Different anon but singles day (11/11) is like the American Black Friday. It's the one day that shops go crazy with sales and you can basically find stuff 50% or more off if you're lucky.

I think last year there were $9.3billion in sales last year?
11/11 is called Singles Day because it started out as a festival to celebrate being single among young people. I'm just guessing but I like to think it's because South Korea turned 11/11 into Pepero Day which became a sort of extra Valentines where you go out and buy Korean pocky and exchange them. Then Japan made Pocky Day on the same day so someone got it in their mind to turn China's 11/11 day into something different and China has a LOT of singles.. thus, it was born.
As for why it's the biggest shopping holiday? Well, it's either because it caught on and retails saw it as an opportunity OR because being single means you sit at home sadly and online shop to make yourself feel better so why the fuck not make it a shopping holiday?

It's so big that most shopping services put out advances notices requiring that you place orders for 11/11 at least two weeks early and even then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything because everyone saves up orders for that day.
The shops usually start advertising their 11/11 sales weeks in advance and will either show the full price or a 'mystery' price like:

>11/11 Price: 1??.78Y
Where you don't know what you're paying until that day but they can still advertise a big discount. This method though is a bit of a gamble since you don't know if you'll get 43Y off or just 14Y.

Taobao also updates their site so you can search solely for 11/11 deals ahead of time to make your cart lists.

I've already got a cart going for 11/11 with stuff I want to buy and when it gets closer and they start showing sales prices I can go through my cart and if an item isn't on sale, I can just copy+paste the keywords, sort by 11/11 deals, and find a cheaper option!

Does anyone have links for the biscuit purse? Or a way to search for it? I google translated for "biscuit bag" and "biscuit purse" but the former gives me plastic bags for actual biscuits and the latter gives me pencil bags and wallets.

I've used both in the past for 11/11 and here's how I've rationalized as well as I can for dropping that much money. However any info here I say for AliExpress may blur together with using AliExpress for Black Friday last year because they do that as well and I spent most of Black Friday morning camped out in a phone store buying BF deal goods on Ali.

1. Coupons. They're hard to get and run out quick but usually every hour they'll hand out coupons for orders over a certain amount + store specific coupons.
2. Heavy items (coats, shoes, furniture). They'll likely be more expensive that Taobao 11/11 prices but once you factor in the free shipping, it's worth it in the end to just buy all your heavy stuff through Ali.
3. Guaranteed items. Taobao shopping services get SWAMPED on 11/11 so even though it's a 24-hour sale, you might not get everything you want. AliExpress there's a higher chance because you're buying it all yourself and not waiting for your order's turn in a queue of customers.

1. Bigger sales. There are way more shops on Taobao than AliExpress because Taobao is major shops (T-Mall) and independent shops (Taobao) and then all the sellers with little shops out of their houses. This means more people having sales which means more discounts as people compete to have the best sales.
2. Getting all your stuff together. With Ali you generally have to go through a ton of stores to make an order while with Taobao it's as easy as handing your order over and letting someone do the shopping for you, especially if you want multiple items from one shop.
3. Generally Taobao has the cheaper prices as compared to AliExpress + the bonus of the exchange rate. If you want multiple items or non-heavy items, I'd go with Taobao so you don't have dozens of packages arriving to your house for the next month or so. Plus a lot of things you see on Taobao might not be on AliExpress, especially when it comes to fashion.

So it sounds like if I want, say, shoes and desk organizers I'd hit up Ali. If I want cheap light necklaces and clothing, I'd go for Taobao.

I think I may just split my order up then since I want a combination of both heavy and light, and single and multiple items.

Sorry for the shit results but I've never done bento before and I'm using non-sticky rice.

Overall everything works good! It's messy filling up the molds and rice tends to get everywhere but I had fun seeing the results.

The molds to cut out details? Not easy to use if you're doing it on cheese. I tried the cat one and the cheese all got stuck in the mold. Ham went a bit easier for the rabbit one (3rd top row) but the mold didn't cut straight through so I tore bits trying to get the ears right.

I'm thinking everything will be 10000% better with the proper rice and using seaweed instead of meat/cheese.

I also used the egg molds and my little rice molds (bottom, the orange+blue+pink ones) and got surprising results!

The egg molds are hinged to make the egg formed fully around. I put rice in thinking maybe I'd get a huge riceball. I actually got two perfectly formed half-shapes! So that's handy if you want to lay them flat on something.
The actual rice molds worked really well but I squeezed too hard and some rice mushed out.

I haven't put everything into my bento yet since I'm waiting for the rice to cool but once I do if it looks alright I'll add an extra photo.


Also ignore the black specks in some of the rice, it's just pepper I added half way through when I realized plain rice isn't all that great.

I'm in the UK, and some websites seem to have it as an option for delivery (I did it for something I ordered from Amazon a while back), but if you want to set it up as a service at the post office I think you get charged. Not sure what happens if you just put your name and ' care of____ post office address' though. For shoes, a pair of plain black oxfords always work well. They always help make casual outfits a bit more formal. Flats are also good, but stay away from the "squishy" ones and go for the more structured ones. Ankle boots are also good. My usual motto is to go for simple shoe designs in neutral colors so you can pair them with any outfit.

Also I would rec some more formal items like a navy blazer or something because everything you have so far is pretty cutesy.

it's super fluffy and nice, bags are thick and the wig overall is thick. fibers aren't very shiny but theyre relatively smooth. the romlea is SO gorgeous, I can't stop gushing about it.
