Once more, with feeling:
For those of you who weren't here the last couple of years, I did various Christmas contests and would gift someone who I arbitrarily chose as the winner. I intend to keep that tradition alive this year.
I decided to get started with a (relatively) big challenge: Write a Christmas story featuring /co/ characters. Maybe Lex Luthor decides he hates Santa because he challenges human superiority. Maybe the Flash has to sub in for Santa one night and deliver presents around the world (has that been done? That must have been done before). It doesn't have to be long, just something short and simple, but the more Christmas special-y the better. If you're a drawfag and want to draw it out instead, that's fine too.
Send your submissions to [email protected] Or you can post them in the thread, but just make sure I see them. I'll give everyone until Sunday afternoon to put something together, so don't feel rushed. At the end I'll share them with the thread and crown a winner. Make sure to include your wishlist with your submission.
This is still my favorite /co/ holiday picture. I don't know why it cracks me up so much every time.
I always forget to post this. I8ICH61R8ETZ
You know what, I'm just going to add superheroes to a christmas story I wrote when I was like 9 or 10 for the fun of it.
Looks like it's time.
Evening Holiday Speedsters, Let's read Flash 87
AKA, Christmas RUSH
Since I'm new to this, I might as well post my list. I've already gifted something for one guy, so here's hoping someone shares that sweet Christmas goodness with me!
Or don't, it's no big deal to me. It'd be nice, but don't think you have to, guys.
When I get paid tomorrow you're getting some fucking payback sdu and that's a Christmas promise.
Shameless posting 2YTJ8S13O2ILD
Half of mine are 10 dollar items but do 5 dollar or less items even exist on Amazon?
I know that feel Wally, lowest it's been is 68 here in
What is this, Gotham?
Looks like Linda's getting gifted too!
Sorry to hear that dude
I'm sure you'll find a girl who understands your use of 4chan
I was terrified when I accidentally spilled the beans about 4chan to my gf of about a year and had to explain to her it wasn't just raids and gore and cp. 4 years now
oh shit 90's assholes here to ruin christmas!
First two Anons to reply to this post with wishlists having items $5 or under (I'll forgive those with slightly over) get a gift! Don't be greedy now Batboobs!
>At least we get Shaq Fu 2?
Yes yesss at least we do.
I'm hype for that.
If you're offering to give me Wonder Woman. I already have that volume. And even if I didn't have it, I have no idea what the shipping costs would be if you weren't in australia
As a tall person myself I commend you on your taste in tall people.
leave it to Santas to be dealing snow
Hopefully Aquaman's not around there
damn Wally, you're hitting pretty close to home.
Got cut off. But storytimes are where we keep the spirit alive for the rest of the year. I know you don't need thanks for sharing someone else's work, but taking the time to spread knowledge and create a nice atmosphere is always appreciated.
Damn this ended on a way sadder note than I'd expected.
Sorry guys, next one'll be jollier I promise.
Repostin my list,
please no secret santas with cocaine
Don't mock the Shock!
Now to catch up on the posts I've missed.
Alright time for some Christmas Carol Goon style
I just finished reading volume 2 of Flash last night, which I'd been working through off and on all year. He really elevated to one of my favorite heroes. What a great character with some really great arcs.
Hey awesome christmas thread, just wanted to let you all know that tomorrow night, due to popular demand and my own sadomasochism, I'm going to be re-running TITANS: VILLAINS FOR HIRE as a storytime of pain. It's a memorable trainwreck continuing on the wonderful plot threads from Rise of Arsenal. 7 PM CST, here, on /co/.
Accidentally posted this in the old thread. WHOOPS.
This is my first time running a contest in here so let's see how this goes.
SO I really love Christmas songs, but I don't know about you guys but I get REALLY SICK of hearing the same goddamn songs over and over again on these radio stations around the holidays. So I sat down and recorded some more obscure Christmas carols and hymns and want to see how many you guys recognize.
GUESS ALL FOUR SONGS CORRECTLY AND WIN A FABULOUS PRIZE! (max $$$ limit of 40 dollars)
(It WAS going to be five songs, but fuck me that last one is proving a lot more difficult to play than I anticipated.)
Story timing is literally the most fun I have,
Scarborough Fair, a song inspired by Piano Man, I have a musical box that plays this but I don't know it's name, and I'm pretty sure I sung this for choir when I was in high school
Well I don't think I'm getting the prize but it was nice to hear christmas songs you don't hear every day in december, so thanks piano anon!
I haven't made myself get around to the original yet, wtf self, it's on Steam
Speaking of classic shit on Steam, who here wasted a shitload of their life playing ADOM way back when?
The original one was a passable puzzle platformer with really great writing and a fun setting. It wasn't the greatest thing ever but it was cool and unique and I hope they can retain that same feel with the sequel.
used stuff is ok
A Kamala Christmas!
Christ I fucking hate my camera on my phone.
I want more classic JRPGs that don't involve shitty 'skill' minigames to get the best items. I want to grind (within reason) and explore and kill shit with my party via strategy.
Wait, wrong Kamala.
I'm not known for lewds. Because I'm not good at lewds.
This was so much fun to draw. A lady gave me a dirty look on the bus while drawing, making it all the better.
I'm so awful at carrying a tune, so even when comparing songs side by side I have to be like "hang on, is this the same?"
Great piano playing, though.
The PS2 Ateliers work fine; Annie DS is also an option, and the PS3/Vita titles are hella cheap.
If Gust's Ar Tonelico games are uncomfortably lewd (but still decent or better), Atelier is pure as fresh snow.
Persona is really different from it IMO. I'm honestly not that into JRPGs. The ones I've played are probably:
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga
Persona 4 Golden
Pokemon series (if it counts)
Hellboy and christmas go together like peanut butter and marshmallow fluff
I miss storytiming hellboy, the chronological storytimes were the best thing ever.
Several of the songs I have in my Christmas hymn repertoire of the "hey let's take another older song and slap new lyrics on top of the tune".
For those of you stuck on the fourth song, you can consider that a hint.
The tune is traditionally thought to be of siciilian origin, and it was a popular Marian hymn in the Catholic church before they put different English lyrics on it to make it a "Christmas" song. In fact, it's probably still more strongly associated with the original version than the Christmas version.
¿Estás elfos listos? Es que otra vez, publicar sus listas con los objetos que cinco dólares o bajo y te regalo los dos primeros Anon Para responder a este mensaje?
And we have a winner!
Congrats Tajador, post your list and I'll get you something rad.
>tfw you havent been to church in over 2 decades so you don't know the songs
AND you're a Rider fan. Good stuff, Piano Anon.
That picture is what made Tajador my favorite.
Growing up, my mom would always play the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CDs in the car at Christmas time, so the first three are forever ingrained in my head.
Shit, I should donate my win since I've already been gifted, but I can't help but selfishly feel that I've earned this since I struggle so much with tune carrying. 3RNEI9917FCUK. But if you would prefer to go for an ungifted anon instead, I will gladly endorse that decision.
It was intended to say something along the lines of hey post your lists. I did it in Spanish for the .es wishlist posted above, but it looks like he left the thread. Have no idea what Google slapped it to. I hope the jist is there.
No idea, take your time though.
Split the difference, my boy! Half and half for you and an ungifted.
Merry Christmas guys
Also take 41XVB5DB3C2U off the list.
Tajador + Effects parts is the highlight of my figure collection. Love him. Not going to lie, though, Ghost is cutting it close. The bad belt knocks it down a peg though. Meteor is also a close second.
The spanish anon it's me, I meant to say that it was really poorly translated, but now I realized santa has elfs so it makes more sense. (Santa isn't very popular around here, our gifts day it's on January 6th because of the Three Wise Men)
>tfw you've never been to church. Ever.
>tfw when too lazy to find or draw a face.
I don't know what I'm doing anymore. Especially with these contests. I can't do them at all. either I don't know shit about music or just not the brightest bulb in the board. But, hell, fun to see people try.
Hey there /co/mrades. It's Christmas cryptoquiz time again. A prize is back on the table tonight, so if you're first to the solution, make sure to include your wishlist!

You guys were really good last night...so I have high hopes that I wont have to refresh much!
>parcel confirmed recieved by my /toy/ guy last week, hanging on to it so he can open it on christmas
>my /toy/ parcel in the mail, possibly arriving tomorrow afternoon
I wash my hands clean of it.
I got into Rider about halfway through Gaim, and have collected way too many Figuarts. Finally toned it down, though. I think I'm basically done. But I did preorder Ghost, and might grab Spectre. Might wait and see how the season pans out though. So far it's only okay.
But since I got gifted again, I might as well pay it forward. 1ARISLMZZ8M7Y you're going to get one of my favorite books.
How you liking it? I didn't love W as much as most people seem to.
Interesting I'll look into slapping you a gift sometime after I finish cleaning my gun here.
Is this right?
I know how you feel, Bart. When I was your age, I wanted an electric football game more than anything in the world. And my parents bought it for me, and it was the happiest day of my life.
I think W is a little overrated too, but it's still a lot of fun. Biggest problem I had with it is that the villains are a joke for most of the series.
I actually only got into the franchise earlier this year (Kuuga was my first) and now jumped off the slippery slope into figuarts collecting.
tfw didn't even get a chance to crack open my notebook
This. This is why I come to /co/
Enjoy your present!
For the rest of you who want to play some more (for a fabulous no prize)
LQ'OQ UCFFE DOQKK CF, EFR LQ'OQ UCFFE MEWQ PMQ MED, MED, MEDDYQKP XMOYKPNEK KYFXQ IYFU XOCKIZ PED-REFXQR LYPM REFFZ JVXGYFU GEZQ
And for anyone hoping for another chance to win, I've got at least one more coming...and by God, it's a doozy.
Be careful. It's addicting. I went a little overboard, so I'm glad to have backed off.
Kuuga was the first one I finished all the way through. That final battle was beautiful.
I'm pretty soft-boiled. I think most of those two-parter series wore on me pretty quickly though, except for Fourze.
Holy shit tfw I'm watching that movie right now.
we're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye
Man I have good memories of watching that with my cousins. The first time was around when my parents still thought we weren't old enough to watch stuff with swearing in it and my cousins were all like "nah screw that you have to see this".
Parents weren't too happy at first to find out we watched it, but it's become a tradition to see it every Christmas when the family gets together now.
Well played. Enjoy your no prize!
Here's another quick one

It's time I did something for these threads.
I pick this.
if TV has taught me anything, it's that miracles always happen to poor kids at Christmas. It happened to Tiny Tim, it happened to Charlie Brown, it happened to the Smurfs, and it's gonna happen to us.
Yeah, well bob sounds like a Grinch.
If TV has taught me anything, it's that miracles always happen to poor kids at Christmas. It happened to Tiny Tim, it happened to Charlie Brown, it happened to The Smurfs, and it's gonna happen to us.
Gets you in the holiday spirit.
Oh hell yes, Hitman!
What did you guys think of the All-Star Section 8 conclusion yesterday? I'm frankly quite sad it's over but just remembering the end of Dogwelder II's story sends me into fits of morbid giggling still.
When I was four I got a pillow in the shape of a dog.
I hated it, I really did.
But...all in all, it sorta became my version of Linus' blanket.
Loved that thing.
Great final message
When I was little we used to get family presents on christmas eve. We went to my cousins and he got a Sega Genesis. I was certain I wasn't gonna get one. Christmas morning came and Santa got me one and the Animaniacs game.
What are those guys doing with their arms? Is that a thing?
Shit. Dogwelder's gonna weld. I liked the previous issues with bimbo Wondy and the short gags like the mention of Karl Rayner, racist Batman, etc. The conclusion was just depressing.
The Yamaha digital piano keyboard I'm still playing on today.
I've had the damn thing for almost 14 years now and it hasn't given up on me yet.
It was supposed to be a present for all of us kids, but I'm the only one who really committed to piano (older brother doesn't play anymore, and little brother mostly plays the guitar now) so I inherited it when I moved out into my own place.
My parents love to tell a story about how there was this Power Rangers toy when I was a kid that I really wanted and they couldn't find it, and couldn't find it, and they kept going searching, and they were terrified it was going to ruin Christmas forever for me, but then my dad found it like the weekend before Christmas.
I don't really remember it, but I'm touched by the story. It also makes me wonder the lengths I'd go to get gifts for my kids, if I ever have any. I'm curious to hear Professor Zum or any other /co/ parents' thoughts on this.
Well, Sixpack did get to relive good moments with the team and remember that he's a hero. But in the end, he's still gone. That's a bummer.
Here's our second no prize winner of the night!
Man, do you guys think these things just grow on trees?!
...Well they do.
One more for the road?

When I was 10, I was crazy into Lord of the Rings, and asked for anything related to Gandalf. Christmas came, and I tore through my presents, finding no Gandalf themed presents. the "little shit" attitude was welling in me, but I'd accepted...Just at the very end, my mom pulls the old last present from behind the couch move. Box is about 6 ft long by 1 ft high. Excitedly I tear through it.
Let me say at this point the most expensive present I'd ever gotten was a PS1.
In the box, lies Glamdring, the sword of Gandalf from the Kings collection, a 300$ sword.
Nothing will ever match the joy in that nerdy little boy's heart that day.
Do you guys have a Santa at your mall? Mine does.
They also have this small group of musicians that play live Xmas music, it's nice.
That, and wasn't Sydney passed out in the cold alley?
Oh okay. I wasn't sure if it was a game or not.
It's a letter substitution game. You typically start by trying to figure out the easy small words, and you look at the others by looking for patterns like double consonants, etc.
There's always a Santa at my mall, it's pretty much the only decent-sized one within a two-hour radius around, so it gets a fair amount of traffic, especially around the holidays.
I know because I worked at the food court slinging pizzas around for four years.
>that one Christmas season when a squirrel chewed through the wires and blew out the power to the half of the mall with the food court in it
>we were the only ones who could serve food because the ovens ran on a gas pilot light
>had to feed hungry christmas shoppers with no registers to help us tally orders and no drinks other than bottled water
That was... interesting.
Mine will probably seem pretty strange, but I'll share. As a nerd into history and manga when I was in middle school, I was shocked when one Christmas I found a full run of Osamu Tezuka's Adolf hardcovers under the tree. One of the best series I have ever read, and as a bonus I can pretend that I'm sort of as cool as Korben Dallas.
Superman's cape is symbolically covering him. That issue shows that his belief in heroes is gonna get him through the night....As he battles the monsters in his dreams.
Food for thought - but he had to leave the rest of Section Eight behind - because they were all self destructive
Good lord. I'd call that being in the weeds.
Hoo boy, that's a toughie... i remember one year I got a toy castle with some Gargoyles action figures. That was a good Christmas.
That might've been the last year my parents were still married, but it was still a good year.Another year, I got a Nintendo 64 with Mario Party, Bartok the Magnificent and six Beanie Babies, which I cherished. I think the beanie banies were an orangutan, a lion, a parrot, a mallard, a bison and a komodo dragon.
Here's another one that's not really a 'favorite surprise', but one year for Christmas my grandma gave me a block of wood and my brother a rock. She gave us other things too, but those were legitimate presents we received. She laughed her ass off when we opened them.
That's why I didn't give it away ;)
One year my aunt gave me a present, when I see the box I feel disappointed because the gift is a pair of boots, I open the box and... Final Fantasy IX, the game I wanted to play the most, was there. To this day FFIX is my favourite videogame.
Well, it's 5AM on Spain and the game awards thing already ended, so time to hit the bed. Good day/night everyone!
It was a Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets "Chamber of Secrets" Lego set, if I'm correct.
The old lego sets were cool, since each one could be stacked to make a full Hogwarts if you had the money.
My family didn't, but I had the lowest building point, so I thought I could someday.
My master work is yet to come. I save my tougher stuff for the prize rounds. The next prize round will likely be Saturday afternoon.
Anyhoo, you'll have to practice on your own
There's supposed to be one, but I never see him. I saw a Santa once when I was four.
Wait, I just realized I'm wrong, I do remember something. I was originally thinking I got it in the summer for my birthday, but I actually got it for Hanukkah. It was a Super Nintendo. Holy shit, that made me happy. So happy I still fucking have it. Now I have 2, but that's short a story for another day.
And well yeah - but when it's revealed that they're just figments of Sixpack'a imagination you see more in them.
Grapplah and Power Tool literally kill themselves, in that bar, maybe being the side of Sixpack that will always want to drink.
Dogwelder 2 forsakes normal life for his own addiction as well.
By casting them off, Sixpack casts off what they represent. But it's a double whammy because at the end of the day friends can only take you so far - you have to believe in yourself.
So he goes solo. Ennis is neat.
In honor of your endeavors and your complexion, Hank, I'd like to share a few Simpsonian tales of the season.
Any pages that appear to be missing from the numbering were ads, unless otherwise fucked up.
I was actually gonna mention that.
Bueno and Hacken are the side of Sixpack that can change.
Hacken reading books and maturing, and Bueno settling down and being accepted by another.
Alright fine folks, I need to get to sleep so I don't show up to teach in the morning more of a wreck than I usually am. I'll try to run another "Name That Obscure Christmas Hymn" game for you guys soon, as well as finish getting the X-Men carol parody done, so I'll see you guys later.
Have yourself a nice cozy little December evening.
Sleep well, Piano Anon.
Here's a fun craft for you to make at home, kiddos!
Sure looks like, right?
They know their audience, that's for sure.
