There are some similarities related to Pac Rim specifically, and some that were simply referenced by both.

Only one reference can be stated as too specific to be from elsewhere. It's when McGucket is eaten but turns out to be okay. The same thing happens to the illegal kaiju dealer.

A bizarr acid trip similarity is between the kaiju Raiju. It's "face and arm inside it's face" aspect seems to be directly related to Mabel's Aoshima hallucination.

I think Aoshima the dolphin, with an arm and face inside it's face, is a psychedelic shout out to Pacific Rim and McGucket's baby pterodactyl scene is a direct reference.
