This is stupid. You also could have rolled your fiat into btc but no one posts wojaks about paying their rent in 2013. Everytime you bought a $5 cheeseburger you could have bought btc and had about $70 today.

You wouldn't have saved them until now anyway.

had the opportunity to jump on bitcoin at $.05 about 4-5 years ago, I didnt do it because I thought it was a scam... I watched it for a few weeks. .07, .10, .08, .06 ect... skipped it. then all the sudden its up to $10 and i'm all wtf I should have, then it dropped again and I forgot about it until it hit $400, I figured I missed my chance so I never bothered... now its $4k+ and I hate myself

>sold ether at 130$ only to buy back in at 160$
>sold 1700 neo at 13$
>sold 800 OMG at 3.5$ at a loss
>sold 550 MCO at 3$, also at a loss

my absolute biggest regret is not converting my entire crypto portfolio into bitcoin before the fork, at that point i had around 30 bitcoin worth of coins, so i would get 30 bcc, which would net me around $30k if i sold at ATH on bittrex, literally free money

i guess i were too scared if the blockchain shat itself and i lost everything

I will ow $10,000 this year on a $36000 short term capital gaines. Money I have yet to even touch in my own fucking bank account.
>>
>>3417937
Is it possible to avoid this? Maybe if you transfer low sums so nobody gets suspicious? Or try to cash out by localbitcoins. Taxation is theft.
>>
>>3417959
trade on exchanges that doesn't require you to sign up for an account and share personal information, so the irs cant prove anything

etherdelta is a good example, just make an eth account, and you can trade right away, you dont even need a username or password

to cash out, localbitcoins is probably the best option, or buy physical items with bitcoin and sell them, like gold or jewels
>>
there isn't any. The thing that's the killer is the short-term capital gaines. I'm being taxed at nearly 30% which is absolute robbery.

>>
>>3418033
you don't have a choice here, bud.

As soon as you trade in the same year, that trade is a 30% tax on your capital gains. It's a short-term gain.

I am seriously considering at this point to pay the tax, and barrel my money into ARK & ICO, and not touch it for two years.

At least with these two I can get paid.

Ordering packs of mdma from Europe was def a rush in its own way. And extremely profitable. Get bulk for 6-12$ per gram and sell for 40$ per gram in ounces. Those Dutch moon rocks are so fire get high just looking at a pack of them.

Besides the obvious shit like not buying BTC or ETH when it was cheap or buying a blocknet node when it was dirt cheap, probably not just holding 3-4 good projects and periodically re-balancing them.
I do this with my equity funds and make good money, but crypto just gives me an urge to go balls deep into moon missions and I end up missing on good gains in other coins.
Like I'm currently missing out on all of these ARK gains because I sold trying to make money elsewhere, but I'm too stubborn to buy back at a loss.

no, I have been doing a trade for almost 2 decades now. The trades are hard to make really good money at. You get the lay offs and its hard on the body too. Dont get me wrong you can make a nice living but driving 1.5-2+ hours everyday and putting in 8-10 hours and then sometimes even 16+ hours with no days off just to get laid off at the end and be jobless for a few weeks can really slow down those profits... Then consider you are surrounded by overgrown manchildren, alcoholics, excons ect.. sometimes I really hate it.

Last November I went from being 60k in debt, to having 190k in the bank because I borrowed money and gambled it on Trump winning.

I then had the option of a) buying my dream car (R35 GTR) and a house b) investing in assets and securities (Pic related, was going to go 60% bitcoin, 20% gold, 20% google stock last November), or c) move to a new city to move in with a close friend.

I went with option c & ended up trading shares in the short term, and while I made ~25k in a couple of months, but then when I got a new job I had to put trading on the back-burner, invested heavily into a single trade which looked safe with a decent return, well that trade went the other way & I lost 75% on that trade (about 150k). Oh, and that 'friend' I moved in with, turned out they were stealing from me.

Like I'm still ~100k better of than I was a year ago, but had I been an 'idiot' and bought a dumb car, I would be 150k better off than I am now. Had I gone with my instincts on investing, I'd be at 7 figures already, retired living on dividends at age 30.

Moral of the story is I chose people over material things & I got fucking reamed, never again.

The thought that they were worth ~15BTC at one point is killing me as it is pretty much financial independence in my poorfag country. Please, send me some kind words /biz/, so i dont off myself.
>>
>>3426977

I had tried to start a business on personal credit that went nowhere (~20k), as well as just spending / living beyond my means & having friends mooch off me because I never said no to people.

Once I cut that shit out, 3 months later had ~190k in the bank, then I went right back into a similar kind of friendship, well never again. Thing is I know it will turn around, like once I'm in the right environment, away from parasites, it just happens, like I had no idea that betting on Trump would get me out of debt, and yet it just worked out. All I had was an intention (Get out of debt, go to Europe), and then the idea came later.

I was 70k in debt, tried saving & living on Ramen, got it down to 60k in like 3 months, went fuck this, got impatient, found crazy idea (literally saw a John Oliver video thrashing Trump and thought if Trump is so retarded, why is he winning every primary? That led to going down the rabbit hole & making bank), leveraged hardcore & was severely rewarded for it.

I could look at the debt as 'frivolous spending', but if it wasn't for that debt I never would have borrowed 80k & gambled it, and even with the 150k loss, I'm still 100k better off than had I 'saved' like a chump, I'd still be paying my way out of that debt like a sucker. Leverage is where it's at, just DYOR & don't be wrong.

The real killer is that if I had the financial literacy I have now, instead of betting that 80k, I would have opened a FX position shorting the peso with 100x or 250x leverage, would have made 1.5 - 4m off that capital.

where'd you learn the financial literacy to start with and what do you suggest for a semi-neet like me in a shitty BA (entrepreneurship)

I was banging a chick who was getting married to another dude and I didn't tell her that I loved her. She's an awesome chick but a little crazy; still emails me when she's had a few drinks to tell me she misses what we had. Feelsbadman.jpg
Other than that no ragrets.

not mining btc when it was $100 for the first time
and it would get 1btc per month for $400 investment
I thought the price could go down and it would never pay off....
also I was a kid
and even though I knew that there was money to be made in buying I didn't realise the importance

also, spending btc this year rather than saving
I bought a pc for £1200 that could have been 6.3 btc
or I could have kept the btc I bought at £600

and then only getting into btc in august and alts this month
I missed the ETH and NEO boat at the start of the year
why did I spend so much time jerking off and playing games when my hobby could have made me rich

so many regrets but apparently it's still very early
so even though I'm late and poor I'd still like to ride the bull market
and be part of the early adopter masterrace compared to normos

Numeraire.

I posted in this kind of thread that my biggest mistake was buying posw back in April,

Today my biggest regret is selling it at a loss

I have no idea what to invest in or how to get started

Many on here talk about crypto, but they have been doing it for months, I barely understand what cryptos are...

I make over 100k at my job and am just now trying to learn and understand this stuff.......
>>
Heard of btc back in 09 in /g and hackaday, brushed it off as a gimmick or some proof of concept shit. Have I invested my inheritance in btc instead of buying a car and partying, I would be filthy rich now.
I was young and stupid back then.

Passing on BTC at 4 dollars.

Passing on ETH at 4 dollars.

It will always hurt.

I did buy 80 dollars worth of BTC for a purchase I chickened out of that is now worth 1700.

Not buying BTC and ETH when Ether was 2 dollars and I was shilling it to a friend.

If I had funneled cash into both of those instead of weed I'd be set for life.
