 oz of the juice into a cocktail shaker full of ice. Add vodka, Cointreau, and bitters. Shake, pour into coupe glass. Twist a strip of orange peel into drink to release fragrant oil. Garnish with peel strip.
I'm trying to get you something too, but there's no gift address for me to select.
I'll gift 188Z301OAJT88 for the time being until the address thing gets resolved, I'm going to bed now. Hopefully will be back to drop more gifts as the weeks go on.
Haha, I'm not gonna lie, I've listened to it 3 times already.
My Student Prime expired this year. I was hoping that since I work at a college, I could continue to skate by, but it didn't even give me the option. Oh well. I definitely make Prime worth it in the shipping savings.
Merry Xmas Boobies, it's that time again time for another Riddler Xmas Prize Puzzle Penis Pentration Extravaganza (ignore those capital letters kids, seriously those were a joke). Speaking of time what do you think of my new portrait it's got quite a festive name. Fitting don't you think?

Should be going to sleep, but I guess I'll try a bit of this before I pass out.
I did eat on Thursday since I had no work for once on Thanksgiving and it was fine. The waiting on line was boring, but since I only got for movies it worked out just fine. No fist fights, no shankings, etc.
Why he's on the naughty list.
Noooooo! No idea how to do these at all.
If nobody is around to eat up the last of the images and replies I think I'll storytime something
