a fat cockroach fell on my shoulder from the ceiling

First couple of times eating at American restaurants of below "dining" standard.

The wait staff chatter incessantly and inanely, left twice without eating before catching on to the fact that it's the norm there.

Years back, a couple of friends and I stopped at an Olive Garden one a weekday evening. The place wasn’t crowded and we got a seat quickly and the waitress took our drink orders and then… didn’t return for about 15mins and when she did, it was _without_ our drinks, so we ordered drinks again and our food and then… she didn’t return for about 15mins. Also, it took them forever to make the food.

Other then that, I’ve never had any hassles in restaurants.

Not the restaurant's fault but eating with my brother in public is always a bad experience.

He has the need to touch each portion of food on his fork/spoon to his chin before he eats it. It's especially embarrassing in nicer places.

I try to ignore it and when eating in private that's easy since he's done it for as long as I can remember. When in a restaurant after a few minutes other diners start to notice and stare/point him out to others on their table. I try to avoid dining out with him apart from on special family occasions.

I once ate with 2 friends in a restaurants in my home town, my home town is shit though. It was okay all evening, nothing great but we order dessert and I order a creme bruelé. 20 min later eferyone gets their desserts but not mine. They then mention that the place next door usually does the desserts but they are closed atm but that there are no worries. 15 min later when everyone was already finished I get my dessert, the caramel top is like a flappy piece of plastic and it is stonecold. Complained, didn't have to pay for the dessert, got a mcflurry down the road instead.

In Germany it's 3 years vocational training, with additional training to becomea sommelier possible. My sister did both and worked at places like Michelin-star restaurants and the Hotel Adlon (most famous Hotel in Germany). Since she has vocational training she can more or less choose where she wants to work and gets a higher salary. Of course it isn't something you want to do for all of your life, but it has it's benefits, especially in a cunt like Germany, where having a degree/vocational training/piece of official looking paper, saying that you recieved some form of education/training means everything.

I also met Matt once, I went and did a few days at Aria when I was a first year apprentice cause my head chef was friends with him. Went to a 5* and the server added the wine flight to my bill, when we didn't order it. Everything else was great.

Went to a mediocre asian food place (upscale for the size of the town I was in I suppose) and my girl's pad thai was grossly undercooked. Told the server, and the kid didn't remove it from the tab. 0% tip on over 100$ bill between two couples. I would have paid the same amount with a 20% tip so no skin off my back, but he should have known to remove or compensate in some way.

Besides that I have mostly pleasant experiences. I tip between 0-100% depending on service.

Sure, did it at a bar on KC I stumbled into on thanksgiving. I was there for a wedding, and those poor fucks were working a dead night on a holiday that's about family. I got my very attentive server to bum some smokes off a cook, and they dealt with my drunk ass for like 3 hours so 100%. Good service and circumstances, so they made out that night.

No regrets. No regrets walking out of places when the food takes too long either. No regrets tipping 0% for when the service has been shit.

I don't eat out a lot, probably 50 times in my lifetime. I've had takeouts which have been completely wrong, but never had anything absurd in a restaurant like sons people claim. Tried to got to a Pizza Hut that had one of those buffet things. When I got inside the entire restaurant was abandoned. No customers and... No staff. No one. Counter was unmanned.

So, I look around the building. Five or so employees were outside talking among themselves and shooting the shit.

So I give it a minute and then I ask if anybody was manning the counters because I wanted to eat. Guy just looks at me, sticks out his arm and gives me the finger. Goes back to talking. Went to a Buffalo wild wings with wife and daughter since she loves her tendies. Crackhead thin black woman with horrible homemade tattoos on her arms neck and face is our server. All hopped up on something, maybe crack.

Was very polite and respectful. She got everything correct.

I went to pay the $54 tab with a hundred and she comes back with my change and hands me $6. I asked for my other $40 and she insisted I paid with 3 $20s.
