I think small pigtails at the sides of her head, to make her hair appear more voluminous, would have made the bow look more balanced. It's a little too big for her hair as it is. I do like the fact she wears sweet in her videos though.

Cute girl and not a bad coord but her pose on the second photo is strange
>>
>it was so hot today I didn't wear a blouse

look girl. i get it, some people live in 30c weather and wearing a blouse becomes unbearable.
but i just? what the fuck?
if you really insist on not wearing a blouse why are you wearing tights? why not just some cute sheer socks?
and if it's really that hot why the hell are you wearing solid long gloves? can't you settle with some nice short cute lace gloves?

honestly this coord is just so messy, i really want to like it but the whole "it's too hot to wear a blouse but i'll wear other things that makes me hotter than a blouse would" throws the balance off so much to me.
>>
>>9477068
I like where she was going with it, but you're right. I kind of wish she had thrown a light bolero or something on to cover her shoulders. A flouncy chiffon princess sleeve blouse would work so much better with what she has going on than the gloves.
>>
>>9477078
>>9477068
Is there any other coords or styles that incorperate long gloves super well that isint a weddimg dress? Cuz I really like what she had going with the gloves but it just feels a little off.

i think the gloves could have worked but the shoulders being exposed while her legs being exposed is throwing me a bit off? excuse the shitty shoop but maybe if she had some sort of a bolero or cape it might work?

>>
>>9476201
total nickpick but I hate the bag with this, it's much too gothic. the necklace needs to be shortened or made into a brooch also.
>>

>>
>>9477068

>>
>>9477164
Different anon but "different" doesn't mean its good.
>>
>>9477165
True but I like the coord because it makes me feel nostalgic for the time when simple coords like >>9477103 were acceptable in Lolita and not nitpicked to death.
>>
>>9477068
>>9477103
The only reason she and Misako can pull off the blouseless look (though I agree it looks unbalanced) is because they're slim and don't have armpit fat spilling out at the arm holes. The majority of the time I see someone go blouseless their fat lumpy armpits are poking out, which is a bad look in any fashion but especially MEB in lolita.

...Are those full length printed gloves? Yikes. This would be way better without those, they kind of creep me out, not sure why. Maybe cause it's so similar to the dress it kind of looks like it's all one big piece?
>>
>>9477270
Learn to wear a fucking beret.
>>
>>9477270
Why does her mouth look so tight and awkward

>>9477291
Those gloves ruined the whole look...
>>
>>9477290
The crossed legs, skirt slightly pulled out pose is so quintessentially lolita, but she managed to completely fuck it up.
>>
>>9476194
Ah, lolita Keemstar is back. Her coord looks fine though, I'd probably change the wig though because the Rhapsody style is pretty outdated. And at least she's not making that horrible wide-eyed expression in this photo
>>
>>9477471
That's her real hair.
>>
>>9477471
oh ffs, that is her real hair with a clip on bang
>>
>>9476194
she's got that deer in the headlights look down. Is this a wig? It's horrid. She'd look cute with her hair up in two "poofs" at each side of her head, at the top, like.
>>
>>9477285
her face in the full shot is pretty weird desu
I think her liner is too thick for her eyes and angled in a way that makes them disappear.
she's cute otherwise
>>
>>9476212
as soon as I saw this with that joyful "Picnic!" word I just cracked up laughing
>>
>>9477291

her floral colors also all match. 10/10
>>
>>9477274

>>
>>9477268
Not loving the brown and black combination. Something about the lace blouse seems off. This would have been miles better paired with cream and brown.
>>
>>9477480
>>9477473
What the fuck? It looks exactly like those Rhapsody wigs that were popular in 2013. She needs to find a different hair style, maybe something that gives her more volume up top
>>
>>9477554
I think she'd look really great if she was to do some sort of updo, even just a high ponytail would look good with all the volume and length she has.
>>
>>9477575
I think any kind of fancy updo like what Fanny Rosie normally does would look too fussy and mature for such a sweet coord, a high ponytail or high side ponytail with a matching or color coordinated scrunchie or ribbon would be cute
>>
>>9477291
Isn't this really old? I remember this coordinate very specifically from a couple months ago because of the weird gloves

>>
>>
>>9477981
I thought she wasn't posting anymore? I'm really not feeling the shoes, but I guess they're more for practicality than looks.

This coord seems particularly 'meh.'
>>
>>9477831
Chanel really just has to learn how to flatter herself and edit down her accessory choices.
things for her to lose in this coord: chunky chest bow, pearl necklace, pearl waist chain.
additional suggestions: black shoe, real lolita ankle socks, smaller septum because upper lip area is small and that large ring overwhelms the area.
could be real effing classy if she made these changes.
>>
>>9476199
I like this and idgaf. I love the coat.
>>
>>9477471
>>9477473
Is this a meme? like, everytime she gets posted, someone says something about her "wig" and immediately someone jumps to say "That's her real hair", every time I swear. Smells like samefaggot.
>>9477554
Oh, for a moment I just thought the rhapsody comment wouldn't show up this time.

>sage for pointless rant
>>
>>9477981
Something about her coords always looks off to me. All the pieces are there but they're not all to the same puzzle.
>>
>>9478033
Separately, each element of this coord is fine, but it's like she thought that they all went together just because they're all black. The bottom is too heavy; solid black tights and chunky shoes that don't match the flowiness of the dress and sheer top. The white of the bag is way too stark, and it doesn't really match the rest of the outfit. Just because it has a cross on it doesn't mean it matches the dress. Something about the beret is also throwing me off, but I'm not really sure what. I will say, though, that I do like that choice of blouse for this dress.
>>
>>9478007
People are dumb and can't tell wigs apart from real hair.

Nice job outing yourself as having no grasp on the fashion?

I would personally say otome first because of the patterns and colours, casual second, but that's a reach.
>>
>>9479764
They're not wrong though, it's not a good lolita coord, it's unbalanced as hell.

Like, if you're going with the excuse "it was too hot for a blouse" don't wear long gloves and knit tights? Just say "I was inspired by this BTSSB photo." There's too much going on with the headwear, lack of petti, gloves and shoes are white but everything else is cream, I could go on.

Her make up is really nice, I will say that.
>>
>>9479741
She's always so on point
>>
>>9479770
She's clearly wearing a petti anon, don't be petty (sorry I just had to).

The coord is clearly inspired by the old school hime style with the beaded crown and everything. The dress itself is cream but the lace on it is white so I see why there's a mix of neutrals.
>>
>>9479802
>don't be petty

I looked again, I honestly thought she wasn't oop.

Yeah I guess it's an agree to disagree thing, I'm not big on old school anyway.

You're not going to offence me with an opinion. It's not even me anyways. It's a stock photo from Surface Spell. I really think it's the most gorgeous blouseless coord I've ever seen. I don't even like dresses buttoned to the bottom, or wear much colour (always black), but this photo defiantly made me want to have it. Until I realised it wouldn't look half as good on me. There was also one from Chess Story I've seen used as an example of good JSK without blouse coord. Also has long gloves like >>9477089
asked for. I think it's alright, but I like that Surface Spell one better.

I also don't see how some sleeves remove the entire feeling of lolita. There is a lot more to it than covering some shoulders...
>>
>>9480624
Wearing a blouse is a pretty basic requirement in lolita. And before you spam all the pics of Misako modeling with bear shoulders, great, it's a thing that happens once in awhile with modeling.

Yeah like what would GLB and Btssb know about Lolita right? They totally meant to coordinate this lolita ad in a not lolita way for a lolita magazine!

I'm sure you're the absolute expert, wow amazing.
>>
>>9480676
The "always wear a blouse!!!" thing is a pretty recent development, and was mostly popularized because newfag-chans were getting JSKs and throwing them on, because hey, it's a dress! It works great and looks cute on its own!! Except of course none of them had any idea how to coord anything and at the very least a basic blouse would help them not look like crap. So "always wear a blouse, it is required," was born. But of course, if you're going for a certain look or are dressing casually, a blouse is by no means "required."

Nayrt but I've been into lolita since like 2008 and "always wear a blouse" has been a thing for as long as I can remember. There have always been well-done exceptions but the blouse requirement is not a recent thing.

>>

I have been in lolita for a long time as well, and every guide I ever seen and remember is "wear something on your shoulders", which many people shorten it to blouse, even though cardigan etc. would work. Most coords that I have seen that have looked good to me and I would pass as still lolita have some sort of material draping onto the shoulders. Even >>9480663 has it; it's not just straps.

By all means you can wear your clothes without blouses/coat/ etc. There is just a sizable amount of people that don't consider it lolita. The two fashion choices aren't just lolita or shit.

Lolita without a blouse has been a thing since forever in Japan, so I wonder what got lost in translation when it came here.
>>
>>9481355
it just has to be done correctly.
to me, the only way it works is with cap sleeve or wide strapped dresses (so as much of the shoulder area is covered as poss.), and if the rest of the coord looks warm-weather appropriate (breathable footwear, maybe can even get away with open-toed, ankle socks, etc.).
the tricky thing is to make sure the dress length is good or the body can end up looking too uncovered.

a consistent theme of summer or casual needs to be apparent. otherwise just wear one of those shirred cropped chiffon blouses from taobao or pic related
>>
>>9480607
If you think that's terrible you need to step outside the rulebook for some fresh air.
>>
>>9481397
See, my only real rule for blouse/no blouse whatever is "looks good."

It's never really been about if it looks good, it's about if it looks more like lolita than historical/50s inspired or just western goth clothing. Asian girls get it less because they lose a lot of that link, not too mention yellow fever and brands being able to get away with everything. When you can look at something in the middle of a historical inspired costume group or in a group of goths and can pick out the lolita without context that's when it's acceptable imo. Sweet and old school are the easiest for that reason.

I agree with >>9481103 >>9481397 these guidelines for the most part. The key part is not completely bare shoulders and balance. This is one of my favorite coords and it's undeniably lolita. Unlike >>9477068 and the corseted ero coord from the last thread that wouldn't stand out at all from "modern Marie Antoinette" type of things. My concrit is the opposite though in that I think bttsb inspired girl needs more skin showing in order to balance out the shoulders. Less opaque tights and shorter gloves would make it near perfect imo. I think hers is actually much better than the official example already.
>>
>>9480880

nayrt either, also been into lolita since 2006.

You might want to re-check those old livejournal entries. Every time the topic comes up it has always been a debate, never a consensus. The guides themselves always write "wear a blouse" because they're written for newbies, but even way back in 2006 the more established lolitas were debating blouse vs no blouse all day long.

This debate isn't even new, except that someone like you is now trying to say "it's always been blouses all the way". It hasn't, it really hasn't. In that era VM made sundresses in addition to jsks and btssb put out spaghetti-strap cutsews, which is what usually sparks a new blouse debate. If anything, blouseless was even more common in older brand snaps.
>>
>>9481424
But the girl in >>9477068 is undeniably wearing lolita and the straps on her dress are quite wide as well? Also obviously when I say "looks good" I mean "looks good as a lolita coord" come on anon.

>>9481427
Exactly, there have always been blouse/no blouse fights. Thank you for bringing up the fact that brands have made lolita sun dresses as well.

I personally love seeing nicely done blouseless coords just because the "always wear a blouse" mantra has gotten so prevalent that it feels like most lolitas are terrified to even try going without.

With context yes, if it was posted on tumblr tagged as historical and I didn't recognize the jsk and coord I wouldn't wonder if it was really lolita. I'd just accept it as something that coincidentally looks similar unlike this coord.

Did you only read the first few sentences? I'm pretty sure this is a miscommunication thing. I said I liked it not only on it's own but much more than the official version. My concrit was the opposite of the other anon's and I linked an example of it saying it was one of my favorite coords.

If >>9481427 posted first I would've agreed with them. I was saying it was never about blouse or no blouse, it's gothic lolita vs short and poofy western goth. Just like how skirt length doesn't mean nothing shorter than above your knees aren't lolita, but that a hot topic mini skirt isn't lolita. I was explaining more for the people I've seen before talking about no blouse vs blouse and lurking newbies, not necessarily you.
>>
>>9481427
>>9481436
About the lolita sun dresses, would it be fair to say that not everything that brands pump out is meant to be lolita, or meant to be lolita 100% of the time? I mean, they make mini skirts occasionally. Some dresses look great being worn outside of lolita (and as a result, outside of a blouse).

I am so hesitant on ever leaving the always cover the shoulder camp because I know that once people do, we are going to get 50 shit blouseless coords for every 1 good one. Not to mention I just think it doesn't fit the aesthetic 99.9% of the time imho
>>
>>9481474

The newbies thing is why the guides always stress blouses/shoulder cover. As for leaving the camp or not, that’s up to you. I don’t normally argue one side or the other, it’s just that someone pulled the “rules since 4eva” card, so I stepped in to say, “no, it’s always been a heavily argued debate, not a rule”.

If you decide you want to stay in the shoulders covered camp, I don’t see why not. Most of the time shoulders covered does look much better. Just be aware that it’s mainly your preference and not an actual rule since 4eva, and that there’s heaps of brand ads in history that show shoulders. Mainly your argument should have been “this would look better and more lolita with shoulders covered” instead of “this is against the rules”.

As for arguing that sundresses weren’t meant to be lolita, we’re not talking AP, Moitie or AatP, who regularly get more adventurous with their offerings. We’re talking VM and Btssb, and the era is 2006. The brand photos are pretty clearly styled lolita. It's really like >>9481355 says, the blouse has never been mandatory in Japan, so the brands have never followed this rule. They still don’t follow them, they’ve merely noticed that covered shoulders sell better, so they’ve gone with covered shoulders for their current lolita looks. (AP though is still flirting with other substyles when they do uncovered shoulders — but then AP has always flirted with other substyles)

“The rules” aren’t really a good card to pull anyway. To begin with, the rules were made to help newbies dress themselves, they aren’t meant to help you judge coords. When you meet someone who is dressed badly and looks terrible, you tell them to go back to the rules, because they clearly need help dressing up. You’re not supposed to look at coords and then say they look terrible because they don’t adhere to the rules, that is not what the rules are for.
>>
>>9481558
This is a really eloquent summary, thank you anon. I don't think we have to always stay within such a rigid box, experiementing with bending the rules (ie guidelines) make for more creativity instead of cookie cutter coords all the time.

I just don't think the hime look works with blouseless. she really should have just went simple, summery classic.
>>
>>9481911
You've not been to socal in summer I take it. We get to experience 117F and high humidity in August (granted that's my area). It's painful, but it's not always that humid. Just when the weather is supposedly trying to rain.
>>
>>9481911

In Brazil I got to wear lolita up to 37°C with black blouses, past that is just impossible. But when it's 16°C I can't even feel like getting out of my house because of the cold.
>>
>>9482140
I grew up in Asia and have been to SoCal during the summer. Asian summer is boiling and muggy for months on end, SoCal is bone dry in comparison.
>>
>>9481474
altrough not everything brands make is lolita, this excuse also seems to be said a bit to much. I've heard people say this about t-shirts (the regular t-shirts with a print, not the fancy cutsews) and some other items they didn't find lolita enough for their rules, even trough in Japan, people wear that stuff as lolita all the time.

I agree with >>9481558 that the rules are there to help newbies dress. They are more guidelines, and once you got a grasp of the fashion, you can break one or two rules and keep it lolita. Sadly, to many people misunderstand that as you can look horrible and call it lolita because they are guidelines :/.

It's funny how you can be lolita in Japan while wearing sneakers and no blouse under a JSK, or a t-shirt and skirt combo, and people scream ita here. Yes, 99% of the time it looks bad here, but that's because a lot of time western people do it, it are poorfags who can't or don't want to buy proper clothes so they just trow their sneakers and t-shirt on it, and a lolita coord, even without blouse, or with a t-shirt, or with sneakers, will need to be somewhat cohesive.

I feel the Chinese are more stricked with looking good and cohesive than the Japanese to begin with hahaha. To me, those Chinese OTT coords are perfection, and make me kinda want surgery if it wouldn't look so horrible on white people. Pic related.

And yes, being Asian helps looking good. Not because of yellow fever, but because most Asians just have a more yougthfull face and body, which makes it more easy to look cute. Add to that, that they learn to take care of their skin way better than most western people do and you'll easily look better. Also, down turned lacrimal ducts tend to be found more pretty, and although any race can have that, Asians have it almost always. Science is so nice :).
>>
>>9481424
On a side note (anon from >>9482290 here). Asian can look very bad too. I don't know why decided to A. they should wear this as clothing (not a cosplay), B. they should wear this in general, and C. post this in a magazine. Almost makes me thing they had an ita tread in there honestly.

problems:
>belt is too playful. would remove

>hair accessories are pretty cheap looking. would maybe pin a few to a bonnet though. if no pale yellow bonnet=lacey canotier, especially fitting with that hairstyle.

imo two most important things: removing the plastic-y hot pink accessories from the waist to improve the look of the strap brooch, and the hair accessories that are painfully not up to par need to be replaced with a bonnet or elegant canotier/sidebow.
