A colleague of mine was recently a contestant on "Beat Bobby Flay" (he lost in first round) and told me a bit about the whole process.

Most cooking shows are bullcrap.
Remember that clip from Cutthroat kitchen where a black guy and white guy are sprinting for the pantry. The white guy is way in front of the fat black guy as he enters the door then the camera cuts to inside the pantry and the black guy enters first.
