>>
>>77355189
Well its basically an engine with 3 cannons, a rack of torpedoes, and a cockpit glued to it, especially in the first concept art. I can't exactly blame you.

And they've gone on record saying that Quarrie is a direct reference to mister McQuarrie. If you look at their B-wing its probably the best marriage between the original McQuarrie concept art and the original I've ever seen. I love that they made the central section look more like an engine without overblowing it.

You know what's weird, why is Kallus only commanding Arquitens cruisers, rather than regular Star Destroyers? Are other higher ups acknowledging his failures?
>>
>>77355386
Kallus keeps failing, but he got promoted. The Empire is strange.
>>
>>77355295
>Are they going to meet every fucking character in the franchise?
I hope not, I'm not a fan of that and would rather new shows be their own thing.

>entry-level fandom pandering
Not many people know who Ralpg McQuarrie even is, so it isn't 'entry level pandering'.
>>
>>77355426
Sometimes you promote people to keep a better eye on them.
>>
>>77355501
And it's not like they are going to say "Hey, your name sounds familiar, I heard he was a cool guy!" when Quarrie introduces himself.
>>
>>77355426
Not really

During the Battle of Stalingrad, General Friedrich Paulus was promoted to field marshal after losing a key battle, by Hitler himself over the radio.

Hitler exclaimed that "No German field marshal had ever been captured alive."

Kallus will either succeed with his promotion, or die.
>>
>>77355189
Personally I don't like them. I mean yeah, superior firepower and survivability and all that but it just looks ugly. Plus it has a spinning cockpit. A concept so ridiculous that the lore of a setting with laserswords that cut through everything and planet destroying battle stations has to point out it's a design flaw.
>>
>>77355189
I'm really hoping this first Hera episode turns out good. I feel like I've got the gist of Kanan and Ezra at this point.
>>
>>77355501

I mean entry-level fandom pandering as in any fan watching Rebels will get to see "obscure" characters show up because apparently they're just going to shove everyone into the show.

It felt natural in TCW, the characters had a reason to appear in most episodes, they were focal in the episodes.

Now it's like "Hey, remember DARTH VADER? WOW HE'S IN THE SHOW!"

"Remember LANDO? LOOK, HERE HE IS"

It's dumb. If you're not going to do something cool with the characters that justify their insertion, then don't.

Vader showing up and doing literally nothing other than look incompetent is fucking shameful.

Really? Vader, the Jedi-Purger, Sith Lord and second most powerful figure in the entire Empire couldn't kill a fucking Padawan and his under-trained Master?

Vader got a hit in on Kanan and nearly decapitated Ezra with his own lightsaber. Most of the battle seemed to be Vader just toying with them, since I'm sure there are few Jedi left willing to fight Vader at this point in time. He also showed up because of the bigger plot going on with Lothal; you know, the whole Kyber Crystal mining operation that forced Tarkin's attention to the planet?

The Lando point I will agree with, though. At least they are showing his impact on the crew after his episode, with Ezra claiming to be him with Hondo.
>>
>>77355694
Did you even watch the show?

Vader was after the Rebellion so he let them go. He then followed them, wrecked the Rebellion's shit and fucked off because he has better things to do then personally kill every half trained Jedi in the galaxy. Let the Inquisitors do their job.

Did you miss the parts where Vader orchestrated everything in siege of lothal? The very same parts that made it obvious that he's the one person in the show who's got his shit completely together?

Or that part where he deliberately didn't kill said padawan and under-trained master so they could lead him to a rebel fleet? Which he then killed literally by himself?

Not him, but there is one part of his and Kanan's "fight" where Vaders got him by the neck, completely disarmed with no incoming threats and instead of cutting him in half, leaving an angry untrained padawan open to dark side influencing, he fucking throws him and every time I see it I just think "WHY?"

I mean Kanan didn't need to be alive to follow the rebels and find out where the fleet was. But I guess Vader didn't know who was calling the shots 100% so I guess it's not that bad.

Actually kind of makes sense when you start thinking about it. Vader has no idea who the leader is and what their system of leadership is like. It makes sense to assume Kanan is the leader, as he is a jedi, and for all Vader knows Kanan is the only one who knows the location of the rebel base's current location. Best to play it safe in that sort of scenario and keep everyone who could have information alive.
>>
I didn't mind Lando showing up in Rebels, but then again I never exposed myself to much Lando-stuff in the Old EU, so I always wondered what he 'd be up to.
I enjoyed it.

What I kind of don't like is how both the Story Group and the fans have to go out of their way to focus on the Inquisitor's power-levels. It's stupid, it detracts from the story, and it adds nothing.

He could still have done all of that, and killed the Jedi. He only needed the other rebels to escape.

There was literally no reason to not kill Ezra and Kanan. If he just wanted them to lead him to the rebellion, he wouldn't even need to show up and do battle with them.

It was clearly more of a case of "Welp, they escaped, but at least my plan is still valid."

If they killed Ezra and Kanan, do you honestly thing Hera would have been in the right mind to even go back to the rebel base? Or any of the Ghost crew?

Vader let them go to fulfill a purpose, and it succeeded. He found a large Rebel Fleet and destroyed a command ship, it's fighter squadrons and most of the personnel within, thus crippling them a great deal.

Only if they do the most cleche things with them. Like use them to over throw vader, or he tries to turn them to the dark side. What if the character only finds out well after Vader's death? They are living their lives, force free, then they have kids of their own. They are struggling with life like every other sentient and then some force abilities start to show up. The family doesn't know anything but they do what they can. The Jedi show up and the family allows the kid to go in for training. They are a perfectly normal student. Then they are sent out to do jedi stuff and nothing crazy or outlandish happens. They get old, retire from the jedi order to raise a family and then die of old age without having ever killed in anger or fallen to the dark side. And then, out of fucking nowhere Nothing happens. There is no twist, no prophesy, no grand war that demands the character's attention. They live a life free of tropes.

Better?

I just got done reading Tales of the Jedi for the first time. Great series of comics, really enjoyed it...but it left wondering the following: why the fuck would anyone let a Cathar become a Jedi? Between Sylvar and Juhani I'm now convinced that all of them, or at least the females of the species, are just psychopaths that fly into murderous rages at the drop of a hat. communism hasn't ever been achieved. socialism has been achieved in varying capacities, but imperfectly, and in a pre-digital time where distribution and solving the calculation problem would have been immensely more difficult, with inferior technology arising almost entirely from societies that were less advanced than the capitalist nations that continually fought and sabotaged them, combined with influence from the USSR that itself was malformed from its birth. the failure of a concept in practice thus far does not mean that the concept itself is inherently wrong, or else we all should have given up on "democracy" a long time ago.

>>
>>77361095
He's absolutely right, but at the same time I don't believe the hype machine really has as much a role in whether something is a hit or not. Mass market feedback definitely has a role in deciding the image of a particular brand of media compared to individual mixed opinions, but in cases where something has prior expectations or a legacy to live up to while introducing bigger, "better" things, chalking it all down to "hype" doesn't really cut it in my mind. It's something else, but I can't put my finger on it.

That said, he sounds like a bit of an overly rational cautionary about everything, so it's hard to imagine him enjoying things if he hates the idea of getting excited for things

The video isn't going anywhere. Just come back after your movie.

It's okay to be anticipating a movie, but the Star Wars hype is far too much. That Force Friday thing was total nonsense. The movie sold out showings two months before it's even out? At that point, it's not even about the movie anymore. It's about being apart of the hype crowd.

I'm still debating whether or not I should get the movie marathon ticket. I haven't seen the OT in theaters yet and this may be my last chance to do so unless they decide to do the same with the other two movies in the new trilogy. I just want to complete the circle, having been able to see the Prequels in theaters, at least.
>>
>>77361341

But what's wrong with that? Hype culture makes things even more enjoyable. It's honestly the best part about capeshit films. Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises were amazing midnight experiences.

Participating in culture is just a wonderful feeling. That's why we're all here in this thread.
>>
>>77361341
>the Star Wars hype is far too much

Only Star Wars can have this kind of hype. It's a multi-generational thing that's been around for almost 40 years and you wonder why it's selling out showings?
>>
>>77361318
>but in cases where something has prior expectations or a legacy to live up to while introducing bigger, "better" things, chalking it all down to "hype" doesn't really cut it in my mind.

I think that actually gives creators license to be lazy. Especially in video games. There was a hype frenzy when Star Wars Battlefront was announced, but now everything we know about it is very disappointing. Halo 5 as well. As long as people are buying it day one, you don't have to make it that great.

It's just like Hulk Hogan said to the cruiserweights back in WCW. "Why do you guys work so hard? We've already got their money!"

It's alright. But it's definitely not something she's going to keep to. Wouldn't mind seeing her in appropo Jedi robes once she readily assumes her destiny

Finn too, if he does end up being Force sensitive as I feel it'd be unfair to have his being the posterboy for the lightsaber as a red herring, even though all marketing so far seems to suggest that Rey indeed is the one who will awaken to the Force, and Finn is just using the lightsaber as a means to defend himself against Kylo

I personally feel like the price is too asinine to even warrant the thought. $60 for 20 straight hours of Star Wars? Highway robbery and major burnout if I'm going alone.
>>
>>77361406
But that just sets the movie up to not live up to the hype.

Realistically, the movie has all the ingredients to be mediocre to good if you don't think about it too hard. But like the guy in the video says, all the marketing is designed to hit us in the nostalgia. To get guaranteed butts in seats.

Another issue that seems to have come up, is the issue of blackout dates at work. I don't know how I'm going to reconcile taking off work during the busiest period of the year because I want to watch Star Wars all day. Not to mention the announcement of advance ticket sales came a little too late into the schedule, so I'm not even sure if I can schedule off. >>77361459

>>
>>77361483

don't be a poorfag anon
>>
>>77361460
It's not good to get swept up in hype and The Dark Knight Rises is a perfect example of it.

I know a lot of people who walked out of the theater thinking 'wow that was good' but the next day, after thinking about it, realized the movie made no sense and was shit. And there is no incentive to craft a better film because of hype. You'll see the movie no matter what because it gets hyped up.

I'm not saying don't see the movie. I'm seeing the movie. But I'm not getting in line at Toys R Us at 8pm for a midnight release of a kid's toy with 5poa. You wouldn't believe how many people were there for that around here. Cleaned out every store in a 45 mile radius.
>>
>>77361488

>>
>>77361566
I never understood this argument. It's okay for it to be shit because it's a blockbuster.

Is there any reason in particular you feel blockbusters should not be good?
>>
>>77361483
There's that too, yes. I'd only been made aware of the price a couple days ago. There's also the fact that the theaters closest to me are about an hour and a half away in both directions. I really want to do it, but time and money are just those things I need to think about now.

I can handle the marathon itself - I've done it every summer up till now and it's really not that exhaustive so long as you actually enjoy what you're watching. I'm gonna feel bad for all those who just straight hate the Prequels and would rather sit them out. That's literally half of their money wasted on what they understandably feel was a wasted Trilogy(even if I don't share the sentiment).

>>
You see though, based on how the force works in the new canon, it can't "awaken" in someone who already has it. It's always with them as soon as they are born and it always affects their lives in some way.

And the incredibly accurate MSW spoilers suggest that Rey uses the force multiple times without big hoopla even before she takes on Kylo with Finn.
>>
>>77361483
I guarantee you that you're better off just firing up the DVD player and ordering some pizza with close friends.

$60 to see a bunch of movies you've already seen and probably own in theaters? That's hype train in effect. I wouldn't think people who actually read Star Wars comics and novels and watch the kids cartoons would be THAT starved for Star Wars like some kind of casual.
>>
>>77361586

Never said that. I'm saying most blockbusters are competently made films. They don't break the mold but they're not the fucking Room or some Sci-Fi original.

But our culture only looks at what it popular and in the spotlight. Which is why Call of Duty and Star Wars prequels can be considered the shittiest things to come out of their respective industries despite the fact that they're average at worst.

Nobody talks about the 2/10s and the 3/10s.

7/10 - shit
8/10 - average
9/10 - good
10/10 - paid off

From Maz's dialogue in the trailers, it seems like Rey's been deaf to the midichloriansForce within her, kind of like how Ezra'd been before linking up with Kanan, and chalking up his instinctual use of the Force to sheer luck. No it is literally impossible because somebody still has to run the damn thing. It's not anarchy. And the people running it will always be higher than the people who are run.

And even in this alleged land of perfect equality social circles would still crop up and push others out until it became another hierarchy even if it was independent from government.

Maz says that the saber belongs to Rey, Rey then rejects it because she feels disgusted by the vision she saw, and so Maz gives the saber to Finn for safe keeping. Finn totally flubs it when he duels Kylo at the end and Rey accepts her destiny and takes up the sword.

the title refers to Rey
>>

>>
>>77361817

No, according to MSW, she says the saber belongs to Finn after Rey rejects it.
>>
>>77361630

Why does everyone take the title so literally?

Until Darth Darth Binks is canon there was no ACTUAL Phantom Menace either.

The force awakening is most likely a metaphor for force users/Jedi returning after Luke gave up and Yoda'd himself away after losing all his students.

It can also refer in a meta sense to Star Wars returning to our lives after having gone so long without a movie and even longer for an Episode VII.

>>77361794
I'm with you in that I'm sure no one ever goes out of their way to make a BAD film. But I am certain there are people who do not go out of their way to make sure the film is the best it can be. There are producers who hire directors and writers with bad taste and say 'fuck it, call it a day'. Directors who hire actors and tell them to 'cry, but cry pretty'. Directors who insist on foot fetish imagery in every flick.

They may have a vision, and it may turn out that their vision actually sucks. Instead of rewarding those who can make actual works of quality, it's easier to just let a lunatic like Zack Snyder do what he wants.
>>

Yes, there was. It was plainly referring to Sheev. ALL of the Star Wars Titles have been pretty literal.

Furthermore, the awakening has already been mentioned in the dialogue as being something pretty literal.

And we know that Force users aren't going anywhere and continue to born no matter what happens in the Galaxy (also the fact that Kylo and his master Snoke, and Maz (probably) are force users).

You can go do it if you want to, man. Just make sure that on the way to the theater, you stop in Best Buy and buy the complete saga and bluray. And when you get to the theater, make sure you buy an extra seat so your complete saga bluray can have a place to sit.

And then on your way home, go to Target and buy another complete saga bluray, but the one with the DVD combo pack so you'll have two sets next time you go see the Clone Wars movie when it's rereleased in theaters.

Saw TPM in theaters as a child. Saw it a couple years ago when they brought it back for 3D. Was more enjoyable than any of the times I've watched it at home since. And not only that but just being in a theater of Star Wars fans added to it. Dunno about other anons but I love that big movie release hype crowd.
>>
>>77361999
Depends. Is your good friend the original trilogy on Laserdisc? Or the Special Edition VHS?
>>
>>77361903

It is a huge difference, but only if it's one of your first few times seeing the movie. Ideally your first time at all.

Someone who's seen the movie many, many times on the small screen and is now seeing it on the big screen is likely not to notice a big difference unless they are enthusiastic about the theater-going experience.

I had already seen 2001: A Space Odyssey at home, but that didn't stop me from seeing it at the movie theater with superior picture and sound to my home system and with a crowd that likes the movie just as much, if not more, than me. I was there at Star Wars Celebration with the massive crowd of people in the arena where they debuted the second teaser and it exploded with joy that lasted the entire weekend. Oh, but that was all just the hype machine manipulating people to fit in and it wasn't their genuine love for Star Wars, right? People just went there to fit in with the hip thing, correct?

It's cool that you want to play the modern internet cynic that can't do anything without first questioning what sinister ulterior motive exists behind buying this or that, but you're on a Star Wars general thread on 4chan. Your posts trying to warn people away from falling for the shills won't do much good here. People here love Star Wars for one reason or another and that their dollar now goes from one big company to another big company isn't likely to change those feelings.

This is a very good argument. Good job.

But youre still making the mistake that many people make-- communism is not a system of government. It is an economic system.

The fact that someone has to run things does not automatically make the ECONOMIC system a failure. Nor does anarchy have anything to do with anything (also- style of government).

Or else capitalism would have failed when paired with monarchy, before given the chance to work much better with representative democracy / federalism...

tl;dr we have not tried the optimal governmental pairing with communism/marxism for it to work. Hint: it is not gonna be fascism (ie USSR)

Socialism works pretty nice in the nordic countries. Yet youre going to go with "literally impossible?"

Shut the fuck up. Maybe you should find a different place to talk about Star Wars. People obviously like Kanan, what's the problem here? People aren't allowed to like new canon stuff? You sound like butthurt EU fags who whine about how their EU shit isn't appreciated.
>>
>>77363493
I kind of wish Thane and Ciena weren't so central to everything, though. Ciena serves aboard the Devastator, sees the Battles of Hoth and Endor, ends up being the most major player of Jakku and her [perceived] actions there are the inspiration for the extreme fanaticism of the First Order? Despite her [unknowingly to them] being a traitor of sorts?

And I thought Obi-Wan, Anakin and Ahsoka's being present in every major battle of the Clone Wars was a bit too much, nevermind the Ghost crew's meeting almost every character of relative importance in canon so far.
>>
>>77364376
I only ever cared about the films and TCW until the EU reboot. I used to spend hours on Wookiepedia reading up on events that happened on the EU rather than reading said actual material. I played most of the EU video games and a lot of the comics, mostly the Old Republic era and and such but I never really read any novels save for the Thrawn ones. I find it extremely difficult to read the novels. The reboot made me more interested in Star Wars as now I can keep up with the material being released from the start

It's all new canon stuff, and that's pretty boring. I saw a lot of people calling out a guy for saying canon is a marketing buzzword and claiming he was an autist, but that's not really far from the truth.
Dismissing non-canon stuff is retarded. I guarantee you can find much better quality writing in Legends stuff than Canon stuff, as of now. Sure, that will probably change with time, but right now there's literally no reason to go back and read some awesome comics and novels from the 90s and early 2000s, and it just seems like most people here aren't doing that simply because they're not canon anymore.

Obi-Wan was definitely not present in every battle, that's for sure. Because a lot of the show was focused on the 501st, so we just saw their battles the most. Anakin and Ahsoka obviously being tied to the 501st.

Even then, Ahsoka wasn't at all of those battles, and neither was Anakin. Ahsoka didn't even arrive until the first year of the war was done.

Anakin was probably at MOST 501st Battles, but we know from Umbara that he isn't at all of them.

As for Thane and Ciena, it's just classic Star Wars pottery in action. It's not even remotely close to the BILLION of coincidences needed for all the characters in ANH to be in exactly the right place for the plot to get going. Just gotta' accept things like that in Star Wars, especially if the result is a damn good story.
>>
>>77364434

Peopel are allowed to like whatever they want, I'm just saying Kanan is nowhere near as interesting as dozens of older characters, which are dismissed because people are too lazy to search for good stories.

>>77364448

>I find it extremely difficult to read the novels. The reboot made me more interested in Star Wars as now I can keep up with the material being released from the start

People like this guy.

I don't want to start a "fake fan vs real fan" flame war, people like whatever they want. I'm just saying that most people in this thread are new fans who dismiss the old stuff,
>>
>>77364501
>people are too lazy to search for good stories.
So you are an EUfag then.

Look, fact is, everything being canon now has drawn a lot of people into the comics and books. It's not that people are lazy, it's that they don't want to have to search through dozens of shit books to find something they might like, especially when it's not canon so it won't matter in the long run.

Kanan also has a lot of content out. A book, an ongoing comic, and a tv show that's into its second Season. There's a lot about him that people have come to like. As someone who actually has read some EU stuff, I can definitely see why Kanan is up there as one of the best (if not the best) Star Wars character, for a lot of people.

Like you said, people are allowed to like what they want, but you shouldn't get mad just because it's a new character. Your opinions aren't more important than anybody elses.
>>
>>77364501
>people are too lazy to search for good stories
I don't have enough time on my hands to go back and read every single story of the EU but I hardly dismiss it at all I loved a lot of what I read and I quite enjoyed characters like Kyle Katarn and K'Kruhk. As you said, people like what they like and now Star Wars has 2 universes to indulge on. If you don't like one then there's another one for you to try out
>>
>>77364543

I'm not an EUfag, I'm 20 years old and grew up with new prequel stuff, but I don't give a shit about canon, I just want to read good stories, so I simply search for good stories and find them.
I love TCW, and I'm enjoying Kanan stuff, but the Dark Horse series and the old novels feature character and stories which are similiar and many times better than everything Canon I've read so far.

There is no "searching through shit books", because those books are old and it's pretty universal which are considered shit and which are considered good, as opposed to new stuff, where you'll just have to bite the bullet and get the new book to find out if it's good or not; and then you buy the book, and it's complete shit, but hey! At least it's canon, right?

I'm not mad at all, I just want people to stop with this "canon-only" mindset. I think it's pretty pathetic for people to come to an active comic book board to discuss Star Wars and then complaing that "it's too hard" to go through old comics.

>I can definitely see why Kanan is up there as one of the best (if not the best) Star Wars character

Kanan is a simplified version of plenty of "outlaw jedi" that have appeared throughout older stories. If you like his stories, you should check out SW Legacy, which features Cade, a very similiar character.
>>
>>77364471
Or maybe some people didn't get super into SW until the latest hype train, which happened to start with the New Canon. Isn't it a good thing that more people are becoming fans beyond just the movies?

Also, most people here are pretty young, like 18-25, so they weren't really around for the original PT hype until TCW.

It's the first year of New Canon, it makes sense that people are focusing on it right now. There will be time to go back and read some Legends stuff.

Also, you seem to have missed some of the thread, because there's been plenty of discussion about Dark Horse comics that people liked.
>>
>>77364501
>I don't wanna call people fake fans
>proceeds to imply just that
>>
>>77364609
Maybe people like canon? Its very common for sci fi fans to find continuity an important aspect, because they often use fantasy worlds as an escape and want them to be as immersive as possible, and strong continuity helps that.

Also this: >>77364615

Fact is, people like canon, and want to read canon. Are there better stories in the EU? Maybe, but there's also better stories in a billion other franchises I am sure. People choose to read and enjoy canon because it's new, it's important, it's what people enjoy. I see no problem with that at all.
>>
>>77364627

My point has nothing to do with people not being true fans, it's about people not being interested in the older stories simply because they're not canon.

If you say you don't like silver age comics because they're dated and you can't enjoy that, sure, I can understand that, that's a valid reason; but if you tell me you're not reading something because it's not canon, that's just stupid and you're just blindly falling for an obvious marketing move.
>>
>>77364609
I've read through most of the EU comics. It's the novels I have trouble reading through as I'm not much of a reader
>>
>>77364641
>it's about people not being interested in the older stories simply because they're not canon.
Again, continuity is important to people. Why do you think there's literally a group being paid to maintain it now? It might not be important to you, that's fine, but for a lot of people, this is what people have been asking for for YEARS, and they want to enjoy it.
>>
>>77364652

Oh, okay. Have you checked out Dark Times? If you like Kanan you'll probably enjoy it, it's set right after Order 66 and follows an exile Jedi Master, instead of a Padawan.
>>
>>77364665

I'm not saying continuity is not important, I'm saying dismissing something because it's NOT in continuity is ignorant.

I love continuity, I'm a sucker for consistent narratives, but I really don't care if a story is canon or not for me to enjoy it.
>>
>>77364673

>Are there better stories in the EU? Maybe, but there's also better stories in a billion other franchises I am sure
THANK YOU

I use the Star Wars books as a means to do some light reading and escape to a familiar universe every now and then. The same reason I read Marvel comics. They're comfy, and they're often fun.

If I really wanted to worry about reading the best sci-fi book available, I'd read setting else all together. Dune has been burning a hole on my shelf for years, but I still haven't gotten to it.

Canon is fun right now because the people making it care about it. I always saw the EU as canon, but never really cared to get into it because it seemed like it was just kind of there. But now, there's a group making a concerted effort to turn "canon" into one large saga, and there's something really neat about that. It's a blast to be a part of.

Did I fall for marketing? Yeah, probably. But I'm enjoying it, so what do I care?
>>
>>77364691
Ok, well if you happen to find me enough time to go back and read all the EU stuff, I will gladly. I barely have the time to keep up with new books in addition to the non-licensed novels I want to read. I already read too much Star Wars as it is probably.
>>
>>77364713

Do you really think the EU was any different? It's all licensed fiction, it's all marketing.

This is just the newest iteration of it. Literally no different than"You know that Star Wars movie? Here's some comics!" Or "Ever wonder what happened after RotJ? Here's some books!"

Get off your high horse. The EU is no different than the New Canon.
>>
>>77364897
Really the difference this time is more editorial oversight to reign in some of the stupid shit.
>>
>>77364897

Honestly, the EU stuff had a lot more creative control from authors behind it than the new canon seems to have.

The new stuff feels way more executive-driven and targeted at a specific public and concerned with marketing moves than any DH comic ever did.

I mean, Star Wars #1 had over 60 variant covers.

Aftermath is proof that the authors still have creative control. There's no way that fucking prose was mandated.

The story group is solely there to oversee things and make sure everything fits, and I don't see how that can possibly be a bad thing.

While the new Canon feels cohesive the thing that annoys me is how damn safe it all is. Half the stories feel like they're more interested in it just being star warsy rather than telling a good story most of the time, especially the comics. All the new canon is living in the shadow of the force awakens and until that movies gone we won't get stories that might take more creative risks. But that's really what sucks for me.
>>
>>77366323

>>
>>77366378
Well there was a big character death in Dark Disciple and the reveal about Han Solo's wife in the comics, but otherwise not much has happened.

You gotta' remember that they're trying to fill in the gaps missing from the EU now, so for a while, we're just going to get small missions that characters went on inbetween/around the OT movies.

They said in an interview that they don't want to rush Canon, so there will be small stories wrapped around the biggest ones.

I have a feeling, as much as most of us don't like it, Aftermath 2 and 3 are going to be very big books in terms of canon shit happening. Because it's continuing on from the Battle of Jakku, and there's no more beating around TFA with those either. New Republic: Bloodline is another one to watch.

Cavan Scott himself has revealed the cover that of David Buisan originates. and the website of the "World Book Day" provides a table of contents. Both we present to you below.
